DKA and cronut (Vietnamese coffee and condensed milk)
    Sally Z.

The pastries were amazing and lived up to the hype! I tried the popular cronut (this month's flavor was Vietnamese coffee and condensed milk) and the DKA. They were perfectly flaky with light airy layers and so buttery and crisp on the outside. So addictive! I thought the outdoor seating in the back patio had such a cozy and charming ambiance with plenty of tables and chairs. Even though there was a line getting the pastries, I didn't wait very long and service was efficient. I'm so glad I tried this spot and looking forward to trying more monthly cronut flavors!

    DKA - Dominique's Kouign Amann x2

Date: Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026 Time: around 11:30am What: Pastry Takeaway *Cronut - Caramelized Banana Pudding & PIneapple *DKA - Dominique's Kouign Amann x2 A friend was in the area and offered to pick up some pastries to bring back to our hotel. I first had a cronut in Japan about 10+ years ago. I was not impressed. There was waaay too much going on with the salted plum, the gooey center cream, the sugary outside. I just didn't like it. Plus it was waaay too sweet. Decided to give it another shot in NYC. The flavor of the day was what I listed above. I thought the flavors were fine. A tad too sweet this time, but nothing too extreme. I do think the cronut is meant to be eaten right away. For some reason, the cream center always seems to bring down the flaky outside. It takes away from what makes it light. Overall, I did enjoy this one more than the one in asia. The DKA I thought tasted like nothing. The kouign amann I love back home at b patisserie in sf has a delicious crunchy bruleed outside and is just so buttery and decadent. This just felt like any other pastry with very little flavor. I actually thought this could benefit from more sugar. Overall better than my first experience at another location, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. REVIEW #4006

Many years ago, I remember there was a crazy cronut trend. Not sure if it's still super popular nowadays, but I remember someone got one for me and it was delicious. This time I tried their brown sugar DKA and it's a pretty solid pastry. It was muffin-shaped and perfectly flaky with beautiful croissant layers. The outside had a nice crunchy, caramelized sugar crust whereas the center was slightly gooey. I definitely want to try their other pastries another time!

I have had a delicious cronut from this place for the first time courtesy my wonderful coworker. This was beyond fantabulous. I don't know the name of the one I had so is if someone can tell me that would be great. I can't rate service and ambiance but I hope to visit one day.

Came too late in the afternoon, most of them are sold out. Got myself a kouign amann. Yum so good

Pastries galore! Light lunch fare too. Garden/patio in the back - one with AC/heat, another just open air with a covering. Corridors were tight inside, but part of the experience. Was incredible to see all of the pastries and materials being hauled in (from Dominque Ansel Workshop) through the front door and brought to the back. I was bummed to learn there's only a seasonal Cronut - no plain or singular glaze - but the staff member was kind and mentioned a DAK would be a good next choice. Fried/glazed croissant type of pastry - no cream. But was good! Maybe next time the cronut flavor will be even more appealing. It's a reason to come back :)

First time here and feel like I'm late to the party... At first, I was disappointed as I wanted to try the infamous cronut, but not into the flavor of the month, a banana pudding...but what we had instead lived up to this bakery's reputation. Super good stuff! We tried their signature pastry, the DKA (described as similar to a caramelized croissant) and the toasted coconut chocolate croissant filled with coconut almond frangipane--a wow combo. The eating area in back was a welcome surprise. And the outdoor patio would be perfect on a warmer day. The nearby table caught my attention eating an amazing "Perfect Little Egg Sandwich" and the Avocado Toast. Next time... Sampled many bakeries on my recent visit and this was absolutely the best.

    Vietnamese coffee cronut

Vietnamese coffee cronut was 5 stars. It's so good. I went back again - I don't remember what previous flavours that were also good. But so far, this was the most memorable for me.

Very nice place for coffee. The garden in the back is nice. Coffee not the best tasting though, it was a little bitter. I enjoyed sitting outside in the garden. I'll come back and check out the pastries.

Super cute bakery with lots of delicious offerings both savory and sweet. Ordered the cronut of the month which was Vietnamese coffee & condensed milk ganache (7.75) + DKA (6.50). It was my first time getting a cronut and it was sweet and delicious with the light layers! The kouign amann was delicious and with a crust outer layer and bottom. Staff friendly and willing to help. Also loved the cute garden seating in the back!

So they do a cronut each month, limited edition. Always unique flavors

It's a must try!! I think I could go daily and try 1 thing and not find a favorite. I personally wasn't a fan in our group of the "cronut" but the other desserts were out of this world. Somewhat pricey, but when in NY.. the place has a cute vibe, and the people working were super friendly also. We will be back for sure!

12pm on a Saturday and it was NOT crowded at all with plenty of seating in the back. Dominique is known for their cronuts. They only have one flavor a month. Hoijicha Brown Sugar Cronut 10/10 Chocolate Eclair 10/10 Hot mint green tea 10/10 - the flavor packs a punch! This was our first time trying a cronut. It may not have been hot and fresh but the texture was still 10/10. Service was excellent; they share in the excitement of your experience of visiting the famous bakery. Definitely worth a stop to pick up a cronut!

What time do cronuts typically sellout?

These days you can usually get a cronut at any time. However the specialty ones will tend to run out early afternoon.

Is this the location in SoHo?

    Yes

What flavor is the September 2021 cronut? I couldn't find it online at the preorder form or in the FAQ

Fig and almond Cronut for September. You can always check their Instagram.

Are dogs allowed outside on the patio?

The best answer will come straight from the bakery, so just give them a call. They do answer the phone; I say that because sometimes it can seem like some other places don't.

    Do I need reservations?

No, there usually is a long line outside on a good day. During Covid is the only time I have just walked in with no lines outside. They jave a sitting area and a garden area in the back.

Can I order for delivery or pick up? And wanna get the blizzard bear one, do they have it at the Dominique ansel bakery and the Dominique ansel kitchen as well?

No delivery to my knowledge. Pick up yes. Blizzard bear at the bakery and kitchen.

Are there any vegan options and if so what are they?

Lydia, glad you asked. There aren't any vegan items.Did you know there was a large vegan rally by Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine against Dominique Ansel? They were comparing his cronuts to KFC's Double Down sandwich, that they were a… Read more

Are there still big lines for cronuts? Are they selling out?

There's no long lines in the beginning of the week. I went couple times on Monday and Tuesday around 9am and there was no line and plenty of trays with fresh cronuts.

    Open on 7/04/18?

    Not that I know of

Today I decided to make a special trip to go here to grab a few goodies. I forgot how small the place was and how low the ceilings were. That wasn't an issue though. The place was nice and cakes were stacked neatly. What was surprising to me is that they don't have any cookies laid in the front display. It's all placed in the back almost hidden. I was deeply disappointed with their cookie selection. It was deeply surprising that they don't sell the butter cookies that had jam in the middle and dipped with chocolate on one side with sprinkles. I did ask the clerk and even showed him a pic of what I was looking for and he said they never sold them. They only had the linzer cookies and they didn't look so good. They also did not have the lobster tail. They did have the sfogliatelle which they also called a lobster tail. I thought they were not the same? Some bakeries sell both and they are definitely not the same. I did end up buying one of their sfogliatelle with cream and some rugelachs. The sfogliatelle was good but the rugelachs tasted slightly underbaked. It did taste fresh though unlike many I've had in other bakeries. However, for $28 per pound, I wouldn't get it again. For those not having lobster tail and not having the Italian cookies, I will have to give Veniero's a low rating. I never thought an Italian bakery would not carry staples. Very disappointed. I need to find another Italian bakery now.

I had to run to work after an appointment so I ordered for takeout. The person taking my order was friendly. I opted for the Lumberjack and a black cold brew. I received the drink very quickly, with a short wait for the sandwich. While waiting, one member of the staff stocking up supplies on the side started chatting with me and then she offered to check up on my sandwich. She came out with it shortly thereafter. She was very friendly and helpful. The sandwich held up well during my 15-minute commute to the office. It is a really indulgent sandwich, with each bite revealing the sweetness and butteriness of the maple crueller, the saltiness of the thick cut bacon, and the savoriness of the cheese and the eggs as the yolks popped. I sipped the cold brew in between bites to cut the richness. It was a very satisfying meal. The Lumberjack is not something I would recommend you eat every day, but it's good as an occasional treat. In the past I've ordered lunch from Daily Provisions via delivery (the "Chefy" salad and the chicken milanese with arugula salad are my favorites), but I might start adding other breakfast sandwiches to the mix.
