After reading about this place on the internet, I decided to take my girlfriend here on a road trip from Phoenix. The setting was nice as it's in a small AZ town and sitting next to a creek. The front part of the restaurant was a like a diner. I had the typical burger and fries. Very, very good! The staff was very friendly. The back part of the restaurant had seats that over looked a creek that ran by the restaurant. After we ate, we took a walk by the creek. This was very scenic. When i lived in Prescott loved coming here for breakfest. Always busy but worth it.

We couldn't of found a better place to eat breakfast!! The front dining area was full, so the waitress had us go around back to a second dining area. I had the Chorizo scramble and the wife had biscuits and gravy. Both Were superb!! Felt like it was Moms, home cooked breakfast!! The price was very reasonable and had great service. This was a bit of a hole in the wall as most places are downtown Prescott. Went for lunch but ordered off the all day breakfast menu. We had the cinnamon French toast with egg and bacon. Service in the back section was terrible. Took ten minutes after seating to be offered drinks and menus, another 10 minutes before order was taken. Two tables of folks who arrived after us were served before us. Waitress provided wrong info on menu item( corn beef hash was from a can). Omelette was not as ordered but came five minutes later as side order. She did not charge us, which was thoughtful, but I would have preferred to receive what I requested. It took 70 minutes from seating for the complete breakfast "experience". Never had these problems in the front section. Not enough trained help in the back!!! When I gave my order the lady gave me a dirty look and told me that I needed to change it because I didn't know how much food I was ordering. The Dinner Bell is a place I really wanted to like. I used to work nearby, so it was a regular stop. The food is better than average diner fare. I especially like eating on the deck if they allow you to. The problem is the surly wait staff. Countless times I have been treated like I was putting them out by just being there. The last time I went for breakfast, the waitress refused to seat me on the patio. I went to the front of the diner instead, and "Sharon" was my server. I was clearly putting her out by being there. Had breakfast here this morning. The waitress was nice but I personally felt uneasy. They didn't follow guidelines from the governor with the 50% or less and could have don't better with seating and mask protection. When you first walk into the restaurant everyone is sitting next to everyone and there is no space m, I'm happy they are busy but it looks like it's at the cost of people's safety. The food came out warm, not hot warm, and cold fast. If it came out hot it would have been great but I heard it was going to be better and it wasn't. Our waitress had her mask on her chin when interacting with everyone. Including myself. Then when a group of 4 comes in all masked up and she does fix her mask and then proceeds to direct them where to sit and getting very person, touching the customer's trying to be friendly, but they even seemed uncomfortable with it. So, they seem to be trying there best with what's going on but there is always room for improvement and hopefully things stay busy and are safe at the same time so things can go back to normal for everyone. But the mask thing did concern me the most the woman was working hard but not for the safely of others just the serving I wish I got to see both this morning. read more

Why folks think this horrible place is a mecca for "good homemade food" is way beyond me. First off, service is crap. I went in the 1st time and was ignored for over 15 minutes. Lot of strange "locals" that stare at you like you were in the movie Deliverance. Many old waitress' that look like they were sold with the building back in the early 60's, and many are wearing shirts, and well, uh, they shouldn't be wearing that stuff. If you like funky this is your place. Don't eat in dining room on the street, rather take the "ramp" to the rear restaurant along the creek. it's a lot of fun and the breakfast and lunch fare is very good. It's not high end but hey it's tough to screw up a breakfast. We love taking guests there because we like the casual atmosphere and the location along the creek. The menu selection is extensive and the food is good. The coffee is just OK but they keep the mugs full. We've always had good service and the wait staff, while usually busy, has been pleasant. They only take cash so be advised and the restroom is in the front dining room. It can get crowed on weekend mornings and sometimes the wait can be long so be advised. read more

The location is good and I like to support local independent restaurants but our breakfast experience was less than satisfying this morning. My son's pancakes were so tough on the outside that they bent his fork, his eggs and hash brown were barely warm and his hot coco was watery and bland. The rest of us had an experience that was little better. Our waitress was less than friendly. I know to expect old school, bare bones service from a classic diner but come on make an effort. I now feel guilty for refusing my son's request for breakfast at McDonalds. read more

I just love the food and the ambiance of this small diner. The staff have always been friendly and attentive. The only negative was the very first time I ate at this establishment I went to pay by credit card and they said they didn't take credit cards. I was surprised because there was no notice at the door when we came in that it was cash only. Even if it is written on the menu all I was looking at were the meal selections. Another person in my party had to stay there as I went next door to the ATM at the bank to get cash. But now I go prepared with cash in wallet. I would recommend this little diner to anyone. The food it is believed gave 2 people in my family food poisoning and one is in the hospital in Prescott. Been to Prescott 40 times, never here. This is confirmed by Doctors at YRMC. Like Sandi B's review food was not cooked properly. I am aware this is a serious remark.But so is being admitted to hospital for food u eat, that is the only item that made 2 people very sick,while the 1 that did not eat there is fine. I was trained as Food Manager and the food and the effects have all the classic and real items that spell trouble. I've been supporting your business since I was just a little thing, but I have to say those days are over after the waitress basically KICKED US OUT for staying after our breakfast & chatting with our family who we never get to see! Seriously, she said, "We have people waiting, so you really need to leave." I've been eating here since the 80's, and though I no longer live in Prescott, we go every time I visit. The Dinner Bell has never failed in delivering amazing food. They have never even wavered in their amazingness. This is THE home of the cinnamon roll of all cinnamon roles. The menu is extensive and everything is fresh made. They use high quality meats and eggs, and you can taste the difference. The service is always good, even when they are slammed. What's really amazing is how they can be so local and familiar with regulars, while remaining open and friendly to the infrequent diners. It's not fancy, but you are going there for the outstanding food and the spirit of the place, so who cares. read more

Bad food, rude service and way too pricey for what you get. Granted, we arrived at 1 pm and they close at 2 but since I pay the same as someone who arrived earlier I expect the same quality. I have no doubt that the latte that was made for me was nothing but warmed milk and weak leftover coffee. My husbands egg salad sandwich on toast had only the top pc of bread toasted. We ordered 3 veggie burgers, 1 with no mayo, so no one got mayo. We were never asked what side items we wanted with our sandwiches even though there were a few choices, we were just given fries. Always trying something different here, we decided to have some breakfast at the Dinner Bell. The place is like an old dive diner, which I do like. Just makes you feel comfortable. The staff was nice and the service was not bad but the food was awful. We ordered ham and eggs & bacon and eggs. The ham had a horrible flavor, the bacon was dried out, hard and awful.
