First experience dealing with plumbing issue! Saw an ad from internet, and called....From the start, they're trying to upsell everything. From a $49 service call with a wider range timing you have to wait to get it scheduled, to a $99 "to get in front of the line", they'll come much sooner. (No chance to compare prices, because you're hooked with the service call). When the service guy arrived, showed him the issue, he then checked other things just to try to sell us other services. And then finally the conversation about the actual cost to fix. There are 2 options, troubleshoot which is expensive in $480 range and the one with the actual work which is more expensive in the $530 range just to change the shower handle. We got discount eventually but we have to sign up for a monthly membership.. we declined the service, got charged for the $99 expedited dispatch/service call only, just to get him to the house early and listened to sales pitch. I finally called another licensed professional plumber, gave us estimate on the phone which is wayyyy cheaper than this company. He got there within 30 min, no dispatch fee, and is actually gave us cheaper final cost than estimate (~65% cheaper than this company). professionally done and quickly done less than 1 hr! read more

Called because my ice machine in refrigerator isn't producing ice and need to verify that the water supply was not blocked. Gunner was delightful, honest and direct. Although my water supply was adequate, Gunner noticed my kitchen faucet is leaking and gave me estimates on replacing. Since I'm focused on getting the ice machine fixed right now, I'm happy to know what it will take to get te faucet of my dreams installed. We needed to have our water heater expansion tank replaced and he did it very quickly and professionally. Additionally, they were able to dispatch someone out the next day. Overpriced and don't even use professional equipment to back up their price. Charged me $511 after a $100 gift card credit to perform a gas leak test that was supposed to be performed with some special equipment. The special equipment was a $39 Home Depot air inflator pump, and $2 spray bottle filled with soap and water that I had to provide. Also had to provide an extension cord they didn't even have a generator to power their own equipment. Damian goes under the house comes out 15 minutes later saying I have a lot of leaks, but really it was only 2 and they were at the threads of the pipe. The pipes weren't cracked or had any holes just leaking from the threaded part. This company quoted me $15000 to replace the gas pipes under my house or fix the pipe with the leak for $7500. I requested a plumber for my apartment building and tried to use 'Do It Right Plumbing' Company. One of my tenants had a stopped up drain in the kitchen. They scheduled me for the following day sometime in the morning. I notified my tenant who took that day off from work. I called twice and requested a time so I could notify my tenant and twice Do It Right Plumbers cancelled the job leaving my tenant with a backed up kitchen sink. That late afternoon they called and told me they could not make the appointed time and it would be the following day because they were just too busy. It's not that this company gives terrible service. However be prepared to face uncompetitive quotes that I'm finding are around 40% higher than some of the competition. That's huge. I would suggest people always get a second quote. I ended up having my handyman, (who's excellent), do the last two repairs they suggested for literally 40% cheaper than their quote. And, if you sign up for their "membership" which includes some regular water heater flushes, etc...they always seem to find something else to be fixed and present you will a quote to increase revenue. I used this business accidentally twice The first time I needed a plumber it was urgent when the main pipe broke and I was charged, an excessively high price. When I asked for a breakdown of the labor and material, they said that they could not give me that; it was not their policy. The second time I accidentally called them out again for an emergency with my Rohe shower control unit. After some back-and-forth talk with his boss, I was quoted $3700+. I was in a bind I had to get it fixed as soon as possible with guests coming to stay. They explained that it was so expensive because it would be difficult to find the parts and major replumbing of the pipes. I found the complete replacement unit online for sale in many places, none of them for more than $500 a piece.delivered. So, $3200 for say, about 20 hours max inlabor, or $160 /hr but even worse, he never finished the job and said he would be back to finish it, which never happened because apparently he was fired. In the meantime, they assured me twice they would have someone else come out, which never happened as they were putting me on "the back burner". and I had to make other arrangements. My strong advise : stay away from these businesses that act like large corporations and stay with the smaller mama and papa businesses that you can trust. read more

Wasted my time. I found this company through Angi as I needed help with plumbing at home. I spoke with Crystal on Thursday and she informed me they charge a $50 assessment fee to have someone come in and take a look at our problem and give us an estimate but since they had no one available that day she asked if it was okay to schedule for Friday between 8-12 and she would waive the fee for inconvenience so I agreed. Friday I got a call from Crystal @ 11:20am saying she's understaffed for the day and their technician is running late and apologize for the inconvenience and asked to reschedule again for today, Monday between 8-12 again. Around 11:30am has come to our house and no phone call so I called there office. Someone else answered the phone and told me she's in the other line with a customer and ask if I wanted to leave a message. I said yes and that I'm waiting for someone to come and needed a status report of what's going on. I never received a call back or explanation to what's going on. read more

My rating is not based on satisfaction with the replacement material or installation but the amount overcharged. I take responsibility for agreeing to the price and at the time I trusted Do It Right (DIR) would be in the ballpark with other plumbers but found out after the fact that they were not. My 5 yr. old water heater stopped heating, so with the water heater being only 5 yrs. old I assumed this would only be a fix, not a replacement. I had used DIR before and had no issues. This time the technician gave me the price for repair (replacement module) and it was approx. $1400, (I verbally got the quote and can't recall the exact amount) and to replace $2900 and change. I was told since I was a DIR member I was getting a $189 discount. With being out of hot water for two days and the dishes piling up and in need of a shower I was under pressure from the family to get hot water ASAP. I made the decision to go with the new water heater not knowing how long the current water heater would last. With the holidays coming up I was not prepared to make a $2900 + credit card purchase so I was offered an interest free 12-month bank loan so the tech and I called for credit approval and the company they work with had issues with their system which the DIR tech said has been going on for some time with other customers he has worked with. Bottom line, we were on the phone for over an hour and it was after 5pm to complete the process and I did not want to keep the technician over after hours. When I printed the loan app the amount was $3000 and I asked the tech why and he did not know and said he assumed they added fees. I have taken out interest free loans before and I never paid-up front fees. It was getting late I figured I would let the tech go home and I would call the office the next day. Also, when I printed the emailed receipt that night I noticed that there was no breakdown on the charges. Soon after the tech left my neighbors came over and when I told them how much I paid they were in shock. The next day I called I asked to speak to a manager and was told I would get a call back, which I never did. Over the course of the next four weeks after being told by friends also that I overpaid I called several top 10 yelp OC plumbers and two provided quotes of $2150 and $2295 for the same 6 yr. warranty which included installation and removal of the old water heater. One called me back the next day and said they could do it for $2000 if I did the installation that day. The receipt I printed said I got a $189 member discount so actually the price would that been $3189. This is a significant charge compared to other top ten Yelp plumbers. I also found the exact water heater I purchases for DIR being sold for $870 at Faucet Depot. I believe every business should make a fair profit but from my research and comparing what my neighbors and friends have paid I was overcharged big time. It is too late for me but I hope others will do their due diligence before committing to DIR. read more

Another update...I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Their first reply insinuated that I had tried to commit insurance fraud. I obviously found that offensive, considering Christian was the one who said he'd fix everything through insurance for me. I reiterated my concerns in my response, and got a nicer response still trying to shove the blame onto the restoration company and absolving their team of any blame. I had already told them told them that I did not have any issues with the restoration company. They offered a phone call with Christian. This has TRULY been what I have been after since MARCH ( a reminder that I called FIVE times asking to speak with him and received no call back, and received several hurtful messages from their team after a negative review instead of getting him on the phone for me), but guess what? SURPRISE! Christian never called me. I have also received no money back, or any apology from Christian about any "misunderstanding" or anything like that. Totally ridiculous. It would appear his male ego is so fragile he cant even do the bare minimum to smooth things over. read more
