I went to Discount Tire over 3 weeks ago after I hit something on the highway. I purchased two new tires, and was told that I damaged the wheel itself. They ordered a wheel for me and I went ahead and paid for it. I had to call numerous to times to get an update about when the wheel was available. It took 3 weeks for the wheel to come in. I go in today to get it put on, and after waiting nearly an hour and a half, I was told that the wheel had the wrong accent color and they will have to order another tire that will be here in an unknown amount of time. While the staff has been kind and apologetic, I'm frustrated that my time has been wasted and if I hadn't already paid for my wheel in full, I would definitely be taking my business elsewhere. read more

My rear drivers side tire kept losing air. Zack said to set make an appointment and they would check it out. They went above and beyond! They checked for leaks and for something in the tire, they smoothed off the chrome wheel, they even changed out my stem valve and checked for leaks again. They were awesome and they didn't charge me anything for all of that work. I've used Discount Tire for many years but this location is the best! It's on Coit at George Bush next to Sam's. It does not surprise me this location has a good rating. My first time here, they played it to me strait, told me I need a replacement. Then they showed me the best tires for it . Michael(their employee) was cool did and not try to offer the more expensive when he saw the less expensive had better traction. It was Saturday, so they were busy . He told me it would be an hour and fifteen minutes . It ended up being just over and hour. Nobody likes dealing with a auto issues, but they made it as painless as possible. On my way to work yesterday, my tire pressure warning came on just when I exited PGBT. It was a little after 8 am, so I detoured to Discount Tire. They had just opened and Daniel was happy to open the bay and fill up my tires for no charge. It was near freezing and I got to stay in my warm car without the frustration of searching for a working air compressor at gas stations. I mostly go to the Discount Tire in Little Elm as it's closer to my house and I have multiple vehicles with different tire needs. This is for my mistake in going to the Discount tire at Coit and George Bush near my office. Well, The normal service (which is great) friendly, helpful at the front desk as I have come to expect from a great business. Here is where they went wrong. And as nice and friendly as your customer service is always good. The technician did a horrible job "balancing" the tires and and they also... Forgot to put lug nuts on my wheel. the balancing thing, Okay, The forgetting the lug nuts in the same visit. Unacceptable. I'll go back to little elm where I have bought and installed thousands of dollars in tires without a hiccup. Just be cautious of the COIT/GB parkway location. read more

The service techs at this location are always pleasant and informative and usually the issue is resolved without too much time passing. Great staff! The upsell is always pretty intense but that's to be expected I guess. I've been a loyal customer for years until today. I had a screw puncture my tire and I needed help fast. The puncture was in a repairable position. Upon further inspection, I was notified that there was also a very small nail in the tread and that it was too close to the side wall to be repaired (approx 1.5" from the side wall). The tech brought the tire to me (off the rim) and told me that the nail had completely punctured the tire but when he tried to show me and I examined it, it could not be located by either of us. I was given the option of purchasing a new tire or a used tire and was told that the nail that supposedly went all the way through the tread (that neither of us could feel or find) was a liability and could not be repaired by plug or patch. And the original problem - the screw puncture was not repaired. I requested that my tire be put back on the rim and aired up so I could leave. Upon departure there was not enough air put in the tire and the low air pressure sensor was on. To top it off, they kept the custom valve stem cap that was originally there. EVERY SINGLE TIME I've used their services (6 or more over the years) my custom valve stem caps were removed and cheap plastic caps were put in their place. Because of the extreme pressure of upselling, the fact that the original valve stem caps are ALWAYS removed and replaced with flimsy plastic caps, and the fact that a non-repairable issue that can't be proven resulting in the only option being buy a new tire is enough for me to say "enough". I went 10 minutes down the road and had both the screw and nail holes repaired within 10 minutes for less than $20. read more

Yesterday, I went in to have all four of my tires replaced. I was told by a technician that one of the lug nuts was stuck and they would have to break it off to get the tire off. He stated that it should be able to run fine with 4 out of the 5 nuts. I don't know anything about cars so I assumed it was ok since he was the technician working on tires everyday. After leaving, I googled a couple of things and then took my car to the dealership for them to check it. The dealership stated, its not safe to drive on it long and that my car wouldn't pass state inspection. It cost me $312 to fix the tire! I'm pissed that I had to pay close to $900 for new tires and then have to pay another $300 to fix an issue a technician at Discount Tire made. Horrible experience!! I've contacted customer service and waiting on a resolution. Update: I was contacted by management at the store and he was very helpful with the matter and explain what should have happened if the lug but was stuck. No complaints about staff, all very nice people and they seem to always follow procedure from what I could tell. My complaint is about the accessibility of this location - there is no turn-in to the shop so the road forced me to get onto the tollway and I don't have a toll tag. Had to turn around and get on the tollway again. Ended up finding the entrance, but they don't have their own entrance to the shop, you have to enter at the place next to it. They definitely need a turn-in for easier access. I was pretty angry about being forced to get on the tollway, and scared because I had a low tire. Also I waited about an hour to have 1 tire replaced, and this location plays country music which some people (me) do NOT like at all. But again I liked the staff. read more

They had my vehicle ready in about an hour, but the way they treat their customers is superb! Was very impressed with their customer service and they are so quick to reassure they care about you. These guys are shysters. If you have a nail in your tire and need it plugged, don't take it here. Especially if you're female. They'll hard-sell you into buying new tires even if you don't need them. They claim to not have commissions, but obviously something else is going on under some other name. My wife took in her car before I arrived to pick her up. Previously I examined her treads, all tires about 3/8" to 1/4" remaining, and located the nail in tire center. Her salesguy claimed that basically all her tires were unsafe and he was already ringing her up a new tire; I'm glad I got there in time. I said that wasn't necessary and all we needed was a repair. He asked permission to mount the spare if they deemed the tire "unsafe." On our return (they hadn't bothered to call), the spare was mounted and that tire deflated with bead popped in trunk. They now claimed that there were "cracks" in the sidewall. Still hell-bent on making that tire sale. We took the wheel to another shop. They couldn't find said cracks, plugged the hole, re-mounted the tire, and the car drives fine. I'm stuck putting the spare away. We won't be going back to Discount Tire ever again. read more

I have been using discount tire religiously for decades! Just in front of a serious ice storm 2/15, discount tire was closed forcing me to install two badly needed tires on my wife's car from a competitor. Discount tire has been nothing but impossible to deal with ever since! Tried to get the tires rotated with discount and was told that the better tires were already on the rear, and didn't need to be rotated. I asked when the tires should be rotated, since the fronts were never going to be the tires that 'they' wanted on the back, and was not given a definitive answer! While getting a tire leak repaired on one of 'their' tires, I was told by Allen Coates that the competitor's tires needed to be replaced....with 16,000 miles on them! (65,000 mi. tires!) Looking at the tires, no one in their right mind would begin to think about replacing these tires! (4/32" tread depth, 15,000+ miles left - minimum!) Discount tire needs to fix their deviant ways if they want to be taken seriously! read more

I'm sitting here writing this review while they fix a flat on my girlfriend's car. Word of caution: there's no entrance to this place from George Bush Turnpike feeder road, only from Coit Rd. I made that mistake and the DT guys were nice enough to let me reverse, drive through grass, and hop a small curb to get to their parking lot. Otherwise, Preston is the next exit. Not gonna happen. I go here to get air in my tires. Each time I am always greeted by anyone that walks by my car. Today they were super busy so no one was out to greet us. I wasn't upset over that at all because you could clearly see everyone was doing something. Plus this service is FREE! Why would I complain? I bought tires here because tire purchases include tire repairs and rotation. Today, they claimed that ONE of my tires tread wear was too great and because of "safety" they refused to rotate my tires - unless of course I bought new tires to replace the partially worn tires. Complete BS. So they are telling me that they refuse to provide the service that I PAID for. And this is no safety issue, the tire is not worn down to the wear bars so no issue there. The reality is that the company creates policies that they can hide behind to 1) force you to buy more and 2) allow them to refuse service so they save money by servicing fewer cars. What a delightful, customer-centric company - NOT. I rotated my tires myself in my driveway. After a decade of business with these profiteers, never again. read more

It's alright. Never bought tires from this place, but I've been here enough to warrant out a few problems. Now for the most part, they'll do a good job on most of the services, and will refer you to a nice shop if something ever happens, like stripping studs. There's just tiny nitpicks I'd like to address that the other Discount Tire location I frequent doesn't do. I requested to get my TPMS sensors reprogrammed, and repeated that several times to the tech there. Told me he did, and when I got in the car, it was obvious he didn't. Meh, whatever, I'll just come by later. Other times, the techs don't remove their gloves when operating the vehicle, leaving the steering wheel and shift knob dirty with the gross crap that's often found on automobile parts and wheels. It could just be the newer folks working, but it is something worth noting. Other than that, all good in terms of service. 7/10 would ask for a TPMS reprogram again. read more

After suspecting a slow leak on one of my tires, I called to make an appointment at Discount Tire. They got me in same day, and within an hour (although it seemed pretty crowded) I learned there was slow leak. They said I was ready to go and they fixed the tire for FREE!!! I was unaware of their policy and was very confused for a moment about not even having to pay for the fix. I never visited them before, and was driving on the car's original tires. I selected Discount Tire because of their Yelp reviews and I'm glad I did! I always wonder whether my experience will be different. I was still apprehensive and perhaps a little resigned that I'd have to buy another tire. I'll definitely return, because when the time comes that the flat can't be fixed, I want them to get my money. They deserve it! read more

My husband took my '06 Lexus IS 350 here to get 4 new tires. He initially called and spoke to someone who gave him a quote of $670 for 4 Goodyear Eagle GT's--good price! Plus, they said they would match Tire Rack's price, which really made my husband feel extra warm and fuzzy inside... Then, we showed up last Monday and they were BUSY! They were very professional, and although the person my husband spoke with wasn't there, they said they could probably match that price. They didn't have the tires in stock, which we knew already, so they ordered them and told us they would call when ready. My husband didn't receive a call by Friday (the ONLY REASON I knocked off a star) so he called them and they said that the tires were due to be in that day. He showed up later that day, and it was quite busy, so he did have to wait approx an hr till they got the car in. But once they did, it took them 30 min. They ended up charging him $661 (YAY! even cheaper!) AND gave us a REBATE of $40!! Hell yeah! That's some seriously good pricing on 4 new Goodyear Eagle GT's installed and with the fabulous Discount Tire warranty. My husband wanted to give them 5 stars...so I've changed the rating.
