Went a few weeks ago to get a margarita and take out. Sat at the bar, it was nasty! And it stunk like sewage. We told the bar tender and he said other customers were saying same thing but he didn't smell anything. I couldn't even finish my drink at the bar I took it outside and didn't order takeout. Went back last night sat at bar ordered a margarita and it still stunk but not as bad as a few weeks ago. I noticed they put incense throughout the bar and scented candles. Ordered take out got it home and it was a disappointment half our nachos were missing beans and fajita meat. Something needs to be done about the smell. Perhaps a deep cleaning and the plumbing fixed since it smells like sewage. read more

Ordered food to go and was told it would be 15 minutes. 30 minutes later, I still didn't have my food. I stood there looking at my food while other food from the back was bagged. The lady was obviously overwhelmed and behind but there was no one who stepped in to help her or communicate with all the people waiting for their orders. Told us we accidentally paged you and they gave us the pager back. We see everyone going ahead of is. We go check and we got told they put us at the bottom of the list. Great food and great service. I have to place a lower rating due to the parking situation. I looped around 4 times, and finally settled on the lauder mat across the street. Dos Salsas, I think you know where this is going.. I now have to pay $250 to get my car back. The parking lot is empty there, but ASAP towing patrols that location specifically preying on your customers! Please at least invest in a sign for your patreons. Worst food. Came for breakfast with my son, bacon is microwaved, eggs looked and tasted like they have been sitting, biscuit was cold. My son's plate was a mash of beans and migas, it made him nauseous with the smell of what seems like a public restroom in the back of the restaurant, not to mention the view of the dumpster and boxes of restaurant supplies stacked outside. Terrible. Let's face it: this is the largest tex-mex joint in a small town with a small university where students don't like to venture past a square mile from campus. Every small town in Texas has it's tex-mex joint, and it is always well loved. It is almost always misplaced love based on limited experience. When I was twelve, I couldn't get enough Wolf Brand Chili on top of Mission Tortillas stuffed with Kraft Cheddar cheese, either. Alas, I've dropped a pair since then. Had the most disgusting appetizer of my life here. Lukewarm cheddar cheese with wooden sticks, enough said. Go to Taco C and get some street tacos instead. It'll be a lot more "authentic", way less senselessly greasy, and it won't come with a parking lot full of NORML stickers and Dodge Rams. read more

I went here for lunch Saturday with my parents. With as much complaining as other Yelpers have done about the parking lot, I was surprised to see as much parking as I did. Granted, there aren't a LOT of spots in their parking lot, but with as little indoor seating as Dos Salsas seems to have, it seemed like there would be almost enough parking spaces if the restaurant was at full capacity. And at full capacity it was... at 3:15pm! Even still, we had no trouble getting a parking space. There was one empty table when we got inside, so we lucked out. The waitress was very nice and I liked her, even though it took her a good seven minutes to even say hello to us. I don't remember what any of us ordered, but my mother thought the food could've/should've been spicier. I don't think I've ever heard her say that, so it's safe to say the food was pretty devoid of spices. Personally, it didn't bother me. Since it's Tex-Mex, my mother expected it to be spicier. I'm not altogether sure exactly what Tex-Mex cooking consists of, but according to Wikipedia, "Tex-Mex cuisine is characterized by its heavy use of melted cheese, meat (particularly beef), beans, and spices..." So, according to Wikipedia, I guess my mother had a right to expect spicy food. Frankly, though, I've eaten at plenty of Tex-Mex places with my parents, and I never thought any of the other places' dishes were particularly spicy. Like I said earlier, I wasn't bother by the absence of spiciness. I quite enjoyed my meal (two cheese enchiladas, queso, one beef taco, rice and beans), and we all agreed that the portions were generous. That after which the restaurant was named, however, was pretty uninspired. They gave us a red salsa and a "green" salsa. I say "green" because it looked to be more of a honey-green to me. I liked the "green" salsa because I honestly do think there was honey -- or some other sweet ingredient -- in there. None of us much cared for the red salsa. I thought it was too heavy on cilantro. The three of us agreed that neither salsa was spicy-hot enough. Here is where I agree with my parents. Now, I don't want salsa that is so spicy-hot that it gives me a coughing fit, but I neither want salsa that is as tame as a tranquilized lion. Since I live a good 20-25 miles south of Georgetown, I can't see myself returning to Dos Salsas, unless my parents want to give it another go. If I was basing this review on only my opinions, I'd probably give it four stars, but I felt I should take my parents' opinions into consideration since I went to the trouble of asking for their opinions (sometimes a mistake). More group opinion gives the rest of you Yelpers better ability to make a more informed decision about whether or not to patronize a restaurant. I say you should certainly give Dos Salsas a try if you're in Georgetown. read more

Just sat down here for lunch. Highly recommended from guys at Corsair Turbine. Got a pecan praline to sample as I came in. Is good and fresh. Orchata to drink. I forgot say no ice please. I don't like ice in any drink ever. Have asked for shrimp and pablano pepper dish. Is wonderful and lots of shrimp. Fried or grilled fresh jalapeños and Mex coffee requested. No problem. Is enroute. The jalapeños are barely grilled but quite good. Everything as requested and beautiful and excellent completely. Mex coffee is good. Raw sugar at table, unusual but very nice. So one of my pictures is the fried/grilled peppers with raw sugar overtop, just to cool them a bit. And these are not real hot anyway. Just right. Here is a great example...getting more than expected. Amazing service from lovely lady and did not take but maybe 5 minutes and I had chow sitting here. All requests were promptly attended. Be Afraid!!!! So i visited this restaurant for the first time a day ago and was highly disappointed. I arrived at the restaurant during lunch time. Yes they were on a wait so I gave my name to the hostess. She did not understand me so I spelled my name. Again she looked at me with a puzzle look, so just wrote down ??? for my name and gave me a pager. We had requested a table on the patio being that it was such a nice day. When our pager went off I took it to the front and gave it to the hostess. She point to the patio and said your table is ready out there and then continued back to her business. So we went outside and sat ourselves. Our table was right next to the order taker kiosk. I had to move the table the opposite direction just to have enough room to sit down. There was only one waiter working the patio and was doing a descent job considering he had 9 tables. When my over priced food came out I grabbed my tortillas to eat. I LIVE ROACH was in my tortillas. So I commonly gave the waiter my tortillas and asked him if I could have some different ones since these had a ROACH in them. He said sure like I was asking for more water. When he brought the new ones out he quickly said sorry and went back to work. Never once did I get a visit from the manager or anyone else apologizing for there nasty restaurant. I received no comp for my food. I understand that these things happen, but that's not why I will NEVER go back. Its because they failed to follow up on the situation. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The service sucks and the food is just ok. But you do get free roaches with every meal . read more

The customer service here is not the best and they continuously mess up orders. Be sure to check you bag before you leave because you will have to go back and pick up your stuff again. We've been dining at Dos since they've opened. Every time we come home, we have to eat here. But tonight we had the worst service we've ever had. And I may never go back. After a 1 hr 45 min wait (which didn't seem warranted as it wasn't that busy) we were seated without anyone waiting on us. After my FIL tracked him down, we got icy cold service. As if we were being an inconvenience to him. Finally after food arrived, it was ice cold. Horrible. We used to recommend Dos to anyone who came to Georgetown, but I wouldn't recommend what we just experience to anyone. Except the drinks at the bar and the bar staff. My relatives took me here after raving about it. I'd have to say my raised expectations were thoroughly shattered - this place is decidedly average. It's very reasonably priced, but the food was rather bland and overloaded with cheese and sauces. The portions are huge (as are some of the customers!) but I guess that's just a Texas thing. Almost one star off for impossible parking but that's anywhere these days. We arrived around 530 on a Thursday evening and the place was already packed. We all ordered the brisket burrito with rice and guac salad. Once again proving everything IS bigger in Texas. The brisket had that wood fired bbq crisp to it. Cheese covered and surrounded the tortilla. Not a big fan of rice I managed to clean my plate anyway. Completely stuffed and satisfied I chugged my glass of Coke that never fell below 3/4 full. Delicious, fresh Mexican food fast. We love Dos, and haven't had a bad experience yet. The red salsa is my favorite, paired with a Mexican Martini. Yum! The tortilla soup is fantastic, as are the salads. But the gem of the menu is the tostada plate. They serve these tiny street taco things with each kind of meat you could have (there are 4.) I've been here a dozen times and have had okay to great service (never bad). Obviously when its packed the service slides a bit. The food is ALWAYS good though. Get the Fermin's plate (green enchiladas are where its at!!!) My only complaint is one time I left my sunglasses on the table and went to a hair cut appt...came back 1 hour later to pick them up (realized I forgot them) and every person I talked to acted like "too bad so sad" (I was gone 1 hour!!) and we tipped 20% on our meal. I was furious because they were only 2 day old sunglasses and cost $20 so why would people even want to steal them?? I left my name and # and started my drive home. Almost home and fuming I called to check one last time and got the manager on the phone, he said "I was about to call you, we found them" so I had to drive BACK 15 minutes to get them (was happy though). I just thought the whole ordeal was a bit sketchy...I talked to my waitress and the manager the 1st time around when I was in the restaurant but they wouldn't help but then I leave and they will? I don't know what really happened but overall I would say this is a solid place with great food and good service - just don't leave any of your stuff behind. Dos Salsas is a solid, if uninspired, Tex-Mex joint. I had the stuffed pechuga , and it was quite filling. The cook/chef. owner needs to realize that excessive cheese is just as bad as not enough cheese.The cheese was excessive, and I'm a cheese lover.The flavor was good,but nothing extraordinary.The food comes out quite quickly even on a busy night, which leads me to believe that the majority of the entrees are excessively pre-prepped ,dolloped with cheese,flash melted, and served.The margarita was small for the price, and very average.Would I eat here on occasion? We just had The worst experience. Our waiter was awful. Our food came out and wasn't what we were expecting at all. The waiter seemed to know that was going to happen because he said after he brought out the food that isn't anything like described by the menu. I said that was alright until looking down immediately and seeing a long black hair with the bulb still attached across this food I didn't even want. I tell the man and he doesn't even say "sorry about that" nothing he touches the hair on my plate picked up the plate and says what else do you want... He brings out the second dish assumes I want chicken, doesn't offer me and choices of beans (I didn't even know it came with sides). The second dish was just okay. my best friend Asked specifically to have fajita chicken with her salad. He bring out shredded. The salt shaker was filthy and would not shake out any salt. I told him and he opens up the salt shaker and reveals brown nasty slug all over the top on the shaker where the top screws on. He didn't even seem to care. It was only when he couldn't clear the top holes that he says he will get us a different one. Never once was there an apology or acknowledgment of what a horrible experience we had just had. If you want good mexican food (I stress good, not great) and don't feel like travelling all the way into Austin for great Mexican food than Dos Salsas is the place for you. One of the more popular places in town and always packed on most evenings especially Friday and Saturday. It's too bad they have no room to grow because they could probably easily double their eating areas and still be full on most evenings. No bar area to speak of really; there is a bar with stools but you are surrounded by restaurant tables so not a place to hang out and have a few margaritas although they are good. Like I said, the food is good, not great; really expecting more spices and kick to the dishes but it just isn't there for most dishes. I guess you have to cater to the "gringo" crowds that normally pack the place! I'm partial to their chilie rellenos, especially the BBQ; also like the smothered chicken with peppers (this one is definitely spicy!) and their green chicken enchiladas are good as well. What they lack in attention to spice and taste, they make up for in the mass! You will definitely never leave hungry; they do a good job of keeping you charged with chips and salsa (two kinds and both are very good) and the plates are enormous. The only true drawback to the place is the wait on busy nights; can be up to an hour at least. They have covered their front patio so you can dine on it all the time now but you'll still wait awhile. Best to go early or try it for lunch. Parking in almost non-existent in their lot so you are best just to park on the street. All in all definitely a place I go to and enjoy when I don't feel like driving 40 minutes. I'll give it a solid B. read more

As others have noted, it's a busy place. Food and drinks are ok, not great, but passable. Our issue was the service. We were seated outside on the deck, as requested. It's got roughly 12-15ish tables. One server. He was trying hard, but there was no way he could keep up. I understand the whole more tables=more money thing, but we waited and waited for everything. Dinner should not take an hour and a half, with no wait for a table mind you. We might go back, but it's going to be a while. read more
