I've passed Donut World every morning on the way to work since I moved to SF, but I'm not the type to buy donuts on my own, so I never gave it more than a passing glance. But, I went in today to buy a dozen donuts for our research group, and was pleasantly surprised by the variety and price! At $10.50 per dozen, they are quite affordable - and their donuts are all very fresh. The variety was so vast, I bought a dozen different types, and easily could have bought another dozen without repeating flavors. They sell cake, yeasted and old fashioned, so whatever camp you're in where fried hunks of sugared dough are concerned (I'm all for team yeasted), Donut World has you covered! Open 24 hours. easy walking distance from the bars. you figure it out. I recommend the ham and cheese croissants rather than donuts when you're drunk. Granted they're both bad for you, but at least there's a semlence of nutrition in the former. You'll probably feel better the next day. read more

Everyone should try their donuts at least once, and why not since the location is right next to the muni station and the price is so affordable? You could spend less than $3 and leave feeling very satisfied. The donuts are not overly sweet and are very fresh. I finished two of the 5' and one 3' in a flash. (I'm still feeling guilty about having eaten too much and blame it on the Donut World!) Definitely a place to bring friends from out of town to try their donuts as they taste much better than those at the chain stores. read more

Late night craving for something sweet this is one of my spots. They used to be 24 hours, but now they are open until 2am weekdays and weekends 24hrs....unless that has changed. Regardless, if I need a doughnut I go here. Their old fashioned glazed doughnut is my favorite. Also, they can fill any doughnut with custard right then and there. You will generally see me there at 1am or 6am to get my sweet tooth fix for the week. I have a love/hate relationship with Donut World. The employees are super nice and I LOVE their chocolate crullers. I pass by them on Muni daily and think about their delicious chocolate crullers melting in my mouth, but 9 out of 10 visits they're sold out. When they run out, I vow to never go back but I always do. I've even thought about bring binoculars on the Muni to see if I can spot my favorite donut to see if it's worth getting off the bus. Why oh why don't you ever make enough chocolate crullers to last through the evening Donut World?! 5 stars for their delicious chocolate crullers, 1 star for never having them. read more

It's a standard donut shop. There aren't any special items. It is however open 24 hours and there is likely something somewhat fresh. I also I believe it's the only standard donut shop in the area. I've stopped here several times for either a French cruller or glazed donut. The owners have been extremely nice at any time of the day. Nothing wrong here, but nothing special either. read more

Decent, classic 24 hr donut place- the only one (I think) in the 'hood. They always have my faves in stock and the cashiers are always friendly. It's not ~hip or ~cute inside, but it's your standard old school shop. They sell milk and other cold drinks. Their coffee is pretty bad though. Cheap donuts that are always fresh and delicious! Very standard flavors so don't expect anything fancy. Also, I'd knock half a start off for ambiance because this a place you want to drop in and get out of. Basically, just go there to pick up a donut or some donut holes and you'll leave a happy camper. read more

no-frills happy place of fried carbs that opens 24 hours. mmm. apple fritters the size of my face. they're quite substantial in weight too, you will not be disappointed when you bite into them. none of that airy, too many air pockets nonsense. this is pretty dense stuff. crispy and sweet exterior, nicely, thickly glazed. chewy in a firm, pillowy way. little squares of apples in between bites. i would recommend sharing this with another person, because even then you'd still feel full but without hating yourself. good stuff, get this. i have not been disappointed with their donuts, they're in pretty traditional/basic flavors, but that's what i personally prefer anyway. never thought i'd enjoy an old-fashioned donut until i had one here. it wasn't too dense, but not light either. the texture was just nice. the other donuts were yummy too, airy and light but without leaving you with a shortchanged feeling, like you paid for the excessive air folded into the dough instead of the ingredients themselves. can't remember the names of the other items that i've chosen randomly from behind the glass, but i have not been disappointed thus far. the buttermilk something something (unfilled) was quite good. basic, but the flavor comes through well. my friends love the filled custard confection with the maple-glazed top. i'm just waiting for the day i choose to jog 15 miles and then get this bad boy. the items are cheap, the taste is great. awesome for the occasional indulgence. cash only! read more

Delicious! My boyfriend and I were up late and craving something sugary. I stumbled upon Donut World on Yelp and since it's open 24 hours, we decided to run over and get some donuts. Best decision ever! The cake donuts are only .90 cents! Cheaper than a can of soda ($1). As soon as I took a bite, I was in heaven. Very delicious. Definitely going to be coming here much more often. :) read more

What better way to celebrate Nurse's Week by going to the nearest donut shop and getting a dozen donuts to show how much our nurses (and our allied health team members) are appreciated! I came over to this gem of a shop after working a hard 12 hour night shift. Donut world has that old fashioned goodness that cannot be duplicated by chain stores. Came here for a dozen old fashioned donuts and a warm ham and cheese croissant. You can't find good affordable donuts like donut world. Go to another bakery and they'll charge double of what donut world has to offer AAAAAANNNNNDDD they aren't as good. read more

Donut world is great! My favorite are definitely the raised donuts - so soft and fluffy all the time, they're addicting. I'm glad this place has been around so long; it's nice to have somewhere in the area that's open at all times where you can hang out and get a snack. read more

We had coffees here every morning during our stay in San Francisco. We also got their cream filled doghnut, custard-filled eclair, cheese danish and a round pastry filled with custard (our favorite). 24 hour donuts? Love it. Before a 4 am snow trip, we stopped by here for some morning snacks...not only do they have a great selection of donuts/fritters/baked goods, they have Raspberry Peach Snapple to boot! (the BEST flavor of Snapple, imo). They've also got some single-serving size milk cartons also, which goes great with the donuts. I love the glazed twists and I tried the cinnamon roll/bun today. I seriously can always count on this place. I'm such a donut girl, I always crave a sweet treat around bedtime. Their chocolate donut is so chocolaty, the dough is just right. I freaking love this place. The only donut shop in San Francisco (that I know of) that consistently has french crullers allllll the time. Soft, moist, not overly sweet. A little greasy, but how would it be a donut if it wasn't. They have it in regular sugar glaze, chocolate, maple, and vanilla. My go-to place for french crullers. read more
