I came here for the first time about 3 weeks ago and wow - this is the best dentist I've ever been to. My top left wisdom tooth has been growing fairly quickly and started to give me so much discomfort. I called around a few places and most were BOOKED weeks ahead just for wisdom teeth extraction consultations.. not even the actual process. When I called Downey Modern Dentistry I spoke to Janeth for a consultation and x-rays, they were able to get me in the very next day! She was so sweet and patient as well. When I actually came in to the office I was met with the same kindness and genuineness from the entire staff. I hadn't been to a dentist in years (probably more than 3) and they were also able to squeeze a basic teeth cleaning in during my visit. My dental insurance covered part of the costs, but I do have to pay out of pocket.. I liked that the hygienist and dentist talked to me through the process to let me know what they were doing. Today I had my top two wisdom teeth removed. Literally painless. Dr. Marhabi, the oral surgeon, is so gentle. He frequently asked me if I was doing okay during the procedure. I was done with my top two in less than 5 minutes. I didn't need to be sedated because they were already poking out of my gums, so they just numbed me. With my experience at this office, I will for sure be back to do my bottom wisdom teeth! 10/10 experience. read more

The care I received my initial visit from Dr. Mow was incredibly awesome! 100 % recommended. I went in for a regular routine exam and ended up needing a deep cleaning. He explained the entire process and was very open to any questions I had. They Hygienist Nurse Marie Hernandez is so delicate and passionate in what she does. She spoke with me through the entire numbing process to distract me from any pain. She was so gentle with me and took her time to explain the entire process as she moved on with treatment. I read reviews for this dental office and made the call. Now, a dental appointment is never pleasant for me but I'm glad I found this dental office. Dr. Mow and his dental assistant Aglael were amazing with me. They understood my anxiety, they did everything they could to keep me calm and comfortable. I had a root canal done and Dr. Hayashi was the specialist who handled the root canal. It wasn't great (but it's a root canal, when is a root canal ever great?) but he was fast and efficient and also very patient with me. They where very accommodating and where able to give me a same day appointment. My dentist was amazing very informative and skilled. Highly recommend this Dentist office I have a son with Down syndrome! Cesar and Dr Mow was very patient and extremely attentive!

I love this place! They are so nice from the moment you walk in to the time you are done. Dr Mow has done some major dental work on me over the last year and a half and I have been so happy with his skills and the time he takes to get to know you. I was in there today for the first time in 8+months and he totally remembered and asked about my kids. His dental assistant, Roxanna was also excellent. She would make sure I was comfortable and made sure that I didn't need anything while undergoing my procedure (water, blanket, etc). No one likes going to the dentist but Dr Mow and Roxanna made it easy today. The office manager ( at least that's how I think of her) Janeth, makes sure that any upcoming appointments work with my schedule, not theirs. She is also skilled at explaining the cost of the procedures and how much they will be, giving me multiple options on how to pay as well as what my insurance covers. As you can tell, I absolutely think this place and these three people in particular are worthy of five stars!! read more

The actual dentist is awesome and gentle and explains everything that he's doing when he's working on your mouth, but in the big butt is when I was trying to reach the office to make a payment for balance owed, they would never take my call. I would leave a message they would never call me back last week when I called to make a payment and they took my payment. The next day in the mail came a letter from a debt collector regarding modern dentistry. Let me start by emphasizing that I am a grown a** women with a fear of the dentist for whatever reason. I scheduled an appt because I knew I had a cracked tooth that I had ignored for far too long and was getting a bit sensitive. Dr. Mow, and his staff were the absolute best. Patient, professional and caring. They're office has top of the line equipment which made everything from start to finish, painless and easy. Turns out I needed a root canal and I opted to extract the cracked tooth. Dr. Hayashi did the root canal and it was a fast and painless experience. I was super nervous for nothing. Dr. Marhabi performed the extraction on a separate day and again, quick and painless. He and his staff were super down to earth and professional. Oh! I also had a deep cleaning with Andrea and she is the sweetest with early availability so i was still able to head to work after. If you're like me and hesitant to schedule. Trust me. Do it. I went to the dentist after not going for almost 3 years! Dr. mow was excellent he was very thorough with my exam. He went over things that I had never been told before at any appointment. He was so helpful in explaining exactly what I needed and WHY. Roxanna took my X-rays and she was so nice and explained every step. She took her time to make sure I was comfortable. If you've never had mouth x rays, they are super uncomfortable. They put scanner things in your mouth and cameras. It was a lot but honestly I'm so glad they took the time to go through everything so that I can get the best mouth care. Roxanna was so sweet and happily reassured me. Everything was clean, I saw her clean everything she touched and that I touched as we were going. Roxanna made me feel safe and she was very friendly. Dr. Mow doesn't make you feel unimportant, he wasn't rushing through anything, they both really took their time. I came in with a cracked tooth from a failed root canal, what i really needed was an extraction. But instead of helping out his fellow man. And mind you I have very good insurance. This place is nice and modern! The dentists and DA's are very sweet and friendly. I came here the first time back in June for a routine cleaning and was recommended to see a periodontist due to a receding gum on one of my teeth. I was told to make an appointment with him the following week for a consult and possibly even for the procedure of a gum graft as he only comes once a month. I called off of work, came for a 5 minute consult to be told I needed a gum graft which was already told by the dentist and was told to come next month for the actual procedure. The person in charge of checking insurance was very busy that day and she told me she would check my insurance and email me my quote for the procedure. Two weeks later pass by and nothing has been emailed, no phone call, nothing. I decide to call to find out myself - the person told me it was going to be approx $750. Brings us here to appt in July - I again called off of work because I'm finally getting my procedure done, right? Nope. I get there and the front desk lady tells me periodontist is falling behind. About 10 minutes later, she comes up to me and gives me the quote for my procedure of $2300. I told her I was quoted $750. She doesn't really have an excuse as to why there is such a discrepancy in prices aside from insurance doesn't cover it. My main issue with this is why didn't she call and quote me before instead of telling me day of in the waiting room? This is very unprofessional. I was ready to pay a certain amount not an additional $1550. Needless to say, I will not be coming back. There's no communication between the office and patients. This is unfortunate as I really liked my dentist and dental assistants. Good luck with billing you guys! read more
