My fiance and I are huge fans of Breakfast food. Our go to place is Black Bear Diner. There isn't one in Oceanside but we are always willing to drive 45 mins to Santa Ana to have a great breakfast. We have never found any restaurant in comparison to BBD. BUT THIS PLACE IS UP THERE! We've gone twice now and everytime the service has been outstanding, the wait time is a little long but totally worth it, and the food is cooked with love. or at least I think it is, because it's super good. The staff greeted us right away and we had a seat inside. nothing major to note on the decor but the place was clean and had plenty of space indoors and out. What i ordered: Pancakes of course with a side of 2 eggs and 3 pieces of bacon!!! They weren't just any pancakes they were banana!!! The Church bells ring now lol!!!! The portions were huge!! i went here sunday and i would like to say this place is very easy to pass by if you don't keep an eye out for it while driving. the place itself has very little parking, but i'm sure that you can find other parking spaces nearby. the wait for this place was around 25 minutes, but that was pretty short considering that it was full. once we got sat down and ordered, i noticed that it was cold while sitting outside and would HIGHLY CONSIDER wearing a jacket or two if you're planning to sit outside rather than inside. they do have heaters that you can sit next to but it's still cold nevertheless. i'm not sure about the policy inside the building itself but i think you can bring dogs onto the patio! children seats are also a given here. the food itself was delicious and i recommend trying the chorizo eggs benedict if you're a fan of food that is creamy, tangy and slightly sweet. i also tried the italian cream soda in the flavor strawberry and it was very creamy and good. i will say that you have to drink it quick though since it does have the ice in it and the ice dilutes the flavor once melted. otherwise, i think this place is very good!! would recommend trying if you're looking for some place new. servers were all so nice and came for help extremely quick. the portions given are humongous and you'll definitely need to take some things home!! the menu itself is quite big and includes tons of vegan options as well. read more

Never have I ever tasted food like this before, I was appalled. Appalled by the fact I never tasted something so DELICIOUS LIKE THAT BEFORE!!! I also got a side of French toast that was cooked to perfection and seasoned with powdered sugar wonderfully. Kids chicken tenders with fries and fruit. And a cinnamon roll. Everything tasted beyond my expectations. Only complaint I have is they did NOT INCLUDE THE SIDE FRUIT I ORDERED and PAID FOR MY DAUGHTER. Customer service is decent, the Feng shui of this restaurant was warm and welcoming. Had they not forgotten the fruit, my rating would be a 10/10, now I'd say it's about a 8/10. I've been having a really bad experience at a place I've been going to for years and so I was on the hunt for a new spot for breakfast. Found it!!!! All my issues were based around wait staff and costumer service. I'm not a corporate restaurant fan and believe that the old school mom and pop shops are the only way to go. Just seems that they are a dying breed. Ok so here's the review for Don's. All my concerns and fires with wait staff and service were instantly put out! I was greeted instantly and was told to pick my seat, that was nice and made feel like family cause I hate being put near the door on a cold or rainy day. Waitress was amazing I wish I could remember her name as she definitely needs recognition in this review. She kept my coffee and water full, told me what she likes to eat and what is good and never over talked. She was friendly while ordering but when my food came she let me eat and serviced my coffee and water when she saw it getting low. Now that's exactly what I want!!! I ordered the country fried steak and eggs but only because I told my waitress that I was stuck between pancakes and the steak. Glad I listened cause it was definitely the right choice for me today.... I was super hungry! The portions are exactly mind blowing!!! Honestly left feeling I owed them for what I paid for.
