I try to give all donut shops five stars because they are the hardest working people! Do you remember that old Dunkin' Donuts commercial where Sam wakes up at 4:00 am to go make donuts? Well, it's totally true! And the fact that they still greet me here with smiles on their faces by 10 AM is a win in my book! The simple, glazed donuts are our fave and the prices are very reasonable. It's a great snack to have before a hot day on the ranch. There is always plenty of parking and we have never had to wait more than 2 minutes for our donuts. Service is fast and efficient. My company orders donuts for us hungry worker bees every Friday...have been for years and years. They never fail to be fresh and delish and are the perfect compliment to your morning cup of joe or coffee. However, I am writing this review because I am OBSSESSED with their Jalapeno Ham and Cheese croissants. I'm almost afraid to write this review because they always sell out again before I know it and I want them all to myself. If I don't get there at the right time, then I'm screwed, blued and tattooed. And stuck with my boring chia seed pudding that I bring with me as a backup plan for breakfast. You catch my drift. I used to drive all the way to K Sandwiches for my jalapeno cheese fix but not no more! And additional 5 stars for convenience. They are situated next to Sprouts in Poway and it's so funny that I never noticed them before until my co-worker mentioned that was the place we get our donuts from every week. Very easy to miss. The guys that work there are always very nice and he says to me "how many?" because he knows I'm always their to raid his stash, lol. Super delish! I was there at noon today and the first thing I noticed was how dark it was. I thought that they were closed, there was very little lighting on in the store and I didn't see any people. The only way I knew was when I opened the door and a voice came from the back saying hello. Being in a cramped, dingy and dark store should have been my clue to walk out, but I figured to just go with it, how bad could the donuts be? I got my answer very quickly. I ordered one Boston Cream and one Chocolate Old Fashioned. There was almost no cream in the first one I ate. The Old Fashioned was hard and flavorless. Even the chocolate on both of them had almost no chocolate taste. So, next time I am in Poway looking for donuts, I will either find somewhere else or just pass and save the calories. Great place with just the perfect donut to satisfy my junk food sweet tooth. This one is large, covered with chocolate and sprinkled with chocolate chips. But wait for it...chocolate chips in the middle too! Yummy! Too big for one person so I took it home and shared it with my better half. Much fresher and better than the donuts from the chain stores. Service was quick. Selection was large. Store was clean with a fish tank with beautiful large fish. Price was reasonable at $1.75 for something large enough for 2 people to share. They still had a lot to choose from that day, though. The donut that I purchased tasted ordinary. I bought a Chocolate Buttermilk Bar. I was ready to purchase more, if the service had been good. Unfortunately, the service was not. The employee was on his phone the whole time. No greeting or anything. Probably turned out to be a good thing so I saved money and calories.
