Spent "Mother's Day" weekend visiting Oceanside with my wife, so we decided to try Don's Country Kitchen. The food was delicious, our service was excellent and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the outdoor dining was great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're just visiting or reside locally, please consider Don's Country Kitchen...I promise you it won't disappoint. Note: The menu offers an array of delicious options to choose from.

Wow this was my first eating here and it was 10/10. It is very busy and it probably has a lot to do with today being a holiday Juneteenth. So we got there at a great time before the line got really long. The servers are so nice and awesome. Chris was a nice person who Got our drinks and I didn't get the name of the actual person who was our server. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We sat outside and enjoyed the fresh air and the beautiful ambiance outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The prices were steep for me but worth it.

Came here for breakfast with the fam and it did not disappoint. If you are a looking for a hearty and comforting breakfast this is the spot. The hash browns were AMAZING so crispy and good, probably the best I've had in a while. The biscuits and gravy were super good too :) I enjoyed them but my fiancée who loves salt said it could use a bit more. The stuffed hash-brown was great as well. The eggs were cooked great and the hollandaise sauce was tasty. Cinnamon roll was bomb!! Warm and ooey gooey just like a cinnamon roll should be. Service was great and the place was cute and cozy. Don's Country Kitchen is THAT spot. A small, hidden gem and a true locals-only favorite--and for very good reason. We've been here countless times and the food has never let us down. We've worked our way through almost the entire menu over multiple visits and can confidently say: there is no bad food here. My absolute favorite is Bea's Stuffed Hashbrown--a must-order every single time. On a recent visit, I tried the vanilla chai latte and accidentally received it hot instead of iced. Our waitress immediately fixed it, let us keep the hot one, and still brought out the iced version. Top-tier service like that deserves major praise. Every server here is amazing--friendly, fast, and genuinely welcoming. There's almost always a wait (yes, even on weekdays), which just proves how good this place is. The pancakes are MASSIVE and ridiculously delicious, and the chicken sandwich is one of our go-to lunch favorites. We absolutely love Don's and will keep coming back again and again. If you haven't been yet... you're missing out.

We were referred to Don's Country Kitchen by a local, and it definitely lived up to the recommendation. From the moment we arrived, the staff gave off a warm, family vibe that made the experience feel welcoming. Cinnamon Roll ($6): Cinnamon roll served warm with a thick slab of butter and icing. Soft, fluffy, and really satisfying. Country Stuffed Hash Browns ($19.95): Crispy hash browns layered and stuffed with bacon, sausage, grilled onions, cheese, and country gravy topped with two over-easy eggs. Comes with toast or a biscuit. Very filling and flavorful. Meat Lovers Omelette ($19.95): A three-egg omelette packed with bacon, ham, sausage, and cheese, served with a side of home fries or hash browns and toast or a biscuit. I chose the home fries stir-fried with peppers and onions and upgraded to biscuits and gravy for $2.50. The omelette was solid overall, though the biscuit leaned a bit dry. Parking is limited to a small lot with about 8 spots but street parking is also available in the surrounding area.

It's no secret I absolutely love Dons, and you should too. Every friend we have it town- Dons is a must visit. Four of us came on our latest visit, in the weekend downpour. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They cleared a section under the tents for us and others to wait out the rain while our table was getting set up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Cinnamon Roll was a table favorite and the stuffed hash browns were incredible. They do extra crispy bacon perfectly, the servers are super nice, and I'll just keep coming back!

If I lived closer to this spot I would be coming here all the time because their brunch is so good! I have not been here in a couple of years now but I will be back sooner for sure or have it be our treat of a brunch spot on the weekends or a day off. I am a hashbrown lover, I truly wish I could figure out how to make restaurant or diner quality hash browns at home and I have never been able to figure out how to make them as good. Anyways they have loaded hash browns here which are 2 big pieces of hashbrowns with ingredients in between, I did the Bea's stuffed hash browns this time which includes hollandaise on top of the eggs. Oh my gosh I was so full but I had to keep going because it was so good I did not want to stop eating it. My husband went for the ultimate tuna melt which was large and came with the perfect thin cut fries. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff here are great and super attentive and we came towards the end of their day and got seated outside with our dog within 10 mins which was awesome.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I absolutely love this spot and will be dreaming of those stuffed hashbrowns until I can order them again!

Don's really knows what they're doing and the reviews don't exaggerate! Although parking is extremely tight - only a couple of spots or street parking, the food is worth it! The customer service is fast, workers are kind, very accommodating, and food comes out quickly! The portions are HUGE, the quality is AMAZING and for the price, it is such a steal! I enjoy coming here every time and the consistency is something I always look forward to. I highly recommend trying their biscuits (they make in house) and the Bea stuffed hashbrowns (what they're known for)!

Arrived on a Wednesday morning & maybe 10people, that's including the workers, but not long after, people started to come in. We are from outta town & just looked up on Yelp for a breakfast spot, found this gem with 2 others & we were definitely glad, we decided to go here, because not only the staff was super friendly, the food Did Not Disappoint We will for sure be back to this place, if we are ever in town, just to try more of the goodies on the menu. Parking doesn't seem like much, but there's places on the street or near by to park.

My first visit to this restaurant for brunch last weekend. We had a party of 6 so we had to wait 40 minutes to be seated on a Saturday morning for brunch. There is indoor and outdoor seating, we were seated inside. We had a great server (I didn't catch his name), but he was very attentive and professional. Inside was nice, nothing too special to me, just a standard restaurant. I don't like the small parking lot/limited parking situation. We had to park down the road and walk awhile to get to the restaurant, so heads up on the poor parking situation. The food was amazing! They have a huge menu with a lot of cool items, a hot White Russian?! I've never seen that before, it was so good though! I highly recommend it; if this is your thing. I really liked my son's big omelette, it had cheese, avocado and bacon and it was a huge portion. My hazelnut latte with oat milk was super good too. The portions here are consistent and very large, everyone I sat with had a huge plate of food and we all prefer different menu items. I highly recommend this place; if you haven't had the chance to visit yet, make the time it will be worth it.

This place is amazing. First I called to see how long the wait was for Saturday brunch, I spoke with Daniel over the phone. He was SO nice and helpful. While we were waiting for our table I enjoyed a nice cup of coffee, from the coffee station they have in the waiting area. I just absolutely loved that!! We received a text message when our table was ready. The service that we received from every employee we talked to was great. Our server Ricky was awesome. Had a wonderful experience here, I will definitely become a regular and highly recommend this place. Thank you Don's County Kitchen for setting a higher standard in my dining experience. read more

Good food and they got 7 of us seated without a wait on a Sunday morning (although there was a wait for others by the time we left). Big, big portions. I wish my wife and I would have shared. Plenty of locals eat here frequently. That'll and the long wait to get seated will tell you it's pretty good. There's free coffee outside while you wait, so that's a huge plus. Friendly staff, good food and reasonable prices make this one of the go-to place in Oceanside. Been here twice and will be back. Solid 4-Star breakfast joint. read more

Another breakfast must spot! This place was on my breakfast wish list for so long and I finally got to go, and it was worth the wait. The service was composed of some of the friendliest and aware staff I've ever had, never did I sit without a full drink or something I didn't need. They even send you a text of how long the wait is or when your table is ready, and your spot on the wait list! I have to get an omelette anywhere new I go, you can tell a lot about a place based on their Omelette, and the Spanish Omelette I got was amazing! Not overly stuffed where everything is falling out, real eggs, and nice and fluffy! My girlfriend got their signature stuffed hash brown, if the taste wasn't good enough the portion sure was, had to get a box! Overall this place was a great experience with decent prices, you might spend a dollar or two more here but let your taste buds make that decision for you! read more

What a cute place for homemade breakfast. All the food was flavorful and the portions are huge. Only had to wait 10m for our table and it seemed busy to me. Just picked up a breakfast sandwich to go. The woman who helped me was SO friendly and nice. The sandwich: sausage, scrambled egg and cheese with a side of hash browns. It was awesome! The sausage tasted fresh and had a nice flavor. Next time I think I'll order it with a fried egg instead of the scrambled. It's a small, little place with not a ton of seating. Parking lot is small too. Decor inside is cute, it's a nice place. read more

This was my first time to Dons. They have The friendliest staff I've encountered in a long time, and I'm a restaurant general manager myself... The machaca was one of the best breakfasts I've maybe ever eaten, and was prepared quicker than would seem possible! Marilyn was an absolutely top par server and overall very sweet woman, she really cared about our experience and genuinely loved the food she was serving. I've been in the industry for over 15 years and know the difference between someone simply going through the paces and someone who cares. Their treatment of my dog and welcoming attitude towards her and us was only the icing on the cake. My girlfriend and I agree this is one of our new favorite spots in Oceanside. I understand this review might seem grandiose or exaggerated, but it is not, I am simply this blown away and can't wait to come back! Thank you again Marilyn! read more

Wow really great food. Took my granddaughters there for the first time to help celebrate Cierra's 13th belated birthday and she had the best club sandwich ever! I got Bea's stuffed hashbrowns & loved it! Their biscuits & gravy are fantastic! If you check in on yelp, you get a free mimosa & I got the tropical flavor. It was great! I got a side of home fries. Obviously I got way too much food but it was all fantastic. You can call in ahead and put your name down on the list too! read more

Before owing Don's Country Kitchen in Oceanside, CA, Britten spent 12 years working at their sister restaurant, Don's Country Kitchen in Carlsbad, CA. To this day, Britten and her husband Daniel lead the team to provide the same delicious, high-quality food and great service that was started by Don himself over 40 years ago.

It seemed like there may have been some miscommunication between the kitchen and the waitstaff, which unfortunately led to a longer wait than necessary. While these things can happen during a busy brunch service, earlier communication would have made for a much better experience.

Otherwise it was perfect, they had some table salt that I was able to add. If they seasoned just a little it would have been perfect. But better no salt then salty. My friend's piccata was amazing. Probably the best chicken piccata that we've ever had! Plenty of chicken too. We ended with the butter cake and it was a good ending! So delicious. Cocktails were spot on. For the most part everything was really good and I would come back to try other items.

They're also incredibly dog-friendly, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, so I always know I'm going to be comfortable, happy, and well-fed. Parking is surprisingly easy too--even on busy PCH, I've always managed to find a spot either on the street or in their small lot. Green Cheek took over the previous space beautifully and has truly made it their own. I have no doubt this will be an Oceanside staple for many years to come. Five stars all the way!

Updating review :(...yikes! Burned bacon on the BLTA! Also, there was hardly any bacon on the sandwich this time. The Ruben tasted like a Ruben ... but the meat was like jerky! My family has been to this restaurant quite a few times and always have a great breakfast. So, it's finally time to add a great review. First, we drive all the way over from south Carlsbad because we really like the food and service. We always request Barbara because she is absolutely the best server here. Today, I ordered the ham steak and eggs. The ham is a really nice cut and the eggs were perfectly cooked. I like that you can include one of their fluffy pancakes too. My wife ordered the huevos rancheros with their home made sauce and raved. We also like their eggs Benedict and order it often. Great omelette too. It's a great place to sit on the front patio with your dog, which we do sometimes. Only tough thing is that the popularity makes them busy Sunday mornings. Good thing is that they have coffee that you can get self serve and enjoy a seat in the sun. Parking is tight up front but plenty on the street. read more

They really show the "team" thought process here as each employee checks in on you to make sure everything is fine! Yes, it can get really busy and you may have to wait a little bit for your food, but enjoy your first Mimosa for only $2 while you wait! BISQUITS AND GRAVY! Wholly cow! YUMMY! Don's was always my #1 go-to when I lived in the area, I miss it dearly. The location is perfect (coastal Oceanside, a block away from the best beaches around) and the staff are always very attentive and happy to see you. Every meal I've had at Don's tastes and feels home-cooked. But, what really kept me coming back was the incredible, caring service and attention Bea always gave when I was there. Even if there was a restaurant full (and then some) of people, she always made sure to take her time with me/us and make us feel at home (I have definitely made some complicated/picky orders, too!). The place was slammed, but the hostess was cheerful and efficient, promising it would be no more than 25 minutes. 20 minutes later my phone pinged that our table was ready. Awesome! Yummy! I've always wanted to go to this place and in the last five years I've lived here I've never tried it. Man I was missing out! The food is delicious, the service is great. When you walk in, you can grab your own menu, find an open table, and once you decide what you'd like, you place your order and receive a number. The fountain drinks, coffee, and tea are self-serve, which makes everything simple and convenient. Our visit was great! I ordered the chilaquiles, and they were delicious--flavorful but not spicy. My kids ordered chicken and fries, while my daughter got a hamburger, which she really enjoyed. Another thing I liked is that since you pay when you order, once you're finished eating, you can simply leave without having to wait for the check. I also want to give a special thank you to Tiffany, the manager. I accidentally forgot my wallet, and thankfully someone turned it in. Tiffany was extremely helpful and made sure I was able to get it back. I truly appreciate her and the staff at Stratford! Drinks are refillable and seating is readily available. Both indoor and outdoor spaces are accessible. Ordering is done at the counter, you'll be given a number to post at your table once you complete your transaction. Overall, the service is excellent. We only had one weird experience with a tall girly who had major attitude problems. I recently brought my parents for their anniversary and we had a pleasant time.

I would give this place another try however Beach Break Cafe down the street really blew me away the previous week, so hopefully my next visit here will be a bit of an improvement.
