I want to start by saying how Happy I am to have found this beautiful place called Double Dog Dare Ya!!!! When you walk in there, the whole staff is so friendly and very warm and welcoming. You can see how much they love dogs, cats and all animals. The place is so calm and serine and beautiful Kept and very clean. and when I take my little Tara over their for her grooming I feel, so at ease because I know that every one there Takes such good care of her. I have brought my 2 small dogs at DDDY in the past for boarding, and I was happy with the place and service. However, the management recently changed their set up for the small dogs. It used to be that the small dogs can go out to the backyard whenever they want throughout the day. But now they can't do that anymore. Recently a new "patio" has been created next to the main room where the dogs are kept. But this "patio" is more like an enclosed space with concrete floor and walls that looks more like another room. They never truly get to go outside all day AT ALL. My dogs are potty trained and never pee and poop inside. Since this "patio" is more like an indoor room I know my dogs did not want to do their business there. Who knows how long they had to hold it until they couldn't hold it anymore! I'm very unhappy with that!! That's very unhealthy for my dogs. Another issue is that the regular room where they are kept has only one cot. There were approximately 20 dogs in there with one cot, which was already occupied by another dog. I don't expect them to provide a cot for each dog but at least have a few. My dogs can't take a nap during the day on a cold hard concrete floor. And most of the time the concrete floor had urine in some places. My dogs were at the facility for 3 days and 3 nights, and could not relax the whole time. They came home unrested, unhappy, and moped for 2 days. I understand the management set the place up this way for whatever reason, but unfortunately it's just not the best place for my dogs. I will not be bringing my dogs here again. I gave 2 stars for the service. FYI, Their pictures are old and need to be updated. You don't see any small dogs outside enjoying some sunshine in any of their photos. Only the the large dogs. They have taken really good care of my baby, Simba. I am worry free when I travel and I travel often. The staff are always nice and welcoming and Simba gets excited to go every time. In one situation, one staff member had her phone forwarded to her cell phone even after the business was closed to help me with questions I had about boarding. We have been taking our 2 year old Labradoodle, Kona, there since he was a young puppy and he absolutely runs into their facility daily. We are beyond thrilled with the entire staff and appreciate how they take such great care of Kona during his stays. Double dog is amazing! I bring my dog here to socialize as I do work still during the pandemic. The facility is Clean and the Staff is awesome. Due to Covid the amount of dogs they get is affected but it's good enough for my little guy! Plus I get to support them as I'm sure they have been affected. I've been bringing my dog naula for a while now n I love this place I've noticed that they take great care of her n she loves it there when they get to play in the yard .. when I bring her home she looks like she had a great day and exhausted from running around n I love how they have live cameras so I can check on her when ever I'd like freely. My dog typically doesn't do well with new people and takes her some time to warm up but with the staff at Double Dog, she loves everyone there! I brought my dog here for a 1/2 day of doggy daycare, I thought she was going to have a great time, playing with other dogs. We were watching her the whole time from their live cam, they had two employees playing with big dogs in the courtyard for a good chunk of time. Meanwhile, our dog, and another were kept in another room that resembled a prison cell. Both dogs just sat there watching the other dogs play, nobody came in to play with them, they were totally neglected (I packed toys for my dog, and they didn't give any of them to her). When we picked up our dog, she was shaking and upset that we had left her there, this is a prison for small dogs, we won't be coming back. If I wanted my dog to be neglected, I would have kept her at home in her crate, at least she would have been cozy in there. read more

I took my grumpy and ultra sensitive 12 yr old Oreo for boarding. Oreo has never been boarded before and has shown aggression towards strangers in the past. Patrick invited me for a tour and I found a lovely and clean place where big dogs had room to roam and play and small dogs were allowed to roam around in an office area where people worked. All the dogs appeared happy and healthy and it was very clear that Patrick and his wife loved dogs. Oreo stayed for 5 days and did great! He even let Patrick hold him, which is a miracle in itself. Oreo was happy when i came to pick him up and I was super pleased with the care he received. I will definitely be back and I highly recommend Double Dog Dare Ya to everyone!! read more

I used Double Dog Dare Ya during what was supposed to be a long trip outside of the US. I have a dog that is particularly in need of human contact and attention, and I'm aware of the great demands that this potentially puts on a dog sitter; I contacted DDDY ahead of time to explain my concerns and to make sure that they would be able to meet my dog's needs - I was assured that he would be given everything he needed. After leaving my dog with DDDY, I, and some of my relatives, monitored the goings-on via their on site web-cams (a great service idea, at least in its concept). When I noticed that my dog was regularly begging for attention from the staff, only to be ignored (not played with, not picked up), I both emailed and called the staff at DDDY. These actions resulted in no observable change in the staff's behavior. Additionally, I have to point out that it wasn't just my dog who was losing out to the staff's priority on chit-chat and workplace banter; the other dogs in the small dog section would also seek attention from the human staff, frequently to be ignored. As well, there seemed to be a lack of object stimulation available to the dogs -- all resulting in a melange of pacing neurotic or bored appearing dogs. Likely the last straw, I received no reply to my email concern which I sent to the owner, Patrick - this was particularly irritating as he certainly responded to me prior to me choosing DDDY, despite his being on vacation. After several days of stressing over what I was witnessing, further frustrated by a seeming lack of response to my repeated requests of the staff - and reinforced by friends and relatives contacting me, voicing similar concerns derived from their own observations - I put a detour on my trip: I returned to the US to pick up my dog and deliver him to a friend who lives out of the area. As I mentioned earlier, I think providing the customers with web-cam service is a fantastic idea in theory; in this case, though, it's a dual edged sword in that it allows a view onto services promised, but not lived up to. I don't pretend to understand the entire business demands and use cases for a dog sitting company; that being said, I do know that there are a large number of people in the world who **Love** dogs and would think that they had won the lottery were they paid a living wage to simply play and look after a pack of dogs. It's a little bit maddening that these aren't the people who seem to be working at DDDY; perhaps the current staff at DDDY were once people of this kind, but the people that they are today have little semblance of that desire. I write this now for I wish that such a warning was available to me before I chose Double Dog Dare Ya - a choice that ultimately ruined part of a unique and important trip for me.. read more

My pups LOVE Double Dog! The employees are the best - they take such good care of our dogs and are friendly and helpful every time we walk through the door. The dogs are there a few days a week for daycare and we also board them when we travel. Besides the boarding and daycare, they have an excellent grooming service at their other location - Pet Rush Inn. We have 2 Doodles and request specific grooms and they send them home looking great! The hours for daycare are 7am-7pm which is very convenient for full work days. Very easy to book boarding and grooming on the website - no need to prebook daycare, we just drop them off. They have a camera in the yard so we can check in on the pups throughout the day. We definitely recommend DDDY! read more

Patrick Guilfoyle is a man of exceptional taste and that extends to how he treats his canine guests. He has built an oasis for dogs in Burbank, a swanky spa for your pooch where they can play and frolic while you vacation or work watching them on webcams. My wife and I are freaks, in that we are in our thirties without children and two dogs that we DO NOT ANTHROPOMORPHIZE. They are dogs, not children. Because we understand they are dogs we do not pamper them as if they were people, we treat them well as befits their species. Their idea of vacation is to roll in water, sniff strange ass, pee on each other, and play all day. (OK, that may be some human's idea of fun, too.) We have two dogs, a pitbull/basenji mix allergic to everything, and an ex-racing greyhound. They love their time at DDDY and we rest assured knowing Patrick and his exceptional staff take top care of our dogs. The greyhound's skin can tear like rice paper, and those tears can keep ripping if they're not caught in time. So far no tears, which to me says that fights and skirmishes are caught in time and stopped. Double Dog Dare Ya is a premium doggie day care and kennel, so expect to pay more than other places. But if you are in a position to do so, and understand that "hotelling" your pet is both stupid and really just bores them, take them to Double Dog and envy the simplicity of modern design as applied to dogs. Outdoor play-area has tarps for shade, a swimming pond, and lots of room to roam. They cap their population to prevent a negative caretaker:dog ratio. Their informal motto is a dog that sleeps for two days after a visit is a job well done. In the many times my dogs have been there, "sleep" is a polite way of saying "comatose". read more

Once I walk in the reception area, a smiling staff member gently whisks my dog away to a private area so she doesnt go through her normal separation anxiety attack. I have been a happy customer of DDDY for about 13 years. No matter where I have lived, be it Burbank or Canoga Park, I have traveled the distance for the peace of mind knowing my dogs are well groomed & treated with the utmost care. Patrick and the entire staff are wonderful and warm people. I have not boarded my dogs there, but I do know that dogs in the playground are ALWAYS happy and playing together. There is a staff member with them to supervise at all times. I have two Pomeranians, and they both come home looking absolutely gorgeous...and they smell lovely! After 13 years of visiting every 4 weeks, I have seen the skill and knowledge in Patrick. He can groom ANY breed. I highly recommend DDDY for both grooming and boarding. It was cool then and it's very cool now. Patrick is all about the dogs, period. LOVE HIM!!! My dogs love him and his staff. The grooming is fantastic, I bring all of my clients dogs here for specialty cuts and for their end of stay grooming. It is super clean, safe and the staff is schooled in pack behavior. I love Double Dog Dare Ya so much I almost don't want to review it and let the secret out! First of all, Patrick and his staff are the bomb. They're all about the dogs, and will answer every neurotic question you can throw at them. I trust them implicitly to do right by my pets -- when one of my dogs was staying there and got sick (I was in London) they were AMAZING about getting her to the vet. Secondly, my dogs love it! They're exhausted when I pick them up from a play day at DDDY, and when I bring them in they just about die from excitement at seeing the staff again. The facility is super-clean and the dogs are supervised at all times. The web cameras allow you to check in on your furry friend -- and while you may think you're too cool for that, I guarantee you you'll find yourself on the DDDY website on your vacation, watching the 15 second updates. read more

I first used DDDY about 13 years ago (maybe a little longer). I had a young German Shepherd who was really good around people, but was having some behavior challenges around other dogs. I called and spoke with Patrick. He told me to bring Cole out (he was on Burbank Blvd at that time), and he would work with him. As a dog owner, it was one of the best things I've ever done. Cole was a big German Shepherd, but Patrick worked with him for a few back to back days, and he was great well-socialized, beautiful dog. I took Cole to DDDY regularly, and he loved it. He was always happy to to arrive for his day of play and his bath; and he always came home exhausted. I have used DDDY for boarding as well, and I have had the same excellent experience. I trust Patrick and his staff completely. I now have another dog, Chloe, who goes to DDDY most Saturdays. Again, she is always happy to arrive, and she always comes home exhausted and happy. One last thing, the place is SPOTLESS! You can walk in and see a couple dozen dogs in the main play yard, and another dozen also in the little dog play yard, yet it doesn't smell like two dozen dogs have been playing there, and doing their daily "business", all day long. The staff is continually supervising the dogs, and cleaning up after them. I can't emphasize enough how much I trust Patrick and his staff. I have been a regular customer for a long time, and whether it's for a day of play or a two week boarding, I have no worries that my pet will be well taken care of. read more

This place is great! I recently adopted a chihuahua-dachshund pup who has a bit of separation anxiety. Double Dog Dare Ya got me in right away for day care and took great care of Koffey. The staff is very friendly, seems to pay special attention to all of the dogs in their care, and Koffey comes home EXHAUSTED every day and is asleep before we even pull out of their parking lot. I also credit them with socializing my dog to the point that he loves all other dogs and people. Makes life so much easier. Would not hesitate to recommend! read more

My dog sitter of many years, moved to Florida and I was referred to DDD by a dear friend who owns Maxwell Dog Store in Studio City. My first contact was Brie, who was very welcoming, and suggested I could stop by with Chloe and see the facility. Chloe is an extremely pampered and cared for dog, with a special diet and supplements that she need given to her daily, which was a concern for me. From the moment I arrived and met several staff members, I know Chloe would be very well taken care of. I spoke with Brie daily, and I received the most fantastic report card and videos of Chloe while we were away. We picked up a very happy dog, and have made reservations for a future visit. DDDY knows what it takes to run this type of business. They follow a set of rules to assure everyone that our dogs will have a great experience (grooming and / or boarding). If any dog does not meet their requirements (medical shots in particular) they will not accept your four-legged family member. I have a five month old puppy that's a Miniature Schnauzer, I have taken Piper to Double Dog Dare Ya twice now and we have been very happy every time! The staff is really friendly and helpful. The receptionist is very kind and helpful with all of my questions. The first time I did a soft grooming and they take their time and are really gentle with puppies. Today I did a full Miniature Schnauzer haircut, and the groomer did a beautiful job! She looks amazing, almost like a doggie makeover! :) I will continue going here and use the same groomer. We love this place and is one of our go-to spots! We often drop off our little chug, Sofia, for a half day while we do errands and such on the weekends. I don't know what happened from when I first discovered this place, but the level of grooming quality has gone WAY down. For $60 I expect an even hair cut at the very least and NOT one very short ear and one normal ear. It literally looks like they cut one too short and realized "OOPS!" I also expect that if I leave CLEAR instructions, that they get followed which they do not always. It seems that grooming is not their thing maybe they are more of a bording facility. Too bad. Will likely go back to my spot in Los Feliz even though it's farther from my house. read more
