They currently have a Buy 2 get 1 free deal which makes each drink about ~$3.50, a good price for each drink. Been here a couple times and I do enjoy the drinks. My gripe is the wait time between drinks. With that promo going on, people will be ordering multiple drinks per order. Which means you'll have to wait. I've waited 10+ minutes for an order. The last time I was there, there was no line so I placed in my order. I saw a few other people waiting for their drinks. There was only 1 person taking orders and making drinks at that time. And so when someone else came in and stood in line, this person stopped making the drinks and took their order, adding on to the wait time. There's no sense in taking their order as well if you're the only one making drinks! I also was grossed out seeing the employee making the drinks wearing sandals... I've had Ding Tea in the past, but we decided to go since there's a holiday deal going on if you buy 2 drinks, you get 1 free. I wanted some cheap boba after blowing all my money from the recent Christmas shopping. There's a lot of choices on the menu, but I decided to settle with something simple and sweet for myself, the Honey Milk Tea. Biggest mistake that I made was getting the regular sugar level, which is listed as 100% sugar and is SUPER, undrinkably sweet. I didn't realize that it would be that sweet, until I took a sip and it straight up tasted like the sugar syrup that they use in drinks. Yes, honey milk tea is supposed to be sweet, but not SO sweet that you can't even taste the honey. The other drinks that my boyfriend bought were decent enough. He got a Jasmine Milk Tea with 50% sweetness and it was still on the sweet side, but at least I could drink it without feeling like getting diabetes. Anyways, bummed out that my drink wasn't too great and I ended up tossing it out. However, 3 drinks for only $9 is a great deal (if you don't care too much about sweetness levels). I've only tried this place in LA. Came by today to give it a try. Luckily they had a sample of the oolong milk tea, which was listed as one of their best sellers. I ended up really liking it and got it with egg pudding and 75% sweetness. Had that very roasted, rice taste to it, but it was overall a good taste. The only problem I had was the extremely loud music playing outside... like it was SO loud I could barely hear myself or the cashier.. how could you even hold a conversation with the music blasting in your ear? Typical boba tea house with tasty drinks. The baristas will make the drinks correct about 50% of the time. The only reason why I continue to come back is because of the convenient location and the buy 2 get 1 free deal. Even when I ask for half the amount of ice, my cup is still loaded with ice. Once, I even asked for no ice and my drink was still made with a lot of ice. I also asked the barista to fix it, but all she did was say, "It's okay." Feeling confused? Me too. Hard to complain for the price. Really great value here with the buy 2 get 1 free deal. Milk tea drinks have shot up in price around the bay area and it's an expensive addiction. The deal here makes it a great value. The drinks are pretty good too. Granted it isn't the best milk tea, but for the price, it's pretty darn good. Only issue I really ever had was boba inconsistency (which is probably one of the most important thing to judge a Milk tea spot). I also believe they include real taro in their Taro milk tea which is not common as other places just use straight powder. This place looks like a club, but hey, I like their tea!! And god damn, these poor kids (Andrew Hill high school students) have been so deprived of a legit boba place. I'm happy Ding Tea House can save them all. I judge all tea houses based on their original black milk tea. If they allow customization, I usually do as low as 10% sweetness and 50% ice. Why? To taste the quality of the tea. If their tea is high quality, it should not be bitter, and if it's steeped long enough, it should not taste watered down. I've ordered from here at least a handful of times and have been satisfied. If you come here, prepare to be surrounded by high school students, and sometimes an awkward waiting area. Service (8/10) No one was here so there's no wait. Cashier seemed struggling to get order properly. Decor (7/10) It's so darkly lit at night that it seems unnecessary when the place is dead. Ding Tea was an absolute dud for us. Hoping to find a new boba favorite, the hubby and I made our way to Ding Tea, a parlor we always drove past, but never had the chance to try. When we first entered, there were only two other parties there, not very busy for a Sunday afternoon. We absolutely hated the positioning of the menu, forcing us to have to wait until we were right in front of the cashier before we could finally see the drinks Ding Tea offered. If there was a long line, we could see how that would definitely slow the pace down since they had to wait for us to choose what we wanted. Like all of my first boba tries, I got the jasmine milk tea with less ice and normal sugar, while the hubby got the signature milk tea with red bean at normal sugar and less ice. The drinks came out looking good, but the minute the hubby and I took a sip, we immediately regretted it. I absolutely could not drink mine. The jasmine tea had a medicinal, bitter aftertaste that made it impossible to take another sip. Then on the other end of the spectrum was the hubby's signature milk tea that was as bland as water. The red bean were also tough, grainy, and just as bland as the tea they were floating in. Both the hubby and I left our cups unfinished. I went and ordered two taro smoothies and they gave me two taro milk teas. The milk teas sat there for 30 minutes before I asked if our drinks we're supposed to be ready soon. I asked if they could remake it but they said they were unable to unless I paid another 15$ for two brand new drinks. They didn't even remake the milk teas that had been sitting there for 30 minutes. Ding Tea House is a pretty large name in boba, so I've been meaning to try this place out pretty badly. The place is on a corner, next to Andrew Hill High! The location is really good for visibility, but the parking lot is shared with at least 3 different stores, so parking can get really crazy when all stores get busy. The interior of the store is a little small in my opinion, with no real tables. There's an awkward little opening with access to a small space that's still part of the store. The drink choices are quite large! There is only one size of each drink (usually a large, about 22 oz) and almost all drinks are about $5. They do have a buy 2, get one free offer, which is nice considering me and my friend also got a drink each and we got a free drink. The drinks itself taste ok. I wasn't overly impressed with any certain aspect of the drink; the tea tasted ok, the sweetness was good, the boba was ok. Overall, I wasn't super impressed with this to be honest. Received two stars because of hours being so spotty. Throughout the week, this shop has been closing at random times (from 9:15-9:30 PM) including weekends. It's understandable that hours vary due to COVID, but it would help to have set hours so I wouldn't have to drive out to be told that they closed and then accept patrons after me leaving.
