While away the hours (or at least one!) lazily gazing at gulls perched the pier outside or watching the tugs push barges under the bridge and through the intercoastal. Amost every seat in the house has a great view! We stopped by on our way home from a few hours at the beach but if you want to skip the sand, there's plenty of beachy atmosphere to be had here. We loved our food! I came to Corpus with my friend and his mom. They wanted to have some fresh seafood. Our server Shawn, was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. My friend's mom wanted some breaded fish and my friend wanted fresh fish (unbreaded). Shawn recommended the fried flounder and catch of the day, Mahi Mahi. And they loved it so much! Actually, on the drive to the beach they kept saying it was the best seafood they had in recent memory. I got the Cobb salad without the bacon, with cilantro vinaigrette dressing, and loved it. I have a home on Padre Island not far from Doc's and have eaten there many times. We usually go on the boat and can tie up and enjoy the convenience and atmosphere. The food is just ok but the drinks at the Waterline bar have always been good. We haven't gone there since last summer so we stopped by today after a boat ride to have a margarita before going home. I asked for a top shelf margarita on the rocks. The "bartender" filled the plastic cup overflowing with ice and asked which brand tequila, I said Patron and I don't want all that ice. She said then I'll get more mixer. I said I don't want more mixer just don't fill it as full. She turned her back and dumped a bunch of mixer and some Triple Sec in. I never saw her pour any tequila (but I could not see). I paid her the $19 and a tip on top ($23). It was nothing but mixer. Absolutely no taste of anything but a sorry tasting mixer. It's a shame that they have such a nice venue but such poor food and drinks. Do your self a favor and go somewhere else. read more

We are here twice while on vacation from Ft Worth. Once was in the afternoon after spending time at the beach and the second was for mine and my husband's wedding anniversary. On our first visit, I chose the fried shrimp which comes with fries, hushpuppies, and cole slaw. For $18, I was definitely expecting something more/better. It was just ok. The shrimp weren't the best I've had and the fries were soggy. Cole slaw and hushpuppies were good. Kid ordered the cheeseburger which he loved. Hubby ordered with stuffed flounder with seasoned potatoes and rice. i took a few bites was was very jealous I didn't order that instead. It was so good! The second visit we rushed to make it there in time to get a table against the ledge for our anniversary. They were pretty packed that night but the amazing hostesses got us the perfect table right in time to watch the sun go down over the water. The view alone is worth 5 stars. My hubby and I shared one of the specials which I believe was Cajun red fish with potatoes and veggies. The fish was good, but kind of on the salty side. Once we cut it up and mixed it with the sides it wasn't so bad. Services was great and friendly both times even thought they were packed, so I applaud them for that. We would come back. read more

Rebecca is an amazingly awesome person to have serve you! Dining experiences are rarely perfect and neither was this one but the staff went over and beyond to do their very best to make it so. The tonic was out and I let them know (this happens frequently to me cause I drink vodka tonics a lot). I try to let them know so the next customer doesn't get a vodka soda. Anyways Chris and Rebecca made extra effort to make sure I was happy. As a foodie I was ready to experience the best they had and I got it! Clam chowder, Fried pickles, Cajun stuffed Mahi Mahi special and pumpkin cheesecake. I also tried the jalapeño Margarita and strawberry basil lemonade. The lemonade was pretty tart but still tasty. This place was so good, we went again on our last night of vacation too! The stuffed flounder was my favorite but the grilled redfish and grilled mahi mahi was delicious too. And if you get the steak, be sure to get it docs way that was awesome! I preferred the potatoes over the rice and will suggest to also try the key lime pie while you're there! Let's also say the seating is fantastic! We we're lucky enough to get a spot on the patio the first night but on the second night we we're on the interior which was pretty cool too because the back wall can be mostly open so if you, don't want to wait, pretty much any table is a good one. Also, both week nights the live music was awesome!! And just FYI the wait was not a problem because you can go downstairs and grab a drink while you enjoy the view! read more

We had a great experience tonight at Docs. Our server was Kayla- she was so sweet and attentive!! She did such a great job, offering excellent service. We got a great seat with an awesome view. We arrived at about 6pm on a Monday; no wait at all. When we left around 7:15 and it did appear that there was a little bit of a wait. My husband ordered the Yellow fin tuna tacos and REALLY enjoyed it. Our 6&8 year old boys even tried it , never having had sea food before and wishing they had gotten them. I had the shrimp platter which was also great. I got the kids a side of green beans to share with their fries that came with the meal- they were very very delicious!!! Overall, decent. The food: Fish n Chips. Flavor was ok. Fish n Chips isn't really known for being flavorful, however I don't think it needs to be that way. Why doesn't any restaurant that serves Fish n Chips season the fish BEFORE they batter it? That being said, the preparation and execution was nearly perfect. Batter was light and crispy. Fish was tender and succulent. I did not eat it with tartar sauce because I'm not a fan of sweet tartar sauce. Personal preference. Fries were meh. Nothing to write home about. Also did not eat the slaw because I loathe coleslaw, however, my co-workers dining with me both said it was excellent. I trust their opinion. The service: Lovely. The gal with the heart shaped glasses is an absolute peach. So friendly and knowledgeable. Everything else: The sunset view is superb, although the sky rats (moderate selection of birds) can get slightly annoying. Outside seating is a bit tight along the walkway, but manageable. If I were ever to return to Corpus Christi, I would come back and try something else on the menu. read more

So this place was rt off the water and a little confusing to get there due to the construction. The place was full, I liked the wooden floors and the staff was super friendly. Just a heads up. This place is like an outside patio, with no AC but plenty off fans all over. I orders the seafood platter and my friend ordered the Tuna sandwich. The food was outstanding and the tuna was excellent also. The tuna steak was almost an 1" thick. We both left there satisfied and full. My husband took me here for our anniversary, and even for a Tuesday evening there was a bit of a wait. We wait no more than 3o minutes, and we were able to get a table outside just in time to watch the sunset. We started with a couple drinks, I got the Mermaid Water and my husband got the South Texas Tea. Both drinks were very delicious! We started with half a dozen oysters and some clam chowder. The oysters were fresh, and pretty decently sized and the clam chowder was so good and comforting. I would definitely recommend it! My husband ordered the Ahi Tuna Tacos and he enjoyed them. I got the Crab Stuffed Flounder because I overheard a couple sitting next to us saying that was the reason why they come back. It did not disappoint! Met a dear friend here for lunch on a very hot but beautiful day. There's no air conditioning, just large fans, so dress appropriately. We sat on the deck upstairs overlooking the intracoastal and it's just lovely. Our waitress, Abby, was friendly and efficient. They do not have a lunch menu so we ordered dinner-sized portions and had enough for another meal. We ate grilled shrimp with veggies and salad and fried shrimp with coleslaw and fries. Everything was cooked well and tasted fresh. The coleslaw was a miss though, sour vinegary dressing and pieces of the cabbage core were mixed in. Fries were excellent although a bit greasy and steamed veggies were bland. Prices are on the high side but we'd come back. Total for fried shrimp, grilled shrimp and two teas was $52 including tip. read more

Well the water view is the only thing this place has going for it- thus the one star--and they charge accordingly!! The wait staff was friendly and they apologize repeatedly for their restaurants downfalls! If you like to pay for sub par and overpriced food then come here. (If not go down the pier just a little bit to Snoopy's, much better food for the price and better atmosphere as well.) Doc's $30 market "catch of the day" was not fresh, moist nor tasty! And the portion was tiny for $30!! The plate felt empty. Not to mention it took almost an hour to get our 3 plates after we ordered, and the resturant was nowhere near half capacity! The excuse the cook gave our waitress was that he had to butterfly the Mahi fish steak before he could bread it and fry it!! Seriously!! The mahi-mahi piece we got was only about 2"x5" strip of fish. So where was this large fish steak that took so long to butterfly and cook?!? (The lemon slice next to fish for size reference.) And then the fresh veggie side for their dinners is a lame bowl of green beans that are way over peppered. Not a side dish for a $30 dinner!! Their soup and salad plate they charge $10 for was nothing more than a plate of lettuce with one slice of tomato, a slice of onion, a few shredded pieces of carrot and a crouton or two on top- and it was warm! The clam chowder cup(sm bowl) that came with it was like cottage cheese consistency and not a gravy consistency as it should be, nor did it have any flavor! Yuck!! Just SKIP DOCS!!
