Don't order take out from this restaurant... I've eaten here at least a dozen times since moving to Georgetown in January, and the wait staff is wonderful. That said, my experience with take out has been awful. The order is frequently messed up which I typically deal with because the food is still good. This evening the order was not only wrong but he food was COLD! I attempted to call them when I learned this but the phone was continuously busy. I drove back to have the wrong fixed and was provided with the same platter, just reheated! For the price they ask of their food, I expect much HIGHER customer service when things are screwed up so poorly! I will no longer be eating here and will be sure everyone I know in the area is aware of their poor service as well. read more

Wonderful place! I have been taking my 18 year old son here since he was a toddler after his "My First Gym" classes, and some of the original staff recognizes him to this day!! We have been going here consistently for years and you won't find better in Tex Mex and American-food,"Chicken fried steak" and their delicious bar drinks. A friend of ours took us here for dinner on Friday night, we had to drive around to find street parking as the parking lot was full, it took us 15mts to find parking at walking distance. Friday night this place was packed, I am told they are always this busy... I mean really packed with people waiting, people at the bar, people everywhere... we waited 45mts for a table. It was a cold night and we had to wait outside on the patio, they had space heaters but could not keep up warm. I was telling my friend, this better be worth the trouble. I was not disappointed. We ordered Parrillada fajitas, Beef Fajitas Poblanas and Chicken Enchiladas. The fajitas were top notch, the beef was really well marinated and cooked perfectly. I was not impressed with the enchiladas, Chuy's probably has better enchiladas. I rate most Mexican restaurants by this simple dish (enchiladas) simply because this is the easiest dish on the menu. So I am forced to give them a 3 stars instead of 4. Our wait staff served us with a smile, although she could not help us figure out what was in our dish she did try, so service was not bad. I will definitely return to this place and possibly update my review. read more

First ever visit to Georgetown brought Dos Salsas into my world. Being Mexican and Vegan/Vegetarian I don't much like to go out to Mexican food places as I'm never impressed as I am with homecooking. Dos Salsas was a middle of the way place that I wouldn't outright recommend to someone passing through town. Our Vegetarian Fajita plate had meat in it that my gf unfortunately ate after not having eaten meat in years. Our vegetarian enchiladas were stuffed with shrimp as well. MAYBE NOT THE PLACE FOR A VEGETARIAN WHOS CONCERNED ABOUT POSSIBLY EATING MEAT IN THEIR DISH. The fajita plate was tasty and a plate for 2 went 3 ways, so wahoo! Manager did want to make the experience better after learning of our complaints but what were we going to ask for? Free food? Eh... Not that kinda guy. This place needs to be more careful outright though with feeding people meat when specifically they're asking for something that doesn't have it. read more

I find this restaurant to serve very uninspired Tex Mex. It is cheesy and greasy, and not in that good Tex Mex way, but in that smother the food and they'll eat it kind of way. Most of the food is pretty bland, lacking hardly any distinctive flavors. The margaritas are made from mix and are sticky sweet. The place is almost never clean and always packed and loud. I don't understand the appeal, except that I think it seems familiar to people who are used to chain restaurant Tex Mex. The one plus is that it does have a low fat/low carb menu, which has some pretty ok items, like chicken breasts with veggies. El Charrito serves much better fare and is not nearly as crowded. read more

Hubbs and I had a class up in Georgetown and had less than an hour for lunch at noon. The instructor recommended this place as it was only 5 minutes away. Being a Saturday at noon, parking was challenging as their lot was full and I feared there'd be a wait for a table or it would take forever since the place was obviously busy. A top-notch server, Aleyda, and a very efficient kitchen took care of that worry. We were in and out of there in 35 minutes which was fantastic. Now for the food... Aleyda brought us chips and salsas very quickly. The chips were nice and hot, and the perfect thickness. Both green and red salsas were fresh and delicious. We started with Dos Salsas Queso--queso with pico, guac, and taco meat. The portion was generous and there were no refried beans in it (I hate refried beans in my loaded queso). It was one of the best quesos I've had. Hubbs ordered the Enchiladas de Cameron (shrimp) because he judges every Mexican restaurant by that dish. The shrimp were twice the size of what he usually gets at our regular haunt in Pflugerville. He loved the rice that came with the dish, too--not typical traditional Spanish rice at all. I ordered the poblano queso flameado for lunch and it didn't disappoint, served flaming tableside. Lots of fresh poblano pepper in there and the bacon was nice and chunky--not thin little pieces. There were no "filler" onions which was nice. Overall it was a great experience and we'll make the trip up to Georgetown again just for the sole purpose of eating there. I have been a fan of Dos Salsa's for years. Unfortunately, the last two years have seen a serious downturn in service and food quality. When my wife and I go,we are met with truly mediocre service at best. It has gotten to the point that I only order simple items on the menu. Otherwise, I end sending back undercooked dishes. When the dish returns the Main entree is now done, but they return it to the original plate, so the beans and rice are cold. Just lack of attention or caring. People are figuring this out. In times passed every night there would be a crowd waiting. During the week there is little, if any, wait. read more

Went out with my friend for a late dinner. The food was pretty good, my steak was over done a little... Well kinda a lot, but it's okay cause it still tasted alright. Always busy, lousy parking, inconsistent service and still our favorite Mexican food restaurant. We've been going there since we moved back to Texas in 2002 and haven't had a bad meal yet. Have had lots of inconsistent service and people getting tables ahead of us but the food's always good. And the service issues are never mean-spirited, most often they just look overwhelmed. We went to dinner tonight at this restaurant thinking we would have a great dinner. Well, the red salsa had metal shavings in it! We let our waitress know that this was in the salsa and she said she would let the manager know. A young lady came over and asked what we needed and we let her know that we found metal shavings in the salsa. I presume it was the manager. She said, "oh, that is weird." My husband mentioned that it might have come off any metal can that was opened and she said they make their salsa fresh. That was that. We did not expect anything other than an apology but didn't get that. Hope none of the other customers got any of these pieces of metal down their throat. Didn't see anyone remove salsa cups off the other tables in the restaurant, which as the manager I would have done immediately. No one ever brought us any fresh salsa although we probably would not have eaten it. We will NOT be going back. And the food was not that great. I went by every Mexican/Tex Mex restaurant in Georgetown (and a few in Round Rock) and Dos Salsas was the place I selected to cater my husband's surprise 30th birthday party. The manager was so sweet to meet with me and go over my options that were in my budget and even offered to do some additional things for the party. Even when I had to change some things up a week before the party they were easy to deal with and accommodating. The food was on time and was a big hit. Everyone (from the vegetarians to the big meat eaters) loved the food. We had tons left over and made take home plates for people (and then still had plenty of food). The people at Dos Salsas were very friendly and helpful and everyone enjoyed the food. I will def. be eating here again and would recommend them to anyone looking for Tex Mex/Mexican food. read more

First, the parking: I walk from my house so I don't mind the parking, but yes you will have to park down the street most likely and walk... BIG DEAL. Second, the service: they are always busy from breakfast to dinner, so expect that. Third: the food.. it is okay, it is not mind-blowing, but if you are expecting that, go somewhere else. No matter what my boyfriend and I order, we always walk out saying "still the best mexican food in Georgetown, Austin, Round Rock, etc. Also, their Mexican Martinis cannot be beat (not even by Trudy's). They are opening up a new location soon in Cedar Park, so I'm looking forward to trying that one out as well. The reason for the 4 stars is the service. Their service isn't very great. I love this restaurant, I do. Yes, the parking lot is small, and yes, you often have to wait a bit for a table. But, it is definitely worth it. Best tortilla soup in the county, hands down, That is unless you stop by my house for dinner... the hubby makes one so good it'll make you wanna smack your granny. When it is hot out, nothing tastes as good as a frozen sangria margarita. Perfect combination of sweet and tart. The chorizo queso flamedo is amazing! Served with fresh hot flour tortillas, I could eat until I popped. However, with the chorizo, it tends be be a bit greasy, tasty, but greasy. OMG!!! The stuffed pechuga! Chicken stuffed with Monterrey jack cheese, mushrooms and bacon, rolled up, fried and slathered with chili con queso. Served piping hot with beans and rice and flour tortillas. This dish has so much food, the hubby and I can share it and be full. Well, that is if you indulge in the complimentary chips and salsa before hand. I never go home hungry or disappointed. This review is a summary of more than one visit. The food is ok - a couple notches above a fast food Mexican restaurant and the food does comes out fast even before my husband can even finish the 1st plate. The one star is because the only thing they get right here and that I believe is homemade is their salsa. People love this place but I have to believe it is because the choices in Georgetown are slim especially with full bars. The biggest downfall is the way the restaurant is run. The "hostesses" if you can even call them that just wave or point to the table where you are to seat yourself after waiting an hour. No menus, no silverware, no napkins and they frankly don't care because they have plenty of customers lined up to eat there. If you like to ask your server for silverware and then because she doesn't bring it, get up and ask the hostesses for silverware who just give you a dirty look and act like you are bothering them, then this is the place for you. The only people that hustle in this place and appear to care that you are there is the guy bussing the tables and bringing your first installment of chips and salsa along with the bartenders. If you don't care about how you are treated and just want to chow down on mediocre Tex Mex, you will love this place! read more

Wife and I dropped in for a late lunch with a couple of friends. We ordered the nachos for an appetizer and ordered the fajita tacos for our entree. Well the nachos came out and were quite good. However the waitress brought us another order on fajita nachos instead of tacos. I think we have a problem communicating here. The waitress just shrugged and we ate another serving of nachos. We have been here several times since moving here 1.5 years ago, and it is always a great choice. Chips are nice a crispy but not greasy, salsa is great, and the food is fantastic. I like the food..service is hit or miss..Last time wasn't good. I understand it has to be stressful though..Its not on par with San Antone or Austins best but is trendy and fun...My biggest gripe is the food is not a 1 dollar sign..For Mexican a little pricey especially with 3 kids like us.
