It's a tiny donut shop but most of the tables/chairs inside were filled with customers. There wasn't too much to select from. Not that much was sold out. It just seemed like a limited selection to me. Woman working was kind and efficient. I didn't know what to order so she suggested the blueberry donut. I also went with the chocolate round and a berry cream cheese croissant. I think the total was only $2.80. We thought the chocolate donut was standard and ok. The blueberry was a denser/cakey donut and small (but only .70c I think). The croissant was just alright but had a decent creamy filling. I'd come back to try other items if I was in the area. I love me some donuts and hadn't tried this place before so I gave it a shot. The shop itself is actually quite small, but the quality of the donuts was very good. They had kind of a classic taste and feel to them. I was slightly alarmed at first because despite it being around 10 AM, many of the donuts were gone. I was particularly interested in the "maple bacon", of which there were none left, but when I mentioned it to the lady working there she offered to make one fresh. My toddler loved this donut shop so much that he requested getting their donuts treats to share with his friends for his school birthday ... I called two days ahead of when I wanted to pick them up and they suggested stopping by 8pm so that they can give me a fresh batch. They were glazed and cooled on a wire rack and transferred straight into the box after I arrived at 8. When the owner heard it was for my little one's birthday, he was kind enough to let him pick out an extra donut as a treat... my 5yo couldn't have been more thrilled by such a sweet gesture. Went in on a Sunday morning at around 10! It's a cute little shop! It was very busy with some grandpas enjoying donuts together in the morning. I could tell it's a busy mom and pop shop as there weren't many donut options available! We got 6 donuts and 12 donut holes! -Cinnamon roll -Cinnamon twist -Blueberry buttermilk -Glazed buttermilk -Maple bar -Plain old fashioned (They included 3 feee donut holes) I tried the blueberry buttermilk and glazed buttermilk! They were pretty delicious! One thing I'm sad about is their glaze to donut ratio... I love glaze but they missed glazing like half of my donuts... only half of the donut holes were drizzled... Maybe I'll have better luck next time. I was also sad they squished the donuts by throwing them into a bag instead of a box, cause we definitely had enough donuts to use a box... Such delicious and cheap donuts! I stopped by here after getting Tim Ky Noodles (it's right next door) because I read such great reviews of this place and I see why. You can tell how this is a family business. I ordered a half dozen donuts with the infamous blueberry donut, sprinkle cake donuts, and a gummy bear donut. The lady working there also gave us two free donut holes which was super sweet. I don't usually like donuts but I liked all the donuts I tried from here. They weren't too sweet or too heavy. These are by far my favorite donuts because they have the perfect amount of sweetness. I have tried Sidecar donuts which are too expensive and VG Donut and Bakery which tastes alright, but Donut Stop has the most delicious donuts. This morning was my second time visiting this donut shop. First time was great, but this one not as good. I ordered the ham & cheese filled croissant. Points for freshness and the croissant portion was fantastic. The points go down though when I cut into it to share with a family member. There wasn't even a full ounce of ham and cheese combined! What a disappointment. Don't waste your money on this item. That said, their donuts are very good! During this pandemic I would like to add that the owner this morning was very quick to point out to a patron that he needed to maintain a 6foot distance from another patron. DOUGHNUT even worry about the calories because all you'll be thinking about are how tasty Donut Stop is. Donut Stop is by FAR my favorite doughnut place in San Diego. I've written some reviews for other shops in SD, but my opinion has changed ever since I found this place. The quality and freshness + service supersedes all other shops! I've never had a stale doughnut and they always have a wide variety stocked, no matter what time I go. The only bummer is that they aren't open 24/7 and do close at 10p. Also, as with most doughnut places, it's cash only $$! Their blueberry doughnuts are to die for. So fluffy and with a glaze that's not too sweet. They have the fusion of the fluffiness of a muffin and the moistness of a doughnut that combines to make this unbelievable blueberry creation. I can't find any other place with blueberry doughnuts and even though this place is 25 minutes away, it's totally worth the drive. They also have cheap and tasty buttermilk doughnuts that are also one of my top choices. Donut Stop also has the best prices in town. It's less than $8 for a mixed dozen and they always throw in an extra 1 or 2 doughnuts when you buy a dozen. The family that owns this shop is also really kind! It's been a very long time since I wrote my initial review, so it definitely deserves an update. It seems like the same family runs the place, with new generations taking over since I had started going there and it looks like now they take card. Definitely not neglected anymore, I came at 6AM once and there was a line to the door. The blueberry donuts are fantastic, especially if you catch them fresh! I also love the whipped cream filling in their donuts and cream puffs, which brings me to THE CREAM PUFFS. They're not the traditional french style ones, they're more similar to an unglazed yeast donut hole filled with delicately sweet whipped cream and it's amazing. I could definitely finish a dozen in a sitting without thinking twice. Decided to check this place out for some infamous blueberry donuts. I'm a sucker for donuts by the way.... Soon as I entered a sweet man greeted me at the door and took care of me as soon as I walked up to the front. I have heard numerous rave reviews about this little donut shop, and I was excited to try their blueberry cake donut, which they are apparently known for. The donut shop is located in a plaza next to Tim Ky, and there is usually ample parking. I came on a Thursday morning at around 11:30am, and to my luck and surprise, they only had one blueberry donut left ( I guess they sell out, so get them early). The cake donuts are only 70 cents, and they're a decent size for a small, sweet treat. You can really taste the blueberry aroma of the donut, and it somewhat tastes like a blueberry muffin with a light, sugar glaze. I really love this little place! I don't consume donuts too often, but when I do, this place is super solid. They carry some flavors other shops typically don't, and at very reasonable prices. I also love the very nostalgic interior. I remember coming here for the first time in elementary school and trying their amazing cream puffs. They're not dry and flaky like the pate a choux cream puffs you get frozen from costco, they're springy, somewhat crunchy, and filled with a cream that is in between cool whip and actual whipped cream. They're perfect and a great twist on the traditional cream puff. I came here randomly awhile ago because I was craving something sweet in the area and it definitely did not disappoint. After reading the reviews about the cream puffs I knew I had to try it. The price was very reasonable! You get about a dozen or two for just a few bucks. The cream puffs are not like your traditional ones where it has a more dense outer shell and a thicker cream in the middle. This cream puff was so light and airy! And the cream inside is more of a whipped consistency so it really doesn't feel heavy at all when eating it. I couldn't wait until the morning so I had a little bite as soon as I got into my car and it was amazing.
