We went in tonight, Valentine's Day, last minute. They were really full so we weren't expecting a seat, but they were so nice and accommodating (unlike the place we had tried earlier. They flat out told us they didn't have any seats and we'd have to leave). The service was amazing, and actually pretty damn fast. I'm trying to be fair here, but it's really hard for me to separate the enjoyment of this meal with the price. It's sushi. Sushi should be expensive here in Ohio just by virtue of how hard it would be to get fresh and high quality fish, so I understand that, but that being said, I then expect the wow factor to be as high as the price and it just wasn't there. We had a ton of food, so we really had the full experience. We had the V.I.P. Sashimi Sampler which was at market price of $60. My husband didn't blink an eye at the price, but how could you not be disappointed when a mere 8 pieces of fish are brought to your table for that cost?? Yes it was presented nicely over a bowl of ice with condiments of jalepeno, cilantro, green onion, lemon, eel sauce, wasabi and ginger, but $60 for 8 pieces of fish?? It wasn't like it was an exotic offering of fish, half of it was just salmon and tuna. It was fresh, but not exceptional. For comparison, we had the sashimi sampler at Kyoto Ka for $13 and we were served 12 pieces of firm, very fresh tasting fish that was absolutely delicious and didn't need any condiments to dress it up. Don't you just want to taste the delicious raw fish anyway?? We also started with miso soup, which was just mediocre; the seaweed salad and the octopus salad, both of those were good, but of the two we preferred the octopus salad. Rolls...we ordered the Viper Roll, the Unaka Roll, the Superman Roll, the Black Dragon Roll, the Nagatori (sp?-it's the blue fin belly and scallions) and the sweet shrimp sashimi. The Unaka and the Black Dragon were the table's favorite rolls. In defense of the restaurant, the Viper and Superman were too "mayo-y" for us, which is not their fault at all. The "Nagatori" which is suppose to be super high quality was so unremarkable that I'm struggling with even describing it. The sweet shrimp sashimi was delightful though, as were there crispy little fried heads. So, for $175 we had some decent sushi. This was for three people. Honestly, I left hungry and I'm a small person. So, had it been priced the way that Kyoto Ka (so far my favorite Toledo restaurant for sushi) or even Nagoya is, I would have been more inclined to give it higher marks. If you really want great sushi for a fair price (not cheap mind you but who wants to each cheap sushi?) go to Kyoto Ka. read more

For years this has been my favorite restaurant. In the past year, the experience has slipped. While the food is a consistent B+-A-, the service has completely fallen off. Tonight my wife and I had a terrible service experience. We ordered drinks and our food. When I finished my drink--a Tanqueray martini with blue cheese olives--my glass was taken with no offer of another. When I finished my water it was never refilled. I finally flagged down a different waiter to order another drink--a Negroni. Fifteen minutes later, our waiter appeared with a champagne glass garnished with a lime wedge and started to pour out a clear cocktail. I asked what is this--she told me it was another martini with blue cheese olives--it was not and it wasn't what I ordered. Then the waiter I ordered the Negroni from returned with the champagne glass and shaker and tried to tell me it was the Negroni, I told him I had ordered it before and showed him the drink menu noting it's description as "ruby red". He then told me a story about his uncle drinking Campari. He asked if he could "doctor" the drink somehow apparently sticking to the story that it was the drink I ordered. Finally he told me he would take the drink off my bill--wow. My wife was never asked if she wanted another drink. We then waited another ten minutes to get our check and pay--still without a water refill. I don't want restaurants to make up for mistakes or poor service--I don't want them to happen. When repeated poor service interferes with my joy of dinning somewhere, I just don't return. Until my friends tell things have changed at Domo this is my goodbye. I am saddened read more

A hidden gem in the city of Toledo! The atmosphere is very clean and hip. We ordered 2 different rolls along with salmon and white tuna nigiri. AND OMG, the sushi chef seriously sliced the most beautiful piece of nigiri. The white tuna was carefully torched, and the salmon tasted very fresh as well. I really liked Domo the first few times I had been there. I usually always got the Maki Karai but recently I decided that I really liked the salmon. I often order to go so I like to make sure that my salmon is not overcooked otherwise by the time I get home it will be tough. I've ordered the salmon a couple times and it was very good. Recently I ordered it (making sure to ask that it not be overcooked) and to my surprise, the salmon was blackened and completely overcooked. By the time I had seen it, Domo had closed so I called in the morning. My server from the night before - Matt - answered and I explained my issue. He was so, so disrespectful to me. I was baffled. I was a loyal customer, I tipped well, and I was always kind. He said, "Well, I don't know what you want us to do about it. We can't control what happens when the salmon gets in the box." I tried to explain that the salmon was burnt and that it was not because it was in the box, but I was not getting through to him. So I asked to be speak to the manager. Matt bluntly stated that he was not there - and did not offer a time as to when he would be in. So I asked when the manager would be in. He said around 5. I called back at 5 and the manager was not there. I called back the next day around 11 and one of the waitresses told me that he was not there. So I called back at 5 and asked Matt to speak to the manager. He told me the manager was on the phone and that he spoke with him about the salmon. He let me know that because I was having so many issues with the salmon, I was no longer ALLOWED to order it. UM, EXCUSE ME??? ALLOWED?? Then he said that they'll still LET me order take out in the future... LET ME??? What the heck?? This is the first issue I had ever had with my food. I had a few choice words for him and their lack of customer service then asked to have him have the manager call me back. That was 3 hours ago. Still no call. I will not be returning to a place that thinks it is privilege for me to order take out. I'll take my $30 a plate and eat elsewhere. read more

We had a 7 pm reservation for dinner with our Kids who were in from out of town. Arrive and the open table for 6 was being held for a 730 reservation? We were told it would be a 35-45 minute wait? Hello, I would like to write a review for Domo Sushi. Recently I went to Domo Sushi and was greeted by the manager Matt, and let me say he was absolutely wonderful! I've never seen such a charismatic handsome individual in my life. Oh did I forget to say he's the manager as well! Matt was so polite and sat us at a great table he was very funny and knowledgeable about the menu list. When he informed us of the menu he never once was mean to us , which I can really appreciate. When we got our food it was absolutely terrific. Best sushi in Toledo! If anyone does make their way to Domo Sushi you better pray to the high Lord himself Matt is your server because my God what a great server and even a better manager! We have been to Domo several times and really enjoy it. The presentation is 5 star and the servers are always extremely friendly and knowledgeable about ingredients as some of our friends have food allergies. My only reason for not giving this restaurant a 5 star is because my favorite eel is my favorite sushi and there is very little eel on the sushi menu. However, when I asked for eel and eel sauce to be substituted for another fish, they were very accommodating. Maybe I should just change the 4 star to a 5 star..... read more

Great sushi. However, they need to get their service straight. Do I need to know that the reason why I can't place a to-go order is because, "the sushi bar is already WAAAY backed up,"? Or that it is a result of all the reservations they have when on their Facebook page it states they are not taking reservations? I've let the varying in-person service levels slide since this is the best sushi I have had outside of Japan. But Domo, this lack of professionalism leaves a lot to be desired. If you decide not to take reservations, fine: just be consistent. If you decide not to take carry-out orders at 6pm, please teach your staff some manners. I have recommended you many times, but can't say I will do so at this point. This is by far the worst sushi restaurant we have ever been to. We didn't get our appetizer that we ordered and instead we waited an hour and a half to get our meal. We literally watched everyone get their food before us even though we ordered way before. The waitress was more of a sales person than a waitress and tried up selling every dish that we ordered. We felt pressured into spending more money than we wanted. When our sushi arrived, It was smothered in so much wasabi that our eyes were watering with every bite. It was difficult to even eat it. The best experience we had here was sitting at the bar while we waited for a table. The girl at the bar was very nice and took care of us while we waited without trying to sell us everything under the sun. It was more than the worst sushi restaurant but the worst restaurant in general that we have ever been to.
