I don't know her name but who ever was working at 1:15pm on 3/24 needs to find a new job. I wouldn't be writing this review if this only happened once, but this person has routinely been rude and has the worst customer service. In the past she has refused to open the kitchen because there weren't enough customers, or because she forgot to set everything up prior to opening the store. I hate writing reviews that call people out on their poor behavior, but she has consistently been a poor performer. I have been going to Dragonfly Tea Bar since I was in high school and it remains one of my favorite boba shops in OC. It is the perfect relaxing environment to do work or hw at (plus they are open pretty late which helps when you are trying to cram as much done in one night). It is always a very clean spot and there is a good amount of seating despite the shop being on the smaller size. The service here is always nice and friendly and accommodate to any changes you may add to a drink. I have tried a wide variety of drinks but my favorites are their Blueberry Slush, Coconut Blend, and Lychee Slush. The drinks here are the perfect amount of sweet and with so many options there is something for everyone here. The fries here are also so amazing every single time. We usually do mild seasoning and even that can get a bit spicy but it is so delicous and elevates their fries even more. I definitely recommend stopping by and picking those up. Have been living up the street from here for 3 years and finally decided to try it out the week I was moving to the other side of OC. So glad I did, BF and I loved everything we tried (we ended up coming 4 times before we moved). Had the mangome, coco taro, almond crush, twisted colada. Love it all! I've been coming here for years. One of my favorite tea spots in the area. They've gone through a slight interior face lift. Decent amount of seating inside, just a little cramped. They have this elevated area with horigotatsu style seating. Lounge pillows and low tables with a little shelf for you to leave your shoes in. Big fan of their drinks and food here. One of the better options for late night snacks too. Their food menu is pretty impressive for a boba joint. Popcorn chicken, crispy tofu or mango crispy tofu, fries, etc. Lots of drink options. My personal favorite is their Sunset Tea option to have it with black or green tea. Their milk teas are also good. I love how their kitchen is still open after 10PM unlike other places. My only irk about this place is the order / pick up counter. It doesn't flow well and it gets really really crowded up front. Other than that, still a fan. read more

Okay Marla is not the friendliest person; she is very off putting. I was gonna study here and get food while I'm in class. But I literally left after I got my drinks, because she's rude and I didn't want to go back up and order food from her. That's how annoyed I am. I saw the big sign behind the counter. "Buy one boba milk tea, get the second for 50 cents". So.... I ordered a golden milk tea and a jasmine milk tea thinking the jasmine would be 50cents. I went back up and asked her why my order was $9.70. And it was the most awkward and unhelpful conversation that lasted way longer than it needed to. She ended up ringingm me up for 3 drinks. She, nor the sign, didn't specify that it had to be two golden milk teas. It literally says "boba milk tea" which to a customer.. is any milk tea with boba. Like what??????? So confusing. I have honestly never been so disappointed in a boba/tea place before. I am giving 1 star due to the quality of the drinks, the set up of the place, and the loud and wild crowd that attracts here. The employees seemed nice as I watched them take a lot of orders and popped out those drinks like there was no tomorrow. I went with a group of friends since one of them had suggested it and their late night hours were a plus. I had seen other Dragonfly tea bars on Yelp in other locations but have never been to one. We arrived in "Saddleback Plaza" about 11:30 PM with multiple businesses and many parking spaces, and as I walked towards the shop, it's extremely tiny and extremely packed inside and not a single person wearing a mask, not that it's required, but too close for comfort for my preference. Staff are wearing masks though. All tables/chairs/stools/booths were taken up with a lot of friends squished together and the noise volume was pretty loud and people were kind of rowdy which definitely isn't up my alley or my type of crowd. It really did feel like "high school" in there how we used to go out in groupies and be as loud as possible wherever we ate/drank and hung out. Maybe this location is good for a younger crowd if you're into that? The "line" to order drinks is just the middle walkway of the whole place which was like a sliver of space where everyone is also walking in and out shoving past you as you're standing in line. You'd need to press yourself up against the side or just continuously move over to create room while standing in line. I didn't make time to take a picture of the whole place upon walking in because I was just too uncomfortable and wanted to be in and out asap. I ordered my usual Honey milk tea with a green tea base with light ice and grass jelly. Friends ordered brown sugar milk tea with boba, thai tea, sunset tea (passion fruit/peach) with lychee jelly & paradise smoothie (mango/pineapple/orange) with boba. Everyone stuck their straws in and took a sip before I tried mine. According to friends, the brown sugar milk tea tasted just like powdery milk and barely a hint of brown sugar even after mixing it together. They were unable to finish the drink because it was almost nauseating and got to about halfway through their large size before tossing it. The paradise smoothie tasted like candy, but still felt pre-made, powdery and artificial. She said the boba was a little better than the drink itself and had a normal, soft, chewy consistency. The thai tea had a very light orange color and just tasted like milk as well with barely a hint of thai tea. A sip was taken and he automatically did not like the flavor because it just wasn't a true thai tea flavor. We went back to the register to have it remade, but was told that everything is pretty much pre-made (the pre-made mixtures could be seen behind them) and can't guarantee it will taste any different really, so he just got the sunset tea as well without any toppings. He took a sip and did say it tasted better than the thai tea, but still wasn't that great or fresh and ended up not finishing the drink. I tried my honey green milk tea with grass jelly which I get at basically every place I go to. The honey was still sitting at the bottom so it took a little while for me to shake it up and infuse it with the rest of the drink. The flavor just tasted like milk (just like the other drink) with a hint of sweetness from the honey. The consistency of the grass jelly was not that slick smooth desirable texture, but slightly course and gritty at times. I did drink the entire thing although it wasn't my favorite at all, but I did just want the jelly at the bottom. The most positive review out of all the drinks was the sunset tea with lychee jelly. It was refreshing with the fruity flavors all there and the jelly was perfectly fine like any other lychee jelly. Unfortunately, everyone around the table looked disappointed and we kind of regretted going here. I did expect more from this place after seeing how packed it was especially having late night hours. There are tons of other tea shops that serve fresh drinks that taste fantastic upon that first sip, or they'll gladly remake it to your liking. Sadly, I will not be coming back here to this location as there are many many other higher quality places. read more

Good music, good tea, good prices ! I enjoy getting my boba tea and hanging out with friends here. I like how they're open till 1 because it gives me and my friends ample amount of time. There is a cute little area to study and they even have a printer! However I would say there is absolutely NO space once this place gets busy so it makes it hard for social distancing. For just the drinks, Dragonfly is your average Asian "Starbucks." This may not be totally impressive, but this is a nice place to hang out. The teas are okay, but the boba is fresh. The smoothies and fruit teas are actually very tasty and a great go-to if you are indecisive. You'll find many folks with your laptops, thus if you're alone you may even feel more alone. Dragonfly Tea Bar is the perfect place to go to for a late night boba craving. I love the ambience this shop gives off! The teas are what you would expect from a classic boba shop. Nothing unique, but decent staple tea/boba drinks. I do want to mention that by saying "decent drinks", I mean teas that aren't super flavorful and are quite sweet. I myself prefer my tea to have a bold taste and to have the option to adjust the sweetness without having the milk/sugar overpower the tea itself. I don't feel like this shop delivers that but nonetheless, if it's late and my usual tea shops are closed, I always go to Dragonfly. The food is also pretty decent if you're craving something salty next to your drink. This place is amazing ! My friends and I were craving boba after prom, and we were lucky to fins this place since it is open until 3 AM. The vibe is very hipster with paintings and Christmas lights. The menus are conveniently right by the entrance and they were easy to read, pictures and all. My friends and I tried the rocket shrimp, the mango tofu, the mango chicken, French fries, the Lavender Milk Tea Boba, the Piña colada smoothie, the strawberry almond smoothie, the coco almond smoothie, and the lychee smoothie. All of the food w/ the sauces tastes great. The fries on the other hand were a little weird. I asked for mild spice and it was the type to burn your lips instead of your tongue. Went there for the first time yesterday. It's 20 min away from where I live but it's worth it. The atmosphere is chill, seats are comfy, cashiers are kind and attentive, and you get a free macaron when you order a drink. Most cafés close around 8-9, but this café closes at 1am. It's an oasis for night owls like me. I also like that they don't blast AC when it's cold unlike other coffee shops. I wish I knew this place sooner. read more

The only convient part of this place is that they open the latest out of all boba shops. I think it was until 4 am? If any other places were open that late I wouldn't mind the drive. I ordered honey green milk tea tonight. It tasted really watery and inconsistent from the other times. It's only been a handful of times that I came here and ordered milk tea not to mention how sweet it was last time.. The boba here is nothing to scream about. I mean its chewy and has texture at least but no flavor whatsoever to it. Plain as Jane if you ask me! Add some brown sugar or honey or something!
