I was getting ready to sell my house and needed to have a leak repaired. I tried calling a couple of other plumbers and they made promises that they could get the work done but then never followed through. A fellow Yelper recommended Dirty Plumber. I had to leave a couple messages (he is a one man shop with an answering service) before he called me back but when we connected on a Thursday 12/14, he was able to schedule me for the following Tuesday 12/19. I had made plans to leave town on that Friday so I was really counting on Jack to help me. The apointment was set for 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Jack called me at 10:50 to say he was on his way and arrived 15 minutes later at 11:05. So far, so good. He quickly discovered the problem and showed me the cracked pipe within 15 miniutes of his arrival. He needed to go to Western Supply to make sure he got the right part in order to prevent any unforeseen problems. He returned 45-60 minutes later, made the necessary repairs without having to make any concessions. Jack was friendly and professional and I was comfortable having him in my home. I recently discovered a hot water pipe leak and called them seeing their good reviews on yelp. The dry-wall was already cut open and I exactly described the leak (leaking at joint between pex pipe and copper pipe). I asked if they can come and inspect and give an estimate which they do not. The technician showed up, inspected and then immediately said he needed to get parts from his sparks shop and took around 40 minutes to get back that was charged at $118 per hour. They also added a fuel surcharge even if my house was within their service area. So they charged me 2 hours out of which 40 minutes was for getting the parts from their sparks shop even after i had exactly described where the leak was. They also start charging from the time the technician leaves from their earlier job and not when he show's up at the customers house. I would find a different company for my future plumbing needs. UPDATE: After checking my cameras, it was actually 50 minutes to get the parts and 15 minutes to arrive at the home and all was charged as labor time. I live in southwest Reno. I did mention pex o-ring (instead of pex expansion ring) but also mentioned it was a leak at the joint between the pex pipe and copper pipe and the pex ring needs to be replaced. While i did not mention the exact part name (I am not a plumber!), I believe to have provided enough information to understand the issue. The parts used were 5" of 3/4" copper pipe and 3/4" brass - pex adapter and both are in stock at local lowes that is 7-8 minutes from my home. Also, i don't think i could have denied the service after the in house estimate as the charge time had already started when the plumber left his previous job and there is a 1 hour minimum charge. read more

Very knowledgeable plumber that takes great pride in his work! I needed a water line installed for a refrigerator I recently bought. Jack gave me a few different options on how to go about it and explained the pros and cons of each. I felt that I was able to make a good, informed decision on how to go about the work. As Jack went about his work he ran into a few roadblocks, as my new house did not always have appropriately skilled people working on it over the years. He was always able to adjust and recommended good alternatives; a true testament to his experience. I'm very, very impressed with Jack's abilities. He did the work in a reasonable amount of time. He tested his work as he went along. He explained what he was doing along the way in terms simple enough for anyone to understand. When all was said and done, the bill came out a bit less than I expected- especially for the amount of work he had to do to complete the job the right way. Additionally, Jack just really seems like a good guy. No-nonsense, honest, personable, and nice to my dog. My wife really liked him too, and she does not normally like people she doesn't know in the house. He had been out of town when I first tried to contact him, but I'm sure glad I waited based on his other reviews here. I can say with absolute certainty I will be calling Jack with any of my other plumbing needs. The only downside is Jack uses an answering service as he's a one-man company. The answering service certainly leaves something to be desired. You may need to be a tad persistent to break through, but once Jack gets your message he will return it. I was in the process of turning on my sprinkler system when I found out the valve in the ground was stripped. I contacted a couple of plumbers and they all charged a service fee to come out and look at the job. I had one company come out and give me a quote. So I called the Dirty Plumber next. A receptionist answered and I told her about my problem. 10 minutes later I received a call from Jack (owner) and he gave me a quote over the phone. It has been over a week now since Jack completed work at our home. We had the original shower faucet / valve replace in our master bath. The original was leaking and I was unsuccessful in finding a replacement cartridge. I also was not clear on where the main water shut off valve was and I honestly didn't have time to do the work myself. I placed the project out for bid to local plumbers in the area. I then compared prices as well as reviews in BBB and Yelp. Dr. Plumber was slightly lower than others in price, but the deciding factor was he had more positive reviews in Yelp as well as responding in a professional manner the negative review. Notes: Jack worked with me on schedule accommodating me when I had to cancel the first agreed to date-n-time and I did the same for him when the second date-n- time didn't work for him. He was prompt in contacting me during the entire process. He showed up on time to perform the work and was completed within the time he stated in the original quote. He brought all the necessary tools and equipment to perform the work. He had covers to place in the work area where he placed his tool and other equipment on. The work area was clean when he was completed with the project. Since he was going to do work that required the use of a propane torch he took precaution proving his own fire extinguisher, which I noted was charged fully. He also took the time to show me in my home where the main water shutoff valve was and how if needed replace the cartridge in my new valve. We had only one misstep where the new valve he used was not the one we had discussed, however he pointed out the error by showing me his original notes in the quote and he offered to make amends by lowering the original price accordingly based on the difference in the type of valve used. I decided that based on his work, professionalism, and the fact that since he showed me where the main water shutoff vale for my home was as well as how to replace the new valve cartridge if needed that the original valve unit I requested didn't make much sense. I paid Jack the original agreed quote amount. It is important in any community to support local business owners and our family tries to do so when we can. I encourage anyone reading this review to do the same. Based on my first experience with Jack, Dr. Plumber will be my first choice for all future plumbing needs. I help my daughter take care of her rental property and her property had a leaky hose bib underneath the deck. The bib was hard to get to to shut it off and needed to be relocated. I don't know if plumbing companies don't like to go into crawl spaces but I received 2 other bids for the job and They both were over $1000.00. I called Dirty Plumber and although they didn't come out he gave me an estimate of under $600.00. I told him that I wanted copper piping and he said no problem that they charge $175.00 an hour plus materials. At first I was somewhat skeptical because he didn't look at the job however the owner who I assumed I was talking to knew how long a job like that would take. Dirty plumber arrived on the job wearing a face mask and being very personable, his name was Henry K. Henry within 20 minutes got all of his supplies, tools organized and proceeded under the house to relocate hose bib. Within 2 hours the job was completely finished and no more leaky faucet and relocated with copper piping. The job total was $400.00. Less than what was quoted and way less than my other 2 bids. Henry was quick, and extremely knowledgeable in plumbing. I will certainly recommend this Company to anyone with plumbing needs. A previous plumbing company came and fixed a drain problem we were having but created another problem when they put the toilet back on the seal. We keep getting a small puddle of water around the base of the toilet that we never had prior to the previous plumber visit . When Dirty Plumber came to look at the issue, he insisted it was just condensation and refused to do anything about it. He's never getting our business again.
