I went here for lunch today as I decided I needed to treat myself a bit. I had read all the reviews and thought it was worth a shot since I'm sort of broke but I wanted something more than just the same mediocre fast food. The place was pretty busy because it was lunch time, but my food came out quickly and quite delicious. The burger was the perfect diner burger- pressed a bit, medium-well/well done, and flavorful. Maybe it's just me, but I like my burgers more well done. I feel it brings out the meaty flavor and lets the meat soak up the moisture of the condiments instead of becoming a soggy mess that most "gourmet" burgers can become. They also put all toppings on the side so I'm not stuck picking out the myriad of pickles and pulling everything else out with them. All total I got a cheeseburger, fries, and a soda for around $7.70. I was fully satisfied, you get free refills, and the service was great. Yeah the soda fountain only has 2 "real" soda brands (7Up and Dr. Pepper), but it's only a buck fifteen for a soda so who cares? I'd definitely come back for more. I used to go here once or twice a week when I worked nearby. I believe the family owned restaurant is Greek owned. They have a few Mediterranean dishes but mainly have Italian dishes and burgers. I had a few of the Italian dishes and found them pretty average. The burgers were better. I usually ordered the California burger which had crispy bacon and avocado. I recommend that as well. Dinos is located across the Safeway plaza, besides Star Bread, by four corners plazas at Newark Blvd & Jarvis. Food: pasta with alfredo or red sauce with meat, etc; and sandwiches such as tuna, burgers, and a veggie one. There's also a soup for the day. I do like the special, crab sandwich ***(comes with salad). I haven't had the pastas. The portions are hearty for me. Weekday lunch time does get busy. Worth to wait when its made fresh. It is the only American diner in this section of Newark. The food is consistent & fresh, staff is nice, and the decor is reminiscent of a diner with checkered flooring. Best time to go is before the lunchtime rush or order ahead. The staff is nice. My 4-star review is primarily because its a great neighborhood mom & pop cafe, not a commercialized box restaurant. I would definitely come again & again. Just a note, this place is diner and it does get busy. I would recommend this place for a casual eat in place. Noise level does get noisy. With a basic decent size menu, there's something on the menu to suite your needs. Everything I've tried from burgers to fries to zucchini sticks are good. Drink Fountain available for refills. Food is served hot. This restaurant is clean and filled with really nice employees. Prices for the amount of food you get can be their downfall. And also we hunt down the napkins. read more

This place is a "must go to" family business. The food is amazing and the service is always on point. They really take care of you especially when you become a regular and get to know them and them you. I give them (10) stars for the food and service! They have a big selection of options from American to Italian to Greek and in between. The food here is fresh and good. They are always packed at lunch often with lines out the door - a very good sign for such a place! It may look like your typical diner but it's far from it. Support this family business but also go here for their great tasty food! I recommend the burgers, salads and Italian food but you can't go wrong with any of the food they serve! All I can say is OMG OMG this place is my new favorite spot.. I have never eaten a Greek burger but the owner Yanni said u must try it, and yes indeed it was so good, my husband had the Caesar salad with chicken, I also ate half of that.. Then the owner brought me some pumpkin spice cake that just made my day.. Please come try this place clean and friendly and the food is really really good.. Average quality and average cost, food does not stand out. You have to be very specific when ordering, sometiimes the burgers are raw (bun soaked in blood) and sometimes they are well done, if your not specific it will always change. The cooks seem to be in a race, they rush the food out and the quality is really suffering. Great place to take older people. read more

I used to love coming here to eat. Food was always great, I stuck to my 3 favorite dishes. Last time I ordered food for pick up, I had eaten half of my chicken sandwich already and when I went to pick up the other half from the container it came in, there was a piece (about a dime size) of raw ground meat! I immediately put my food down and was so disgusted! This is extremely wrong and careless! This is food contamination! I called Dinos right away and asked to speak to the manager, the register lady who answered the phone was rude and didn't want to give the phone to anyone. She told me they had no manager and only the owner who she kept refusing to give them the phone. I told her what I had found on my food and she took it very lightly and said "so you want to bring it back".. I said No! I am calling to tell you what happened! she continued to say, "well, do you want your money back" I said yes! She said instead of having me drive back, she could pull up my order and refund it like that. She was able to. This experience made me have a different outlook on this place. Food was always delicious and staff was always very nice. This rude lady who answered the phone could've handled the situation better and be understanding. She needs to learn some customer service skills. Thanks to her and the raw piece of meat on my plate, I'm better off avoiding this place. I haven't been back since this happened.. about 3-4 months ago, and I don't plan to anytime soon. read more

I have been a fan of Dino's Grill for as long as I can remember. I haven't had a bad meal yet. My favorite is the Greek Chicken sandwich and their House Salad. They make the Italian salad dressing homemade so it is always fresh. So yummy! The owners are very friendly and really care about making their customers happy. read more

Drool. Nice little diner with lots of options. It was pretty crowded here at around lunch time which, in my book, is always a good sign. The menu is pretty extensive here (burgers, sandwiches, pasta, salads, gyros, fries,...). If you're craving it, they probably have it. It's good and satisfying comfort food. Portions are large and freshly prepared. I would recommend the the gyros wich are hot, mouth-watering, and flavorful in a chewy pita. Burgers/sandwiches/gyros come with crispy hot french fries. The food in this restaurant is very nice, I order the first pasta in the menu, and it tastes very good, they also give two piece of fried bread as free, it tastes good too, but forgive my small stomach, I can't eat them all. Dino's Grill is such a gem in the Newark community! Their family like service bodes well with their yummy food! I like how I have so many choices between burgers, salads, pastas, and even gyros! I usually order the California burger (a fave with many Dino diners) or some fettuccini! The burgers are always juicy and bursting with flavor and the fries that accompany it are hot and crispy. Their pastas are great too, it's definitely a large portion that you can share between two. If you want a good ol burger with great service I definitely recommend Dino's :) read more
