    Donut Holes
    Justin C.

My new go to donut spot! Heard about this shop from a friend and they did not disappoint. They are located in the Lucky Seafood plaza next to TK Noodles. I needed several hundred donut holes morning of which is typically very difficult to obtain. I called early on a Sunday morning at 7 am and the owner picked up and said she would do her best to reserve as many as possible. I came through at 7:30 am for pickup and was thrilled to find that she was able to reserve 20 dozen donuts for me or 240 donuts morning of. I added a dozen sprinkled donuts. The owner gave me a free glazed donut. Donuts were delicious and rich. There were a couple of regulars in the shop in the early morning getting coffee and donuts. Service is unmatched - extremely friendly and efficient! I will definitely be back!

I absolutely love a family owned donut spot (I am obnoxiously proud that I have never been to Dunkin's) and Donut Stop knocked it out of the park! I dropped by after stopping at Bale next door, and they had a full selection of donuts given that it was fairly early in the morning. These Asian mom-and-pop shops all look fairly similar, dark and minimal with vinyl booths, refrigerated drinks to the side, and display counters to the front. Service was friendly and I appreciated that the woman at the counter asked if I wanted my donuts packed together or in separate bags. I heard good things about their blueberry donuts so of course had to get one. I also got a maple buttermilk bar, a cute little cream puff, and a maple bacon bar. I had the cream puff immediately and the texture was very light and flaky, contrasting perfectly with the silky sweet cream. It went down so easily and I can see why these sell by the dozen. The maple buttermilk bar was perfectly dense and sweet, with a hint of saltiness that really ties the whole thing together. The inside was so soft and each bite was heaven paired with some black tea. I had the maple bacon bar and blueberry donut the next day and they held up well. The blueberry donut was actually AMAZING, with real fruit and no artificial taste. It had the perfect light and airy cake donut texture, with a sugar glaze on top making it more toothsome. I am glad I only got one blueberry donut, as I could definitely see myself eating three in one go if given the opportunity. The maple bacon was the "plainest" of the bunch, not that it was not good. It was a predictable, comforting, sweet, salty, savory bite. There was plenty of bacon and the donut itself was fluffy. Overall, I think I found my favorite donut spot in Mira Mesa. Prices are reasonable and they have flavors and offerings that are different than other donut shops. I'll definitely stop by any time I'm satisfying my Vietnamese food craving in the area!

I absolutely love this place, not only are the donuts amazing, but it captures the essence of the American dream. Auntie gets in early, works hard, has a smile on her face and is doing it solo. Providing the community with still affordable donuts! Blueberry donuts are a must, love the maple bars personally. Bring cash as you know that helps the business the most even if they do accept card. The ambiance is mom and pop shop for sure, no frills, just coffee and pastries.

My favorite donut shop! The lady helping me was very nice. I got apple fritter, glazed blueberry, sticky bun, raspberry filled, and glazed old fashion. They are all delicious, fresh, and not oily! Love this place!

I've been living in Mira Mesa over 30 years and Donut Stop has been here longer! When I first moved out here I used to use the pay phones ... yes I said pay phones over by Big Lots to call my out of state family(always had calling cards on deck haha) anyway.. I would always stop at Donut Stop first and grab a donut and a can of Diet Coke. The customer service and donuts were exceptional then and still are!! Dunkin will be opening down the street in a few months but I encourage everybody to support the mom and pop places too!! The donuts are always fresh and don't forget your cash... and make sure you grab a blueberry one too!!

My favorite were the blueberry donuts omg i got two which I regret I should've gotten all 6 because I down that donut so quick it was so soft inside delicious super flavorful I'm not a fan of sweets but I'll fold for these bad boys

Closed earlier than what their sign says, it's a Thursday 2:30. Probably won't make the drive again if the hours are not accurate.

Ambiance was top-notch--the smell of donuts will hit you the moment you pull their door open. It was bright and inviting inside. Their aesthetic was a blend of modern minimalist, and I loved it. Service was quick and staff was very friendly. She was patient and cheerfully offered recommendations, which we beyond appreciated. She also offered some samples of some of their donuts and they were pretty much fresh off the oven. And speaking of donuts... oh, the donuts were HEAVENLY. They were all still warm when we got them in our box. Every single one we got was soft, pillowy and decadent with just the right amount of sweetness. Some of them were so unique that I never thought it'd work well being a donut, but it did! Flavors we tried: Passionfruit Pavlova Mango Sticky Rice Choc-a-lot Maple Bacon Butter & Salt Old Fashion Saigon Cinnamon Crumb The biggest surprise was the Mango Sticky Rice--very unique and tasty at the same time. It was a donut and a dessert in one. My favorite was the Maple Bacon--sweet & salty is always a winner for me, but it was the bacon that was crunchy and NOT old & chewy that really brought this one home for me. I already see us coming back here soon. Next time though, I'd love to try one of their coffee drinks too!

I got the old fashioned and it was perfectly sweet, not overly sweet at all. Paired really well with their cold brew, but it was a bit on the bitter side. The decor is so cute like stepping into a cartoon and the donuts are the main attraction. The chocolate bar came in around $2 and the other donuts we bought were up to $6. I was happy to see they still have the Homer, which is one of my favorites and the Vanilla Bean. Looks like they've added some new additions, namely cinnamon rolls. My daughter's favorite thing when she was younger was the strawberry milk on tap. I think it was the novelty of milk being on tap. It felt special for her as a kid. Now it looks like they've bottled it and put it in the refrigerated section near check out, for a quick and convenient beverage to go. There's a small section for Donut Bar merch with all sorts of things to choose from and some outdoor seating for enjoying your sweet treats on a glorious San Diego day. The donuts came in a simple white box with a black and white sticker. There's a surprise within that sticker! The sticker says to scan the QR code to bring the image to life...so we did! It's a super cute warm welcome from Chef Santiago! It looks like they've went towards an Augmented Reality theme. I didn't notice an upstairs at this location and the cashier said they no longer have the encore, which is something I used to love. It was when the Donut Bar reopened around 5pm at night on weekends, if I remember correctly. It was a blast. Overall, it's still our go to donut place when visiting San Diego. The employees are friendly and welcoming, and the donuts are sweet and yeasty. We love it!

Upon receiving it in a paper pocket bag, the icing was rubbing off on the bag. That immediately told me this is super fresh! I could already feel the softness of the donut. The little sectioned off ball looking segments of the donut are also a game changer when it comes to eating - easier to eat without making a mess!
