During my childhood in the 90s, a man actually named Claude owned this bakery. He was a taciturn fellow with knee problems who briefly banned my entire family for reasons unbeknownst to us. After he retired, his protégé Pablo inherited the bakery and mostly maintained the status quo of their baked goods. Their best items were a coffee eclair, a rectangular chocolate mousse cake, and a flimsy but decadent quiche. The new Claude bakery is a bit disingenuous in claiming they've been here since 1982, as little to nothing is maintained from prior ownership. But I sampled a variety of their croissants, including the heirloom tomato variety that surely would have raised Claude's eyebrows. However, they were all quite buttery with good structure and delicious. I was surprised that the tomato was actually my favorite one.

So many great bakeries in NYC! Been keeping an eye on Claude via IG ... I ordered a new item they added recently: Elote croissant with sweet corn, cotija cheese, lime was good however the croissant overpowered the elote. Next time I will try one of their sweet pastries or cakes ... maybe the cherry black forest or chocolate cake or blueberry corn or. The bakery is small, but has great seating for its size, including bar stools in the window. Lovely display case, and each item has a description with price. The shop currently sits under scaffolding so I expect it will be much brighter inside once it is removed. A well dressed owner or manager was meeting with someone at a table... he also welcomed in 2 women who I think may have been content creators/ influencers... he offered to pay for their order. I flew under the radar, LOL. $9.25 with tax. 11:30am on Friday in July, no line (a few people inside enjoying their orders). * social media influence: usually I have a good record with food that grabs me, but in the past 2 weeks I should have stuck with items that were already hits, instead of new seasonal menu items... Also, I normally would order a couple of items to get a broader opinion... next time, I hope! Next stop, back to L'Industrie while I am in the neighborhood. Full carb day!

Stopped by in the late afternoon to get a pastry and it didn't disappoint Ended up getting the strawberry pastry and they had lots of other fruit pastry options It was hard to decide on just one to order but I would definitely go back to try other options in the future It was also nice being able to take it to a nearby park to sit and enjoy it outside. Store is located in a great area

Chocolate was good, not fantastic. Frosting was very sweet. Cake was moist and dense, it took about 3 bites to really start enjoying it.

After going to Claud in the East Village for their well known chocolate cake, we had to compare it to Claude bakery's in the West Village. It's a cute spot with counter service and little bistro tables to snack on. My friend and I shared the blackout cake and the red velvet. The chocolate was definitely the better of the two with its puddling like chocolate buttercream and fun sprinkles. The red velvet texture honestly felt like it was over-mixed before baking. But I can't turn down cream cheese frosting. We didn't try any of their other pastries. Overall, fine if you're craving cake but I prefer a few different bakeries in the area.

Coffee and Pastries are amazing! I really enjoyed my Heirloom Tomato and Swiss Cheese pastry. It was really pricey however (around $8 or 9). I also like the ambiance but the space is very small so great to visit if you are coming alone, with just one other person, or for pick up. The people are also friendly.

I love this slice of cake with real cherry! Small amount of intimate seating inside but the tables are very cute. One worker and they seem to be nice but a bit overwhelmed. no bathroom

My coworker picked me up a chocolate croissant for me and wow! It was one of the best chocolate croissants I've eaten in New York. My preference is certainly for a well-baked, crispy croissant as opposed to a bready/tender croissant, and that is what I received. I will be back!

Honestly the almond croissant is very expensive given the size but it was delicious and had a lot of filling which I enjoyed. Seating inside is limited.

How perfect! Claude bakery takes over the former Patisserie Claude a venerable Village gem. Claude the restaurant makes one of the best chocolate cakes I ever tasted and here there's the Manhattan Blackout cake. $9.95 The spot has been brightened with white and blue hues and this is no ordinary bakery as the Claude chefs are culinary wizards. The blueberry Dani's also looked incredible. Excited for this bakery-to have landed on the West Side.

Croissant. Sour. Wet inside. No butter flavor. All aesthetics.

I finally went in to the new version of Patisserie Claude, called Claude 82. I had assumed it was just a rebranding of the original Claude's, but it is a completely new restaurant with a new look, new owners and new recipes. The once truly French style croissants are now the jumbo plasticine American style with cheap butter flavor, and sour wet dough inside. The outside shell looks beautiful, but it is all aesthetics. Inside Claude 82 is very cutesy and has gone the way of the rest of the Instagram placating coffee spots in town. I was happy to see the same young person working behind the counter as the original Claude's, but that was about the only thing that stayed the same. The croissant and chocolatine were gross, the blueberry danish was good, but not special. The chocolate cake looks good so l'll have to try it, and update my review. That said I won't be getting any of the Viennoiserie here again, it's no different than what you can get on any NYC corner, so unless the cake is really great I just don't know why I'd go here vs anywhere else. If yall have the previous recipes, I'd say go back! They are what kept the original Claude's in business so long. We want to root for you!!!! Let us!

Baked fresh and served in a nice store. A lot of delicious options for croissants and coffee. Some of my favorites here are the Creme Brulee Cruffin, Tiramisu, and Manhattan Blackout Dark Chocolate Cake. Delicious.

Okay well firstly god bless the SINGULAR employee working here. Bro is handling the register, making the coffee, boxing the pastries, taking the orders single-handedly all the while maintaining a super jolly attitude. This place gets insanely busy and the line is honestly never ending. The Manhattan blackout cake was super solid. Definitely better than the Brooklyn blackout competitor at little cupcake bake shop and under ten bucks! Worth a try for sure.

I've never tried a Japanese cheesecake before and was extremely excited to be able to pick up some treats for my coworkers as well as my partner's birthday cake from Keki. Ordering is fairly straightforward and done with a simple machine outfront. Once your order is ready one of the staff members hands it to you through a window; there is no inside area accessible to customers but our food came quickly and we took it back to the office. The cheesecake was fantastic. I read a bit about the background of the shop online and how the owner really cares about using high-quality ingredients, specifically dairy. It was justas described, light and bouncy. I enjoyed how it was not overly sweet and found that it was all too easy to devour the entire cake over the course of two days. Despite it not having much weight to it, it traveled surprisingly well as I took it home on my three train commute! Similar to what others have said, the real highlight of the shop, in my opinion, are their cream puffs. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the outer layer was thin yet had a nice little crunch to it. We tried the classic milk, cookies & cream pistachio and ube flavors. Our favorite was the pistachio by far, which had such a unique yet decadent flavor and our second favorite was the milk cream puff. There's not much else I can say other than you really have to go here and try the desserts yourself. If you're a fan of Japanese desserts that are rich yet not too sweet, you'll be a fan of Keki.

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.
