The chips were light and crisp just the way I like them. The salsa, however, needed some work. It tasted like straight tomato sauce. I ordered chicken tacos. The hard shells were fresh and the chicken meat was not dry at all. They could have used a bit more flavor. The charro beans and rice were ok. I've had better. The regular frozen margarita was a bit on the tart side. There was more lime flavor than anything else. The taco plate was about $12. They need vegetarian options. We went based on a recommendation from Embassy Suites. Despite what looked like small crowds, we were directed to bar seating as the only available option. The cocktails are awesome. I-10 traffic jam was perfect. Garish with grapefruit to complement the flavors instead of like, and it would be genius. The chips and salsa are some of the best we have ever had. In terms of entrees, I ordered the cast iron catfish. It was not served in cast iron and did not have a hard sear. It was also missing the red beans from the menu. The shrimp etoufee was fine. The server did not check on us once. We had to beg for our check then wait 10+ minutes for it to be processed. While there are tacos and enchilladas on the menu, the bulk of the menu is Cajun inspired or Tex-Mex fare, leaning towards moderately upscale interpretations of both. There is a downstairs and an upstairs dining room. Nice city views from upstairs, super-friendly and helpful waitstaff, and though we didn't imbibe what look to be fair happy hour prices with decent variety. I was ordering one thing when our waiter "corrected" me to something else. I asked if they were out of the item I was ordering and he said "no, but this one's better". This is not always a great approach but he did it so low-key and approachably that I went with it and trusted his judgement. Glad I did--the Chicken Zydeco was really tasty (I think my wife liked it even more than me as she had a few bites). My wife opted for the cajun catfish and it was really good as well (i had a few bites myself). The chips and salsa (complimentary) which start the meal here are a step up as well--hot, crispy, fresh with just the right amount of salt and a salsa that looks basic but packs a lot of flavor and will appeal to those who love or loath cilantro (none present but it's not missed). read more

I ordered tacos and jambalaya. The tacos were tacos. There was absolutely nothing special about them. But the jambalaya came out hot and flavorful. This restaurant popped up on Yelp. It was close to the conference center I was at and I had a taste for Mexican food. Didn't realize until getting there it was Tex-Mex-Cajun, which sounded interesting. Service was good, the chips were very good and they came with a smoothly blended tomato salsa that was excellent. Ordered the blackened chicken which was a nice plate. The chicken was butterflied and cooked well, with good spice and peppery. The heavy blackened seasoning was a bit much, a little more than I was expecting. The red beans and rice were good as was the small side of the shrilled veggies. Had a great family meal here after the World of Coca Cola. We had a big party so ordered 4 orders of tacos, hard and soft, and 2 orders of fajitas, beef and shrimp. Everything was quite tasty, and you get unlimited chips and salsa which was great for the kids to get filled up. We added guacamole which was fresh and delicious. The food is more Americanized Mexican food, but it was still very good, but the thing that stood out was the service. Although we were pretty much the only people dining (it was late afternoon) our server was attentive, quick, and very on point. The sprite taster weird so she took it off our bill. Walked in and waited at the door for 5 minutes before even being approached by a worker. He told us we could go upstairs if we wanted (we didn't know there was an upstairs). So we went up and got seated. The ambiance is very nice and decorated. Our server didn't come up until way later but he said there was a miscommunication between servers so no big deal. He was very kind and made us feel welcome, but food and drinks did take a long time to come out, despite the restaurant being really empty at the time we were there. And we plowed through our chips (which were a tad over salted) given we were hungry and he never checked on us for a refill until our food was out. Salsa was great though! We ordered and split the chicken fajitas, and a chili con queso appetizer, which came with a plate of rice, beans, sour cream, lettuce, cheese, and pico. Starting with the positives: that fajita chicken is some of the best I've ever had. Juicy and flavorful- it's a cut up breast. The onions were nice and seasoned/caramelized. Queso was good. However, the tortillas were a bit hard. The beans were way too seasoned. I don't know how to describe it but it was just too much spice and not even in a hot/spicy way just overwhelming mix of flavors. The rice was also very salty. If you came here thinking it was going to taste like your local authentic Mexican, it's not. There's so many flavors, which is a good thing, until they go overboard and add too much of it or over-salt. I'm not completely dissatisfied with our visit. It was our anniversary so I did have high expectations for the night, but I wouldn't come back or recommend it to a friend, given the price point ($27 for fajitas and $8 for that small bowl of queso) read more

Dos Bocas, a mixture of New Orleans Creole and Tex-Mex style food, has an incredibly interesting menu. You can order anything from Fajitas to a Shrimp Po Boy, and pair it with Red Beans & Rice or Charro Beans & Mexican Rice. This isn't a menu you would find anywhere else. The prices are pretty reasonable for Atlanta dining and they're only open for dinner hours. We had a party of 10 and they did their best to accommodate us. It took a while to get all of us situated with drinks, but we did have some delectable chips and salsa to keep us occupied. Everything was very staggered in our service, but that's because there was really one man running the show. One man, the owner I believe, bar tending, taking orders, running food, and perhaps even cleaning tables. There seemed to be one other server on the far side of the restaurant, and two in the kitchen. Covid has been hard on us all, but Dos Bocas is doing it's best to thrive in such a difficult time. The staff are amazing, but few and far between. If you come here, be ready for some tasty food, but you'll have to wait a while for it. Where to begin...ok first lets discuss the service here. Jolee, I believe was her name, was AMAZING! She was so friendly, upbeat and positive. Her bubbliness just exuded from her like sunshine! She was sweet and so helpful. So was fairly new to the area, so when we had questions about things here, she made sure to get us accurate answers, not just tell us something to be saying something. For being new to Atlanta, she had that down home southern hospitality down pat. Incredible server and made excellent recommendations. Which leads me to the food....I was a bit skeptical when reading that it was a Tex-Mex/Cajun flair type of place. I wasn't quite sure how I felt about combining the two...however, I was pleasantly surprised. We decided to try two very unique entrees so we could each try them. We had the Cast Iron Skillet Blackened Chicken with the red beans and rice and the veggies....and let me just say...absolute perfection! The chicken was sooo tender, and juicy and flavorful and cooked with love. I am VERY VERY picky about chicken and this one had me hooked. The veggies were outstanding and of course the red beans and rice were amazing as well. The second entree we ordered were the house enchiladas with the red house gravy- we chose to have the cheese enchiladas. Oh my! The house sauce/gravy that they put on their red enchiladas is bursting with flavor, not too spicy with just a nice kick. We also ordered the guacamole which was very good as well. The chips and salsa came complimentary with the meal- they were wonderful also. I know we are in Georgia, but the sweet tea here is other level- just the right amount of sweetness with a fresh taste. Loved it! The place itself had a nice atmosphere and setting and was not a crowded space, so you didn't feel like you were sitting on top of the other guests. It wasn't extraordinary by any means, but it was nice. If you are ever in Downtown ATL- head on over to Dos Bocas and ask for Jolee, she was the icing on the cake here. I am very unhappy to see how much they care in given fresh food when it looks like it was sitting underneath the heat lamp for a while I did not even dare to try it so I send it back placing me in the most uncomfortable moment of Claude ring to even order anything else from here. To make it worse, the food is outrageously expensive. Most dinner options are over $20, despite them very being simple dishes like enchiladas and burritos. The service is nothing to ride home about and the floors are quite filthy. With there being so many locations to eat in atlanta with much greater food, I do not recommend this location to any one. Mainly a tourist restaurant. Food was overpriced and not good. Silverware was dirty. Service was slow. Frozen margaritas OK Service was extremely slow and then they delivered wrong item. Never had worse chicken fajitas. Small portion but not real fajitas. No sizzling plate on table. Looked like they just put some chicken on a grill pan over onions and peppers. We've paid less and gotten larger portions and better quality almost any where else. Sadly if you work downtown and want to walk somewhere with coworkers, you're stuck with these types of places. My mom and I were starving after Coca Cola world so we stopped in here on our way back our hotel, and right when we walked in I could just tell that it was gonna be good by the atmosphere. We were immediately sat and given free chips and salsa which was soooo good, the chips were warm which I thought was a very nice touch. I got the picadillo beef tacos and they were amazing! The beef was super flavorful and juicy. I also got the Mexican corn and I literally could not stop eating it because it was THAT good. The reason i'm making this a five-star review though is because of the wonderful service we had. Our server, Diamond, was super nice and very prompt. It's a shame I have to put 1 star. The service was great, the food was great... being a Hilton Diamond and Owner , I have eaten at many restaurants attached to the hotels and on premises. Why am I giving this place one star- the horrible MANAGEMENT.. I can tell you the snide, eye rolling manager treats his employees terribly needs to remove himself from the service industry. Very snotty when I asked a question. Just to jolt his memory when he reads this, there was a homeless man outside that was disabled I asked if there was a place to call for these types of things (311? Shelter, police etc) I'm from out of town. He rolled his eyes and told me to go to the front desk of the hotel. Ahhh I'm eating there why would I do that? He said we don't handle that (ok no one asked you, who does handle that's what I asked?) the guy needs help... he told me to go and get a security guard. I refused as a patron eating there he should assist with anything with safety outside the front door, peoples concerns inside, and over concerns for the community between a nasty belligerent homeless person and a person in need. I asked the homeless man if I could buy him a meal and my husband called shelters for him to get to. Once the security guard came we were able to assist the man. However I went back to the meal upset that this manager actually works with people he was really rude to me. I heard some talk and complaints and left upset and never came back. read more
