The food is some of the best in Stowe. The burger is a local favorite. Great beer menu. Servers are nice.

The hostess was rude to multiple of our party at separate instances. Despite that, we stuck it out to get a table and try the food given the high food ratings from other reviews. However, the food is absolutely mid, especially in view of the prices. The chicken sandwich is mostly breading. The fingerling potatoes were just kinda oily potatoes. Mac and cheese wasn't all that flavorful (although the crust was nice and crunchy). The mushrooms were fairly bland too. Additionally, the service was extraordinarily slow. It took us like 40 min to get even a drink, which was insane. The server also didn't ask me how I wanted my burger cooked and ended up serving me a burger cooked to medium well, which, I guess, is a choice. In summary: please don't get roped in by the high ratings of this place. Think carefully before settling here to eat. read more

I really enjoy Doc. The food is great, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, as well as vibrant but not obnoxious. My only concern is that the staff isn't friendly. They aren't mean or malicious, just not engaging. Unless you're a regular, don't expect any conversation from the staff or especially the bartenders. May as well speak to a rock. This was one of the best lunches I've had, no joke. We came up to Stowe to ski and shop and came in because of the reviews. It's a super cute place- we were sat near a fireplace so that was cozy. Our server, Nicki, was very warm and helpful, and the food runners had a good vibe as well. Hall & Oates was playing, which is never a bad thing. We had the marinated beets, cheese fritters (holy cow, these were amazing), split a burger and the market salad. We had their pie of the day (Fat Elvis) for dessert and it was orgasmic. The portions aren't huge- I'd recommend a couple starters for 2 people- but the food is delicious- melt in your mouth kinda stuff. Side note- neither of us drink (although the boozy drinks looked yummy), and they have an extensive list of non alcoholic drinks & mocktails which is always nice to see. Walked into town from the Stowe Village Inn and stumbled on this awesome spot! Being the week of the eclipse, traffic foiled our plans to try out some breweries nearby. But Doc Ponds came to the rescue with great local beers on tap. We sampled brews from Hill Farmstead, Foam and Burlington. I would describe the atmosphere as reminiscent of a brewery with the added perk of serving up some delicious food. Not being super hungry, we snacked on housemade bbq chips with onion dip and smoked bluefish dip and crackers. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here! read more

Tried Doc Pond's for lunch and was glad we did. Very nice place with a warm, homey feel to it. Whoever was in charge of the music was doing an awesome job, and they are playing vinyl records. Service was great throughout. Tyler took care of us, but everyone was fantastic. The food was exceptional. We started with the VT Cheddar Fritters and they were very good, I certainly recommend them. I had the Doc Smash Burger and it was excellent. My wife had the wings and they were very good too. I highly recommend Doc Pond's if you are in Stowe. Doc Ponds was on my list of places to try when we visited Stowe because I had a fantastic experience dining at its sister restaurant Hen of the wood. We went around 7:30pm on a weekday without a reservation and was seated at the bar immediately. Our server was friendly. I appreciated how she tried to maintain certain distance from us when she took our order. We had the house pickled vegetables, Cubano and Double Smash Burger. I'm a big fan of their Cubano. You can see clear layers of the Cotto Ham, Gruere cheese, and Pitchfork Farm Curtido (which is like cabbage slaw). The sandwich was nicely seasoned with mustard aioli and drizzled with honey on the surface. It was a bit messy to eat because of the honey, but our server was thoughtful and gave us alcohol wipes to clean our fingers. My partner really enjoyed the smash burger. It was juicy, meaty, and sloppy in a good way. The bun was slightly crunchy on the outside and soft inside. The bacon was so good. My only complaint was that there was nothing special about the fries that came with the burger, which was slightly disappointing given the overall high food quality at this place. This place is a must try when in Stowe, Vermont! Quite honestly it had the best chicken sandwich I have had! The sauce is definitely what made it, but it had all the write textures - the crispy chicken, the creamy sauce, the tartness from the pickles, a definite 10/10 for me. We also had the smash burger with cheddar, and it was good - but there was nothing amazing about it to Me. The fried chicken sandwich was on another level for me compared to the smash burger. If you do get the smash burger, order a side of garlic aioli with it, it pairs extremely well with the burger and elevates the taste of it! The 2 sides we ordered were the mac and cheese and the Brussels sprouts and beets with feta. The Mac and cheese was very good. We were scared it was going to be too heavy but it was definitely on the lighter side of Mac and cheese. The Brussels sprouts and beets were good, but when we added the garlic aioli to the Brussels sprouts it was amazing! It definitely helped the the dish along a bit. Luckily my gf knew to set an alert when to check into the wait list via Yelp so when we got there, our wait was maybe 10 mins for a group of 4 Super busy of course but it was peak weekend in Stowe. Ordered chicken sandwich, side of fries, side of mac, and a double stack burger. The fries was bad, no seasoning and overdone. The chicken sandwich wasn't bad but nothing special. It has some shaved fennel and the right amount of goat cheese. The wings were good too. Read a lot of reviews comparing their wings to The Bench next door so we had to try both. These were fried, salty and generous in portion size. If you prefer fried, these are good for you. We preferred the grilled ones next door but both were good. Chicken sandwich was good. Unfortunate The half chicken was the worst dish here and from the entire trip. Dry, even the thigh. Chimichurri was incredibly salty so you completely miss the freshness of the herbs. We just visited this place tonight. They don't take reservations so I joined their waist list. It was saying 53-63mins wait, but it was like 20mins. We were lucky to get a table just 5 mins since we checked in. The food was good. The host was very welcoming. Our waitress was attentive. I worried this was not the place for my toddler but it was. The atmosphere is hipster/loud so nobody cared if my kid was loud. They did have stuff for children. Actually, they have sitting areas that work for all ages. The service was quick and friendly, and the place was really nice inside, lots of seating and they had the bar area to sit at. Besides the beers which are great if you like trying new local brews, the food blew us away. The menu is relatively small but everything is high quality. I really enjoyed my chicken sandwich, and my sister loved the burger. The meat was probably local and tasted like it. The entrees/sandwiches do not come with a side; but the fries ordered on the side were crispy, served with some skin on them. The garlic aioli was very flavorful and is great with the fries. The best bang for your buck here is the half chicken. It is absolutely huge, and the chicken was so tender, juicy, and delicious. I'm not normally a fan of plain cooked chicken, but it was so tender and served with a chimichurri sauce that made it really stand out as an entree. I would also recommend the Mac and cheese; it was oven baked, and the noodles were soft and the sauce tasted fresh-made without being gritty. Overall everyone in our party would recommend a stop here, and we all agree this place is well deserving of a five-star rating. We even stayed for desert, which is not common for us at a restaurant. The chocolate milkshake tasted like it had real cocoa, and the Rice Krispie was homemade with browned butter and salt- it was epic! The food, while delicious, was very overpriced and a small portion size. For example, I got my burger on a huge plate and it was the size of a slider. I am not from the area, but most restaurants will serve fries with their burgers but here you had to pay an extra $9 for them. We ended up going out to eat after our dinner here somewhere down the road because, after a day on the slopes, we were still pretty hungry.
