Ehhh... the jury is still out. It's quite expensive, and I'm not sure it's worth all the hype. Overall, I'd give it a 6 out of 10. Iced Mocha Latte: 2 out of 10. The mocha wasn't properly blended into the drink, which made it disappointing. Definitely not worth it. Cronut - 8 out of 10. The signature pastry created and trademarked by this bakery. It does taste like something out of this world. A hybrid of a croissant and a doughnut, it was flaky, rich, and enjoyable - with a delicious filling. Okay, okay-- the cronut is delightfully delicious, and it's crazy that not a single monthly flavor has been repeated! This month of May's flavor is strawberry milkshake and brown butter ganache. And it rocked! The texture of that sugary donut with layers is done really well, as some other places have pretty dry versions. It held well even with the cream inside. The cream was creamy and had a milky strawberry flavor reminiscent of those Yan Yan sticks with the strawberry flavor dip (IYKYK) or strawberry pocky. And that ganache?? My favorite part! Was a little mind-tricked since the ganache was pink like strawberry, but that brown butter was rich, deep, flavorful, and so, so good! All together, it was a buttery, milky, strawberry party-- definitely sweet but wonderful :D However, I've tried other treats from this shop (as well as the Las Vegas and Papa d'amour locations), and they're not quite as impressive as the cronut. Maybe entremets aren't my thing, but even the famed DKA (kouign Amman) is not very flavorful to me, and the texture is a bit of a turn off for me. The matcha strawberry tiramisu cake from this visit was all right; it's beautiful but "OK" for taste . The white chocolate leaf was purely for decor and not flavor. The cake part was not super flavorful in terms of matcha and was overpowered by the jam. Two bites of in, and I was okay not eating the rest. The garden seating area in the back is really nice! One part is like an indoor patio and the second portion is outside and covered. There's self serve water and a restroom too. It wasn't crowded at all on a weekday morning. While I can't vouch for all the creations in the display case, I'm definitely "team cronut" and will be returning next time for the newest Cronut flavor! read more

The pastries were amazing and lived up to the hype! I tried the popular cronut (this month's flavor was Vietnamese coffee and condensed milk) and the DKA. They were perfectly flaky with light airy layers and so buttery and crisp on the outside. So addictive! I thought the outdoor seating in the back patio had such a cozy and charming ambiance with plenty of tables and chairs. I first had a cronut in Japan about 10+ years ago. I was not impressed. There was waaay too much going on with the salted plum, the gooey center cream, the sugary outside. I just didn't like it. Plus it was waaay too sweet. Decided to give it another shot in NYC. The flavor of the day was what I listed above. I thought the flavors were fine. A tad too sweet this time, but nothing too extreme. I do think the cronut is meant to be eaten right away. For some reason, the cream center always seems to bring down the flaky outside. It takes away from what makes it light. Overall, I did enjoy this one more than the one in asia. The DKA I thought tasted like nothing. The kouign amann I love back home at b patisserie in sf has a delicious crunchy bruleed outside and is just so buttery and decadent. This just felt like any other pastry with very little flavor. Many years ago, I remember there was a crazy cronut trend. Not sure if it's still super popular nowadays, but I remember someone got one for me and it was delicious. This time I tried their brown sugar DKA and it's a pretty solid pastry. It was muffin-shaped and perfectly flaky with beautiful croissant layers. Pastries galore! Light lunch fare too. Garden/patio in the back - one with AC/heat, another just open air with a covering. Corridors were tight inside, but part of the experience. Was incredible to see all of the pastries and materials being hauled in (from Dominque Ansel Workshop) through the front door and brought to the back. I was bummed to learn there's only a seasonal Cronut - no plain or singular glaze - but the staff member was kind and mentioned a DAK would be a good next choice. First time here and feel like I'm late to the party... At first, I was disappointed as I wanted to try the infamous cronut, but not into the flavor of the month, a banana pudding...but what we had instead lived up to this bakery's reputation. Super good stuff! We tried their signature pastry, the DKA (described as similar to a caramelized croissant) and the toasted coconut chocolate croissant filled with coconut almond frangipane--a wow combo. The eating area in back was a welcome surprise. And the outdoor patio would be perfect on a warmer day. Hoijicha Brown Sugar Cronut 10/10 Chocolate Eclair 10/10 Hot mint green tea 10/10 - the flavor packs a punch! This was our first time trying a cronut. It may not have been hot and fresh but the texture was still 10/10. Service was excellent; they share in the excitement of your experience of visiting the famous bakery. I've had a few of their pastries, But my favorite is, the monthly cronut flavor. I love how he always switches it up and never repeats flavors. I do wish the cronut was crunchier, but it is still great, and the filling is what keeps me back, as it's packed with so much flavor. The Dka is good, but truthfully, I've had better, and I think this is a little overhyped. I do love the cookie shot with vanilla milk. That is great! 2nd visit to this bakery. There wasn't a line on a late Friday afternoon so I went in and looked at what's available. This time, I ordered the toasted coconut chocolate almond marzipan croissant. I love almond but not shredded coconut. Looks wise, it looks overbaked but it's the chocolate lamination when you taste it. I can tolerate the shredded toasted coconut topping because of that sweet almond marzipan filling. And I tasted butter so it's quite rich. Finally tried their cronut and it was incredible! This month's flavor was the delicious Apple & Creme Brûlée. It tasted like the best flavors of fall encased within a flaky pastry. The frosting on top was too sweet though. Regarding their classics, I enjoyed their pistachio macaron, but the canele tasted stale unfortunately. Their pastries are expensive, but makes sense considering how high their quality is. Despite having a line out the door, the staff was friendly & efficient. It's nice that the Soho location has a lot of seating too (& on a nice day they open the patio in the back) so you can sip on a drink and enjoy your aesthetic pastries in peace. I came here for the Cookie Shots!!! ;-) One day I was in the neighborhood and I decided to finally try the cookie shots that I've been hearing about for som many years. I couldn't just get one so I decided to buy a pack to try it at home alongside my mom and sister. Upon entering I was hit with a heavenly smell of all the goodies in the bakery. I joined the line and was taking in everything from the menu to all the goodies that were displayed. Even the featured flavor of The Cronut. I decided to pass that day but I will definitely be back to try it. I ordered my pack of Cookie Shots and the young lady at the cashier was sooo pleasant. I took my bag and left sadly because it just felt amazing to be there but I was looking forward to trying the cookies. When I got home I decided to also try it with some baileys and one with oat milk lol. it was a great idea because it was sooooooooo delicious. The bakery is where the masses flock to no matter what time of day, whether you're there for their iconic cronut or their famous DKA (Dominique Kouign Amann). While the lines aren't quite as long as when Dominique Ansel first brought the out the cronut, there is still some sort of wait regardless of when you visit. Mid morning, the line is half bakery deep. What does that mean, you ask. It means the front door opens to the bakery but the checkout is on the left as you enter, causing a crowded area as one attempts to get in line, or move past the customers into the small seating area in the very back. You must head all the way inside and make a u-turn in order to be able to browse and buy all the goods. If you're lucky, while you wait in line, the bakers may offer you some complimentary samples of treats. Hopefully that'll help you decide on what you're about to get if you don't have anything specific in mind. The quality of the pastries are absolutely top notch and have been visually pleasing as well as great tasting. I've always enjoyed their DKA (so buttery, flaky, sweet and layered so well) and their cronut (which is less flaky than a regular croissant and more chewy, but filled with a sweet flavor). Dominique Ansel offers a monthly cronut in a unique flavor so be sure to return for more every month. I recently enjoyed their strawberry jam vanilla panna cotta ganache cronut and the black + blue pavlova. Both great choices but cronut trumps pavlova in terms of flavor and texture. If anyone cares for the restroom, there is one extremely small restroom to the left mid bakery with a sliding door. Don't get confused or hesitate to ask if those standing near that area are waiting for the restroom or are actually waiting in the bakery line...it can be super crowded. The indoor seating area is only a handful of tables so you may not be able to stay to enjoy if there are many people but there is also a water station with silverware and napkins to the right hand side. Past the double doors on the right is a slightly larger outdoor seating area. Be careful when it rains though! The outdoor seating area is only half covered so heavy rain will definitely cause a lot of splashing. read more

I stopped by this bakery spontaneously after a lunch with friends. The place itself is long and narrow, with seating available in the back area but with the ordering area being a narrow space where pastries are displayed. We had to wait around 10 minutes in line before being able to order. The canele was not too sweet and worth its price! I loved the gooeyness of the chocolate chip cookie and enjoyed splitting different chunks of it for my friends and I to share.
