I have been taking my 7 month old Jindo, Thomas to Double Dog Dare Ya for dog day care the past few weeks. He, and I love everything about it. To me, the big differentiators are: 1) the Staff. They are tremendous. Always excited to see Thomas. He's always excited to see them. When I come to pick him up, even if I don't know the person working, they always know that I'm there for Thomas. 2. It is clean. I mean remarkably clean. I've walked into the reception area for some, and it smells like the place is covered in urine, and yes, i know, dogs have accidents. I really wanted our Double Dog to work out. but, when I picked my elderly Maltese up she had obviously not felt comfortable in this environment. I watched her several times on the camera throughout the day and she seemed fine. Her overnight experience was obviously not acceptable. She had injuries to both front paws that required immediate attention upon pickup. She had to wear a cone for over two weeks after her visit. It ended up costing me a small fortune. I messaged the company and sent pictures. Never heard a word. Not impressed. Will not recommend or return. To anyone considering this facility -rethink your decision. read more

I can't say enough good things about these guys. First, they did a great job grooming my schnauzer! Best cut he's ever had. And he didn't come home and hide or seem scared. He was actually happy. Their day care is great as well and my dog had a lot of fun, and they even sent me a video of him playing with another dog and happy as can be. I feel they go the extra mile. I've never felt uncomfortable leaving my fur baby with this group of amazing dog sitters/trainers/groomers. Their cameras are always on and don't pixelate and show snap shots or slow moving video. It's a great set up. You can always see what your four legged love is doing and if there is ever concern or question they immediately address. I have a pit mastiff who is two years old and goes there almost everyday. He is socialized so well and I literally have no concerns when I walk down the street with him regardless of people's reactions because he has been socialized correctly and respectfully. He mainly does daycare but I've also boarded. Both great. I just don't board him because of personal preference. I've gotten to know all the dogs there, their names, owners and personalities. Our neighbors and friends take their dogs, we email each other and laugh about what the dogs are doing on the camera and I always feel like this is another family. By they way, they have package deals if you work at studio. I'm not sure of parameters but it's great because comparitively speaking, they are really affordable for the amount of time they have the dogs. Only complaint, my dog is jealous of the dogs that go in the pool because he just sinks and can't swim. Not Double's fault but he has a real issue with the retrievers. (HaHa) read more

Great place for boarding. My Maltese has been going here since he was a puppy, he's now 14 years old. This place really takes care of him. There's a separate place for big dogs and small dogs. They aren't crammed into a cage the whole day. They get to play and move around. The facility has web cams to check in on your pet. I first found Double Dog Dare Ya in September while looking for a place to board my puppy Tiny who has a heart condition and anxiety. They called me to confirm and I felt comfortable that this was the best place to bring her. I loved being able to check on my puppy via the live cameras especially the first trip and now I bring Tiny for day care/boarding as needed! Chyanne made both Tiny and I comfortable from the start. She has been so patient and kind with Tiny. Great communication, positive friendly staff, and not only is Tiny happy when I pick her up but she's excited to go back every time!! Huge improvement on my previous groomer and boarding company! I used to think dog grooming salons were places that were loud, where dogs ran wild and that generally smelled but DDDY is the antithesis of this characterization. DDDY took my senior dog in and not only gave him a very good cut that will last awhile, but I could tell they run a great operation. The owner was very friendly and the staff were all ready to make sure my old guy felt comfortable and safe. You can tell they're busy, but why shouldnt they be? They run a great outfit and you can tell they care about the dogs. Every thing was very clean, well lit, smelled nice and most importantly my dog wasn't traumatized when he was all done. My dog sherbert has separation anxiety. She had gone to another local daycare but never really settled in there. Decided to try double dog and im so happy i did. The staff there is amazing as is the facility. Tony P was an absolute wonder on sherberts first day. Explained how they operated and was great with sherbert who can be slow to warm up to people. Sherbert is MUCH more calm when i leave her with tony and double dog staff than ever before and not terrified when she gets dropped off like before. Really cant say enough good things about this place. The live video cameras also keep me relaxed as i can check in and see aherbert running around with the other dogs. Double Dog Dare Ya is simply the best. My husband and I have been using DDDY for our "kids" boarding and bathing needs for over five years and we recommend them constantly to all of our friends. Patrick and the staff are true dog lovers and they get to know each and every dog. Believe me, we are worriers when it comes to our dogs, but we have never had a reason to worry when our dogs are in DD's care. Every little thing our dogs (and us) have ever needed has always been taken care of, whether it was extra special attention for our senior dog, special medication requests, or just 3 to 4 phone calls per day from us "checking in". I have so many wonderful stories I could share with you about how Patrick and his staff have made a difference in our lives over the years - it could fill 10 pages at least. The one thing at the top of the list is how Patrick's words of wisdom helped us cope with the passing of our beloved Shepherd Sammy last September. Anyone who has ever been faced with the agonizing decision of euthanizing a pet knows the pain involved in such a decision. In the end we found out that Sammy had lung cancer, and Patrick was the one person who was able to say just the right thing to put our minds and hearts at ease. Believe me, many friends and neighbors were there for us, but Patrick had REALLY gotten to know Sammy over the years and he had also REALLY understood our relationship with her. Okay - one other story. Patrick volunteered to help the animals affected by hurricane Katrina. He actually went to New Orleans and rescued animals. He is the only person I personally know who did this. He told me that the things he witnessed and experienced there changed his life. I couldn't even watch the events on TV. Patrick (and his staff) are truly dedicated to the welfare of animals. read more

I had my little Maltese stay at this location for a week. He is an older dog and does not interact with other dogs often. After a week of stay and nice hair cut my dog seemed very happy and healthy. My first reaction of the staff members there is that they are very receptive to special instructions and are very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place. read more

My dogs home away from home! I was introduced to DDDY by a friend/colleague. She takes her dog there and had great things to say. She was right! A great location--tucked away, private but accessible. Most importantly, a friendly and caring staff. Not only do I drop my dog there for day care but I also board him there as well. The webcams allow me to look in on them any time during operation hours, which is comforting. Double Dog Dare Ya. The name at first may sound like a doggie drug-induced birth mishap, however there isn't any dysfunction here. Being a neurotic dog lover, this is the only place where I will leave my overly-protected, obsessively loved pups. I evaluated several boarding facilities in the area. When asking the question, "do all of your dogs have their shots," I was often told, "oh, we don't believe in dogs being given too many medicines." Well, don't be a dunce and leave your inoculation papers at home at Double Dog, you will not be able to leave your dog there that day. Patrick, the owner, is also a neurotic dog lover. I have left my dogs there for day care, as well as for lengthy trips. If there is ever the slightest problem, like the beginning of an eye infection in my Yorkie, which Yorkie's get frequently, Patrick will call me immediately wherever I may be to let me know and he is always open to any suggestions that I may offer. He is consistently on top of the game. It is great to be able to watch my dogs on the web cam when I am away. Watching them playing and having fun helps me to not feel like a rat for leaving them. The large dogs are always kept separately from the small dogs. This is soothing because it keeps me from worrying about Killer eating my dog's face. I have never used the grooming service and yet my dogs always come home smelling as good as they did when I left them off, even if it was a week ago. The place is as clean as an anal retentive's (expletive)! This is unusual since often dogs come home from a boarding facility smelling like, "it was some party." Leaving my dogs with Patrick is like leaving them with a close friend where you already have confidence in his love for your pets. I don't know what I would do without him. He should be a role model for Match.com. You have to be sure they have their shots too....... read more

We've been sending our now 10-year old Lab/Dalmatian mix to DDDY for the last 6 or 7 years, and our 5 year old pug her entire life. When we go out of town, it's a relief to know that our two dog kids are being very well cared for. In fact, our older dog can be a bit fussy at times, but he loves DDDY. We also get our dogs groomed there by Patrick, and he does a great job! Sure, we've considered other options that are less expensive, but at the end of the day, it's worth the extra dollars knowing that my dogs are happy, safe and comfortable. We have been bringing our dog here for almost a year. We drop her off for vacation stays and day visits. Double Dog Dare Ya is an excellent place for dog stays. It's clean and run very efficiently with a friendly, attentive staff from the front desk to the dog caregivers. The facility has live stream cameras (2) so you can check in and see your pooch throughout the day. The grooming service here too is terrific and affordable for what they do (bath, nail trim, glands cleaned, ears cleaned, etc.) I highly recommend Double Dog. I first tried out Double Dog Dare Ya when trying to find a place to leave my dog for job interviews when I first moved here a few months ago. My 10 yr old german shorthair pointer/lab mix is our "baby" and we have had both good and poor experiences in the past. DDDY is a blessing. Harley LOVES going there and that is high praise. The other places I've taken her in LA, she would try and drag me away when we would go up to the door after her first visit. The DDDY staff is kind, polite, and are great with Harley too. It is the first place Harley drags us IN to and can't wait to go there and play. I've used them for both daycare and overnight now and feel totally comfortable that Harley is having a good time and is being well taken care of. They treat her like a family member whenever we arrive and that is worth every penny. read more

I first brought my extremely high energy Boxer mix here when he was about 8 months old for boarding when I went on vacation...and I can't say enough good things about Double Dog. I've actually had very little interaction with the owner, but the other staff is exceptional. This is the only place that really tires him out! We've taken him to a few different places for day care and this is the only place where he comes home EXHAUSTED. This is the only place I will bring him for boarding. This is a place for DOGS. Not for pampered little prissy dogs that are used to being treated like princesses. They don't discriminate against breed or size and allow dogs to be dogs while maintaining order. They only lose one star for closing at 7pm (it's hard to get there right after work, but the dogs are playing up until the last minute!) and for being more expensive than Pet Smart (although much better!). read more

Double dog dare ya is a place I would encourage anyone to use for your next trip out of town. They were friendly, courteous and clearly articulated how they handle the dogs they care for. The aspect that I appreciated most was that it was a nice, safe place for us to leave our dog for a weekend. The place was very clean, and had no typical kennel/pet store smells whatsoever. Pretty impressive given the number of animals present, and the time of day of our visits. They were also very laid back about picking up on a Sunday, unlike several other kennels we researched. I wanted to revise my rating and add a note that the owner did call to address the issue and explained that this was not typical or acceptable service provided by her staff member. I was pleasantly surprised that she took the time to address this. I will definitely give Double Dog Dare Ya a chance now! Original review follows: For starters I have not yet used their services so what they provide for the dogs is undetermined. I'm also not one of those super picky people and give people a lot of leeway when they aren't overly helpful or polite, after all everyone has a bad day. However, their communication needs some work and I hope this will be a means for them to address their current standard operating procedure and work on their customer service skills. I called to make a reservation for my dogs. I was asked to hold and they hung up on me, ok that happens, so I called back. I was on hold for almost 9 minutes. When my call was finally transferred the lady I spoke to was impatient and rushed and not very informative. I had to cancel my original reservation so I called back later the same day. I said "I made a reservation for next weekend and I need to cancel that." The lady I spoke with said "Perfect" (very sarcastically) and slammed down the phone. I was so shocked I waited on the line for a minute thinking the phone had been dropped and hit the desk. She didn't ask if I wanted to reschedule or find out if I needed any other services. Such a poor move from a business perspective. I guess they have enough business they don't need to offer or be concerned with customer service skills... read more

This place is amazing, Until now, I had never found a place that knew how to groom a Scottie, but Patrick knows his Scottie cuts. Finley always looks so dapper when he is done. My dog is always excited to go here which is another sign. All the staff is very friendly and it is so much fun to walk through the front gate and bridge and enter a room with a glass wall and have all the dogs stop to look at you. It is like dog heaven! I take my Corgi to get bathed and her nails clipped once a month and she always comes back so pretty and soft. This place is the best. It is a 5 star bed and bisquit inn. ***** The quality of care that they give our pets is unbelievable. We have been going to Double Dog for probably 8 years now. Holly, our cocker spaniel, loves it there, when we drop her off she doesn't even look back at me because she is so excited to see her friends (the staff) there (she is one that normally has a lot of separation anxiety). Holly has had a couple of surgeries in the last year and I did not have any concerns about leaving here there for boarding when it was necessary. She is also groomed at Double Dog, Pat has the patience of a saint and does a wonderful job. There are many places that I could take Holly that are much closer to where I live, but I don't. I have been taking my Tibetan Terrier here for grooming and boarding since she was a puppy. She's now 11 1/2 years old. We moved from the eastside to the westside and now do an eastside day once a month in part to get not only the best looking puppy cut on the planet, but our Double Dog fix. We love Patrick, Debra, Amy and everyone else who works here. As a teenager, Patrick was one of the youngest professional handlers of show dogs in the U.S. He knows dogs. He knows people. In Los Angeles we tend to lose that people connection, we connect with our dogs and get back on the freeway concerned with our busy, busy lives. I could go on, but I won't.
