This place has a very nice selection of Mexican breakfast, the place is nicely decorated it feels very fresh the food is plated beautifully. I just wish the food was a bit better, the salsas dont have spice and are very sour, the beans honestly were not it at all either old or from a can. The oj and horchata are overly sweet.. the service was great and our server was amazing. Over all the experience was okay. And something I do find a little silly is they charge a party fee even if majority of the party are young children. In all honesty I dont think this is a place for me. But maybe for you?

Came by after church for breakfast no wait which was awesome . Our whole table got chilaquiles. I got the divorced chilaquiles. They were actually really delicious . I enjoyed the green salsa more than the red . Also the orange juice is freshly squeezed . Amazing . Price is just a bit expensive .

We stopped in on our way through for a quick bite and boy were we impressed. It's a cute cafe with super friendly and welcoming staff. Luckily we were able to be seated pretty quickly (partly because it was a sprinkly day and partly because the church crowd had not arrived just yet) but there was a wait right after we were seated. Surprisingly in the blink of an eye our dishes arrived at our table. I couldn't believe how fast the service was. My dining companion inhaled his food (I guess someone was starving or something) and he said the machaca was REALLY good. He is usually a chilequillas guy but I guess it was a machaca kind of day. He actually said he wanted to go back next time we are in the area to try other things (including the chilequillas). I got the waffle. It was a little pricy for just a waffle (I didn't get the deluxe waffle with the churros) but the waffle was light and fluffy. It was nice and crispy and it was a big enough waffle that I shared with my dining companion. My partner also got coffee. The service was so good that his cup was never dry. At first the waitress kept coming by to fill his cup before she brought him an insulated carafe full of hot coffee to keep him happy. She also left more than enough creamer. Overall, we loved this place. The atmosphere was great, food was delicious and the service was top notch. I highly recommend this place if you are ever in the area.

Fast and Very Friendly Service. Everyone was nice and welcoming, let me pick where i wanted to sit for just a party of one. Music was comfortable and held a great vibe, not too loud or too quiet. Food was brought out hot and quickly, and presentation was beautiful. (The Latte as well!) Will definitely come back next time im in Oxnard again :)

We decided to come check out downtown and stop for some brunch. We enjoyed the outside seating. The waitress was very patient and kind and helped us choose are amazing meals. I got the Nutella crepes that my son ended up eating most of and he got the flight of pancakes with three different toppings (Oreo , Nutella and chocolate) they were all a 10/10.

My daughter was excited to visit this spot after a long day of shopping at the outlets. They have a nice little spot tucked right in downtown Oxnard. They have a great menu with a huge variety of different breakfast options, sandwiches, Mexican food entrees, all kinds of dishes. I wasn't really hungry (with that being said, don't judge the amount of food I got ) I ordered the birria de jugo and I'm so glad I did. Amazing! I loved everything about it! Slightly spicy broth with incredible flavor and big nice chunks of tender meat, so good I also ordered a short stack of the mazapan pancakes. Super good, cooked perfectly. Great service, excellent food. I'll definitely stop by next time I'm passing through, or even making a special trip to visit, this spot is definitely worth it! Remember to show up early as they close early.

Our busser Alex and server Adri were wonderful this morning. Our meal was super yummy and their homemade cinnamon roll was far better than I expected. Highly recommend. As we were eating our food, we were watching other dishes being brought out to guests and the presentation was amazing for each dish. Super impressed and I will definitely be coming back again to try more things from their menu.

It was my first time here and I had a great experience. The ambiance is great along with the music playing in the background. Our server was attentive. We went for breakfast during the week and so it wasn't busy. We ordered the 2x2 breakfast, which included 2 pancakes, eggs, bacon and the house potatoes. We also ordered the special of the day, which was chorizo with their rosemary potatoes, beans, tortillas and guacamole. The food was delicious and the portions were good, not too much and not too little.

We popped in here because Tacos El Diablo stopped carrying their incredible churro donuts, and we really really wanted churros. Yelp led us to downtown cafe and we were really looking forward to dessert. Service was prompt and attentive, and the restaurant was clean (albeit empty). And we soon realized why it was empty. I've had better churros from the Costco food court. And the funnel cake was really bad - soggy, tasteless, disappointing. Would not recommend. Would not return.

My wife and I were craving breakfast and had always been curious about Downtown Café in downtown Oxnard. Finally, on a weekday, we decided to give it a try. The place is nice, with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. The menu is extensive, offering a wide range of options for both breakfast and lunch. We already knew what we wanted to try. I love pancakes and country fried steak, so that's what I ordered. My wife, who loves waffles and crepes, decided to get the Downtown Waffle as it caught her eye. I got the country fried steak with a side of fries and a side of chocolate chip pancakes. My wife loved her dish. She said it was delicious and generously sized, especially enjoying the churros on top of the waffle. As for me, the pancakes were perfect--big, fluffy, sweet, and delicious, just the way I like them. The country fried steak, however, was just okay. I thought it was a bit small, and the coating was too thick, leaving not enough meat. Still, the gravy was quite good. Overall, Downtown Café is a nice option for breakfast or brunch in Oxnard and worth a try for anyone who loves pancakes, waffles, or any sweet breakfast dishes. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying one of their burgers someday.

Been to Downtown Cafe a couple of times now and it's always been really good. I like the waffles! food came pretty quick, was hot, tasted great. Service was quick and attentive. Coffee was kept full.

The cafe de olla was 9.5/10! Only reason I didn't give it a 10 because it was a tad bit too sweet for my liking, but I do usually drink my coffee black so it will probably be perfect for any other person. The rosemary house potatoes were amazing! The concha that came with my coffee, amazing! The meat lovers skillet and chorizo tacos were also delicious! Definitely recommend. Next time I am definitely trying their chavelas because they looked like that would be 10/10!

It is so hot in this establishment! It's very uncomfortable, and so hard to be able to eat while feeling this hot. There's also flies inside. Which gets really annoying while you're trying to eat and swatting at flies while also trying to fan yourself. The food is ok. The bacon is very thin, and the pancakes are not very fluffy. Aside from that, I enjoyed the eggs and love the heavily seasoned potatoes. The guava and cheese pastry was also pretty good. Not too sweet or heavy. The staff is always very friendly, but I can tell they're hot as well. It cannot be fun to work in that environment. I probably won't return until it's colder outside, if I do.

Downtown cafe was not what they said it was . I decided to take my family in for all you can eat pancakes and have a good time with them since we don't get to see each other as often . It took time for our waitress to actually attend us , take drink orders and bring our silverware . And take our food orders. ..... Our waitress (daniel) grey blue eyes black beard was ordered to bring 3 buffalo burgers total additional to everything else ordered and he did state that he would fix that problem on the order taken . Since he put down a different burger. It took a while to get part of our food served . Orange juices were warm . Chilaquiles ordered were served cold. And when he brought out the burgers he said "italian burgers " NO ONE ORDERED italian burgers . He tried forcing my sibling to take it but I spoke up and nicely said to him that was not what we had ordered . I could see he got upset because he got so red and the face gesture he made .... But I wouldn't make my siblings eat something they didn't order . That is not their mistake ! It took an additional 30 mins to get the burgers served and by that time half of us were done eating . By the time we needed our tab The amount charged was ridiculous. We were getting charged $264 for bad /cold food and warm drinks . We were being charged for wrong burgers. And a drink we never drank!!!! And on top we never got our pancakes ! I was so dissatisfied with the service from our waitress , to the other ladies picking up dishes Because when we tried getting help from them they would ignore us , when we were literally a foot or two away from them .! Overall I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GOING . Nor WOULD I GO BACK . I believe we need a refund for the terrible excruciating service and food we received . If this is how your waitresses are trained to give service . Its ridiculous . Even IHop has better customer service and skill. 0/10 read more

Haven't been here for a few months and they took off of their menu the chicken and waffle. I explained I wanted chicken and waffle and not the strips. I was brought the strips. After I received my plate I was told they discontinued the chicken and waffle plate. Kind of disappointed because the fried chicken was amazing. I did not return the plate. This is our first time eating here. We read review but it was nothing like what we expected to be. They brought out 1 plate of food and improved us that another order was sold out 30 minutes later. Food was a just warm not hot. Would be nice to know what your restaurant is out of so we can make better choices. Also no flavored creamer overall a nice location and all but doesn't make up for the service for these reason I give it a 2 star. Might be a while until we come back. read more

We came in last week on a Sunday with some friends who were visiting from San Diego. The wait wasn't terribly long and was an estimated 30-45 minutes. We waited within the vicinity of the patio area and were accidentally skipped, but the staff worked quickly on setting up a table outside, but an inside table opened up and our party was seated. We tried this place for the first time. It was on a holiday so the place was crowded, a good sign. The place was neat and offered outdoor seating. We sat for awhile and we got no service so we flagged down the owner JL, he was very nice, courteous, and attentive. The menu selections was large, food was good and portion sizes were good as well. The reason for the 4 stars are because the service was lacking and the servers were limited in English. I was glad that my friend understood or else I would have been lost. I think given time, they will iron out the problems and have it running smoothly. read more

Service was horrible. The food was good could have been better, our server brought out all wrong orders not sure if she was new or just didn't care to work here based of her attitude. Our family go to when ordering pickup at the point. A lot of options on the menu. Don't order the Mexican pancakes to go, that's a dish that needs to be eaten at the restaurant, by the time you get home all the ingredients are soaked into the pancake changing texture and taste. read more

I am the type of person who does not like to try new restaurants. I like to stick to what I know, but I am so happy that I decided to try this place. The service and staff was the best! mind you this was a Saturday afternoon and they were busy and I got my food very fast. My server Denisse was so sweet and kind! she was very attentive. I will get straight to the point. Good service and Good food. We have come here twice and both times have been consistent. Love the pancakes, great crepes and love the funnel cake breakfast. The coffee is strong and the service is fast ! Maybe because they drink the coffee lol. Either way we love this place and will be back any time we get a chance. I unfortunately did not take pictures of my food because I went straight to eating. read more

I was a bit skeptical at first, but once I arrived and saw the owner roasting his own beans outside, my concerns were quickly put to rest. Overall, the coffee shop is great. The baristas are always friendly and helpful, and even though the place is often busy and packed, their customer service never falters. As for the drinks, I can only speak to their espresso and basic coffee, but in that area, they do not disappoint. While I don't think the roast is quite as good as Beacon, it is a very strong second in the area. Whenever I'm in Oxnard, I don't hesitate to stop by Dolce Vita for a great caffeinated drink.

I was merely a road-battered pilgrim, six hours removed from Oakland, washed ashore near the freeway at the velvet fringe of Ventura County, in that glossy new development called The Collection, where every building looks as though it was approved by a committee whose mission statement was: Let there be ambient lighting and retail optimism. My dinner choices arrived like mildly desperate contestants in a televised pageant. Cheesecake Factory told me the wait would be twenty-five minutes and that they would text me. Reader, I assume that text is now trapped in a ravine somewhere, being nursed back to health by quail. Then there was some steak place whose name dissolved from memory before I finished looking at it. So into Lazy Dog I wandered, hungry, tired, spiritually fragile, and very open to persuasion. And I have to admit: the place has a certain charm. From the back at night, Lazy Dog is weirdly enchanting. The warm lights, the patio glow, the bottles shining through the bar, the whole thing looks like a lodge designed by someone who wanted to seduce exhausted motorists into believing life is still full of promise. Yet the actual entrance is oddly easy to miss. The restaurant is basically playing hard to get. A chain restaurant with mystery. A flirt. A woodland princess in practical shoes. Inside, the vibe is part upscale sports bar, part polished suburban den, part "let's make everyone from picky teenagers to diet-conscious moms to semi-hungover road warriors feel included." Buffalo Wild Wings, but after therapy, better lighting, and a semester abroad. The seating is not what I would call voluptuous. You are not sinking into a cloud of velvet mercy here. But the room is lively, social, and good-humored. It hums in that specific modern way that says yes, you may order tacos, noodles, a burger, or a cocktail with fruit in it, and no one will judge your lack of culinary allegiance. The cocktail situation was fun. I had the raspberry sangria, which tasted less like old-world wine-country sophistication and more like Hawaiian Punch got hired by a vineyard. It was bright, sweet, cheerful, and only slightly ridiculous. A prom queen in a stemmed glass. I did not hate it. I also did not see God. 3/5. Service was reliable, friendly, and sincere, which in today's dead-eyed hospitality landscape feels almost mystical. No fake grandeur, no attitude, no emotional frostbite. Just kind, competent people doing their jobs without making me feel like an interruption in their evening. That deserves respect. The menu is broad enough to make you nervous. Burgers, Italian-ish things, Thai-ish things, tacos, bowls, pizza, noodles, probably a diplomatic treaty if you ask politely. Usually a menu this sprawling suggests culinary panic. But Lazy Dog somehow lands on the right side of chaos. Not transcendent, not revolutionary, but steady in a way that is more useful than many trendier places would like to admit. The fried hard-boiled deviled eggs were the surprise star. In theory, this is the kind of appetizer that sounds like America whispering, "What if we made the picnic more reckless?" In practice: very good. Crispy outside, creamy inside, faintly absurd, and impossible not to admire. 4.5/5. The shrimp tacos were also solid. Bright, fresh, avocado doing its usual California diplomacy, pickled onions bringing color and sass, and the whole plate looking just photogenic enough to make younger foodie civilians feel seen by the algorithm. 4.3/5. The shrimp Thai noodles were decent too. Not an oracle, not a revelation, not the kind of dish that makes monks ring bells in the mountains, but flavorful and more than respectable after a long drive. 3.8/5. That may be Lazy Dog's real strength. It is not trying to be a sacred culinary temple guarded by tattooed sommeliers and fermented foams. It is trying to be open late, fun, dependable, and welcoming enough to make a tired traveler feel the night still has one last good chapter in it. And after six hours in the car, that is not nothing. That is grace with parking. So no, this is not the hidden gastronomic throne of Oxnard. But it is a lively, late-night, good-energy landing pad with charming exterior glow, sincere service, fun drinks, and better food than a cynic might expect. Would I come back? Absolutely. Mostly because Lazy Dog fed me, comforted me, and acknowledged the passage of time, which is more than I can say for Cheesecake Factory. Also, points for being open until midnight, because some places close early as if adulthood itself should have a curfew. Lazy Dog, by contrast, understands the nocturnal needs of the weary, the under-caffeinated, the gossip-prone, and the mildly glamorized freeway drifter still chasing one last decent meal before surrendering to hotel-sheet oblivion.

Absolutely loved this place! The ranchero eggs with soy chorizo are outstanding--perfectly cooked, full of bold flavor, and incredibly satisfying without being heavy. I recently visited this restaurant and was not impressed. The food tasted as if it had been reheated in a microwave, and the bacon was severely overcooked--definitely not worth the high prices. Additionally, I noticed they chose to close on a Monday to make a political statement, which I found disappointing. Perhaps if they focused on lowering their prices and improving food quality, they might attract more customers. So many better choices out there. Service and food are subpar at best. read more
