I came here a few months ago to purchase a new set of tires. After getting a nail in one of them, I called to see if they could patch it. They said it wouldn't be a problem, so I headed over. When I arrived, I was told they were a little busy, which I completely understood. There was only one customer ahead of me who hadn't been started yet, so I expected it might take a little while. Thankfully, there's a small outdoor shopping area within walking distance, so we decided to spend some time there while we waited. After about an hour, I called to check on the status. I called again around the two-hour mark, and each time we were told it wasn't quite ready. Just before the three-hour mark, we started walking back to the shop, only to be told that my car had actually been finished and they had simply forgotten to call me. After waiting 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment, I was told they would not be doing my oil change. What is the point of offering appointments if you don't honor them? There was no courtesy call, no apology ahead of time, and no real effort to accommodate me after I had already waited. Two other customers were also waiting and left after seeing how this was handled. This was extremely unprofessional and a complete disregard for my time. Needed to have my right rear tire checked out on a Toyota Corolla. It was shaking while I was driving according to nice strangers on the road who told me so at a stoplight. I was able to get an appointment really fast at this place. The mechanics showed me my tire spinning oblong and indicated that the driver of the car had to have hit something, like a curb, to cause the wheel to be out of whack. Late on a Friday afternoon, I discovered what I thought was a tire with low pressure was actually a tire about to be a complete flat due to a huge nail. I started to freak out as I was a half hour away from home and many of the Torrance / Gardena mechanic shops were closing. I used to go to "Discount Tire Centers" in Woodland Hills, but relocated close to this location. I thought them one and the same, but no. The "& Service" in the names make it different. Mike was very friendly and not only did not charge me anything to fix the nail in the tire, which surprised me, he waited for me after 5:00 PM. On January 25th, I drove into my vehicle's dealership w/a huge screw in one tire and the others with minimal tread. Of course, the dealership wanted to charge an arm and a leg. I yelped tire shops nearby and I found my buddy, Craig Y's (He should be the yelp Baron of Gardena!) solid review so, I went to Discount Tires and was serviced by Carlos L at the counter whom I also spoke w/on the phone. Everything was explained thoroughly and courteously. Went to Rascal's Teriyaki next door during the wait and spent a little bit of time in the lobby. All 4 wheels are doing great. I've stopped by this Saturday to get my tire pressure check as I am a commuter with nitrogen air in the tires. My experience is much better here than at the dealership. They don't service as much volume so they can actually keep track of your car. Better customer service. Faster. Definitely more affordable. When you get tires here, you can have them come out to install your donut when you get a flat tire for free for 2 yrs anywhere in the US and Canada. They also rotate your tires for free every 5K. I have been doing business for years. Even before this location was a Discount Tire store! They have never let me down. For over 10 years they have been my go to provider of time for all of my vehicles. Today's visit was for a simple repair. My tire pressure sensor lit up. I took it in and had Mike and Victor inspect it. I left my truck with them and headed to work. They soon had it fixed, called me to pick the truck up. Normally the repair is a $35 charge. That fee was waived when I went back to pick up my truck. The truck is fine now. With much gratitude I thanked them for helping me. So I got a flyer in the mail from discount tires that said that they had moved from Artesia to Sepulveda Boulevard cross street Crenshaw, and in the advertisement there was a $24.66 synthetic oil change that was advertised. So I went over there on Monday and amazing I walked through the door and they look at me like I'm from another planet. The guy just sits behind the counter until you walk up to him and he says can I help you. I told him I want the $24.667 oil change, he says he can't do it that day but he can do it on another day. He said Tuesday is all booked up except for 3 PM. Can you come back at 3 PM on Tuesday. So I come back on Tuesday and another guy was wearing at discount tire shirt and sitting behind the computer says I have to get somebody to help you. He also looks at me like I'm from another planet like what are these people doing here? Guy comes in from the shop and he says are you gonna drop the car off or you gonna wait for it? I said well I was gonna wait for it. He said well I can't get it to you until 6 o'clock tonight. I said my appointment was at 3 PM and I was told it would only take an hour. He said yes that's true but we're shorthanded today and I can't get it done till 6 o'clock. So I walked out, and I decided Im going to take my car someplace else because of the lack of service and they're inability to take care of the customer when they promised me a certain time at least they had all my information they could've called me and said they backlog today and that if I could please come in on another day, that would've been the proper thing to do but I don't believe these people understand customer service. At this point, I don't know if I'll ever frequent this business at all. It surprises me that people who have to deal with the public complete lack of communication skills and service. read more
