A previous plumbing company came and fixed a drain problem we were having but created another problem when they put the toilet back on the seal. We keep getting a small puddle of water around the base of the toilet that we never had prior to the previous plumber visit . When Dirty Plumber came to look at the issue, he insisted it was just condensation and refused to do anything about it. He's never getting our business again. Btw, if you read Jack's comment below, you would think he could put two and two together and realize its our landlord who made the decision to call a different plumber to fix the problem, not our decision. read more

I just received my invoice from Dirty Plumber today while Jack was rapping up my job, and I have to say, I feel ripped off. $460 for hooking up a sink, faucet, garbage disposal, dishwasher, and gas range. Everything but the dishwasher and gas range were items I already had in my home, but, nevertheless, both of those items were already installed but not hooked up. While this might sound like a big job, how hard is it for a plumber to hook up a gas range and plug it in? Faucets, sinks, garbage disposals and dishwashers, shouldn't be a big deal for a plumber. My own 72 year old family member hooked up his new Bosch dishwater in 20 minutes, his gas range in 10 minutes and told me since he put in all of his own appliances of the same type as mine, that it took him (72 years young) two hours max. That said, I've heard that Dirty Plumber charges for drive time and going to our local plumbing supply for materials to the tune of $88 dollars per hour. Shouldn't you have basic materials for basic jobs on your truck. And how many materials do you need when most of the appliances come with materials needed to hook them up? I got a 4 hour labor charge for today's work and he was thee for barely 3 hours. Shopping for parts isn't that labor intensive. Shouldn't you bring your hourly rate down a notch from $88 to something more reasonable when your "shopping" for stuff that should already be on your truck? Dirty Plumber was brought out to my job because my cabinet maker recommended him and set it up. I must say, that when I have called a plumber in the past, one that I trust, who has a long good standing within my community, they charge me per job not per hour and they have all materials on hand in their well equipped trucks. I have a worker in my home that was there while Dirty Plumber was on my job. Jack told her how he always responds to negative yelp adds and always has to explain his rates to customers. I've never felt ripped off by my normal plumber , and never in my life have I felt compelled to write such a lengthy review. There is a first time for everything. read more

After reading all the great reviews I decided to give Dirty Plumber a try for a water heater installation. On the positive side, he really does seem to know his stuff. I believe I got a quality installation from an experienced plumber. On the negative side I had four main issues that keep me from recommending him: First, when he arrived the first thing he did was say the water heater i had gotten was total garbage. In fact, he said everything from lowes and home depot was total garbage. When a customer already has something, what's the point of doing that? Second, my Job was quoted as a flat rate job and when it was done I was told the price was the same as I had been quoted so I wrote a check. He said he didn't have receipts so he'd have to drop one off later. However, the next day he called and said he needed basically 25% more money for the cost of the parts. He said he didn't tell me because he didn't have the parts receipts. Which makes no sense since he left my house to buy the parts and came back with the parts. Regardless, coming back the next day for more money on a flat rate job when no one, I'm mean no one, told me the price was going to go up for parts, isn't okay in my book. Third, I ignored the fact he chewed and spit tobacco in my house because he covered the floor where he was working. However, as he was leaving and everything seemed good, bythe front door, he turned around twice as we were talking and spit on a rose bush of mine. What knd of manners is that? Fourth, the effective price per hour was essentially $150, before the demand for more money. Really? Net, if you are okay with a tobacco spitting, price inflating, very expensive, product bashing plumber, I whole heartedly recommend him. For me though, I will be using a different plumber in the future. read more

I scheduled an appointment for Jack to install a thermostatic mixing valve to squeeze more hot water out of our water heater that was too small to properly fill our garden tub that my wife uses religiously. I had done my research and was very specific about what we wanted. Jack showed up within the two hour window as promised and realized shortly after that although he had the mixing valve he did not have some of the more standard parts to make the connection to the water heater. He left to pick up parts for about 45 minutes, returned and did excellent work installing it; he is a real craftsman with copper. He spent about 2 hours and 15 minutes installing it which was reasonable seeing the work he had to do. I was also BS'ing with him the entire time which didn't help him get done any sooner. In the end I was charged parts and 3 hours labor which included his trip to the parts store which is the only thing I had ANY heartburn about. In my opinion, if his truck wasn't stocked with what he needed for the day it really shouldn't have been on my dime. I'm a surveyor by trade and if I send a crew to a job site and they don't have enough materials to get the job done I can't charge them to go back to the shop and pick them up. I might feel differently if he had come across something unexpected or I hadn't been specific on what we were looking to accomplish. In the end he was a great guy, very professional and did excellent work. He will be the guy I call when I need a plumber again. read more

Jack installed a gas line in our backyard for our BBQ and firepit a couple years ago. My wife and I got a few quotes and opinions from a few plumbers, but we immediately felt comfortable with Jack, and trusted him to do the job. We ran into some problems due to other contractors' work in our backyard, but Jack took care of the problem solving and ended up taking care of it for us. I called Dr. Plumber for a leak I had in an upstairs bathroom. I had heard from a friend that he had had a very good experience with this company and that I should call. I spoke to Jack, the owner, who made an immediate appointment for me. He arrived on time in a clean, beautiful truck. Within a few minutes he had found the leak. Not only did he fix the plumbing problem, he also fixed the problem that we had with these little gnats that had found a home in the wet insulation between the walls. Jack carefully removed the insulation, dried everything out and brought in a perfectionist to repair the drywall. You can't even tell there was a problem. Jack clearly cares about his business and his customers. I've meant to write something about Dr. Plumber for about six weeks, since Jack and his assistant replaced my water heater, pronto, same day, last month, and I don't live in a very convenient part of Reno. They drove away somewhere, at mid-afternoon, and were back with the water heater an hour or so later. By then it was late in the day, but they went right to work and got the job done. Jack was courteous and efficient, and even moved a couple of pipes to better, cleaner locations on the garage wall as he replaced the tank. We have had him fix a failed pressure regulator, replaced toilet wax ring (leaking when flushed), flush valve and water line, tighten loose fittings, replaced the garbage disposer and improved the drain lines from the dishwasher and other sink to drain efficiently, and repaired/replaced two faulty bathroom sink faucets (manufacturer warranty replacement). I am a 63 year old man that served the US Government 8 years in both Afghanistan and Iraq destroying weapons: I believe honesty and kindness are important in all business and life: If I had saw my review as below I would never have used this plumber: Now that my honest review has not been posted for others to know about this company I guess I will not be able to trust YELP for reviews. A case on Dirty Plumber for the incident below was filed with the Better Business Bureau and Dirty Plumber has not replied to the complaint. This is not service. Update on the problem as below: Since Dirty Pluming would not recheck their work: I a 63 year old had to climb on my 2 story home roof and clear my vent stack for a bath that was causing the problem. In short Dirty Plumbing totally Miss-Diagnosed the Problem and was not truthful about finding roots in the system. I would guess if Dirty Plumbing manipulates the truth on plumbing issues they probably manipulate the Reviews on YELP. I challenge YELP to Print this Honest Review. I will mention the review process and miss information when I close the record with the BBB to include YELP not printing this honest review for others to see! I will never use a service that YELLS at My Family when a request was made to reevaluate work that was not complete and thorough. Called on the weekend left a message. Called first thing Monday. Again, they came out could not come out the first day but did make room the second day. They did the work cleaned the drain with a power drain snake and then ran the snake to see if there were roots (he commented there were next to none only got about a golf ball sized soft vegetation - he also commented not an issue) and I ran all the water valves to helkp fuls the lines. I am a person that spent almost 8 years in Afghanistan and Iraq and the company advertisement said they appreciated that service and would provide pricing and service showing the appreciation.. About a week after I started to hear the gurgling again. I kept runing the sink and showers longer to make sure the plumbing was working. I did not want to bother this company (I tried to trust their work) until I was certain there was a problem anbout 2 weeks to 2 1/2 weeks the problem became evident. The back bath toliet would not drain properly. Since I had to go to work the next moring I had my brother call: he was witness to my assisting and the previous work. The person contacted (identified himself as the owner and lied to my brother saying the line was clogged with roots. (I bought the home in 2010 all the trees near the line were dead in 2010 and plus there were no roots found when the work was done. I had my brother call back and explain the work as I described above and that he was not correct or mistaken about the roots. When the owner was confronted wiith the facts from my observations and talks with him when he did the work the first time he immediately became MAD SCREAMED AND YELLED AT MY BROTHER and hung up. I suspect these other reviews must be false. This is as bad a service and worst personal treatment I have received in America since I returned from Afghanistan and Iraq. I am highly disappoint and now will try and find a reputable and considerate firm. I will never use this firm again and now will report them to the Better business Bureau.. Bob+ read more

I looked for a good permanent plumber due to the fact I have had too many issues with big companies in the past. Jack and his buddy did a wonderful job. If you have little kids, you will understand they like to flush things. In this case, it was a Danactive cup. The pipe snake could not get it out, so these gentlemen pulled the toilet, managed to get it into my shower without damaging anything, and found the evil little piece of plastic. Jack and his Helper then helped upgrade the water source hose to the toilet, and he did his very best to ensure the toilet was as tight as possible to a plastic flange. He also replaced a faulty valve/floater assembly in the tank right on the spot. They cleaned everything up well, they were always polite and professional, and the key here is THOROUGH. We had a leaky copper pipe that caused a huge mess in our bathroom. Apparently, when our home was being built, a construction worker nicked the pipe with a nail. Over time, the area rusted out, and became a leak 20 years in the making. Our home insurance company had a disaster cleanup company assess the problem, and they recommended a (different) plumber. However, since I had a good experience with Jack previously for a different issue, I called him again for this problem. He got back to me within one day. It was one week before he was able to show up so if you have an emergency, you probably are best with a company. I needed a leaking pipe fixed outside and a new garage disposal and leaks under my kitchen sink fixed...and he did everything on the spot ( going out of his way to get the disposal and some parts) within a few hours.
