I think this restaurant is very good and very well managed. We had dinner here a few weeks ago and again during yelp's carry out food event we ordered it to go. Amazing that the quality and taste was exactly like it was in the restaurant. Almost the same experience minus a margarita and table service. We were so impressed. Order was exact and the food was still warm once we made it home. I like the fajita tacos and the chips with salsa is a good starter. They have some combination plates that I will likely try next visit. GF and DF not a problem here, just make sure they know when you order. This place is a must see for anyone visiting Fort Worth, TX. Its located in the Fort Worth Historic Stockyards. It looks like a hole in the wall and they need to fix their parking lot, so parking can be a task. It's a pretty good Tex-Méx restaurant. My employer always gets events catered from this restaurant. You get chips and salsa when you are seated. My husband's favorite are the chilaquiles, which are cut up tortillas with a tomato sauce and cheese on top with a side of refried beans. I like to just get the scrambled eggs with potatoes and cactus. We recommend the flour tortillas. Yum. This is a small and very popular restaurant. So, if you are going in for breakfast, go EARLY! If not, you'll have a wait. But I think it's worth it. Also, bring tip money because this place also gets filled with mariachi bands on the weekends. I like to support them because most of them are high school kids trying raise money for new mariachi uniforms, trips or even trying to make s buck. You can also hire these bands for your own events. Walked in and was confused as to whether we would sit ourselves. There were several other people confused as well and had to ask the staff. There were some high school students i believe playing in a mariachi band trying to raise donation to go to state competition or something like that. Normally I enjoy seeing and hearing live mariachi bands in Mexican restaurants, but since this place was so small, it became awfully loud and echoey while they played. My group of 7 ppl were all yelling at each other trying to hear one another. After 10-15 mins, they left and went to another area. Thank goodness. This small place just isn't meant for an entire band. The food: I thought it was okay. The flour tortilla were thick and fresh. I love them fresh but slightly thinner. I ordered the mole chicken. I asked to the leg quarter and extra mole sauce for my double rice. The waitress looked at me but did not write it down. I don't think she understood me. So when the meal came out, it was shredded chicken and no extra sauce. The shredded chicken it look like all white meat, but it was so dry!! The mole sauce was lacking in flavor. It didn't have that hint of sweetness or slight spice. It was kind of bland. My friend who makes mole confirmed it was just okay. Some of the table seemed to enjoy their dishes. I picked up Saturday morning breakfast burritos for the sales team at work. No complaints from them, chorizo n eggs, bacon n eggs, tortillas were good, salsa was weak but good. I called in the order and it was ready when I arrived, that is a big plus for me! Can't wait to go back, dine in experience is next. February 7th, came in for breakfast, they a Mexican breakfast entre , I ordered two eggs over easy, with the Chile Colorado, beans, potatoes and flour tortillas. Just understand here they will probably be flat. I think it's because they either open them beforehand to save time or they are refilling them themselves. I would order them unopened if I were you. They charge you enough for them so they shouldn't balk at that request. The wait staff is hit or miss. Mostly because it's new people all the time. Weird for a small family restaurant. I'm not going to give you a review of their lunch or dinner menu because ew just ew. Much better places for that much better places. Now I know what you're thinking, if you hate the joint so bad why even give two stars? Well the basic breakfast can still be pretty good and the tortillas are still pretty good and I do like their chips and hot sauce (wonder where they get them?) So just keep that in mind! Parking is limited, and it got busy about 10am on Sunday, so go by 9-9:30 to beat the crowd. The salsa is fresh and delicious. The chilaquiles with chorizo were cheesy and good. I feel like my nickname should be 'breaker of perfect records'. I should have known it was too much to hope for that we'd find two great Mexican restaurants in one weekend. Or maybe I should have learned to be wary of Mexican restaurants that have a number in their name. Either way, Dos Molinas did not even come close to living up to its Yelp accolades. Here's the report card: Chips & Salsa: bad Queso: so horrible they actually call it "cheese sauce" and not queso. Rice: bland Beans: decent Fajita meat: bland. Nearly indistinguishable from the carne asada except for presence of green peppers. Tortillas: better than average Service: ok - the waiter couldn't answer the difference between the 'beef' fajitas and the 'steak' fajitas and did not volunteer to find out. He also misheard my honey's order of carne guisada as carne asada (hence why we know it is essentially the same as the fajitas). Prices were reasonable. I could see them having a good breakfast, given that a Mexican breakfast consists of beans, eggs, and tortillas. But I was not at all happy with the lunch fare so we will likely never bother to trek back here for breakfast. They get a half star for having mexican cokes and for breakfast potential so I'd put them at 2.5 stars. read more
