We decided to try this place for brunch. Overall the location is great! Loved sitting outside in the front people watching and just relaxing. The service was great. Each team member was so nice and helpful. Overall just sweet people. The food on the other hand was only okay to us. Lacked flavor big time. Very bland. I tried the crab cake Benedict and my friend had the Elvis. I typically am all for trying places twice but honestly it's not worth the drive. My family and I had a great experience at Dream cafe. We came in on a Sunday morning, I was already expecting to wait for a table since it was pretty crowded already and we did not have a reservation but we got sat right away. It was cute and lively, the food was delicious, especially the sky waffle, and most of all I want to shout out Gregory, the manager for this friendliness and hospitality. So here's the deal, I've visited the Dream Cafe several times before writing this review. It's a fave for lots of people I know. But for me it's *good* not *great*. STAR 1. SERVICE The staff deserves 5 stars on their own. Really cool people with positive vibes. The gentleman who welcomed me at the door was flyy AF (black and white pattern on pattern outfit with blue hair) and had some serious hustle about him. I assume he was the manager on duty because he was the only one without the standard "Dream Cafe" shirt on. He sat me really quickly. They have indoor and outdoor seating - I chose to sit outdoors. Ezekiel waited on me. SUPER SWEET . Very attentive and helpful. STAR 2. FRESH JUICES I love the juices here. Fresh pressed and tasty. I had the *Cold Elixir* which had turmeric in it (I've dramatically increased my turmeric intake since the 2020 onslaught of COVID) and it was well worth it. They also have a variety of smoothies that I've also tried at other visits. I've enjoyed all of the drinks that I've chosen. STAR 3. HEALTHY OPTIONS Dream Cafe is a great place for vegetarians and carnivores to come together. There is a gluten free menu as well!! CON: FLAVOR If you've read any of my other reviews, you already know that I'm a stickler for seasonings. It's not my fault. Blame my African ancestors. They are picky AF and be complaining via my tastebuds. The food is bland. I ordered the 90210, a vegetarian Benedict made of artichokes, poached egg and tomatoes. It's not disgusting. It's cooked well - as in perfect temperature, well toasted English Muffin, and well grilled vegetables. I ate it with no need to send it back. But I kept dreaming of racing to my cabinet to grab some onion powder, garlic salt, or SOMETHING to sprinkle on it and improve that flavor profile. I've felt this way about multiple dishes here, so I feel comfy saying that seasoning may not be a priority for Dream, and not everybody cares for it like I do. ‍ CON: VIBE Dream has a LOT of potential to be a legit vibe. Anything with a patio is already a win. There was no music playing (at least outside) and there are some quick decor changes that could take the ambiance up a tick. If you're thinking of paying Dream Cafe a visit, I'd say go!! Check them out. I'm pretty picky about certain things, but you may go and find that you have an entirely different experience and opinion than mine. If nothing else, I can 100% vouch for the juices and the service. Beat the rush on a Sunday morning at 10 am, but we had to sit outside under the heaters. Ordered a regular mimosa, Diet Coke and coffee plus our entrees all at the same time. Mimosa came within a couple of minutes, entrees arrived less than 10 minutes after--made us wonder if they were really ours. Waitress arrived several minutes later with the drinks and was surprised we had our food already. Hash browns were under seasoned, Crab cakes Benedict were mediocre and under seasoned. The Monte Cristo was good and I really enjoyed it but my boyfriend got the Mile High Omelette and it did not even look appealing when it was delivered to us. He went to break it up and there was no cheese inside. His whole meal was very bland and lacked flavor. You would be better off ordering something else off the menu. This is in an old building, it seemed so it didnt seem as clean as I would have liked. We had a short wait, and it was cold outside so the small indoor waiting area was not cutting it. It was making it a little too cramped....if this would have been during pandemic, man it would have been bad. You get a record as a place holder when you get your name on the list which I thought was unique. There was a cute out door area with a playground for the kids and tables for people to enjoy dining out there as well. We got our food pretty quickly, although the service was just kinda rushed and the waiter was not too eager on having conversation. Overall food was good. I cannot really recommend this cafe to any meat-eaters as my meat eater best friend wasn't satisfied. He actually hated the food and wished they would be more generous with the portion size of his meal. He was very surprised to find out that the vegan meal portion was enormous. Yes, you got that right, I ordered the "You're so Vegan" dish and with the name already shouting that I was a label. Honestly, I wasn't expecting much for my meal, maybe a small cup full of rice, beans, and tofu scrambled. But to my surprise, the plate was loaded. Usually, I don't eat breakfast due to it doesn't fill me up and not having any leftovers to eat. It wasn't packed with flavor, but good with salt and pepper. The rice and beans were bland. I wished the tofu scrambled was marinated in some sauce since it was bland. I am not sure what brand of soy cheeze they used, but it was delicious. However, our service sucked. Our waitress with the red hair wasn't too please to serve us, although whenever her friend came in to sit next to us, she was smiling ear to ear. Ya'll this lot was $25! for a weekend day - THAT IS HIGH as a giraffe's behind! or am I low-key cheap? Anyway I forgot to take pics. The tacos weren't bad but were pretty average and I wish they'd come with more than one spoonful of the toppings considering it's $12 for two small tacos. I ordered a mimosa and my hunk of a man ordered a bacon Bloody Mary. When they brought the mimosa I was amazed at the presentation! They freeze the juice into cubes and bring a GIANT glass or champagne with it. You add the ice cubes of juice so you control how much juice you want. I thought this was a stroke of genius!!! My man said his Bloody Mary was beyond delicious and the bacon was a perfect addition. I ordered the 90210 Benedict and my man ordered the country Benedict. I've been coming here for years bringing friends, ex girlfriend's, wife, and now even baby daughter. Not sure why I never reviewed this great gem. My. Motivation this afternoon was the 3.5 star rating this place has. The their brunch menu is excellent, their customer service has always been great, the selection is abundant. The patio outdoor dinning is also a great place to sit especially during these times. I know dallas always wants the latest and greatest but don't count this place out. The FYI with fruit, currants, pecans and yogurt was everything we wanted it to be Too often with mixed fruit plates, you run into one of the fruits being mushy or unripe but not the case. They were thoughtful to put the yogurt in its own container given take out - much appreciated! The Santa Fe omelette with pesto, sundrieds and goat cheese was SO GOOD!! Right balance of goodies in each bite. The Cloud Cakes... oh my!!! With the strawberries and whipped cream, these ricotta pancakes were everything. We do a lot of take out and find breakfast joints often really struggle with it. They got everything right, including sides like butter, syrup, jam etc that are easy to leave off a take out order. Picking up, they had it ready on time (within ten minutes!). Inside is small and a little tight. Everyone masked but not sure I would eat inside during COVID era. Booths I saw looked a bit weathered.
