I met a large group of people here this past weekend for a birthday. It was my friends 44th birthday and this is a great place to have a birthday dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere and ambience is amazing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our service was top-notch considering we had over 20 people at our table and basically had one server take care of all of us. She did have some help bringing out the food, but otherwise she ruled the night. I had Carne Asada with beans. I was allowed to substitute the rice for two eggs cooked over medium. This was spectacular and the meal was very satisfying. This was my third time at this restaurant and I definitely look forward to coming back here again.

Chicken fajitas are fine, nothing special. This is a fine meal for the price, but nothing will wow you. A fort worth classic, so its probably worth going once! I do like the fresh chips and salsa, especially the individual salsa bowls! Probably the 3.4 star average this place receives is fair.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is decorated so lovely for the holiday season![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As always The Original is a great choice for lunch or dinner. There is parking in the lot behind the building and street parking. The salsa is fantastic and they sell it by the jar. The corn chips and corn tortillas are the bomb! Our waitress was very nice and helpful. We did not feel rushed and our drinks were always refilled on time.

Incredible food and really great service! We went there late to have dinner with our family; pretty large party and they accommodated us perfectly. We used to go there plenty of times when it was formerly El Rancho Grande. The chips here are SO good idk what they do to their tortillas but I love them and am still mad I didn't order a bag to go. My only cons are that it was a bit pricey (we spent over $200 for a family of 5) and [[HIGHLIGHT]]my daughter has a medical stroller; where we were seated did not have any ramps to get where our table was.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Just for the prices alone, we prob won't be back with our family again for a while-- but it's definitely worth a date night splurge to eat there!

Closed at 8:05 hours posted till 9pm.

Well don't try to take a group to the Original at 8pm, you will find they are already closed even though the hours posted say till 9pm. Manager did come to door and say basically we closed you are not worth us staying open past 8pm...I asked her don't you need all the business you can get. Yep, but not today. Got it, just took the Original off my list forever. From the looks of it they are killing themselves.

Fort Worth's Oldest restaurant. A historic restaurant serving delicious TexMex food in the heart of old downtown Fort Worth since 1926. The Roosevelt Special- We had meals fit for a president: "a world famous" cheese enchilada with chili, 1 beef taco and 1 bean chalupa. It is a big beautiful plate of food. Check the pictures. It is listed on the menu as "The Roosevelt Special." This is the restaurant's signature dish that was created in honor of Franklin D Roosevelt who visited the restaurant in 1936. Tasty spicy flavorful food. The chips, and salsa are exceptionally good too. Thin crispy chips fresh salsa and salsa picante with bite. A beautifully decorated interior that mixes Mexican, and a little TexMex décor with the building's historical ambiance. Very comfortable, with a warn relaxing feel. Excellent attentive service. An while you are there explore downtown Fort Worth. The Roosevelt Special is recommended on your first visit.

    Burrito and one puffy taco

I've been wanting to visit The Original Del Norte for some time, and today, it finally came to fruition. I knew a restaurant that was nearly a hundred years old would be good, and it was good. The puffy tacos were excellent, as were the beans (my favorite thing on my plate, actually). The service was super friendly and attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant space was very nice, with lots of traditional Mexican decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They had a separate bar area, as well as more dining space upstairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also have Happy Hour, early dining, and weekday specials. I will go back

Disappointed for a couple of different reasons. - we wanted to sit outside on the patio and they sat us in a table that was filthy. Chips and rice everywhere on the ground under our feet when there were plenty of other table options near that were clean. Also major delays for getting our drinks and chip refills when it felt like we were the only people out there. - the food just sucked. It felt like everything that came to our table was cold and completely rid of seasoning. We ordered the blackened tilapia tacos and that was the best thing we had all night. The chicken enchiladas were a joke. We asked for the sour cream on the side and they decided to just bring out the chicken wrapped in the tortilla and that's it. Not really sure how they thought that would go... beans were cold and rice was meh. No cheese no vegetables nothing else. - I ordered a margarita with a double pour of tequila. Our server came back and said she was instructed by her manager that she can't do doubles and they would have to charge me for another drink and put the tequila in a shot glass instead of having the bartender mix it in. Never in my life have I had someone refuse to make a double. I was curious why this place was so dead on a Friday night but now it makes perfect sense. It's just not a good restaurant. Save your $$ and go eat somewhere else.

You can literally throw a rock down main street and hit a Mexican food place. So,away we went to the " hole in the wall" Los Asaderos. The fact that they charge for chips and salsa helped me round down my 3.8 to 3. Sorry guys but that's nit picky and non traditional. Greedy? Maybe. So since mom passed away, everything is pretty poor here! I mean food is still pretty tasty but the service, the expectations, the food presentations. They need a lot of work! The son of the owner is FREAKING LAZY!!!!!! Dad was working the kitchen today and he's in the front of the house being LAZY AS ALWAYS! If he's your server RUN AWAY and come back later or ask for better server. He's entitled. He NEVER EVER comes back to check on you. He avoids eye contact. He'll take your order and then sit down to play on his phone or watch TV. Then take food from the window throw it in your table and never come back. Sit back down to be on his phone. There are 2 servers that are very very good, tall white guy and one lady but the rest are TRASH!!! So if you are looking for great food but can overlook the service this is the place but sometimes even the tasty food can't overcompensate the service. We might not comeback for a bit. Oh and we also saw the son today took our server tip from our table and put it in his pocket! And he didn't clean our table at all. He just pass our table, pocket the $7 and left. And he did not even wait on us at all today! I hope that girl got her tip back! So that was the turning point for us for a while. Watch out for him when you leave cash tip for your server.

While waiting for our appetizer, we enjoyed the chips and salsa. I especially LOVE Chuy's Cilantro Jalapeño dip. It's addictive and so delicious. When Soni brought the Sampler plate to our table our eyes got as big as dinner plates. The platter was huge and there was enough to share with 4 people not just 2 who weren't too hungry. If we'd been going home, we could have taken a to-go box, but we had another engagement. The platter had quesadillas, flautas, nachos, guacamole, queso, pico and jalapeños, 4 of each. Oh my. We had a delightful time enjoying the deliciousness and doing quite a bit of people watching, that's always so much fun. Soni took wonderful care of us throughout our visit, she was very attentive.
