Today my wife and I went to El Sereno a suburb of L.A.near where we live there's a Mexican restaurant that was very curious about I heard many good restaurants are growing around in El Sereno. I know this area well I went to school in El Sereno. The restaurant is walking distance from El Sereno middle school but finding parking can be tricky because the streets are tight. Found parking then we walk a very short distance to the restaurant. We step in the restaurant we notice the restaurant is small but interior is very colorful and the touch of Mexico especially from Leon, Guanajuato where the owner and chef from. Different parts or states of Mexico have the same or different kind of their own food traditional. We were greet by the owner and chef himself and sat where we like,then he got our drink order then look and menu display. My wife decided to order the chilaquiles come an egg on top the chilaquiles and myself I got chili Colorado with nopals it's cactus. It's been many years I try chili Colorado with Nopals comes with tortilla. Everything from the kitchen is scratch made and made to order like tradition in Mexico home cooking is comfort food. The chef brought us our meal it look wonderful including my wife chilaquiles and also my chili Colorado with nopals before we order the chef told us they have chili Colorado with nopals he give a sample my wife she like but little bit spicy I tasted I enjoy it I decided to order it. I took a bit of the chile Colorado with nopals amazing flavors including the red chili sauce complex with spices and chile add so much flavor and beef was very tender and falling apart. And the rice and bean great flavors in this great meal but the tortilla makes this meal great but I can add the tortilla in sauce make meal more better. My wife enjoy her chilaquiles she love she gives me some to try this chilaquiles are good I enjoy it. Overall we enjoy the meal we need to come back and try a different items from then menu including their tacos Dorados de papa estilo Neon Guanajuato. I recently discovered Dos Tonos Restaurant on Yelp while searching for the best nachos in the East Los Angeles area. It's definitely a hole-in-the-wall spot. The inside is cute and made me feel like I was in a village in Mexico. They offer all the traditional Mexican dishes: tacos dorados, burritos, enchiladas, chilaquiles, and nachos. I ordered the nachos rancheros to go, which came with carne asada, beans, cheese, pico de gallo, sour cream, and guacamole. The tortilla chips were homemade and stayed crispy, which was a big plus. The carne asada came in big pieces, well-seasoned and tasty, though I wish it had a bit more char. I also liked that they went light on the beans. They were just lightly smeared on the chips, which I prefer since too many beans can overpower the nachos. I tried both their green and red salsas. The green was mild, the red had some heat, and both were good. Customer service was solid. The person who helped me was polite and friendly. read more

Yelpers brought me to this place and I gotta say, it was a hit! I ordered the chilaquiles and was not disappointed. You know they're going to be good when the owner says "they're spicy" not "how spicy would you like them". They came out with just the right amount of rice, beans, and a little container of sour cream to help curb the heat. Little piece of heaven! Found this cute little spot in LA a couple weeks ago and it is very clean and had exceptional customer service. Food was OMG, to die for, it was so good! Reasonable prices. I had the green chilaquiles with scrambled eggs, rice beans, it was perfection. The salsa was so delicious and spicy. Ive had green chilaquiles at other places and they are usually acidly because of the tomatillo, but THESE WERE SO DELICIOUS , loved it. I recently found this restaurant on Yelp while looking for a place to have lunch on the way to a game at the Rose bowl. Parking is all street parking and you will probably have to walk a little ways but nothing too crazy. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side with a few tables, maybe 4-5. We ordered at the counter and sat down. I ordered an enchilada plate and an orange-pineapple agua Fresca and my bf got the spicy enchilada plate. The food came out pretty quickly and everything was delicious! The enchiladas came with fluffy rice and tasty beans. The agua fresca was not too sweet and very refreshing. We live right up the street from this place. When I went a few years ago, it felt pretty run down, but my partner and I are trying to visit more, and it is SO nice in there. Bright, colorful, and service is friendly and warm. Food is amazing. Chill vibes. Partner loves the potato tacos, and their Spanish rice is some of the best I've had. We walked here, but there is parking in the residential streets around. I have not figured out what the bathroom situation is, because there is no visible bathroom, but I figure they will let you in the back if you need. Haven't tried yet. read more

My handyman brought me lunch from this local place today. Take lessons boys on proper etiquette. I had never heard of this place so I thanked him and told him whatever he was having was fine with me. The chicken definitely had a kick; however, the Mexican rice was just average. The salad was a mix of iceberg lettuce, pico de gallo and queso fresco. The show stopper was this green sauce! I have no idea what type of a sauce it is but it pairs well with the chicken. The entree also came with a red sauce that's pretty spicy and it's going to pair well with some eggs for breakfast tomorrow lol. Waste not, want not. ‍ Is this the best food i have ever had? No. The reviews for this place, however, all praise the typical Mexican dishes so now that I know this place exists so close, I will definitely be exploring other menu items and see if I can we swayed to give it one more .
