When I'm strapped for cash but want a bootleg Din Tai Fung experience, I head down to Dough Zone. They got (relatively) cheap and tasty Q-Bao and Xiaolongbao. I'm not gonna lie, the soups and sandwiches are TRASH here. But you don't come to a dumpling house to get any of that. (I do miss their sweet and sour glass noodles though, they were good). Order times are pretty swift, and customer service is nothing to write home about, But I do appreciate that they get around their servers poor English skills by using marked menu's. I show up and it's kinda busy. But not slammed. Anyway, I asked to go order. Mirya L takes my order. And I asked how long it will be. She said 10-15m tops. And I'm like ok. Can I use the restroom. So I come back from the restroom. And waiting by the door. And she comes back up and asks if she can take my order. And I'm like she already did. She then proceeds to write my order. So basically she literally forgot to write up my order to the kitchen. So I wait. After 35 minutes she comes up to me, and says order isn't ready. So I walk to the kitchen and ask the guy working there how long my order will be he was like it's still at least 5-10 min. The ppl behind me when I first ordered. Had gotten all of their food. And the ppl after my order were sat down and got their food. Anyway. Moral of the story. Don't do to go orders. And don't talk to Mirya L. The soup was light and flavorful, not too salty and resembled a bit like pho broth. Bouncy noodles, just right proportions where I wasn't too full to finish the bowl. I have been to 3 of their locations and I can say the quality of the food is consistently outstanding. There is no variance to the taste of their dishes that I have found. We stopped by a Dough Zone in Portland, OR and weren't too big a fan of it, but decided to give this location a chance. I'd say overall, I really enjoyed our meal and this location. The honey and I ordered steamed dumplings in hot and sour sauce and chicken and pork soup dumplings. Everything was quite good, and the scalding temperature the honey prefers for his dumplings. The service was quick and helpful, and although we would have preferred to order by QR code, filling out the sheet of paper wasn't too bad. I ordered the pork xiao long bao ($9.25), the pan fried pork buns ($9.25), the sweet and sour cucumber ($7.15), and the dan dan noodles ($7.75) Xiao long bao: These are pretty standard if not a little worse than average xlb. I felt that the soup inside was slightly bland and I wish there was a bit more flavor. Pan fried pork buns: Probably the best thing I had here. I liked how crispy the bottom was and the filling was delicious. A must grab here. Dan dan noodles: Very heavy on the szechuan peppercorn so if you love that numbing tongue feeling then this is the dish for you -- I personally felt it was a little heavy on the spice and so I didn't enjoy it as much. Sweet and sour cucumber: Very standard and very tasty! Overall, the food is pretty good especially if you're looking for somewhere to go on your lunch break and for a pretty okay price. Not really a fan of this location of Dough Zone. This location is pretty small and we ended up having to wait for ~20-30 mins to get seated even at 2pm. Parking lot is also really small and shared between many businesses so difficult to get a spot, and parking at the Dairy Queen isn't allowed either. As for food, pretty much standard for Dough Zone. I found the cucumbers here to not be as flavorful as some of the other locations. XLB and QBao was good though. I will probably just keep to the Overlake location in the future. read more

I got the cucumbers and beef noodle soup and it was SO GOOD. The beef noodle soup isn't something I usually go for but the noodles were doughy and delicious while the beef was savory and complimented it well. I ordered ahead through door dash and the food was ready as soon as I arrived, about 15 minutes after I ordered it. I still remember going to the tiny Dough Zone in crossroads mall, now dough zone is an international phenomena which many would argue rivals Din Tai Fung in terms of food taste and is more more value in terms of cost. The Redmond downtown location is in a prime area near town center and has reasonable parking. We ordered a bunch of dumplings, potstickers, Pancakes and Dan Dan noodles. Everything tasted fresh and great. The only negative was that their teas are too sweet and they don't tell you upfront. I would not order them again.
