I got to say this was a pleasant surprise on the Vancouver waterfront. A friend of mine invited me there for lunch meeting and it was definitely a treat. The restaurant gives me a Vegas club vibe, definitely upscale, there are people in cocktail attire and people in shorts and flip flops at least when we were there at 6:15 on a Saturday. Our waiter was amazing and we loved him. There was a bit of a wait and took some time to get seated even with a reservation so there's that but the restaurant itself was top tier and the workers and scenery made up for it. Here's a individual review of each of our meals. Tim: I got myself the empanadas but be warned they are on the smaller end. After I took my first bite I'm pretty sure I had a religious experience and spoke to god. After that I instantly ordered another set of empanadas to go with my first set. Yummy. The empanadas came out pretty quickly and we're warm and crispy. 100% would recommend. Shaniza: The glow of the tostadas was almost exotic. I wasn't sure if I should eat it in one bite or take smaller ones, I eventually went with small bites to accentuate the taste as much as possible. It tasted like sushi (not that cheap ass sushi stuff, imagine the most quality sushi ever) on a tortilla and the subtle spice of the sauce topped it all off. Overall all when all factors are taken into consideration, the service was in our opinion a solid 4.25/5 stars, the food was easily a 5/5, scenery a super easy 5/5, but the wait comes in last with a 3/5. We came a few nights ago at 10:20 for a 10:30 pm reservation. The front door of the restaurant was locked. The host who was at the stand opened the door and told us they were closing. When I explained we had a reservation she changed he tune and walked us upstairs. Once seated we ordered a round of drinks, ceviche, the guacamole sampler and octopus. Ambience (think Las Vegas club restaurant) is 5/5, food 4/5. Unfortunately, our server did not leave her mask on while speaking to us. She had her mask under her chin/face. And no vaccine cards were checked so you would hope servers would keep masks on. After she took our order l, she only came back to offer the bill. When we asked for another drink she said they had shut everything down. Would it not have made sense for her to check on us prior to closing us out? read more

When I checked in for our reservation, the hostess forgot about us so we had to be placed back on the list and ended up waiting well over an hour for our table. It was an extremely busy night and it just seemed like they were overwhelmed. Once seated, the service was okay. A bit slow, but again, it was a busy night and longer wait times are to be expected. No biggie. Fair warning, this threw me for a loop: When you order- your food comes out whenever it's ready. So if your mashed potatoes are done before your main dish, they'll come out first. This was a bit different for me and something I've only experienced once or twice- it's not my favorite style of dining at all. My salmon came out a good 15-20 minutes after the mashed potatoes did. Like dude, I want to eat my meat and my sides together! Lol But listen....the food was and I will definitely give them another chance! Everything was hot and delivered fresh (even if it is served out of order, lol) and it was so full of flavor. We loved everything we had. The short rib empanadas melt in your mouth! Finally made it to Dosalas last night for my birthday... all I can say is bravo! The restaurant was hopping, but we were seated right by the window to watch the lighted boat parade, the balcony was heated and was very comfortable, the restaurant has a great vibe, and though a bit loud for my old ears, was not terribly so.. Our server Chase, was on his game, he made great suggestions and when one of our party wanted a bit more cook time on her steak he was gracious and professional and Chefs in the back made her entree perfect!! Great location. Great view. Great presentation of the food. Staff was very friendly; smiles all around. Unfortunately, I must leave a one star review because of one simple reason: salt. Everything was WAY too salty. I literally wondered if one of their kitchen staff got mad, quit earlier in the day, and just poured salt over everything as he was leaving. We had to return two items and I hate doing that. The items we didn't return were too salty as well but we powered through it. I have a full blown headache from the massive intake of sodium. It has a very chic high class modern ambiance. Super fun, super nice. They have white marble throughout, with white alligator couch seating. It is on the second floor so they have a nice view of the river. I'm not going to write out what the place looks like so just go check it out! This is definitely one of the more exotic places we have in the Portland/Vancouver area. Food: I've come here multiple times and have tried a variety of the food and it is all very good. The flavors, the seasoning and the cooking is all done very well. Not once have I had a meal fall short in those categories. The portions are smaller and the prices are HIGH for the food and even higher for the drinks. Is the price worth the food? Ehh, highly depends on what kind of experience you're looking for. First things first every time we visit Dos Alas we are always soo impressed!! I have tried so many drinks and even the pitcher drink is phenomenal. The Tomahawk steak is a must it melts in your mouth! My alllll time favorite appetizer is the Cauliflower Bites. When the weather is nice we love to sit on the bayside that overlooks the water it's so beautiful. When it gets cool or on dreary days some seating is surrounded by table top fire incased in glass. This place is beautiful and decorated with elegance. I go to Vegas often and it has that same amazing vibe. We has always had great service from all our servers and even Fallon came to visit and sit with us she's such a doll! Love the tequila cart! What an amazing idea! If you see it you must try a shot of your choice. Ours is Don Julio 42. We always recommend! Pretty place Pretty pricey Pretty food Pretty underwhelming Dosalas is all kinds of pretty, but the ho hum dishes and cool cocktails were offset by tangible negatives in service and value. The hostess experience created a "bad taste in my mouth" even before the food. Here's why... Within 10 minutes of arriving for our reservation, we were led to an upstairs patio seat next to a busy door. We asked (politely, I think) if we could sit at one of the two empty tables with frontline views of the Columbia River. She looked at the seats, looked at us, and said "no." We asked again, she said, Those tables are for groups of "four" which, okay, that makes sense ... except within minutes, both tables had non-mixed, white-only couples (of just 2) sitting at them. It had hints of similar microaggressions my wife is experiencing more & more these days. As for the real taste of Dosalas dishes, well, it was all over the place in quality despite most of it being beautiful. Treated my wife and our daughter to their birthday dinner. It was the first time at Dos Alas and had waited for a special occasion to go. There were six of us and Allison was our server. All I can say is WOW! Great food, excellent service by Allison, and Dos Alas has a real awesome vibe to it! If you are a tequila aficionado like I am you'll enjoy the tequila cart service that was available the night we were there. I had my DJ 1942 and in addition I tried, for the first time, Cincoro Anejo which I really enjoyed. One of their signature drinks is their Beautiful Pear Basil which many at the tabled ordered. Per some of my family members, they claim it to be one of the best drinks they ever had. The food---the Tomahawk Steak, the Ancho-Rubbed Salmon to the Ceviche, everything we ordered was off the chart. We can't wait to go back again! I experienced this place for the first time on a Sunday early evening. I had my eye on going for some time. The decor is beautiful and gives a more upscale club vibe. The music was LOUD, too loud for the number of people in the restaurant. My friend and I sat across from one another and had to lean in to be heard. The people sitting behind us had the same issue. It wasn't exactly what we were wanting but we soldiered through to try the food. Overall, the service staff were friendly and helpful. I was a bit annoyed that our original server abandoned us for the outside seating area on the other side of the restaurant. We were not told of this change, we were not introduced to a different server to help us, so all we were aware of was the fact we didn't get any real service after receiving the appetizers. I could see her at the bar but was not able to get her attention. We wanted to order more than water for drinks and some dinner. I had to flag down a different wait staff to find our server a couple of times. We were in the "club" a lot longer than anticipated due to this unfortunate hiccup. I ordered the chimichurri pork chop for dinner. It was divine and the appetizers were wonderful. When I ordered I was not told that this specific meal would take a bit longer to cook than normal due to the cut of the meat. I ended up having to flag down another wait staff to find out when my dinner would arrive or to find our waiter. It was when this person brought my food to the table it was revealed to me that the wait was normal. I leave a four star but was tempted to leave a three-star based on the service. The food is wonderful and what influenced me to the four star was the other servers that were flagged down were just as helpful and friendly as our original server. They graciously either found our server or went to get our requests. The fact they did not seem perturbed at having to help when we were clearly not their table was what saved the star. We usually go in to Portland for our anniversary and now I know why. I can't believe this was my first time at Dosalas, but it was worth the wait! One of the best restaurants in the Pacific Northwest! From the moment I walked in I felt transported to LA or NYC! I had the margarita sampler and it was the perfect choice. I had the opportunity to try four great drinks. The passion fruit was my favorite, but all were really tasty...pretty too! The food was fantastic! We had a group of four and ordered multiple items to share for the table. The guacamole trio was good. I was not a huge fan of the mango-habanero guacamole, but I don't love mango. It was my husbands favorite though. We also got the crab toast and empanadas. The small plates were wonderful! For dinner we got the branzino. It is important to note that you get two full fish...face and all. I was a bit surprised and don't typically like to look at what I am eating, but once I got past the appearance it was great! The mashed potatoes were made from sweet potatoes so that was different, but again good. We finished the night with dessert. We tried the chocolate torte and cheesecake...AMAZING!!! I would go here just for dessert it was so good!!! Five stars across the board for food! Overall the place was great and we will be back. A few suggestions for improvement... - Our reservations were at 8pm and the restaurant ran out of multiple items before we the chance to order. We set up a reservation for the evening and it was such a fantastic dinner. The place was packed and the music had great energy. Ambience and aesthetics are very appealing. I love the entrance to the dining room as it fits with the whole design of the restaurant. I definitely admired the work and vision. I ordered the lamb and it was cooked to perfection. I absolutely loved it as it was succulent and tender. The garnish that paired with it was on point and delicious. Everything else was great as well. The staff was excellent and the service was great. We have had the pleasure of dining at some of the areas best restaurants. Thinking we had to change things up a bit and find some place new for us, my wife chose Dosalas. I am so happy she did. I was in the mood for a Tomahawk steak and my spouse agreed to share it with me as their steak is a two person endeavor. It was by far, the finest Tomahawk steak I have ever had, bar none. Tender, juicy, lean to perfection, perfectly cooked. So as not to forget, we also enjoyed the Paruvian salad and the tuna tostadas. We will be dining here again soon. I am revising this based on the response I got from my first, generous review. Frankly the reply was a bit insulting and I have gone back to read it several times before deciding to write this. I have lived in multiple major cities (Chicago, LA, Seattle, San Diego) and have traveled the world. I have dined at Top 50 rated World restaurants in Lima, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore and NYC, London, Toronto, San Francisco and Paris. I don't always review places in other countries when I travel, but you will find a few in my account. I think I know what "elevated" means. Their spirits collection is "okay" but hardly exceptional and certainly not for the prices charged. I am a collector of high-end tequila and mezcal, most of which I purchased in Oaxaca and Jalisco. The Blanco Tequila used in a Margarita is not what I consider to be elevated unless it's a Cristaleno and using a high-end Cristalino in a margarita would be a waste. They are meant for sipping. $17 for a margarita is excessive unless in Manhattan I want this restaurant to do well but if the attitude, prices and food quality don't improve, I will spend my money at the modest place in Vancouver that has a very elevated Mezcal offering, reasonable prices and delicious street tacos. I have a view of the river from my apartment so that is not a driver for me. Ownership here should school the person that replied to my original review that honestly gave them the benefit of the doubt. read more

My fiance took me here for a surprise dinner :) Overall, we thought food was good and the drinks had enough alcohol in them for the prices they charged. Most places cocktails I've tried just tasted like flavored ice water. We really liked the clams and mussels pot. It is on a spicy side so if you love spicy food like me I highly recommend it. The sauce was a little salty though but with the bread dipping in, it was good. The short ribs sopes was actually pretty good. The bread was crunchy enough but still soft . The meat was blending well with the little guacamole on top. Also recommend this dish. Empanadas and guacamole trio were also good. I like the spicy pineapple guacamole it was so good. The chips were also different it was just regular chips, we felt like that was different and good to go with the guacamole. Customer service was also great. To be honest I've read the negative reviews here over the summer and I was skeptical to take my fiance here for his birthday dinner. But actually after this visit, I didn't think the food was bad. Yes everything on a pricey side but you have to understand the factor it's located right at Vancouver waterfront. The lab was under seasoned and though was cooked medium rare you couldn't tell the difference between the cooked and rare parts of the lamb, which means the racks were not fresh. A newer spot located on the waterfront of downtown Vancouver. The interior was very well designed and gave a good ambiance and feel. The service of our waitress was pretty good and attentive. One of the cons include being led to our table only to find out it was not cleared yet. We had to stand there for awhile waiting for it to be cleared up and being looked at by the people around us. The drinks have some creative names to them, but not sure if the base of the alcohol warrants the pricing. The tapas were decent to share, with the pork belly skewers being the best. Tried the Sunday twice and neither times did it come with the promised "gold dust" it's just regular ice cream...if you love ice cream & are happy to spend $12 for a cup of vanilla go for it. Service 3/5 you either get an extremely polite awesome server (there's only a handful of them) or you get a complete B**. I had server jump at me so quick for the way I was using my knife & fork for cutting my food. She immediately tried to correct me and told me to use the provided spoon in a snarky voice, I was so startled I dropped my bread of the plate. What's it to you how guests eat their food? If you have any food allergies or disease, do not come here. You'll be poisoned (they don't actually check with the chef when you ask about an ingredient) and then treated like a burden. I won't get into details what happened to my poor sister. Overall they are trying way to hard to be cool. I spent my birthday here and then brought my friends here twice. I was embarrassed with how it went. My sister spent her anniversary her and birthday as well and we all experienced the same things.... Small but good. Coco Chanel was delicious but I wish I had more; it was a wine glass filled only halfway and with ice. I would like it better if there wasn't any ice. We also had the Paloma and the Guava lavender. Both delicious! The food was not as good as it looks and for the price. The Mexican corn was quite salty, the pork belly tasted like just that...pork. The roasted chicken was fine but I could make better at home. The melted provolone tasted like the cheese on a pizza and was too thick and oily. The Empanadas....I liked the bread but the short rib inside had a funky taste. We couldn't put our finger on it. The tempura cauliflower and guacamole were super good!! Also, I get that it's a new place and they want to be available to all customers but our waiter made us seem like we were taking too long and made us feel like he had to keep moving along. This restaurant will have you feeling like you are in another city. The decor and service is great and unlike anything else I've seen in the area. There is a WIDE collection of drinks and the atmosphere is so fun. However, do not expect a hearty meal. There are limited food options and they are not very filling at all.
