This place was great, but not that great. I really enjoyed the fish n chips, and that was good, but my parents didn't really like the chili for some reason. I don't recall them saying one. I loved this place a lot, while my parents didn't. Maybe I hope that they'll improve on this place more when the time comes along, by improving the quality of their chili and the other products. So I have driven by Dot's forever. I stopped in the other day for lunch. Very warmly greeted. I ordered Chili, and a hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes. Unbelievable! Two thick (1/4"+) slices of homemade turkey. Gravy ws just like my mothers. A great tasting great value lunch. But what really makes this place are the woman behind the counter. They were pleasant, funny and engaging. They seem to get along very well together. It was a memorable lunch. I shall make time to stop more often. This is a must try! read more

The Berry Berry pancakes are some of the best pancakes around! They were absolutely loaded with fruit - lots of blackberries and raspberries. The pancake itself was cooked perfectly - soft and fluffy inside with a slight crispness on the outside. The Cajun skillet was also very good - full of great Cajun spices. read more

Worth the wait! There is often a line on the weekends, but it moves fast and the food is home cooked goodness. They have tasty iced coffee year round (which many places only do seasonally) and the daily selection of muffins is always a solid choice. The staff are friendly and willing to suggest local things to do. The service is lightning fast even when the place is full. The portions are big and the prices are affordable. Great little diner. We stopped for lunch while passing through town. Parking was a bit of a hassle, but the food was worth it. I had a cup of their "award winning" chili, which was very flavorful and spicy. I also had their jalapeño corn muffin, which paired nicely with the chili. I unfortunately don't even think I can rate this establishment due to the fact we weren't able to enjoy a FULL dining experience here. My dear friends and I made the trip up to VT to celebrate our good friends, yes plural, birthdays. We of course wanted to come into town to get a good bite to eat on our last night here. We stepped into Dot's Restaurant hoping for a saving grace with how hungry we all were. We were a larger party (of 13), and had to take separate cars to get to the destination. Since as you can imagine, we didn't rent a school bus to get us around town. As we entered Dot's we let the woman know (short black hair, yoga pants with a print at the top) that we were a party of 13. She came back and said, "well are you "like" a party of 13, or a party of 13", in probably the most condescending tone I've heard in a long time. She then began counting off the guests who arrived, out loud, while her hand was on her hip, as if we were inconveniencing her. She said she could only seat our party that was there at the present time, which was 8. Again, everyone was driving and finding parking. She begins to huff and puff as if she's blowing the place down as she gathers extra chairs and attempts to partially accommodate our party. As we go into the back, we're trying to figure out how our other friends will be able to sit with us based on how the table was set up. The waitress then piped in to our conversation saying she can only seat the people who are present (in a particularly aggressive and agitated tone). At that point she said that her last table is in the back, and she's not seating people there. I had asked if this was an inconvenience we could take our business elsewhere. She then added that it wasn't an inconvenience for her, it would be an inconvenience for us. How delightful. I don't think I've ever come across someone who has been that unprofessional, and quiet honestly, agest. We understand that you may be wrapping up your shift, but you would've made some good money. A party of 13?! Who turns that down. It was such a shame because the food smelt absolutely amazing. read more

we were on vacation last week, on our way back we were riding down hwy 9 across Vermont looking for a place to have breakfast when I spotted dots and we stopped. When we went in I jokingly Said I hear this in the best place in the country for breakfast, and was told it is, so we had breakfast there AND I AGREE IT WAS GREAT, THE BEST BISCUITS AND GRAVY I EVER HAD!!! Chilli and cheese omelet, delicious, and flavorful. The cheese stretches out nicely, and it's so fresh. Their bread is HOME MADE. Which makes such a difference. I suspect their butter may be local as well, the bread tasted phenomenal. We also got the sausage cajun skillet, the cheese on the eggs were a perfect touch. I will definitely be back here during snowboarding season! This place was recommended by the employees at the local deli - that goes to show they know best! Parking is limited out back though, with a one lane entry/exit way so if it's busy, probably park somewhere nearby to avoid being stuck in the parking lot. read more

Stopped in here on our way home after a ski trip to Mount Snow. Atmosphere is super comfortable and the staff is super friendly. We were the only ones in there around 7pm and the woman working there was eager to talk to us about our day. The menu is huge so there's something for everyone, they even let us order off the lunch menu although it was dinner time. I got the meatloaf that came with their famous chili, mashed potatoes and some veggies that had a ton of flavor. The meatloaf was definitely reheated but that should've been expected of something like that. Regardless, the meatloaf was delicious and was the perfect meal after a long day of skiing. If you're in the area, definitely give this place a try. I'll be back soon. read more

One star is generous for the worst meal of my entire life. The menu states many awards for various years for the chili. It was like creamy poop with random bits of items that could not be identified. The chicken fingers were so bad that 2 kids wouldn't eat them. The waitress asked us 3 times if we wanted a box to take them home. That is how much was still left on the plates. The inedible food could only be topped by the weirdest and slowest service I have personally witnessed in the last 20 years. I will never go to Dot's again. I'd call this a small diner... it has a bar with stools, old skool... we got a table right away and our server was on it. She wasn't over bearing, but was able to anticipate our pace which I like. I ordered a burger medium rare. It had one spot of pink in it, maybe she wrote down medium well... but it still tasted GREAT. It was juicy galore and had a killer char flavor. The red onion was sliced thin, which i also liked. the b.f. had a veggie burger and it was larger than the bun which is not the norm in our experience. He said it was great. They served chips with the burgers and they aren't the homemade chips but are Ruffles Brand. You can add fries or onion rings for $1.50 more. Overall I liked this place for what it is. And the prices were OK. $5.95 for my burger and $6.50 for the veggie. Had I read Yelp first I would have tried the chili... oh well, guess we will have to go back sometime. read more

Dots is back! After nearly getting swept into the river during the hurricane, they came back, rebuilt and the result is great! The "new" Dots is beautiful inside and you can now sit at tables overlooking the river, which is really nice addition. The servers are friendly as always, the owner is always there which is good as well. The food is the same menu as before, chili is great, love the grilled cheese, you really can't go wrong with any of the menu options. Dots is a real mainstay of the Deerfield Valley and I am thrilled that they reopened in the face of overwhelming adversity. Way to go DOTS! read more

We were visiting Vermont to see the Fall Foliage this past weekend, we found this restaurant on Route 9 just a mile away from Hogback mountain scenic view point. The staff is very friendly had good knowledge of the food items and were very honest. Food was amazing, we tried the 10 ounce sirloin, The swordfish, french onion soup, fish n chips, the Alfredo chicken pasta, and our kids had Hot dogs. All these dishes were amazing, they have very quick service this place looks like a mom and pop run place but is very professionally managed, one thing to worry about is the parking ( I am not so much concerned though) is limited, but the staff are happy to point you to a close by parking area walking distance away. Overall great experience, hoping I will go there again if I get a chance. read more

Its a high class diner frequented by locals, who know good food served up by a friendly waitstaff, and visitors from around the country, drawn in by Dot's acclaimed reputation which has graced the pages of some of the most impressive newspapers and magazines the country has to offer. I follow the philosophy of not saying anything unless it's something nice, but I have moments where I need to express experiences that can be informative. I went to Dot's today with a group of 4. We didn't mind the wait of 30 mins, & thought the free coffee outside on the porch was a lovely gesture. We were seated at the counter, & I chose the end of the counter right next to the waiting patrons. We were greeted promptly, & ordered promptly. I loved the menu, & ordered the berry pancakes & a side of scrambled eggs. My seating spot wasn't ideal, & when a space opened up on the other side of the counter, I kindly asked the hostess (who seemed to be one of the owners as well, not sure...) if I could move over a seat after it's cleared, she rush answered me in a very nasty tone that "I'm going to have to ask my waitress." For a small town diner, I found her incredibly rude-the first time I've ever had that experience in VT. When my pancakes came out, they were pretty much raw. I sent them back, but they took so long to give me a replacement. At that point, my friends were done eating, & I just asked them to go. And of course, we were charged for it. So...my friends seemed to like their food. My eggs were fine. But the service left me wanting. I won't be back, because I'm sure there are other options nearby with friendlier service, & fully cooked pancakes. read more

No frills diner with quick, to-the-point waitstaff and speedy service. We sat down with a party of six kids (that's right, SIX), and five adults. They accommodated us within 10 minutes, joining two tables together during a busy Memorial Day weekend. Our waitress took our order with military precision, and the food was out within ten minutes. We had to literally fight-off the aggressive coffee-refill routine :-) If you're looking for fancy food, in a fancy setting, with a fancy service, look elsewhere. Dot's never disappoints! The berry-berry pancakes are amazing, especially when dripping with real VT maple syrup. The omelettes are huge and delicious. Bacon, sausage (links or patties!), etc- all yummy! A variety of tea is available and now they have a chai latte, as well. Then there are the breakfast cocktails; mimosas and bloody marys, to complete the feast. A Wilmington institution that deserves it's recognition, we're very happy Dot's triumphed over Irene!! read more

This was my second trip to Dot's and it will probably be my last. They serve standard diner fare, and the servers are friendly, but the floor didn't look like it had been swept all day. My grilled cheese was fine, and the club sandwich looked tasty. If it was clean, I'd give it another chance. read more
