I came here with a group of girl friends and loved the ambience of this place! The restaurant was so pretty and is near the waterfront so we took pictures after dinner. For drinks, I got the Coco Chanel and it was by far my favorite drink I have ever gotten at a place! It's sweet and a little milky from the coconut foam. My friend got the Margarita flight and I thought it was decent. The mango one was probably the best tasting and the spicy was quite spicy. The other flavors tasted too similar and didn't stand out. As for food, it was better than what I expected but quite expensive. I honestly would skip the Brazilian cheese bread. It was $8 for 4 tiny pieces; basically tasted the same as the frozen ones you can get at Costco. We got the seafood taco which was shrimp that day and it was so bland. It really needed some sauce on it. The Mexican cheese corn was pretty good! And we also got the paella for 2 (which I think is enough to share with 4!) which was pretty good as well and I would get again. Overall, a beautiful place. The servers were nice. Expensive place but I would come again for the experience. I wouldn't come here expecting to get full though unless if I really wanted to splurge. read more

Dosalas wowed me as soon as I walked in. It's decorated beautifully with a gorgeous view of the water. Our server Paris was very patient as we were visiting from another state and meeting family, naturally the first half an hour of seating was purely us catching up and we didn't even get a chance to look at the menu. The food was outstanding. I ordered the octopus on the recommendation of the server and it did not disappoint. Everything on that plate was perfect and tasty. We wanted to go somewhere on the more upscale end for New Year's Eve, so we decided to try Dosalas. When I called to discuss a reservation, I was told on the phone that they were totally booked. So I checked online and was able to reserve a table there. We arrived and were seated promptly. The inside of the restaurant feels very "Vegas" - sparkles, low light, and expensive tequilas line the wall. We ordered the margarita flight (pictured) and the Vintage Fashion. We didn't know the flight was essentially four full size margaritas! The Vintage Fashion also arrived in a fancy box full of smoke. All were delicious. For food, we got the empanadas, the burrata, the tuna tostadas, and the Mexican street corn. I think we enjoyed the burrata the most! Overall, service was good, the food and drinks were good, but I do think it's quite a bit over priced. We enjoyed our night but probably won't be back unless there's another celebration. read more

Loud not a date night place. Food is good, seafood was cooked perfectly. Spicy strawberry margarita was fantastic. Service was friendly. It was just extremely loud. Sitting side by side at the bar or at a table you can't really carry on a conversation without repeating yourself. Decor was strange white baskets for hanging lamps mixed with crystal hanging lamps and stone like arches. Not exactly sure what look they where going for but it's a hodgepodge style. All in all I would try it with friends for a fun night out but absolutely nothing for a romantic date night dinner. Actually changed to 4 stars because I think it is fantastic that a business owner reaches out. I would also like so state that my opinion on ambiance is just that my opinion. Others obviously really enjoy the atmosphere and I hope continue to enjoy their experience. Frankly I'm disappointed in the changes I have seen at Dosalas. This is the third consecutive Valentine's Day my partner and I have celebrated there, the last two were amazing, but this visit was a serious let down. I don't know if they crammed in extra tables for the holiday, or if this is how they seat people all the time these days, but we were seated in a row of tiny tables placed uncomfortably close together. I would have had more elbow room on a bus. We nearly refused the table, but the reservation required a deposit, so we decided to stick it out. The next issue came with the water. The water we were served, was undrinkable. I live in Vancouver. I know what our tap water tastes like, I drink it all the time. This was awful, it tasted of metal and chlorine. When I requested different water I was told "it all comes from the same hose in the kitchen" and my only other option was a bottle of sparkling water (no bottled still water was available). The food, I'll admit, was great as always. Clearly the mismanagement here is only in the front of house, the kitchen still earns my complements. Though we were tempted to order the flaming Alfredo (it would have been comical to watch them attempt to prepare it "table side") we settled for an assortment of small plates, all of which were excellent. Each of them (save one) was initially delivered to the tables on either side of us, but they were nonetheless excellent. The issue here is plainly a front of house manager who cares more about butts in chairs than he does about the quality of the experience. Tonight they were overbooked to the extreme, and the experience suffered for it. A shame for a venue that has emojis on its menu to indicate which items are "Instagram worthy." Seriously guys, if anyone in management reads this review, I hope you take it to heart. By focusing on maximizing your profits instead of providing excellent service, you're going to drive your business into the ground. You can't coast on perfect real estate forever. You had over four stars when we first visited four years ago, not the case anymore. Needless to say, we will be finding a different venue for life's important moments in the future. read more

The food was underwhelming over priced to say the least. For a tequila bar, the mixed drink was very mediocre- there was too much lime, the drink itself tasted like it had salt in it, and we could not taste the mezcal. We asked for a shot of tequila and it came in a champagne glass....It's definitely a place for influences to go to take photos and hang out. It's not a place to get good food. The furniture and decor were cheap and looked gaudy and tacky. The floor looked disgusting - leaves and debris everywhere. The only good thing there was the server - she was so sweet and very accommodating. Had it not been for her, we would have left immediately after getting our appetizer. If you're a wannabe influencer with no taste buds and love gaudy, tacky decor then come here. You'll fit right in with all the others the come here. Portland is not necessarily known for being stuffy or overly posh. Dosalas might get as close to that as one could imagine. There is a conspicuous use of CAP - Certified Attractive People in nearly every role at this restaurant. I don't mind them catering to their clientele but you should not be squeamish about lots of athletic bodies stuffed into very tight clothing. The food, the real reason we went here, was absolutely on point. The Mexican corn had enough heat to my taste (but others at our table tapped out after one serving). It had bright and authoritative flavors they felt authentically Mexican. The mushrooms were delightful in their buttery white wine sauce. The bread was a welcome accommodation as one could not abide letting all that delicious umami broth go to waste. The pão de queijo, ahem, I mean Brazilian cheese bread seemed a little superfluous but the kids at the table enjoyed them. The paella got rave reviews at our table. If I recall, the waiter said they have a dedicated paella and steak chef. It showed. The seafood was perfectly cooked, the saffron infused rice was redolent of spice without being fatiguing, and the essential crispy bottom was gloriously intact. There was naught but shells when all was said and done. Lastly and not be be outshone was the tomahawk steak. I am normally not one for such theatrics. Yes, the bone makes for more gentle cooking but there is a part of me that bristles at paying for inedible bone. Still - the steak was flawlessly cooked, seasoned properly, and lovingly disassembled table side by the chef. I would certainly go again and if you want some good Mexican, give them a try yourself. The restaurant setting is beautiful and, spacious, with modern decor, and the view of Columbia. The music and ambience was loud, making it difficult for our party of six to chat. This place is perfect for a special occasion with drinking and nibbling. I wouldn't recommend this place for dinner alone, if you're not drinking alcohol. The menu is limited, the portions small, and expensive. The cuisine is small bites/tapas style. The presentation of the food was lovely. The quality of the food was good, but not impressive. We got tuna, tostadas, essentially raw tuna, with special sauce, served on top of a round tortilla chip. Each order had four tostadas. The pork belly was tasty, also portion to four pieces. Paella to share, is essentially dinner portion for two people. Expect to pay double the norm for alcoholic drinks. There is a 20% automatic gratuity for parties of six or more. The service was OK, but I don't think it deserved 20%. Our total bill came to almost $700, for six small tapas, one paella and drinks. read more

I made reservations to take my husband here for Father's Day. Our adult sons wouldn't be home (college and military) so I wanted to make the day special even without our kids. I had noted in my reservation that I wanted the best possible table, outdoors, and made said reservation several weeks in advance. We arrived at Dosalas and immediately were impressed with the vibes. The entry/lobby is swanky and feels upscale. We were directed upstairs, and met by an employee who took us to our table. Here is where it went downhill. We were brought to an outdoor table (which I'd requested) but it was RIGHT NEXT TO THE DOOR. This layout felt a little weird as it was, like you walk through a service area where they enter food orders and keep cleaning supplies to get outside. Not well thought out. On the other side of the glass where we were seated was a table with DIRTY RAG that was there the entire meal (see picture). After we were seated I asked if we could possibly move. There were plenty of tables open, closer to the water, with better views...and not next to a highly used door with a view of chatting employees and dirty rags. Since my reservation had been made about a month ago, I'd assumed we'd get a bit better of a spot than what essentially felt like a service corridor. I was told no, that they were all reserved for incoming reservations. I find it important to note that over the 90 minutes we were there, many of these tables remained empty. Maybe I should have mentioned to them that I'm a 4 year in a row Elite Yelper??? Just kidding. All jokes aside though, I find this super annoying. Additionally, the table/seats we were at literally jolted each and every time an employee went in and out of this door. Having 3 prior spinal surgeries, I felt each of these comings and goings in a quite uncomfortable manner. I honestly don't know WHY this table is even utilized, the location of it is simply ridiculous and MAYBE would be a good last resort on a busy night with people who would take anything! It's just terrible! Our food was good. Drinks were decent. I still maintain that our favorite hole in the wall Mexican restaurant in Vancouver makes the best margaritas. However, we DID enjoy the food. Would I return? Maybe if it was an invite for a get together and that's where the host chose to go. Would I book a date night here again? Absolutely NOT. Weeks later I'm still appalled by this TERRIBLE table we were seated at, being told it was our only option, and enduring the feeling of a date night amongst the staff work station. read more

A really unique space with a club vibe - this is a great spot for girls night. Great view, beautiful space, unique cocktails + the salmon dish were all things I enjoyed. Things that didn't meet the mark for me - prices of items were a bit over. We had a group of 3 and spent over $300. We ordered three small plates, one entree and drinks. Service was very slow. Even after the restaurant started slowing down, and guests cleared out and even though we had two servers. We didn't order another round of drinks because we didn't want to wait longer. A side note, the mushrooms as a small plate are the ones on the salmon dish (just a good thing to know if you've asked your server for recommendations and they don't mention that two of your dishes are repeat items). Yes yes yes yes! Loved this place! I just moved from San Francisco 5 months ago and had been looking for something like this for a while! Expected to be noisy! It gives Caribbean and Miami vibes! So if this isn't your jam, don't come and give it bad reviews.... If you come you will get Latin vibes! Ok onto the delicious food.... I started with margarita flights $36: passion fruit, strawberry, mango and spicy. Spicy was my favorite because it's the closest to a classic margarita. I guess I wish I liked the flavored margaritas but that was my fault. Not my favorite but they were all great! For appetizer, I chose the pork empanadas $18 and they were delicious, beef was moist and fresh, dough was fresh too and smooth. The dipping sauce complimented the empanada and the pickled onion was the cherry on top! The plate came together beautifully. For the main plate, I chose the octopus plate $45, it included tomatillo, potato bites, cauliflower and a delicious sauce I forgot what it was called BUT the plate despite the potato felt so fresh! The octopus was tender. The portion was big and I'm glad I didn't get a second appetizer. Ended the night with the chocolate cake with very rich vanilla ice cream and the cajeta was on the side. I wish it would have been drizzled because I'm the dark I missed it! The fire pit area was too dark for me too see that, oooppssss The restaurant is on the second floor of the building which makes it a perfect spot for sunset time! Dosalas is a vibe especially if you come here on a Friday/Saturday night. We made 2 visits here recently: the first time being on a Saturday night and the second time being on a Sunday early afternoon. Such a huge difference in vibes between the two but still enjoyed each visit. The Saturday night we came, the place was packed and the music was loud and even had a DJ inside, so make sure to book reservations ahead of the time. Upon booking your reservation online, you have the option to select your preferred seating/table area. We chose to sit outside in the covered patio space and loved it. The patio overlooks the waterfront and we were able to catch the sunset as well. With the place being so packed, I was impressed with how often we were checked up on. We also came for lunch on a Sunday and it was much more relaxed and the music was low. I feel like the prices are pretty steep but I think given the space and the area, that itself plays into a factor? Not sure. My boyfriend and I shared 2 small plates, a drink for him and a margarita flight for me and the total was over $120 after tip. The chef's choice ceviche was shrimp that night and we enjoyed it but thought the included tostadas could've gone without the spices. Drinks are fun and are "IG worthy."The margarita prices on the menu seem high but we came to find out that they also give you the shaker with the remainder of your drink so you end up with about ~3 drinks total. If you're getting the margarita flight, make sure to give it a quick stir. I was wondering why my drinks tasted like there was no tequila but it turns out it was all sitting at the bottom. My boyfriend ordered the Vintage Fashion that came out in an applewood smoke box. There's two huge parking lots (will need to pay) but those fill up easy so you might want to factor in time to find parking as there our other eateries and breweries in the area. This is my first time here, so expectations where high. The new-ish hot place on the waterfront and the ambiance doesn't disappoint. When greeted, I felt welcome and was shown my table like I was a VIP, nice, super friendly. Drinks came quick and with an amazing server that had all the answers for a great time, and talked to us like we were regulars. Amazing service is the reason I will return to this place, however, the food, though only had the small menu, was a little less than. Is it just the same guacamole with different unseasoned toppings? Not sure... Ordered the cheese, Guacamole, and empanadas, could get a better fix at a local food cart. My recommendation is to try this place for yourself, if you like a mix of Vegas "elegance" with a great NW riverfront view, this is your place. Downtown Vancouver is so much more fun post Covid , something about people coming out with a vengeance or the new cool spots but this reminds of how Portland downtown used to be few years back .Dosalas has a very convenient location right next to two huge parking lots and smack on the waterfront . We did reservations and yet had to wait at least 15 minutes before they escorted us to our seats. The place has a classy club -meets -a restaurant with a view vibe . The views would have been perfect if we could have seen anything but the patio was covered so we decided to instead sit next to the fire . The place was brimming with people and the music was loud but overall it was not that loud that we couldn't t talk . Service is good but slow and everything takes a while to come even the drinks . Our server was friendly and answered questions and gave good recommendations . we had - The Empanadas - Excellent and highly recommended . They were crispy flavorful and came out piping hot . Guacamole Trio - This was your beloved Guac just being garnished with corns, Shrimp and cheese etc . Comes with big tostada chips . It was nothing special but we decided to have some munchies with our drinks because we had dinner plans for later in the night . Chocolate Torte -This was a nice surprise , I could totally give this dessert 6/5 ,it was that good . We saw the fancy Sunday with a lot of sparkles but decided it was too much for us to be able to finish and I am so glad because we enjoyed the torte 100% Margarita Sampler - This was average nothing special but we wanted to try the different flavors. The Passion fruit came out as the winner and the spicy margarita was rejected outright by all . The Vintage Fashion - This was the drink that first made me notice Dosalas ,so we really had to try it . It came in an Applewood smoke box and had fancy shenanigan's written all over it . The drink honestly was good with just the right amount of smokiness. Our Experience here was fun and would have been more if the prices were not sky-high. Everything was expensive but the cocktails being this highly priced doesn't make sense . Even if they charge for the location , its still a tad bit expensive to pay $20+ for a single drink.
