the full spread (pickles, onions, and bread not shown)

My husband and I popped over to Texas to surprise my mom for her birthday, and we did not want to surprise her with having to cook for us so we decided to get some BBQ. We ordered ribs, brisket, baked beans, and potato salad. The order also came with bbq sauce, onions, pickles, and bread. Everything was awesome. My aunt said she would marry the owner because of how good the ribs were. My favorite part was the rub on both the brisket and ribs. Ribs had a tiny bit of spice and the brisket was a good salty/peppery crust. I'm pretty particular about bbq sauce and usually make my own. Down South Texas's sauce did not disappoint. The potato salad had a little bit of sweetness to it which was interesting and awesome. The location is pretty easy to get to and is in a small food truck park. I always love food truck parks because if you're with some weirdo who doesn't like bbq there are options around for everyone to enjoy. It's also great for covid-friendly outdoor dining. Highly recommend!

Since we didn't have a car to get around Austin, I had to order delivery through UberEATS instead. Even if the meats were not too warm anymore when they arrived, the smoke wafted through the hotel room as soon as I opened the bag inviting us to dig into BBQ feast. Down South BBQ is our first intro to Austin BBQ and has now set the bar high for the rest of BBQ joints we're going to check out through the week. I've previously had "Texas BBQ" in California, Seattle and Toronto but they do not come close to the smokiness and flavor from Down South. My favorite was the brisket which was well-marbled and had a perfect smoked crust - so tender, juicy and packed with a smoky punch. You can skip the Smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese and get more meats instead!

Came to our office complex for Fooda Friday. Brisket was moist, tender and not overly fatty. Generous thick slices for a lunch plate. Unfortunately both the potato salad and the baked beans had a sour taste, as if they were on the verge of spoiling. Wish they offered a slice of bread, pickles and onions with their plate. Overall another just okay BBQ place.

My boy never disappoints. The sampler filled me up with extra Mac N Cheese. Saved my Turtle brownie for later, Thanks Mama!

The only reason that I gave a 3 is because there was a broken toothpick in my greens. That took my appetite away

As a lifelong Texas resident and BBQ lover I highly recommend this place! For under $20 you will get filled up! I had the "Big Texas" which was a sandwich filled with pulled pork, sausage, brisket, and mac'n cheese ! It was literally overflowing with meat! I didn't eat breakfast this morning so I was pretty freaking hungry. I decided to order an extra taco, but after eating the sandwich I didn't even touch the taco. If you come here you will not be disappointed! Oh lastly, the customer service was good too. Cool genuine guys. 10/10 I highly recommend!

Pulled pork is excellent- tender meat topped with sauce.

I had the pulled pork plate and it was excellent- soft tender meat topped with sauce. Price is reasonable. This trailer is a good find. The black guys that run this place are cool. I have since returned to Los Angeles from my Austin vacation and just want to say that you guys living here are lucky. I wish I could eat food like this more often.

Baby Back Ribs Plate with 4 Cheese Smoked Mac n Cheese and Organic Collard Greens!

I have passed this location of food trucks many times, always busy.... and as a food delivery driver I have picked up from them many times. Saturday I was able to patronize them myself and ordered a rib plate. All I can say is that I'm so glad I did! I will absolutely return. The ribs were meaty and delicious... with or without the delicious BBQ sauce. I chose the organic collard greens and 4-cheese Mac n cheese for my sides and will do so again! A great find for me!

The inside seating is grab your own picnic tables or share with others. They have a huge outside dining area with additional seating. Also, they have a bar area to sit at. They do have other merchandise for sale like beef jerky, bbq sauce, etc. Two separate multi-user men and women's restrooms. Complimentary stewed beans, bbq sauce, jalapeño, pickles, onions, and bread. For dinner, I ordered the... Beef Rib - really tender, yet firm enough to stay on the bone. A good beefy bbq flavor and smokiness. Brisket - The brisket was tender, smokey, melt in your mouth delicious! The fat cap was was so good. LOL. I liked the Brisket a lot better than the Beef Rib. Mac-N-Cheese (bacon & jalapeño topping) - the noodles were cooked well and the cheese was cream and perfectly coated each noodle. The crisp bacon & jalapeño topping was free and no extra charge, really boasted this side. Banana Pudding - a classic southern dessert done well. Sweet Tea - We're in Texas, nothing beats the heat better than cold Sweet Tea. Others in my group who ordered said that the Roast Chicken was good. Unfortunately, the smoked Turkey was dry. Thank you Paula for the recommendation. We loved the place. Support your local business!

This spot was close to my hotel, and on my departure day, I decided to have one last hit of Q. It's a big restaurant, and it appears to also be quite the music venue. When I went, a little on the early side for a Friday dinner, there was not a wait and I was sat immediately. My server was attentive, and got me in, fed, and back out in plenty of time to catch my already delayed flight. I ordered their 3 meat combo plate, which also came with two sides, and added on a piece of cornbread. I chose brisket of course, as well as turkey and sausage. The server recommended the serrano pepper spinach (like a creamed spinach) and onion rings, and I took those recs. The best of the three meats was the turkey. Not a good sign. It was moist and tender, though not particularly smokey. Even so, I enjoyed it more than the brisket and sausage, which I would have guessed the reverse when ordering. The brisket was on the dry side and kind of bland, it did not smack of being freshly carved. The Stubbs BBQ sauce helped me eat some of it... now I see why they are famous for their sauce. I had a couple bites of the sausage and pushed it aside, I didn't enjoy their recipe on that at all. It was cooked seemingly well, but the blend of spices and meat they use wasn't pleasant to me. The sides, the onion rings were very crispy which I like, but again... something in the batter. Maybe even the oil they were cooked in, I did not enjoy as much. The spinach was actually quite enjoyable, maybe even a little rich. I think if it were warmer, if might help milden out some of that. It was really thick. The cornbread wasn't worth the add-on. No sweetness or anything to make it memorable. Vessel for butter. The portion was massive, and I had leftover food, but did not take it... and that would have been the case even if I wasn't headed to the airport. I wouldn't recommend this spot.

I came here for the beef ribs and they did not disappoint. Are they expensive? Most definitely, 2…read moreribs cost $54 (they weigh them so prices can vary). Were they 100% worth it? ABSOLUTELY. When I tell you these ribs were a religious experience I am not embellishing. Full disclosure: I do not currently live in the south so I don't consider myself a BBQ connoisseur, but I did spend 4 years in the south and have sampled many BBQ joints in the meantime. Take this review as someone who really enjoys BBQ (and any slow cooked meat for that matter) but who could not list more than 10 BBQ restaurants they have eaten at in the last 5 years. So the beef ribs. Great texture, tender meat but still had a bite to it. Expertly seasoned so they were not wet with sauce but still moist. I would consider 1 beef rib a snack, 2 a small meal. I also tried the chopped brisket (brisket and burnt ends sitting in a soup of BBQ sauce). That was also delicious (and more reasonably priced), but I could have done with slightly less sauce. It really was like a soup and while the sauce was tasty, there was too much of it. I went later in the afternoon (around 2/2:30pm) and got their last two beef ribs so going earlier is better. You order at the open kitchen and then pay at the counter when your food is ready. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, you can take your food and sit at any of their tables of which they have many (this place is pretty big). I cannot comment on how this place stacks up to other BBQ spots in Austin, but I very much enjoyed the beef ribs.

Our group had pork ribs (2) with sides of beans, potato salad, coleslaw & mac n cheese, and a pulled pork sandwich served with pickle and raw onion on the side. The two piece was substantial for me, and the four piece seemed to be a little too much even for a big boy. The restroom floors were suspiciously very wet. I feel like they could provide some moist towelettes because the chicken was very greasy, and we had to just pour water on the napkins. For fifteen people, the total cost was $425.69. This included delivery costs and taxes, but no tip. It consisted of three meats, two sides, and a dessert along with pickles, onions, bread, and BBQ sauce. There was also a set of utensils delivered, but plates were forgotten, but not a big deal. Brisket - This was definitely the best item eaten of the day. It was tender and juicy while adding the BBQ sauce giving that extra bite. The BBQ sauce was great regardless, a little bit of sweet and smoky flavor going on. Pulled Pork - This was another solid meat choice. I did not think it was as tender as the brisket, but it was still enjoyable especially with that BBQ sauce, which was key throughout the meal. Sausage - This was not bad. The snap on this threw me off a little, but it was not too bad. They were large links and had plenty of flavor. Gouda Mac & Cheese with Smoked Bacon - This was actually penne pasta with little pieces of the bacon. I actually preferred this pasta choice here. It really soaked up the cheese sauce. The sauce was not too over powerful and was just right. Beans with Smoked Bacon - These were not too bad. I thought they were a little liquidity, but the added bacon pieces definitely helped. Banana Pudding - This came in individual cups, which was nice. The pudding was thick with a little meringue or whipped cream present and a few wafer cookies on top. It was a satisfying ending to a very good meal. Will I go back? Yes.
