I haven't been in 5 years and was so happy the shrimp appetizer with the cannelloni was still on the menu. All of my food was just as I remembered it the previous 10 years. This place should have a small rotating stage for a small band with all those booth seats surrounding it. Yes I just had a vision! I took my 16 year old daughter and her friend. This was one of the most amazing culinary experiences I've had in my life. My boyfriend and I decided to dine here because we were already seeing a show at the Southpoint show room, so this was very convenient. The restaurant is located right off of the parking garage elevator, which is nice for those who don't want to walk long distances. Our server Mario was extremely attentive and so pleasant, he gave us great recommendations. The Tuscan Cosmo was delicious and might have something to do with the fact that they add Prosecco to it. For appetizers, we had the calamari which is served with garlic, aïoli and mariana sauce, very tasty. I ordered the special which was a filet mignon with crab stuffed ravioli and it was superb. I also tried a little bit of my boyfriend's seafood Diavola, and it was so delicious. The portions are pretty sizable for an upscale restaurant, and overall we noticed everything was very reasonably priced, especially the drinks and desserts. The general atmosphere is very chill. The crowd, because of the hotel where it's located, is a little bit older and while my boyfriend and I chose to dress up because it was date night, some people were wearing very casual clothing and didn't have a problem getting in. We ordered the NY strip which was grilled and seasoned to perfection, got the best Caesar salad Ive ever had and also started with their table bread that came with a bruschetta type of topping which were both great! I got the veal piccata that had a sauce to die for! We got a dirty martini a manhattan which were only 8.75$ each! Then we ended with a cannoli which was a perfectly done dessert! The following day the recurring agitated burping was uncontrollable. The food eaten was shrimp cocktail, chicken milenese and piccatta. A glass of Louis M. Martini wine. That's it. First time eating here. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated. We were then greeted by a girl who took our drink order. She came back with some assorted bread and some mix that had tomatoes and garlic , oil and spice and some other stuff not sure what. It was pretty good with the bread. It was a bit messy to try putting on your bread. Make sure to use your napkin as a bib! Then the waiter came over and greeted us and asked if we had any questions. It didn't take long for the salads to come out and then the rest of the order. I was surprised at the amount of clams my husband got in his linguine. He really enjoyed this. They put quite a few clams on top and some mixed throughout. I had Eggplant Parmesan. I was amazed they didn't skimp on the cheese. I thought this was pretty good. The eggplant sliced real thing and layered with a ricotta mix. Not bad. I even asked if they could substitute the penne pasta and they did to angel hair pasta. I couldn't eat it all. Leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Over all it's a pretty good place from the decor to the food. I am sure we will make our way there again sometime. read more

Walked passed Don Vito's after an evening of gambling. Walked in and was immediately greeted by Hostess who also sat us immediately. She apologize for not having a booth which we requested but table seating ended up being very comfortable. They are following CDC guidelines with the social distancing and sanitation. Our drink server came by like 2 minutes after we were seated and our server Boris came by as soon as we got our water. He was very pleasant with the knowledge of their menu. My hubby ended up getting Boris favorite entree and I ended up getting lasagna. Both entrees were delicious and so satisfying. Dessert we got the custard orange something, totally forgot it's name but it was so delicious. Moscato and Moscow Mule was delicious as well. The food here is good for the price point, but nothing to write home about. The wait staff are all very nice, but the service is quite slow. We waited a good 30 minutes before the salads were served, and then another 20 minutes after salad plates were collected before our entrees were given to us. At one point, our food just sat on the cart under plate covers for about 10 minutes waiting for a bus or our waiter to bring serve it. By the time the food hit our table, everything was just warm and not hot! All in all, the food and service was pretty mid. Would I purposely seek out Don Vito? Perhaps not... but I wouldn't be mad if I had to eat there again. read more

We had a great time at Don Vito's. I had the chicken parmigiana with a side of pasta I enjoyed it throughly. My husband had the shrimp scampi he said it was excellent. We both had the Caesar salad table side, fun having it prepared in front of us. Of course we needed to try the dessert we had the pineapple upside down cake but instead of the vanilla ice cream we got the cherry and that was so good. Very good Italian food found out the South point. We got there around opening and got a nice secluded little spot. Very dark restaurant so if you have a trouble reading in the dark I would use your phones flashlight. The staff is extremely attentive coming around often for refills or just ask how you're doing. You are automatically given a bread basket with a small assortment of different breads as well as tomato based dip of sorts that you can use with it. I ordered a Caesar salad with my meal which they tossed it table side which was nice. The chicken parmesan was good, very filling especially if you decide to add pasta to it like I did. For dessert we got tiramisu which was fantastic, you could taste the Kahlua that they used when making it. read more

I am a frequent guest of Southpoint hotel. This morning I called and made a reservation as I usually do for this evening at 5 pm for 4 people at Don Vito's. I spoke to a very nice lady and I received a text from her confirming my reservation. However, when I gave my name to the manager at Don Vito's, he questioned me and did not believe that I had a reservation. After an uncomfortable period of time while he checked his computer and tried to prove I did not have a reservation, he questioned how I got the reservation. I told him I called Restaurant Reservations this morning and I showed him the confirmation text on my phone. He intimated that my reservation had not been done properly. He embarrassed me in front of my friends. No apology. I was left feeling that he thought that I had gotten one over him somehow. He then reluctantly seated us. I should have left. read more

Meh. I dont see us returning to Don Vito's, even though we frequently stop by Southpoint. To begin with, we didnt know we had to have a reservation to eat here because we had never eaten here before and none of the other places we frequent on the property require reservations, and there is no sign or notice to that affect posted. We were seated in a curved banquette booth facing the glass windows that separate the restaurant from the casino floor, so the view wasnt great. When we arrived, the restaurant was LOUD. And I am not exaggerating. LOUD. I couldn't detect any gentle mood music or any effective sound dampening measures in their single, wide open dining room. The heckling, guffawing, hooting and general drunk and disorderliness coming from three or four tables near us was ridiculous, annoying, incredibly stressful and a complete turnoff. The staff should have cut those patrons off, alcohol-wise instead of continuing to serve them, thereby encouraging the screaming, hooting drunken merrymaking. That part alone made this a miserable experience. They brought a basket of two yeast rolls, two (ciabatta?) buns with a dollop of baked pasta sauce and cheese broiled on top and two really lovely, paper thin and delicate crackers with cheese broiled on them and a small pot of olive oil and diced marinated tomatoes and garlic cloves with a tiny spoon. We snacked while waiting for our food and while it was ok, we felt it would have been much better to omit the yeast rolls and if they had brought oil and vinegar and served butter. YMMV. Shortly after our free bread basket arrived, two servers arrived with a cart covered by a linen cloth and salad ingredients. We watched them make our individual salads and it was a neat experience, but not one we *need* when eating out. But still, kinda cool. It felt fancy! Both of our salads were cleaned, chilled, fresh greens without any sign of wilting or rust (lookin' at you, TGI Fridays) and somehow, without having asked us if we like more or less dressing, we each got the perfect amount of dressing when we always have to ask for extra. So maybe these people who say their salads had too much dressing like their salads on the drier side, and these negative reviews regarding the salads could be resolved by training the staff to ask the customer whose salad they are making whether they like less or more dressing? Just something for Don Vito's management to consider... I also wanted to mention that my salad had no carrots, cucumbers or croutons but it had sliced hearts of palm, quartered artichoke hearts and they shredded cheese over it, which was very nice. I ordered the 5 cheese raviolis in the only sauce option they provided, a pomodoro sauce. I... did not enjoy the Pomodoro "sauce" at all. There was nothing saucy about it. What I got were several large raviolis (definitely freshly made in-house) absolutely sandwiched by/smothered in "chunky Italian salsa" . It was CHUNKY. And the flavor of the pomodoro wasnt appealing to me. Service was on the slow side, so I decided to scrape as much of the gross Pomodoro from above and beneath my raviolis and managed to eat most of them before I couldnt bear to taste one more dab of that atrocious pomodoro again, rather than send it back to be remade as I have seen plenty of other reviewers have had to do here. It might have been sent out beautiful and delish if I had, but I cant comment on it because I didnt take that step. My dining companion had the chicken alfredo, which he said was delicious. I had a taste of his sauce and noodle and found them to be sufficiently saucy with good flavor, and the Fettucini noodles also seemed to be made fresh, in-house. The loud, racket-producing patrons finally left so we did get to enjoy a somewhat quieter meal in an expensive restaurant that wants to sell itself as a romantic, intimate spot and fails on both accounts, but it NEVER got actually quiet. The entirety of our meal was spent having to raise voices to be heard over the din, or just try to lip read, other than those few last moments. And that is truly unfortunate, because they are missing the mark but they dont HAVE TO if only they made the effort to get it quieter with more sound dampening accoustic measures at least. The waiter passed our table no less than 5 times after our entrees arrived, and saw that I had intentionally shoved all of my sauce to the side, yet didn't ask if Id like a different sauce. While I dont require that (because at that point I just wanted to gulp what I could and get outta there), it would have been nice of him to have made that effort. It took a long time to get our bill and when it came, I asked for to-go cups for our drinks only to be told "We dont do that"... so then WHY did the drinks girl (who told us this) bring us each two full glasses of soda with the check on the table waiting to be paid? That's wasteful and annoying. read more

We didn't expect such a great ambiance, service and food. If you are in a hurry this is not for you. I like that we were not rushed. We went for dinner with 2 of my boys (9 and 5) and my eldest just enjoyed his first fine dining experience. He said he wanted to come back and thought we should have more fine dining especially when he is all grown up. It was a surprise for him to think that way for his age. Food were cooked well and delicious. Also, we stayed at The Grandview and the hotel gave us coupons. One of them was free wine with a purchase at Don Vito's so me and my husband got our wine for free. We had the 3 course meal here for NYE and it was $54 and it included a bottle of wine for every 2 people. Everything was fabulous. Service was awesome also. I would definitely recommend this to anyone if they have this next year. We ate here because we also had a package deal in one of the ballroom at the Southpoint hotel where this restaurant is in to watch a band play. So we didn't have to drive to a different place. Decided to try this place for the first time a couple weeks back and have been back again already; first time with a reservation and second time was able to get a table as a walk-in, but it got busy quickly. Ambience is nice. Free bread was really good, had meatballs for appetizer and they were a bit small for the price. Had Caesar salad and lasagna (both times) for main course. It was quite good (I always add some pepper flakes for a bit of extra spice no matter where I go) and a decent quantity for sure. Service was really good, everyone was very friendly. Drinks were refilled without even asking for it and the course timing for service was spot on.
