    Steak frites. Very tasty

We were so excited for this experience. The service was very good! Our waitress was absolutely wonderful. She was attentive and knowledgeable and very easy going. The Ambience is nice albiete a wee bit on the stuffy side. To be fair, I'm not a huge fan of steakhouses. They serve the most delicious popover I've ever had. Scrumptious, Devine, delicate. The food was good. It's expensive and we knew that so it was fine. We had been dying to try it. I think we would go back and try it again. We were not overjoyed but it was a nice experience. Maybe we will try the brunch.

You may think you're in for a fine dining experience, but you're not. Skip this spot and find another restaurant to support. First of all, they make it seem exclusive and aggressively fancy on their website. Very focused on a dress code and even stating that they have loaner shirts. There is even a warning on their site and when you arrive stating that blue jeans are frowned upon. However when we arrived there were people in jeans, sweatshirts, doc martens, etc. Kinda surprising. The staff seemed nice but they were incredibly slow and inattentive. We arrived at 6:30 for our reservation and weren't served dinner until 8. The drinks took painfully long to be served -- even coors lite from a can. They don't have ANY beer on tap. We had to ask for drinks about 6 times or more before they would arrive. The bread service featured burnt popover style rolls and cornbread. The cornbread was pretty good but the waiter took both plates away before our group could finish them. The smoked salmon appetizer was pretty good, but the fried calamari had zero flavor besides oil and definitely didn't seem fresh. For my main I had the Kurobuta pork. For such a prized type of pork, the chefs absolutely destroyed it. All I could taste was the extremely, EXTREMELY salty sauce on the stir fried vegetables. The veggies weren't fresh and were pretty inedible due to the saltiness. I couldn't believe the sloppy presentation either. Beyond disappointed by Double Barrel. Will not be returning. Such a waste to spend so much money on this experience and food.

This is one of the best meals we have had in RI! We went on a Wednesday night for the prix fixe date night meal deal and were really impressed by all of the appetizers, entrees and desserts. The service was spectacular as well - so accommodating and friendly, very professional as well. Everything you would expect from a luxury resort. We will definitely be back!

Braised beef short rib with whipped mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus.

Our first and definitely not our last dining experience at this venue. From the start booking the reservation online was a breeze. The confirmation and calendar coordination was a nice touch. During the reservation process I was able to select "Date Night" as one of the available descriptions for the reservation for two. Upon arrival my wife and I were greeted by a very polite and professional receptionist that quickly got us seated. For a Saturday evening I expected it to be bustling, but it wasn't. It didn't seem dead, it just seemed very "available". That was comforting. From the start it was easy to see that no minor detail of the entire evening was not very well thought out and prepared for by the staff. Although many other smaller tables were available with two chairs, we were seated to a large round table for 4+ with a half-moon booth enveloping the large , thick, solid black walnut table with giant maple contrasting inlay of The Preserve's logo in the middle. As a fine woodworker I took note of the quality and craftsmanship of the tables. That's not common but certainly noticed and appreciated! My wife and I commented that the seating was well thought out and the location of the table in the restaurant was ideal as well. It made us feel special with a sort of "Lady & The Tramp" romanticism to it, perfect for a date night! Overall each member of the wait staff was exceptional. From our waitress, to our server, and even the bar tender that prepared our drinks table side. Polite, professional, courteous and warm, without being overbearing at all. I had one of their drink specials, a toasted marshmallow espresso martini that did not disappoint at all. With that being my favorite drink I've made it a point to try many of them when I can and this was one of the top two I've ever had in my life. Like a Lay's potato chip, you can't have just one! My wife and I shared an order of the truffle fries before our meal. To be honest I fully expected them to be overpriced French fries with a hint of truffle flavor added somehow. I couldn't have been more incorrect. To start, the fries were cooked perfectly, which is something so uncommon that you don't realize it until you're having fries that are cooked perfectly. After all, they're just fries, right? Wrong! These were the best fries ever and were incredibly delicious by themselves without any condiments needed. Oh, and they weren't skimpy with the truffle either! Absolutely delicious! For dinner I had the braised boneless beef short ribs with whipped mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. The asparagus and potatoes were exquisite themselves, but that beef short rib was out of this world. It would be unfair to serve that to someone that has never had short rib before as any short rib they have thereafter would be a letdown. From start to finish there wasn't a single aspect of the entire evening and experience that I could find something to complain about. My wife and I were not only delighted and impressed, but already looking forward to returning the next time and we hadn't even paid our bill yet. We will be back, hopefully sooner than later!

This review is based on a lunch time Sunday visit with what I would call the B squad staffing. After a much anticipated visit to double barrel steak house our experience was less than average. I've frequented other David Burke properties in nyc and ct and have never had such a meh experience. While the food was cooked to perfection and was as fresh as can be, our experience was an extreme let down. Underwhelming at best. I must note that it was summer time and I am hoping it was temporary staffing due to staffing issues that have plagued the country. The ambience was eclectic per usual with any David Burke property. This establishment is located on quite a facility to begin with, but just a tad a snuffy.(you'll see what I mean if you visit) The Preserves in RI formally owned by the ocean house is out of this world but you can feel like your slightly out of place if your not a member. That said I would love to attend a golf tournament or skeet shooting event with the boys!!! Ok back to why I'm here...When you're planning splurge on a fancy dining experience such as this, you expect top notch service and NOT wearing your meal due to staff incompetence. In conclusion you will always get a good meal at David Burke's, but if they don't get a solid consistent staff, this may turn out to be a lemon. Good luck!! I hope to see you on Yelp and giving the best review ever!! Cheers

All I can say is WOW about this place. It used to be a members place and is now open to the public. From the time you drive into the property you do not feel like you are in Rhode Island. It's like going on a destination without leaving your state. Now onto the restaurant review. We stopped in to just see what was on the menu so we could come another day. While looking at the menu Justin the GM came over and said please stay - why wait for another day. So we stayed for an appetizer and so glad we did. We had the Clothesline Bacon which they do a show at your table for presentation. Hands down some of the best bacon we have had. My husband had an old fashioned to drink. It was brought to us in a smoking box. Presentation for that was great also. Can't wait to come back and try brunch and dinner. Come say hi to Justin and tell him you saw the review on Yelp.

My husband and I had our introduction to Chillingham's Westerly on Saturday, August 22, 2026. This…read morewas our first trip to Westerly to dine at this steak house, keeping in mind that we're in CT around the Navy Base so we aren't very familiar with the Westerly downtown footprint. Upon entering Chillingham's we were immediately greeted by a smiling, happy to help face. The entry way was clean and didn't feel as if it was closed in, hard to access, and it didn't feel as if I was an interruption to other customers enjoying their meal. The atmosphere was easy to slip into and felt highly comfortable, especially for an upscale steak house. Accessibility is a hard feat for Chillingham's. In the Westerly downtown area, they are tucked in behind the main strip, and their access area is a hidden drive beside a secured parking lot. Once we had located Chillingham's, which wasn't an easy task, signage is well marked from the RI direction but not from the CT direction. By "well marked" I mean the restaurant is struggling with city ordinances for signs and other businesses not sharing their buildings for directional signage. The parking lot is quite small and hard to maneuver in. We ended up parking on the main street and walking down. This was not unenjoyable at all and would have been even more pleasant had it not been sprinkling. The downward street to their building is not well lit, again, not belonging to them, Chillingham's is hard pressed to fix this. The entrance to the building was clean, easy to enter, and well kept. The online reservations made it very clear that there was an upper seating area where steps would be essential or a downstairs area. This is an excellent way to prepare diners and allow them to customize their experience at Chillingham's. While the stairway was open and spacious, there was a significant amount of grease on the stairs. This not only is a significant fall risk for diners but must impact the Chillingham's staff as well. Understand that the upstairs area is beautiful and spacious and has a wonderful at home feeling. However, with restrooms located downstairs and staff using the stairs for food transportation, greasy stairs are just not safe. During the visit, we opted to sit upstairs. The music level and noise levels were excellent for an enjoyable dining experience. There is plenty of room between and around tables ensuring a private, comfortable meal with plenty of room for staff and patrons to maneuver without causing any interruption to meals. Lighting is on point throughout the restaurant. Intimate and cozy while being bright enough to see clearly. The meal was amazing. I have not had a steak cooked to that perfection since my father passed away many years ago. The sauce on the steak was pure perfection. My husband enjoyed the prime rib and has nothing but excellence to say. Without using the word excellent 17 times in a row, I'm not sure how well to express the quality of the food served. Taste was divine and there was no question as to if the food was locally sourced. You can taste the freshness. Our waiter did a fantastic job ensuring we had a wonderful meal. He was very familiar with the menu; in fact he described the special so well I was ready to skip the appetizer and have the main course immediately. His demeanor was positive and proactive; he knew when to make small talk and when to make the exit. He repeated the order back for confirmation and upsold both the special and dessert, making his job done perfectly. We didn't feel rushed or ignored at any point of the visit. The menu was easy to read, understand, and portion sizes and prices were clearly displayed. Allergen information was clear on the menu as well. Overall, our visit to Chilllingham's was very enjoyable and we can't wait to visit again. I give 9 of 10 stars, only loosing the last star for the difficulty in locating the restaurant.

Unfortunately, our experience at Chillingham's Steak was pretty disappointing, especially…read moreconsidering our bill was $307.80 for a party of 5. The biggest issue was the 8-oz filet, which cost $58. It was extremely charred--so much that I had to remove a significant amount of the char just to be able to eat it. For a $58 filet, I expected much better. The drinks were also disappointing. 3 out of the 4 we ordered did not come with a garnish, which made the presentation feel pretty lackluster. The $12 Seedlip mocktail was especially disappointing. It genuinely tasted like water with almost no flavor. For a $12 drink, I expected considerably more. All drinks were served with boba straws. They were also out of many items we wanted, which made ordering frustrating. By 7:30 they were out of the wedge salad, baked potatoes, baked stuffed shrimp and the pork chop described on the menu. The service started okay, but went downhill during the meal. Once our food was served, she never asked if we wanted another round of drinks, it felt like we were basically forgotten. After she dropped off boxes, it took another 20 minutes just to get our bill. We were sitting upstairs surrounded by multiple unbused tables, which definitely didn't help the overall atmosphere. The area was also fairly loud. There were 5 people in our party, with two people splitting one steak, and the bill was ultimately split three ways. We were also charged a $10 split plate fee, which was another thing that didn't feel great given the overall experience. I will say the service wasn't terrible the entire time, and the restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere, but there were just too many little issues throughout the meal. Between the over-charred $58 filet, flavorless $12 mocktail, missing garnishes, unavailable menu items, dirty tables, and the long wait for the check, I expected a lot more for what we paid. Overall: 1/5. I wouldn't be in a rush to return.

Eggplant was thinly sliced and crispy. My father ordered a baked stuffed quahog, and a Greek salad. He wasn't happy with either & thought the salad dressing came straight from a bottle. He did have New England clam chowder (not homemade, Snows) which he did like. Mom ordered an eggplant grinder that was good, but needed more sauce. The atmosphere was a family run Italian restaurant kind of vibe. There was a dessert counter with desserts that looked bakery made. Based on the delicious smell of the place, my guess is that the pizza and grinders are probably very good too. I think perhaps my father just ordered the wrong things? I'm not willing to rate this place less than 3 because the eggplant parm and the service were so good. I bet if we gave them another try and stuck w Italian entrees we would have been a lot happier.

We drove up to the building and there really is nothing special about it, very few windows and some over grown trees in the parking lot. I didn't have high hopes. When entering into the restaurant the appearance of the bar and dining area was actually decent. Wood floors, wooden tables and a nice atmosphere at the bar. There was a bit of a cleaning supply/bar smell when you first walk in. Again I wasn't expecting much. The kids ordered a small Caesar salad and pasta with butter as their main dish. My husband and I both ordered the marinated grilled chicken with vegetables and potato. A fresh hot loaf of bread with butter was placed on the table right away. It was definitely out of the oven hot and delicious. The kids devoured most of it and we ordered a second one. The waitress, Grace was very attentive and ensured we had everything we needed for the table. I have to say the service was excellent as expressed on other reviews. Definitely a plus with kids! Our kids devoured the Caesar salad. It had fresh lettuce, shredded cheese, croutons and well mixed in dressing. They loved it! When our main dishes arrived, it looked promising, two pieces of nicely grilled chicken on the dish. When I tasted it, I was impressed! It was delicious! Perfectly grilled, not rubbery, and very tasty. The meal came with a side sauce of our liking. I chose the lemon butter on recommendation of the waitress. Perfectly paired! The kids pasta and butter was buccatini and was nice and hot, with a side of potato chip fries. Very good and very unique. They ate it all! Overall, ChopHouse Grille exceeded my expectations. While it isn't on the same level as a special occasion restaurant like the Coast Guard House, it offers solid food, excellent service, and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. We never felt out of place dining with our kids, and the staff made the experience easy and enjoyable. I would definitely return to try one of their steaks next time. If you're looking for a comfortable spot for a family dinner with consistently good food and service, I'd happily recommend giving it a try.

Their dessert bar has so many different offerings that it wasn't easy to decide on what I wanted but I ended up picking a slice of carrot cake along with a brownie plus a dollop of whipped cream to add to the brownie. One of the things I like about their dessert bar is that the servers there give you the option of only getting a half slice of their cakes which is great because that way you're saving room to try even more of their options instead of getting too full from just one thing. Amazing food, amazing view, great cocktails and even better hospitality. Can't wait to come back.
