I think their drinks here are pretty decent. I usually get jasmine green milk tea, regular sweetness, and it's good. They use a lot of non-dairy creamer though. I usually spend ~10 minutes to get my drink here. The reason for 3 stars instead of 4 is their customer service. I personally haven't had an issue yet, but I've seen how they treat some of their customers. They give a lot of attitude when a drink order is messed up. Even if there was a misunderstanding, there's no reason to act like that towards the customer (especially the non-Asian ones). You shouldn't be in a customer service job if you can't put on a smile (guy with glasses who always looks angry) or be willing to correct an order to make the customer happy. I hope they improve their customer service etiquette soon. read more

I got a strawberry milk tea and it tasted rotten. I asked for a different one but they kept insisting on making the same strawberry milk tea. And they said if I wanted a replacement I'd have to pay. And I did. I got a brown sugar milk tea to keep it safe but I asked for light boba the 2 times I ordered. Once I got my second one the fill the cup up so much with ice when you put the straw your drinks spills everywhere and it's a huge mess. Also for my second drink they make more than half my drink with boba even though I asked for light boba. Don't know if it was intentional because they were annoyed but definitely won't be coming again. La Jolla ding tea is way better read more

We have been coming to different Ding Tea in SD since they were first opened but by far the SDSU Ding Tea is our favorite place to go. Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. Kevin and Minh are our favorite guys. They know their customers and remember their drinks especially regular customers like us. This place has the worst customer service ever. The front guy has a really thick accent, I can't understand a thing he said. Just the whole team that work there has a bad vibe. Looks like they are not happy working there? Anyway, the monster boba tastes like runny milk with sugar and the winter melon milk tea is NO where as good as at Kung Fu. Only reason why I'm giving it 2 stars is because I love their boba. I've been here almost every afternoon with my friends and tried just about half of the menu, but heres why I give it JUST 2 stars: their customer service. After one of the staff members would take your order, they would go and talk about the customers disrespectfully in Vietnamese. Especially towards the non-asian customers, and at some points even being racist. I understand Vietnamese, and always hear how disgusting their comments are towards certain customers. Especially the guy with the glasses, he talks the most smack. Absolutely disrespectful. Also, they're known for lessening the amount of drinks so they could (I overheard) 'save the ingredients'. My drink would sometimes be only filled two thirds high in a cup. For such an amazing boba establishment with delicious drinks, I hate to see such rude people working there. Be weary. read more

I was so excited to hear that they were opening up a ding tea near state area, but let me just tell you, I was thoroughly disappointed. When I arrived they were pretty empty, there were a couple people waiting for drinks, but no line. My friend and I proceeded to register and we began ordering. As I began to order, the guy at the register literally put up his finger and told me to "hold on" mid sentence, because he was trying to find it the drink in his POS system. I mean I get it, I've worked at numerous boba places, and I mean because it was a new place I understood that a new system takes time to get used to.-- I thought this was pretty funny cause it caught my off guard. After he took my order (which took a lot longer than I expected), my friend and I waited for our drink. After 15 mintues, she finally got her drinks (mind you this place was pretty empty). They forgot to put boba in her drink, so they took it back and she had to wait another 5 minutes for them to literally put boba in her drink-- and i know that they didn't make her a new drink because I literally watched them poor the previously made drink into a cup of boba. 20 minutes go by and they start giving out drinks to people that arrived after me. I decide to go up and ask where my drink was, and they had no idea. The guy that took my order whips out the drink for me (which took another 5 minutes) and I left right away because it has now been 30ish minutes at this point. In the car, I take a sip, and it tastes like straight up syrup. I had asked for 25% sugar-- and I have ordered this drink at the Mira Mesa, Balboa, and Artesia location, and at all of these places the drink has always been consistent. I know how it supposed to taste like. I go back and ask the guy if this was 25% sugar and then he gets an attitude, and begins to make excuses on why the drink is sweet. I then proceed to tell him that I have been to other locations, and ordered the same thing, and my drink had NEVER tasted that sweet. He offers to remake my drink, and when he gives it back to me, has a horrible attitude. It still didn't taste right, but I didn't think it was worth to fight them on it. (I would also like to mention we weren't the only people that had issues with our order.) All in all, I would not revisit this location. They had 4 or 5 people in the back, there should be no reason for them to be taking this long to make drinks. Boba is supposed to a quick stop, not a place where you have to spend 40+ minutes at. I have worked in restaurants and boba places, so I try to have sympathy for such establishments, but there are no excuses for what happened today. Employees need to be trained more, there needs to be consistency in drinks, and management needs to step it up. read more

This is the best place for SEA CREAM COFFEE with golden boba :)), and it is my favorite drink as well. Even It is not on the drink menu, but if anyone who has not tried it yet, I would recommend it. This is my special drink; I usually order 5 or 6 bottles of sea cream coffee every week. IT IS SUPER GOOD & I LOVE IT. I used to drive to Ding Tea in Santa Ana to buy sea cream coffee :((. Pretty loud but a fun place to go for a quick boba. Crew is very quick and efficient kinda shockingly so. Nice tables to sit at and overall decor is nice too. Kinda wish there was a menu outside to preview what's available or at least a paper menu so as a customer waiting you don't have to get close to see the options. Ding tea is one of the closer boba places to SDSU(about 2 miles away). I like that you can customize the sweetness and ice level here. My go to drink is the top fruit tea 70 percent sweet with their golden boba. They also have crystal boba which has a similar texture to jelly. The good thing about the crystal boba is you can refrigerate the drink and the crystal boba will still be soft and chewy. read more

Yet another location of Ding Tea in SD that we have tried and loved ! They have a loyalty card program of sorts though I don't think it's useable anywhere else . Ding tea is the only boba place that makes true no sugar drinks - atleast offers them and I like to believe my matcha milk tea truly has no extra added sugar ( except from the sugar soaked boba ) . I waited about 7 minutes for two drinks with 3 people ahead of me . Not too bad at all . They had a lot of staff that day and the place was bustling . One of the employee was touching his face and didnt wash his hand and proceeded ti make drinks. They should wear gloves because of the virus. Overall the drinks have been pretty good (I've tried matcha milk tea, brown sugar milk tea, and wintermelon). I wish they had one more size because I finish the large size so quickly. As someone who works in customer service/ food service, it's like they don't encourage the employees to have any customer service skills. 9/10 I'm not greeted upon entering even when there's no one ordering at the window. When they give you the drinks there's no "thank you" "have a nice day" or anything. To me, acknowledging the guests is a BASIC customer service skill and it's irritating to walk into a place of business and they say nothing to you. read more

It is the worst Ding Tea in San Diego. I would give them 0 star for service. They have no idea of how to treat customers appropriately. The 1st time, I ordered 2 drinks, after 10min, they gave me 1 of them, and after another 15min, when I asked them about the other, they looked around and said that it has been in their counter for a while but they forgot to call my number. AND NO APOLOGY for the their mistake. The 2nd time, when I called for an order for pick up, they didnt do it until I came and paid for it (what??????) For the quality off the drink. They never fill up the cup, always 80%. AND THEY FILL HALF OF A CUP WITH BIG HARD ICE, WHICH TAKE ABOUT AN HOUR TO BE MELTED. Probably one of the top places to go to right now for boba! Boba is great and you can customize the sweetness of your drink. I've tried both taro and winter melon. The winter melon is my favorite with the golden boba! I have my sweetness at 30% which is just enough. I could probably go less to be honest. Parking lot is a hot mess. Good luck finding parking. 9It wasn't that crowded at Sunday night, i was waiting for my drink for like 20 mins then they did 1 of my drink wrong, and had to wait for another 5 mins. There were like 6 people working there but when drink order got overwhelmed, they were hiding at the kitchen on something then walked to the front when one of the employee asked them for help. I know it's still new but it has been a week now, i think making 1 drink should not take more than 5 mins. Compare to clairemont's ding tea, this place didn't give that much boba. Bought 3 Honey green teas and 1 cup was bitter since the amount of honey wasn't enough. Ok, 3rd time i came back to this place to get tea, since it's near my house so why not. But they missed my order as i asked for 3 honey green tea but somehow, the word "milk" becomes common and it ended up in my tea when i didnt ask for it. Tbh, it was part of my fault for did not check the receipt but then i was in rush to get gasoline and i had to pick up my mom after buying tea. After i came back, saw my drink w the milk, i was disappointed. I'm also lactose intolerant so there we go, the monster latte one i bought with the tea is for my sister, not for me. I bought it my tea but yea, dissappointment. Please make sure to have your employee to ask customer when they ordered honey gt/bt if it's with milk or without milk. 75% of tea shop will miss this and don't bother to ask customers bc they thought they knew it all. But again, pls ask customers, it won't hurt to ask again. Reputaiton hurts if things gone wrong. read more
