Ding Tea is a franchise with multiple locations across San Diego and this one is pretty on par with the others. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It is always easy to order here. They stay open late, have ample parking, the space is clean, and the staff is friendly.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They mainly operate with a kiosk ordering system, though I am sure you can order with an employee at the register if needed. The menu is displayed on a TV near the kiosk which makes it easy to find a drink. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are a few specials laid out on the register counter that make that area look a little cluttered. Maybe a bulletin board for those specials would make the space feel less busy, but it did not take away from my experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]After ordering we sat at one of the tables. Luckily the staff gave us the WiFi password which makes this a nice option for studying or getting work done. Our drinks came out pretty quickly. My green tea drink was a little bitter which usually means the tea may have been steeped a bit too long. With the lower sugar level it made the drink taste closer to a 25 percent sweetness level. The boba was chewy like usual but lacked sweetness and flavor, which is pretty typical for Ding Tea. The cheese foam tasted really good but the texture was strange. I occasionally got little chunky bits through the straw that felt like curdled cheese. It was definitely an interesting texture moment. Luckily I am not super sensitive to textures or it might have ruined the drink. Overall my drink was about a 6 out of 10. The Aloe Vera Peach Juice was surprisingly really good. It had a nice peach flavor mixed with that classic aloe vera juice taste you get from bottled aloe drinks. It also came with aloe pulp pieces which worked like a topping. It was refreshing and perfectly sweet. There are not many other boba spots in the surrounding area so competition is limited, but Ding Tea still offers a solid selection of drinks and satisfies the boba craving. Extra points for staying open late.

This is one of my sister's favorite boba spot by her house and it is my first time being here. She was very stoked to learn that Lee sandwiches will be next door. But let's get back to a review. I'm going to break this into 3 portions: location, customer service and drink quality. Location was super easy to find with plenty of parking all around. Customer service felt a little rush. If you're a newbie, come prepare and don't forget to tell them if you need to adjust your sugar and ice level. For the drink quality, I'm not a fan of ding tea franchises in north cal. But socal is different. We got a total of 4 drinks. Each average around $5.

I got the signature milk tea with grass jelly, adjusted less sugar and ice. I'm used to boba drinks with a strong tea flavor. I didn't feel that with the drink but whatever they used, it has a high caffeine level. I got the monster...

milk latte for my husband. It comes with boba and also adjusted sweetness and ice. I tried his and didn't like it. I'm going to say that their drinks do not run sweet sweet. So next time I'd get 75% sugar instead of 50%. My sister is a huge fan of the taro milk tea so she got that. My brother in law got jasmine milk tea with white boba. Overall, rating 4 for me. I would come back and try another drink bc the one I got was not up to my liking.

So happy there's a Ding Tea right by my house. Out of all the boba shops in East Daygo, Ding Tea is the best. My go to drink is the signature milk tea w golden boba but today I was craving the monster boba. The difference is the Brian sugar boba in the monster so it's more sweeter. I was literally coming here every single day (essential during beginning of Covid). Different drinks go best with different toppings. The egg pudding is good in the signature as well.

I do the crystal boba when I get the jasmine green milk tea and the sea cream /cheese Foam on a jasmine iced green tea

The drinks are always good here T~T The staff are polite and drinks come out quickly every-time. The interior is neat and well lit. There's plenty of tables to hang out or study and the workers are friendly. Vi was a pleasure to talk to!

Been to a different Ding tea before but this was the first time at this location. We had the taro mix burnt cream milk tea. I liked the real taro in it, much better than taro flavoring alone. I thought the drink overall was okay. I think a bit more taro mixed into the milk would've made it better because all the taro was only lined on the inside of the cup so you had to use the straw to scrape it off and when you did scrape it off - I felt it would've been better with more of it. Also, the boba was a bit on the firm side and I think it would be better if it were a little softer.

The grass jelly was soft and silky. I could've gone less sweet but still pretty good! Assam Black Tea with grass jelly and half sweet. Just the right amount of sweetness for me. Grass jelly soft and silky. The tea was earthy and strong, just the way I like it! Oolong Tea with cheese foam and golden boba, half sweet. The boba had the right amount of chewiness. I prefer to get regular tea with cheese foam because the cheese foam makes it creamy and a touch savory to cut the sugar down a bit. Tea was strong but could've been a touch stronger. The young lady that helped me at the register was kind. They make their drinks speedy, perfect for on the go. I believe you can even order online to pick up? Also don't forget to ask for a stamp card. Buy 10 and get 1 free.

I was nearby and thought to try this unique place. Walking up to order I wanted to try something different. There was a sign to try their new mulberry tea with crystal boba. I tried it but with lychee popping boba instead. The tea and the boba was good. There were lots of mulberries in my drink which I appreciated. However I was thinking it would be fresh fruit. When I ate the mulberries the texture was chewy? As if maybe they were dehydrated, then they tried to hydrate them again but not long enough? The service was good. Think I'd try the place again, but order something else.

I've been here a couple times but was not impressed with the last visit. I ordered a Hokkaido Milk Tea with cheese foam and a strawberry slush with strawberry popping boba. The cheese foam had a grainy texture and the drink tasted watered down. The popping boba was also a little hard. I was disappointed but hoping it was just an off day.

I really enjoyed the flavors of winter melon and green tea. Although I personally enjoy adding lychee jelly to my milk teas, I would probably get a different topping next time as it didn't compliment the drink too well. I had Ding Tea in Asia, but never in the US until now, neither a location in San Diego, finally after 3 years seeing them popping up left and right, I stopped at this one to try out their tea, I guess their regular milk tea was just like a lot of reviews said, a bit bland and water down, but their brown sugar monster was a bit better, and I really like their boba toppings, not sticky or chewy at all. The price point is a little high for 2 large drinks came out almost $20 compared to other chains.

New place! Good location. This place can get busy and can be a wait at times but worth it. If you love boba you know that the majority, at some point, are all the same but since we love boba so much we venture out and change it up from time to time from our 'go to places'. Each place has their own flavors and so on. This place is not my 'go to' but it is a place I will frequent. This is my favorite boba place in the whole San Diego, like ever. I've been to many others, but there will be something off. But nothing can go wrong with this Ding Tea. Most of the drinks I've tried are good. Get the Signature Milk Tea with crystal boba, Oolong Milk Tea and Jasmine Green Milk Tea. I always like to add egg pudding too. The music is not too loud, unlike others. There are also games like Jenga and cards to play. Definitely a great place to hang with friends and get good drinks. My all time fav server, Jason, is always nice and helpful. Funny dude. He'll recommend good stuff if you're not sure what to get. read more

There had been an abundance of boba or bubble tea drink chain stores that opened up due to their popularity. I've tried many all over southern California. From La Crecenta, Pasadena, Alhambra, Garden Grove, Westminster, etc. Ding Tea is one of my favorite amongst only 2 other out of the over a dozen companies that I've been to. Decided to try this place out because of the hype from my friends. They have decent boba and are really close to me but they have horrible customer service. It's mostly the same guy with the glasses. I'd rather go to tea station even though it's a further drive, but their boba is better and they have good customer service. read more

I am not a big fan of Taro, but I got the suggestion from the staffs about their taro milk tea. And they never disappointed me, the milk was great. It wasn't too much sweet. I would suggest if you come to SDSU Ding Tea and don't know what you want to get, then just ask the staffs they're friendly and they'll give you some suggestions. Or maybe their drink suggestion will become your favorite? =))) read more

I got the monster boba half sweet and it was perfect!! Currently obsessed with their monster boba (which is basically brown sugar milk with some crushed ice). It's definitely a great option if you don't like milk teas!! I would recommend drinking this half sugar because full sweetness is pretty intense. read more

Love! Love! Love Ding Tea! And it finally opened in university area, no more driving to convoy and dealing with parking there. The shop was clean and staffs are super friendly. I ordered brown sugar with golden boba and kumquat lemon tea. Both drink are super yummy and they made it just the way I like it. I love how I can adjust the sweet and ice level to my liking. Got the fresh brewed oolong tea. I think they put some sugar in it because it was sweeter than expected. I dont like sugar. You can ask to have different levels of sugar, which is good, but I just didn't think they would put sugar in normal tea. My fiancée got the monster boba thingy and she liked it alot. Was about 11 bucks for the 2. This place was not too shabby. Im just not much for boba. read more

Called my order in but they said they would only make the smoothies when I arrive, so they won't sit there. I thought, hmm maybe they mean well, I'll be there in 10 min. Well the convenience of calling an order in and it being ready when you get there, went out the door. There were about 6 people waiting....so I waited too. Cancelled my order since it wasn't made and took a premade tea....it was ok. I'll stick to my drive through Thai tea for $2.50 at Cali Baguette down the street :) read more

The employees need to work on customer service and multi tasking skills. I had to repeat my order twice and I think they made it too sweet. I didn't ask for an exchange because it already seemed they were behind on orders so I didn't want to wait longer. Maybe someone has to be placed in the leadership role to maintain quality control. read more

Undoubtedly, my favorite boba shop in town. I'm always greeted with a smile and service is exceptional. The menu offers many varieties (fresh tea, flavored tea, milk tea, fruit juice, Yakult/yogurt, and latte). Their milk tea is well balanced. You can definitely taste the sweetness, but surprisingly not overwhelming. They don't have that "powder" taste like most places and that's always a huge plus. Highly recommendable. read more

Great boba texture the two times I've gone! The passion fruit milk tea was a bit chalky and powdery, I'm not sure what happened there...... but with regards to the teas I've been getting, yum! This is my go to spot since it's so close to home and serves quality tea! It gets a little crowded since it's new but worth! read more

Ding tea is one of my favorite boba franchises. However, I was extremely disappointed with this location. I ordered two drinks, both large signature milks teas one with no sugar for my friend. My friend took a drink and it had sugar!! I tasted mine to see if they simply mixed up the drinks but both had sugar. I approached them and they didn't apologize but try to state it didn't have sugar I tasted both in front of them and informed them they tasted exactly the same. They remade the drink with no sugar. Then I asked if I could have the other since There is no point in wasting good tea and they said no. So now I'm mad that one they messed with my friends health and two wasted delicious tea. read more

My friend and I low key have made this our boba place since we live so close and we love the fact that you guys use golden boba. It just tastes way better than the traditional boba. The specials and deals and rewards they give you by registering your number really work and you even get free drinks from time to time! Not only that but you get the same type of deals and specials for other places too! Just work a bit more on making the drinks a little bit faster. Sometimes I get running a three man crew is a little tough but keep it up guys! read more

Came in around 11:50pm on Sat May 6, 2019 as last customers of the day and they were cleaning up. Yet they still managed to serve me and my wife. We've got the signature milk tea and lychee milk tea with golden boba, half sweet. For once, i feel like the tea here are much brewed than other brands. Other places, either it taste water down or the tea is just not as strong. This is a personal preference. We were helped by 2 young male employees. They were nice and told us a list of recommended drinks. Next time we are going try the monster latte drink that everyone raves about. The shop is very clean and spacious with lots of open seating right next to panda express. My wife asked if we were allow to bring in food, the manager or owner (I believe) was there and he said it was totally fine. Great place to study for students in that case. Overall this place is very convenient since we live in La mesa and did not know it even exist until now. read more

Worst service ever. The dude in the glasses were extremely rude and apparently it's against their policy to be a normal boba shop and fill up the cup full instead of missing 1/4 of the cup. I came in wanting a wintermelon milk tea with crystal boba and no ice and I asked for the cup to be filled since this place never seem to. Other ding tea station DID fill it up without me having to ask. When I ask the guy in the glasses he rudely said no and threaten to cancel my order. 1/4 of my cup is missing when I order. And beware if you have the phone number rewards, and buy multiple cups at the same time, they will try to cheat and put less points than you're actually receiving. And it's upsetting that they are raising the buy 10 get 1 cup free phone reward thing to 18. It's ridiculous because the drink don't even include boba. They charge extra for boba if you want it added to your "free" drink. read more

The person taking orders at register was helpful and the drinks were bomb. I ordered the Monster "Bobo" Latte (I know, silly name right?) and the Lychee Milk Tea with golden boba for my friend. Our first drink was great; the whipped cream substance they add to the top of the beverage really mixes well with the milk and sweet boba. Our second drink was also solid. This was a relief to me since the flavored milk tea I ordered last week when they first opened was kinda clumpy. Looks like they figured out how to mix it properly this time :) I spent just under 10 dollars for two very satisfying drinks, so I'll be happy to come back again. I'm a loyal customer at this Dingtea location and I went in the other night, I believe I saw their manager and his wife, he was a little aggressive with his tone and actions, I believe I heard his name was Nick. He does not seem very professional. All his workers deserve a raise, they are all usually so nice and lively but when he's around, you can tell something's off. Overall manager Nick shows lack of care for his customers and most importantly HIS EMPLOYEES they help the business thrive and caring more for the employees would be great. I have worked in the food industry before so I know how it feels to be under poor management and I dont know what happened to the three other girls I usually saw when I came in but I'm sad to have heard they all left. read more

Second the store was not clean and unorganized as i walk in. Third, the drink came out and i did not recognized that they forgot my boba until I got home. Seem unprofessional to me. Frist off, 12 Noon on a weekday and there's already a line? Just had their kumquat Lemon Ice and signature milk tea, and it was so tasty. The Kumquat Lemon ice tea is now sweeter and less bitter/sour than before, which really balances out. For the signature milk tea, you can actually taste the tea flavor now which is a huge plus for me. After multiple visits, I have to say this place is really exceeding expectations compared to when they first open. read more

I would say this ding tea has the most flavor in the drink out of all the ding tea in sd. only problem is it can get quite busy with alot of high school and college students around 2-4pm so just be prepare to wait a little. read more
