Cauliflower Tempura & Fried Avocado tacos, Mexican Corn, side of rice & guac!! Delivery to the Gaylord - wonderful!

I adore don taco. I'd eaten here a few years back & it was so good I made a point to return (in to-go fashion after a long day). I must say, the food was excellent to begin with, but it's gotten even better. I recalled during my previous dine-in visit, I'd not much cared for the fried avocado tacos... which surprised me. I decided to try again this time and wow, very glad that I did!! Not sure what they changed, but it seems they've slightly tweaked that particular taco & wow, amazing!! The cauliflower has been excellent across the board, but truly both are top notch!! I enjoyed the Mexican corn too, however in delivery form, it was a bit melty. Truly excellent food! Wonderful vegetarian options, love to see creative choices such as those available at don taco!! Very pleasant in my room, I do enjoy dining in as well, but it's a bit more of a bar vibe, so I'd say that's something I prefer with a companion. Very much recommend & absolutely will be back.

I don't make it out to Alexandria too often, but since it was a halfway point between a friend and me, it worked out perfectly. We chose Don Taco--because really, you can't go wrong with chips, salsa, and drinks for a quick happy hour. The salsa had a great smoky kick, and the empanada I ordered was flavorful and satisfying. My friend's taco looked solid too. Overall, it made for a great evening! We ended up staying for almost two hours. If the weather's nice, I highly recommend grabbing a table outside. It's perfect for people-watching--and the constant stream of dogs passing by only adds to the charm. Service started off strong--the staff was attentive and quick to check in. Toward the end of our visit, it did take a bit longer for someone to swing by, though to be fair, we were deep in conversation and had kept assuring them we were all set.

Great spot for the vibes! Modern Mexican spot on King St that has some great drinks. Bartender was very attentive to all the customers and communicating with the rest of staff. Food has some potential for improvement from the quality to presentation. Amazing place for a hangout with friends or colleagues after work. I happen to be seated at the bar and it was a little bit crowded but it wasn't really an issue for me. Depending on the day, parking can be challenging and may have to park on a neighboring street from the downtown area.

Never disappoints! It's not the cheapest taco place, but worth it. They've remodeled so it's a bit more bright and playful.

Don Taco is a place I've been going to over the past 7 years and they consistently get it right. They're located on kings St in OTA. The menu items are fairly priced at a high quality. I always get 4 tacos because that's the magic number for satiation. They have outdoor seating and 2 floors indoors. Wait time for tacos is less than 10 minutes. This place knows what it's doing and how to do it well.

Great spot located in Old Town Alexandria. They have seating both up and downstairs. The service was great. We ordered tacos and had cocktails/beer.

Delicious drinks! I stopped in during happy for a quick drink and app. I was so intrigued by the tequila infused margarita so had to get one! The bartender recommended the gummy bear one and it was so fun! Sweet but balanced. Guacamole app was great too although a bit pricey for just guac.

This has become my go to spot for tacos in Old Town. This place is just great. I usually sit at the bar but sometimes get take-out. The bartenders are always quick to greet you and attentive. The restaurant is small and quaint, but I often get sat immediately. Food comes out super fast and is super tasty. I've not had a single taco I didn't love yet. I think on the last visit I got the land and sea, which is a steak and shrimp taco with caramelized onions and a horseradish sauce, the blue fin, which is a tuna with seaweed and a wasabi sauce, and the birria taco. I also love the carnitas, al pastor, and carne asada tacos from prior visits. I usually get a pacifico to drink, but often see many patrons getting different tequilas or margaritas that all look really good. Check out Don Taco next time you are in Old Town Alexandria and get the taco craving.

Visited here with a friend and had a wonderful experience! Food/drinks: I got fajitas and a drink which were both wonderful - I thought the meat (I got steak) was actually sooo yummy (made and seasoned very well). Ambiance: cute! Parking is difficult in the area (but that's Alexandria popularity for ya). Service: this part was just okay for me. One thing that got under my skin a tiny bit was that the server did not know what gluten was. I think that's a basic knowledge point all servers should have!

Mini chicken empanadas

Nice little spot. Easy to make a reservation. Friendly service. Mini empanadas were delicious. Chips and salsa were perfect. And they have a wide variety of different tacos to try. Margaritas were a little weak.

I came here with my son and really enjoyed this experience. My son, who really enjoys Mexican food, asked for a place in Alexandria after church. We landed on Don Taco, and to my surprise, it's a great find. As with most places in Alexandria, Virginia, there isn't much parking, but that is to be expected. We were quickly seated, and my son commented. His only dislike was that the booth was very low, so if you were not 5 feet tall, it may have been a little difficult to eat at a booth. We relocated to an outdoor seating area in the walkway, which was nice, but it does get a little busy with passersby. The food was nice. My son had three birria tacos without cheese because he is allergic to all dairy. The server was very cautious and insured. His food was made properly, was hot, and delivered in a timely manner. I started with the Mexican Street corn and had three different tacos: one birria taco, one Al Pastor, and one carne asada. The food was hot except for the corn. All in all it was a good experience.

My wife and I arrived around 1:20 p.m. on a Thursday. The lunch crowd was still going strong, which only reinforced that we had picked a popular spot. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill almost immediately. When we walked in, there was no hostess to be found. After waiting about four minutes, she finally appeared and offered us a choice between a small table in the corner or one by the bar. Given how busy the restaurant was, we took the table by the bar. About seven minutes later, someone finally came by to offer us water and explained that our server was busy, but she would help us in the meantime. No problem. We ordered the Avo Goddess Salad and asked that it be split so we could share it. A few minutes later, our server arrived, introduced herself, and we let her know we had already ordered the salad and were ready to place our lunch orders. She was very helpful in guiding my wife toward the Old Bay Shrimp Burger. I was excited to order the Shrimp and Grits until I learned it contained Andouille sausage and, according to our server, couldn't be prepared without it. Since the restaurant highlights that everything is made from scratch, that surprised me. I ended up ordering the Ahi Tuna Salad instead. So far, so good. Then came the frustration. We spent the next 20 minutes slowly picking at our salad, growing increasingly hungry and confused. You know something is wrong when guests who were seated after you begin receiving their meals before you. Finally, at 2:10 p.m., our food arrived: my Ahi Tuna Salad and a Pulled Lamb Sandwich for my wife. Except my wife had ordered the Shrimp Burger. When we pointed out the mistake to what was now our third server, she quickly assured us it would be corrected. A few minutes later, our original server returned and took full responsibility. She explained that the lamb and shrimp items are next to each other in the POS system and she accidentally selected the wrong item. She assured us the Shrimp Burger would be out in two minutes and suggested we enjoy the fries that came with the lamb sandwich while we waited. Unfortunately, another ten minutes passed before the burger finally arrived. Here's where things became truly disappointing: the top bun was still cold--almost frozen. My wife ended up removing it entirely and eating the sandwich with just the bottom bun. At best, the Shrimp Burger was decent, but certainly not worth the wait and frustration. As for my Ahi Tuna Salad, it felt like something I could easily make at home, especially considering the $25 price tag. I'm also not entirely convinced the tuna was particularly fresh. I can't bring myself to give Matt and Tony's one star because the atmosphere is genuinely cool and inviting. So I settled on two stars--mostly for how I felt before the experience unraveled. And listen, I get it. Mistakes happen. We're all human. But as someone who eats out frequently, here's one piece of advice: when a restaurant makes a significant mistake with a customer's order, consider taking that item off the bill. Sometimes that gesture is the only reason a guest decides to come back.
