We stopped by for a quick snack of oysters and clams and a beer. We were very happy with our selections and choices available. The staff was extremely friendly, especially our outside bartender Gabrielle, who was fantastic, so personable and creative with her drinks. Honestly, the drinks and her service were the best part of our experience. We started with the lobster wraps, which were good, but the tarragon and dill were very strong and overpowered the lobster. Next we had the scallops for $38, which I didn't feel were worth the price about 12 small scallops with a bit of lettuce. They were cooked well, corn sauce was nice but nothing particularly special, and I would've ordered differently knowing what I was getting. We were still hungry, so we got the rigatoni, which was delicious. My only note was again the heavy use of fresh dill, which started to overpower an otherwise great dish. Overall, I would absolutely come back for the location, the great staff, and especially Gabrielle. I'd return for drinks and try different menu items next time.

The one disappointing thing though was when I asked about if an order of 3 churros was enough for two people. The girl said they were small--about six inches or less each. So we ordered 6. These were full size churros and 6 was wayyyyy too much for 2 people. Other than that everything was fine. The ambiance is cute. There are lots of adorable little details. The pricing for the drinks was a bit expensive in my opinion, but what I had was tasty. I'd check it out again if in the area.

From the moment you step inside, it is a full-on kaleidoscope of color & decor. Everywhere you look, there is something bold, quirky & fun! And the food? Just as creative as the space. We went as part of RI Food Fights #BestBreakfastSandwich & Ozzo absolutely delivered. I selected the Breakfast of Champions - scrambled eggs, seasoned pulled pork, onions & queso fresco on an English muffin. Hubby went with the Pepper Jack Ham - scrambled eggs, diced ham, onion & pepper jack cheese on an English muffin. Both were hearty & delicious! You can't go to Ozzo & not order the churros. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside & the spicy cinnamon sugar was yummi. The drinks deserve a spotlight of their own. They have Mexican Coke & a bunch of different flavors of Jarritos flavors which they use to make dirty sodas. I tried "The Over Thinker" - a Dr. Pepper creation taken to a whole new level with strawberry drizzle inside the cup, vanilla bean cold foam on top &, because Ozzo is proudly extra, finished with sprinkles, edible gold & freeze-dried strawberries. It is truly over-the-top & honestly as pretty as it was delicious. Ozzo doesn't just serve food - it serves vibes! Bright, welcoming, whimsical & completely memorable. Westerly is lucky to have this gem. NOM NOM NOM #YU

What a serendipitous find!! There's quite a few good restaurants in and around Mystic, Connecticut…read moreand Westerly, Rhode Island and this wonderful place must be considered up there with the absolute BEST! The food was high quality, mostly locally sourced and perfectly prepared. Sauces and seasoning couldn't have been tastier. Went there a few days ago for the first time. My first choice was the "Summer Fettuccine" which unfortunately was so popular it had recently sold out. I settled for the more plebeian hanger steak which at any random restaurant can be anywhere from meh (mediocre) to excellent. This was EXCELLENT! Tender and tasty. Loved it. I decided to come backcountry the next morning and sample their breakfast fare. Equally delicious. So satisfying. Had a few things all excellent but the "simple" (not really so simple) "Morning Taco" was outstanding; definitely a cut above. I don't know if my stomach would have had room but my tingling brain was saying I could have had FOUR of those, nothing else and have left happy as a lark, owl, dove...

We tried a few different things but our favorites were the tomato burrata and the chicken schnitzel. We didn't care too much for the Johnny cakes since it didn't have flavor to it. Our server was gracious enough to swap out our drink after sharing I didn't like. They do have a lovely drink menu tho with cocktails and mocktails.

New Rivers is very good, Little Moss in Dartmouth is great, Vanda is delicious. Ella's is a step above. The flavor pairings on the main menu are exceptional. Don't miss the Vegan Dreaming. Order it with a protein - chicken, duck or scallops - it's un-real good. The veal chop, the venison, the halibut, the scallops, the chicken and grits - all of them - dear god so good. And get dessert from the special menu. I promise whatever the chef has dreamed up will be both delicious and memorable. Don't miss it.

I recently went to Ella's after hearing some very good things about the restaurant, but…read moreunfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. We started in the lounge and ordered a couple of martinis. It took about five minutes before the bartender really acknowledged us, and it seemed like there was only one bartender trying to take care of the entire restaurant. When my martini finally arrived, it was noticeably under-poured--about an inch below the top of the glass. That wasn't a great first impression, but I decided to give the restaurant a chance. I ordered the miso salmon but asked if the black rice could be substituted. I was told, rather emphatically, that the person in the kitchen is not a cook but a chef, and that the chef's dishes are "exquisite" and are what they are. I understand having a chef's vision and wanting to preserve the integrity of a dish, but I was surprised that they wouldn't make a simple substitution. I was told that the only way to change anything was to order another item from the menu, at an additional charge. That approach just didn't sit well with me. At most of the restaurants I frequent, especially at this price point, there is usually some willingness to accommodate a reasonable request. It also struck me as unusual that a chef wouldn't be willing to make a minor adjustment to a dish. At that point, I decided to order a small appetizer, finish my half-poured martini, and try my luck somewhere else. Fortunately, the night was saved by a visit to an Italian restaurant up the road. What a difference! The experience was fantastic. They were happy to tweak a pasta dish for me and even added anchovies, which were absolutely outstanding. The guys are from Italy, and the food and hospitality reflected that. I have no doubt that the chef at Ella's is talented and that there are people who really enjoy the restaurant. I went there because I had heard some very good things, but I had also heard some negative reviews and wanted to see for myself. Unfortunately, my experience confirmed some of those concerns. For me, a great restaurant is about more than the food. It's the combination of food, service, hospitality, and the willingness to make a guest feel welcome. Ella's missed the mark for me on this visit. The Italian on the other hand, turned what started as a disappointing evening into a great one.
