The hubby & I were trying to decide where to go for dinner...Well what better place than Dos Coyotes. For my husband, it's like reliving his college days at a Davis. Well for me it's the mahi-mahi tacos. We should have left a bit earlier to beat the rush, but that's ok because we loaded up on chips and salsa and enjoyed a night without our girl and her entourage of what we call are other children. We had dinner here for the first time. My husband ordered the seafood paella burrito which he would rate as 4 stars. I had the fish taco, which I found very bland and little fish. I often ordered fish tacos when a restaurant has this in the menu. This fish taco must be one of the worse ones I have had. I would rate my fish taco as 1 star. We were in Alamo at California Bike and Snowboard and was heading back to Brentwood, it was about 6 p.m. and traffic was heavy so we thought that we would make it a date night and was originally going to go to a different resturant, but according the GPS the one we were thinking about was closed (casualty of COVID I am sure) and suggested Dos Coyotes. What is date night, if not a bit of an adventure. This was our first time there and so we really didn't know what to expect but didn't have any regrets. My wife doesn't care for spicy food and was told that the Ranchero Cheese Enchiladas were mild, she thought the sauce was to much like Campbell's tomato soup. I had the Green Chili Chicken Enchiladas and added some of thier salsa and was pleased with the flavor and there was definitely some heat to the salsa! Being from Brentwood, I am not sure how often we will be in San Ramon for dinner, but over all it was a good experience. Dinner for two with soda to drink came to just over $30. I have eaten here numerous times with mixed experiences poor to average and thought I would never eat here again, but this time it was great. It was pretty quiet, I thought they were closed when I dropped by on this Sunday late evening before back to school week. Thanks to the unknown chef, my Bobby Tacos Southwest Plate was the best I have had. They were golden brown and not burnt like I usually get it. The nachos were created with blue tortilla chips and drizzled with a sweet chili sauce not too much to make the chips soggy, also comes with black or refried beans. There was plenty of steak on this order and after they come out of the broiler to melt the cheese, it's garnished with sour cream and guacamole. I loved this place and am very disappointed to give a low review. Today we ordered dos coyotes via door dash and I ordered the cheese enchiladas. I am still in pain an hour after eating what I thought was a bell pepper. It turns out it was a habanero pepper. This is seriously dangerous. What if the enchilada was for a kid? I can handle and enjoy some spice. I'll pile marinated jalapeños on my Mexican food but this is a different level of spice. I spent 20 minutes drinking small sips of milk (which I normally don't drink) to try and ease my pain. I still feel like my stomach is on fire. I called the restaurant to let them know what happened. I spoke to the manager and she said it was from the onions on the enchilada and said they will try not to put those on people's food. I just don't think that's good enough so we likely won't be heading back. I'm so bummed!! If habaneros were in this shouldn't it say so on the menu? This item doesn't even say spicy. It say "citrus marinated onions". still in pain!!! read more

I've seen the Facebook ads here and there about this place, heck I've even seen some of my Facebook friends/acquaintances posting charity causes that they run through them or eating there in general. So finally a friend posted a charity cause for her kid's school and I actually had a chance to stop by and try this place out. My mom wasn't familiar with the menu so it took her a few minutes to figure out what she wanted since there was so much to chose from. I chose paella burrito and god it was good! My mom ordered the fish tacos and enjoyed those too! I love their salsa bar and sort of wish they offered more chips so that o could try more of their salsas. All in all, the prices were ok not the greatest when compared to local taquerias with proportions you get but still the food itself is very solid to eat or try! Make sure to watch out for the specials, as they're always delicious! Be careful on a Friday night... the line goes out the door - although it moves fast so don't leave! lol When they first opened the service was a little slow but c'mon.. it's a new place and they're just getting into the motions. That is no longer an issue. I see complaints about the chips and their lack of generosity.. I always ask for a bucket of chips while waiting for my food and have NEVER been given anything but chips and a smile. Green Chili Stew: the only down side is when you're done. I used to go to the original shop in Davis when I was in college there and when I moved to San Ramon 4 years ago I was stoked to find they had opened one here. I went to this restaurant today. I ordered my food and then asked them to add a can of Arizona iced tea to my order. I grabbed the iced tea from the self service display at the counter. The clerk added $298 to my charges. I showed her how the beverage was clearly pre-priced at .99 cents. She called out to the manager, "Mike." When Mike came to the register he explained that the can of iced tea cost the restaurant over $2, so they Mark it up further to make their profit. I have personal knowledge that the cans are wholesaled through Pepsi for approx .71 cents, and that you can go to most convenience stores and buy the prepriced tea for .99cents. I changed my order to water, just because I knew the guy was lying. I suggest to the restaurant that they sell another brand of tea that is not pre-priced. Odd, unfamiliar flavored Margaritas, which would be fine if there were also some familiar flavors. I want strawberry, not "prickly pear" flavored. The servers brought the meal to our table and then informed us that we had to walk ourselves wayyyy to the back to pick up our own forks. Did I mention that we were at a designated "disabled" table?
