Dippin Dots are so fun to eat! There's a wide variety of flavours, and some are mixed with "toppings," like oreo pieces or chocolate bits. They let you mix multiple flavours in a cup, making it easy to share a larger one with friends! My favorite is the banana split, but a lot of them are pretty good. Definitely try a sample before ordering! The girl working here was super nice and lets us sample a good few before ordering. :) I like that they have a storefront in Monterey, as I only see Dippin Dots sold in theme parks now. So sad! They kept him occupied even at the counter so I can get things organized. They also knew their flavors I asked what Rainbow Ice tasted like and they didn't hesitate to tell me it tastes like Popsicles. They were correct. Well, then, we grew up and then Dippin' Dots was no more because we didn't frequent Marine World. And you know what? They didn't sell Dippin' Dots anywhere. Devastation. My best friend and I had just finished up at the aquarium (yay awesome!) and began to peruse the stores all around. We came across (to my utter disbelief and surprise) Dippin' Dots!!! I came on yesterday with my son for a special mother son day. He was so excited and we didn't stay long and would not come back. Time of visit: 1:45 pm Cleanliness: chairs stacked on the tables when we came in, allowing limited seats for guests... entrance need mopped and liked at the floor as whole and it was disgusting ... unsanitary conditions for service staff.. throwing a cone on the counter when a customer changed their mind and it fell on the floor he picked it up and then put it back in the stack for the next stack Staff: Only one guy working who was obviously pissed that he had to work that day!! A family of 4-5 was in front if us. The last person was trying to figure out what he wanted and the guy grabbed a cup to get prepared to scoop, but all hell broke looked as the young man ordered a root beer float! The cup of vanilla beads of ice cream get slammed down on the back counter and the then the next can of root beer gets opened the put in thrown in the main counter with the spoon to the customer. It was about one of the rudest moments I have seen!! At that time my son(13) looked and said "let's go mom! It's so dirty in there I can't eat here. I don't want to get sick and that guys that works here is an ass!" I couldn't agree more. I am so sorry for the people here visiting on vacation to see what people shouldn't be like! Management: you need to check you employees and provide some customer service training! I left a bad review on Google 6 months ago and since nothing has changed, I, unfortunately have to leave another one here. I love Dippin Dots or else I'd give up on this place, but they keep on disappointing me. The problem tonight was the same as my previous Google review, which is I checked the company's site, Google, and Yelp, and the closing time (for a Saturday) was listed as either 8 or 9 pm depending on the site. However, I got there at 7:10 pm, and they were closed. If I had any other Dippin Dots option, I would not come back here, but since they are the only one around for hundreds of miles, I just have to keep trying until they're open. What doesn't help is that neither entrance has business hours, and since the internet hours are clearly not accurate, I'm not sure when they're open. Located a couple of storefronts on Cannery Row, very close to the Nestle's Cafe, you can get Dipping Dots ice cream if you don't like the Dreyer's served at the Nestle's Cafe. I think a former dessert place must've been at this site as you ascend a flight of stairs up and find some chairs on both sides of the staircase and the ice cream counter in front. It looks like the place hasn't been remodeled recently. The floors are significantly stained with food residue, in other words, looks like they've not washed the floors in a while. Working behind the counter is a teen and older woman. They claim to have 20 flavors, This is the first Dipping Dot storefront I've ever seen. Usually you find DDs at theme parks like Disneyland, Great America, Marine World and Disney World. The prices are comparable, a small cup is a little over $4.00 and the larger one is $5.25. I have to say that these tiny morsels of ice cream don't melt quickly and they do have fun and colorful flavors. A shout-out to my fellow Yelpers, Froyo boy, Matt and "You know you love her" Froyo girl, Lolia, will be disappointed to know they do not serve FroYo here. read more

Whenever I make a trip down to Cannery Row, I always have to stop in here. Even though I know its totally overpriced but helllllo, its the ice cream of the future! Is that even their slogan still? Anyhow, I love the vintage feel in the joint and all the folks behind the counter are super helpful and nice. When I came in I was so excited I picked flavors before I even noticed there was more flavors, including coffee flavors on the other side! I got a small, half cookies and cream and half mint choco for $4.95 and the BF got this dippin dots and ice cream cookie sandwich, dont remember how much but both our orders came to about $10. This place is so awesome. If you don't know what Dippin' Dots are then you obviously lived under a rock in the 90's. Dippin' Dots are probably filled with chemicals, but since I only have them once a year if I'm lucky then I think its okay. Came here for a quick, refreshing dessert after visiting the aquarium. This place is pretty standard and offers a variety of yummy flavors -- for example, mint chip, birthday cake. The line moved very quickly, and we could even try samples. Though the space is somewhat limited and the store is a bit run down, there is also some seating in the inside for you to sit down, chat, and enjoy your dessert. I was surprised to first hear that there was actually a Dippin' Dots store because I'm so used to seeing the carts around amusement parks only. We got the rainbow ice (classic) and the banana split (arguably the best invention ever) in the regular size. Total came out to about $12 or $13. But if you're feeling adventurous I saw flavors here that I've never seen before such as kettle corn and a couple caramel infused flavors. After working at an amusement park that served dippin' dots during my teenage years, I feel a sort of connection with these little pellet-sized super frozen treats. I remember how little kids and adults alike used to gravitate towards the carts that sold these ice cream treats and fork over $3 (back then) for small cups of either vanilla, chocolate or banana split and then spill most of it while walking away or trying to spoon some in their mouths. So years have gone by and like an old friend, I slowly drifted away from these little guys. But after reading up on the Monterey area and planning a weekend trip, my significant other saw this place and how it had "something like 20 or 30 flavors!" and had to check it out. 30 flavors eh? Wasn't that Baskin...nevermind, thats 31. Another previous teenage employer...but I digress. So we found this little shop, oddly enough missing past the main street entrance (it is right by the closed off construction section of Cannery Row) but found it near the Starbucks entrance and walking through a weird hallway. Eh...closer to 15-20 flavors than 30 but still way more than I had ever seen: Strawberry cheesecake, chocolate mint, oreo chip, moose track, liberty ice, lemonaid and of course banana split. The also had a wide array of soda drinks, some ice cream sandwiches and some clothing line. We were a little floored by the price of $4.50 for the smallest and $5.50(ish) for the slightly larger size. If melted down and formed into traditional ice cream scoops, the smallest would equal maybe 1.5 scoops so it is a bit more than say, Baskin Robbins. Inside, although empty, I could see this place as an after dinner desert spot. You know, one of those places where you'd see a little league baseball team after a game or large groups of people. For an ice cream shop, its pretty big. There was a jukebox although it didn't play and lots of old vintage concert posters up. Maybe it was the colors, decorations or something...but the soda jerk-style theme didn't translate. Came across more odd than cozy...but thats just me. Overall, if you've never tried dippin' dots, this would be the place to go since there are plenty of flavors to choose from. I'm not sure if they allow you to sample as most ice cream places do (I didn't see any small sample spoons) but for under $5, you can try it out. Oh man dippin' dots! I haven't had one in years! Had to get some even though it was freezing outside! They're very generous with their samples. I think we had 5 before we actually chose one to buy. Hahaha! There's quite a few tables for you to sit down and eat your DD. Not surprised that we were the only ones in there that day. They had a jukebox playing and I went to check it out. They have a sign that said that only employees can touch it. They also had pictures of famous people hanging on their walls. I thought that was pretty cool. I hadn't had dippin' dots in years (my bf had never had them at all!) when we ran across this place in Cannery Row. I had just watched a learning channel show that showed how they were invented and where they're made (Paducah, KY) so it was fun to stop by and try them out again. I love the cute dots on the wall telling you which way to go when you're inside that little shopping area next door. There's an entrance to it on the street as well. They're definitely pricey as the last reviewer wrote but you're paying for the novelty! The strawberry was the best in my opinion and they're fun to eat until they start to melt then you just wanna toss the rest (or I did at least). Next time I'm in the area I'm sure I'll go back. If I could give NO STARS, I would. First of all, the steps up to the place & then floors are filthy. And not just day of stains. These are caked on, black stains that have been there for a while. I'm afraid to even see what the back of the store looks like if the space customers see is this bad. I walked around with my 2 year old to find a flavor for her, and I saw birthday cake. When I asked the girl worker what's in it, she says "Uh, birthday cake." And looks at her co worker standing next to her and rolls her eyes IN PLAIN SIGHT. Ummmm, excuse me? I know you are young, and probably don't like your job, but be professional. You have some nerve acting that way. And after that I was telling my party what was happening, and she had the nerve to just be looking over with this smug look.
