We were in Atlanta for a couple days staying near this place. It was recommended as a good local place with good music. The two stars are for the band--they were awesome. The food looked great, but we couldn't get anybody to wait on us to order some. Granted, it was late and busy Friday night, but a table opened up right near the band, so we sat there. Nobody came over so after a little while we went and ordered a quick round from the bar. Nobody ever came to even clear the table. We flagged at least 3 different servers to order another round and some food, but it was either "I'm not your server", or 'I'll get to you", but literally nobody came over. So we had one drink and left. I guess it is the definition of a local place...but won't be going back there on any future trips to Atlanta. But again, thought the band was awesome. read more

Well, I wish I could write a review about their product but I never even got to order anything. Six of us showed up at 7 pm on a Sunday for a round of beers to celebrate a birthday. The bar is so smokey that we never sat inside. It was clear that they were doing some sort of construction on one side of the patio so we sat on the other side near the entrance. The server came out to tell us that she is not allowed to serve us on the patio because it's under construction. There were other people sitting on the patio with drinks but we were told that it was fine to sit outside but she was told not to bring us any drinks. In her defense, she was very nice and apologetic but the fact that the manager told her not to serve us outside and tried to force us to come in to the smelly, smokey restaurant made us take our business elsewhere. read more

Simply a neighborhood place with the best wings I've ever had. A good variety of lunch offerings at reasonable prices and good brunches on the weekends. Free poured drinks, decent prices and good service makes it a place worth trying out. However, don't forget, it's a bar. Came here with a big group of friends, sat at a table for over 20 minutes without being acknowledged by any staff or even seeing a staff member taking orders at tables. Went to the bar to ask for a waitress, waited another 10 minutes until finally someone came over. The group I was with wanted to eat and after waiting 30 minutes to be noticed...of course they were not taking anymore orders. Ordered a round of drinks and it took at least 20 minutes. Right after receiving first round of drinks the lights came on and it was last call.... Got there 2 hours before closing time and all we could get was one drink... not to mention there were men literally just sitting at the table next to us staring at us all and made everyone feel uneasy, as soon as my male friend walked away one approached me and I respectfully told him that he was making the whole table feel uncomfortable... he apologized and walked away, then his friend came over and talked to my friend , after I said we were all uncomfortable.. and they were in the corner laughing about it so I said I didn't appreciate them not respecting how we felt about being feeling uneasy and the one man started shouting and making a scene and we all just calmly sat there and said have a nice night... no security to be found and staff members just watching it all happen. Just made me feel very unsafe all around. I usually like coming here but the last 2 times it's been very similar and it makes me not want to go back at all. On the bright side our waitress was very sweet and attentive once she realized we weren't being taken care of. Although very smoky, I have always had a great time at Doc's. The food is good (except for the chicken fingers and the cole slaw, which you should never order). The secret is to check the specials board. Every day, there are different specials and they are almost always delicious!! (Ribeyes, lobster pasta, lamb chops, beef stew, etc.) Prices are usually under $10. Don't order sodas because they do not have free refills. It's better to order from the bar! They have good tea though with free refills. Usually the wait staff is fantastic although sometimes you do get one having a bad night. The "people watching" at Doc's should be its own sport. Very diverse, very laid back. You see everyone from attorneys to pipe fitters to ..... You just never know what you will see. I swear I have seen a dancing dwarf with a blond on one arm and a beer in another breaking it down to She's A Brick House. Anyway, we have always enjoyed Doc's but rarely stay past 2am. 1st off you can smoke inside. This blows my mind. It smells absolutely terrible inside. We almost instantly lost our appitite. They only serve pitchers on the weekend... What the heck kind of bar is that? The food was okay, it was reasonably priced. The onion rings were pretty darn good. When our bill came it came in an American Express card holder. This bar used to be a great place to catch live music. Now Doc's refuses to support the fans and band that play there. I asked politely for them to turn off the floor to ceiling TV behind the band. It was soooooo distracting. Also they don't care about disabled patrons. No handicapped bathroom. And the waitresses rolled their eyes at me after asking for 1 of the 27 TVs. Well, maybe for you (I was in my wheelchair). Doc's turned their stage into a gambling poker ring and sports bar. They don't promote the bands. Doc's marquee advertises the gambling side of Docs. We walked. This place has really gone downhill. There are signs on all the doors to check your firearms at the door. This is one of the worst experiences I have ever have at this establishment. I'm currently in the hospital and my family wanted some wings while visiting. My first suggestion was Doc's (they never disappoint) well this was not the case on this visit. My 20 wings had no taste, bad grease, and our fries didn't not taste like sour cream and chives. This disappointment only continues.. as I called to take to a manager the amount of non concern and rush through on the phone was like anything I have ever witnessed. As explaining to him my issues and concerns, Mike the manger over talked me several times and made excuses the entire conversation. Feeling the need to give this place some love. I often come with a group of friends for Tuesday night trivia, and we always have a blast. Mike is so fun -- he takes his time with the questions, so if you're playing, don't expect to be in and out in an hour. But it's a good time, so who cares? Make sure to sit outside if the weather is nice. The inside is very smoky. I love their chicken fingers and tots. On healthy days, I've enjoyed their spinach salad with house vinaigrette. Nothing earth-shattering. Just good bar food, y'all. Service could be quicker -- but again, we never come here in a hurry. If you're in the area, the weather is nice, and you're looking for a casual meal -- Doc's is worth checking out. read more

I want to give this place 3.5 stars, but I think 3 is too low so I'll be generous. You have to go into this place knowing this is a dive bar, sooooo... it wreaks of smoke and the food is typical bar food. I thought the wings and onion rings were good, but artichoke hearts and fried mushrooms were eh. The waitress was very nice and service was prompt, but we also went when it was slow (mind you, some bars have service that sucks even when its slow!). Plenty of tv screens to watch the game and they have specials M-F. We went on Monday so they had $1.50 drafts which is the ish! Good local pub with live music, pub trivia, and bingo on different nights of the week and weekend. The prices are very good and the chicken wings are outstanding. They won an award in the 2009 Marietta Chicken Wing Festival. That's actually not a joke. Doc's has indoor and outdoor seating. The inside is a little dim with a haze of smoke to see through. Doc's is a little older then some other local places but it has a lot of character. The food is pretty good minus the nachos which were really disappointing. Food is served really late into the early hours of the morning. The service can be a little slow at times so I don't recommend coming here if you are in a rush. For sports fans, Doc's has a lot of TV's so watching your favorite sporting event will not be a problem. The service can be good or pretty bad depending on who you get. I am going to deduct a star for inconsistent and typically slow service. Overall, 3 stars though! read more

This place is awesome in that it is cheap and open late. I came into town for a business conference and this was one of the few places that was still open close to midnight. Walking in it has a hole in the wall local feel to it; which I actually quite enjoy. They had $2.50 shots of Johnny Walker Black and you could still smoke inside of the place which is unusual for a restaurant. I ordered everything fried, like fried artichoke, fried chicken wings, and French fries and it was all tasty and relatively cheap, our bill after drinks was like $60.00. read more

We decided to try Doc's after deciding we could not eat at Battery Park. We first walked into Docs and noticed the smoky smell which immediately prompted us to ask for patio seating. The smell was very strong. The drinks were probably the best part of the meal. The food was decent. Service could have been better. I had an issue with my bill at the end of the night. Came here after trying to get through traffic at the Braves stadium. Came in and there was live music and tons of people. Wasn't sure if it was self seat but there was no hostess stand so we walked around. After finding a seat it took 20 minutes to get someone to clean the table we snagged. Then another 10 minutes to order food. Our waitress was nice and polite but it was hard finding her to place the order. After coming back w our drinks we told her we were ready to place our order and she told us she'd be right back. That took another 15 minutes. I ordered the crab cake dinner w loaded baked potato and a salad, my boyfriend got the lobster Mac n cheese w same sides. The Mac n cheese was not good we ate one spoonful each. The crab cakes were good and the drinks were great. This is a great kickback spot however it's hard to get any of the workers attention.
