The nachos are ginormous and loaded with toppings. The flavor was pretty good, which it should be considering the price, and there was definitely no shortage of food. Service was also pretty good during our visit. The restaurant was fairly quiet and almost empty while we were there, so it's hard to say how the service would be during a busier time. Overall, a solid experience and definitely worth knowing about if you're looking for a seriously oversized plate of nachos.

Service was a little spotty, although we were a very large group, so I am sure that made things more difficult. Drinks were frequently missed or came out incorrectly, and our server had to reconfirm some orders multiple times. That said, they were incredibly nice and friendly throughout, which definitely helped. Overall, Top Hat Lounge is a great place to hang out, especially if you want a lot of space, a fun atmosphere, and live music. The service could have been smoother, but I would definitely come back.

If you go there bring something for your stomach cause you will need it afterwards.

I was driving up to this heavy metal concert up in Spokane and I considered grabbing a heavy meal for the duration of the journey. As I arrived around the Missoula vicinity, a friend who works for this nancy ass art house told me to try Double Front's Fried Chicken. I, as a simpleton, like fried chicken. It's easy to eat, simple and incredibly versatile. So, I quickly bought the idea and drove there. Parking was pretty great as there was virtually nobody in that god-forsaken land (I may have seen a few tumbleweeds). I tried their Regular Dinner, All breast and got me some Jalapeño Poppers as well. To be honest, in my 29 years of existence, I thought I had seen it all. But nothing was more brutal than their chicken. Cannibal corpse does not even hold a candle to it. It was juicy, no doubt. Straight up crispy. As for the Jalapeño Poppers, where did the Cream Cheese go??? Nothing is more brutal than taking one man's cream cheese out of his Jalapeño Poppers. I could've complained, right? But I ate them last since I was already on the road. So right now, I'm not sure if my friend pranked me to try them or if it was just a fluke from their management. read more

"oh - you like fried chicken? if you are here for lunch you have to go to the double front it is right around the corner" My wife and I were visiting the MAM (missoula art museum) and we ask the lovely young woman at the desk about food choices in the area. This was our introduction to the Double Front Cafe! When we walked through the door we were greeted by Patty who was very excited that we were "newbies" to the DFC! She ask us about our travels and told us all about the chicken and the history of the building and we ordered the onion ring appetizer along with two specials - one white, one dark! Now I consider myself a pretty good judge of fried chicken and this chicken was delicious. I did miss the spices that we have in southern fried chicken, but the meat was tender and moist, the crust was very crispy and not greasy at all. The fries were very good and the tea was great, but the star was the chicken! One note of warning - the 'first bite" will result in burnt lips and tung, exercise extreme caution!! read more

Due to the many good reviews of Double Front, my expectations were set at a high standard. When I ate there, I decided to go all out on my orders. So I got myself the mac & cheese wedges, buffalo chicken stix, jalapeno poppers and honey bbq wings. It took them around 45 minutes to prepare the food, and I had to constantly follow up with the staff about my order, which definitely turned me off. When the food arrived, I was even more disappointed because the food that was served was COLD. I made my complaints and the staff didn't even seem like they cared. I had to check this eatery out of curiosity because of the sheer amount of good reviews it had. I'm southern, I know southern fried chicken. Upon arrival, The place was not very fancy (this is fine), and the menu is basically pure unadulterated bachelor food. Reminds me of that one burger joint I used to end up after a night drinking, always smelled like old chicken grease. So I'm giving these guys 2 stars because the chicken wasn't a disaster, it was a calamity. read more

Whenever my partner and I travel, we always make sure to check out an establishment's reviews before we actually decide to try it out. So, on our way home from North Dakota, we stopped by Missoula and dined at Double Front. All that we can say about our dining experience is that it was completely disappointing. Alright! Got referred by a friend to try their chicken. So I ordered their Onion rings, a sampler and one of their white meat dinner. I don't normally salt my food, but I tend to cook with different herbs and spices. To an unseasoned (pun intended) palate, I don't think they know the difference between salt and seasonings and group everything into the "too salty" category. But, boy oh boy, that Fried Mac took me straight to my college days. I used to live off on Kraft Mac back in college and I can seriously confirm that they are freezing Kraft Mac and just frying it.
