I went in for an oil change and two new tires. I had a coupon for each. I showed my coupons before they took my vehicle. I didn't notice the coupon was for 4 tires and apparently neither did they. After they called me to get my car, they provided me a quote for more than $2,100 telling me I had 7 critical issues. Only then did they tell me my coupon for tires couldn't be used. I paid full price for the tires, as I should, but paid over $100 in extra tire fees. They told me I needed a new battery but I had replaced my battery less than a year ago. My total bill was almost $200 more than I expected to pay. Update: I had a nice conversation with the location manager, Luis. He addressed all of my concerns and is working with me. I Scheduled Service at this Kwik Kar online for a vehicle inspection (emissions test). When I showed up, they said it would be an hour and a half wait. I told them I had an appointment time and they said, "You can't schedule an appointment in Texas for a vehicle inspection - it's illegal." I asked where it said that on their website. They ignored the question and added, "It's a $500 fine." I finally left, went down the road and got the check done at a Kwik Kar in about 15 minutes. I looked in the Texas Administrative Code, Title 37, Chapter 23 and the word "appointment" does not appear anywhere. I should have gone back and asked them if they are taught to lie in training for their positions behind the desk or if they do it on their own. I WON'T BE BACK. I had my catalytic converter replaced at Driver's Edge in Flower Mound in February of 2024 and it failed 3 times, which I'm currently dealing with the 3rd failure right now. After the 2nd replacement (which has a two year warranty or 24,000 miles) is when I asked if it was an OEM part and they informed me that it wasn't. I would have requested that initially if I was told they were ordering an aftermarket part, but wasn't given that option or informed of it. I paid a total of $1,119.49 after the coupon was applied on 2/23/24 (initial price of $1,462.45). I called the location earlier this week and let Louis know that it has failed again and my engine light is on. We previously discussed that if I wanted the OEM part then l'd have to pay the difference between the price of the OEM part and the aftermarket, which they stated was $700.00. That was IF I wanted to rather than replace with another aftermarket. I was informed that even though the part is still under warranty that I HAVE to pay the $700 to get it replaced and that's my only option. He then said "well, we already replaced it for you three times", which they should because it's under warranty and is not my fault. He then told me that his manager told him last time that I HAD to purchase the OEM part if it failed again, which is not true because I asked what the difference would be. This is exactly why I recorded all calls with them after the first one failed. The warranty does not state where that after 3 failed aftermarket parts, that I HAVE to pay the difference for the OEM part. Although we wouldn't even be having this issue right now, if I was given the option in informed that I could just purchase the OEM part to begin with. I am constantly made to feel like I'm a problem for calling them about it. I called a different location and spoke to another manager who informed me that the OEM part is actually the same price as they charged me for the aftermarket so he's not sure why they didn't get the OEM part initially and confused on why I have to pay $700 additionally to have it replaced again while still under warranty. I paid for a service and my car is still not repaired over a year later and is currently not able to even start at this point. Honestly, I hate to made to feel like I am the problem when I call them about an issue. It's the principle of the matter and I just want my car fixed just like the service I paid for over a year ago. This is ridiculous. The amount of stress I've had to deal with is beyond ridiculous. Their communication definitely needs to improve significantly. read more

3 times in a row we have experienced made up issues that did not exist before hand. Yesterday my wife brought here car in for an oil change. Car was fine except for change oil soon light. After effect was TPMS light was in all of a sudden and the struts needed to be replaced. Tire sensors were fine before visit. They are on right now after the visit... My mother brought her car in a couple months ago for same. Guess what her struts needed replacing too... They had no way of knowing our cars belonged to the same household and somehow had same issue diagnosed despite no issues before hand. In April we took my wife's car in for an inspection. I came before they called and said we had a coolant leak and needed a flush. No issues before hand, but issue after inspection. I declined the service and bought coolant to refill. Miracle no coolant leak despite nothing being done besides refilling the coolant they drained. Also coolant leak did not come up during oil change visit. Bad deal here! Used to be a trustworthy place. Lately it's about finding issues and upsells for ancillary items. Both cars that visited had less then 50k miles and somehow issues that didn't exist beforehand popped up during their inspection. Stay away. Criminal I think! read more

Came here to get my wheels balanced and potentially rotated. Found out I had offset wheels so I could not rotate them, but wanted to get them balanced again. Found out my rear tires were basically bald and my front ones were splitting between the tread on the front and replaced them, but the guys didn't even bother removing/adding correct wheel weights. My L/F and L/R wheels have absolutely no wheel weights on it, R/R has 8 and R/F has 16 on it. They were quick to sell me tires, but not fix my actual problem. I needed wheel weights corrected too. With the unevenness of wheel weights, it will cause uneven wear on my tires, make them wear down faster and itll cause vibration that gradually gets worse. Real cheap and easy thing to do, especially considering all of the wheels were off the car, but just like any other company or business around, just heads looking to collect a paycheck that have no actual drive for their career or to do things the correct way. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt, but being a mechanic myself, there's just no way with those wheels off, the number of wheel weights per wheel didn't get noticed. I'm continuously showed by society to not let other people touch my vehicle. Can't trust they'll do the whole job and do it correctly, even if it's small things. read more

I used to like the business a lot, but a recent interaction has left a bad taste in my mouth. I went in for a state inspection. My car gave no codes beforehand and was running normally. The inspection was completed quickly, but I was given a laundry list of suggested repairs. Laughably, one was my engine air filter, but I replaced that with an oil change within the last 3 months. I took the list of suggestions to review and complete at home, but driving out of the parking lot my car immediately threw a code. At idle, it was suddenly dipping and surging. It got to the point that as I was accelerating from a stop, if an engine surge happened my car would quite literally lurch forward. Super dangerous. When I got home and read the codes, it indicated an O2 sensor swap. I called and asked Driver's Edge why they would have touched my O2 sensors and why I would be getting that code after a successful state inspection, and they were incredibly condescending without offering any solutions. There wasn't even a "whoa, that's not right, bring it back and let's look at it." It's like the second I told them "no thank you" to the recommended repairs, they didn't want me back in the shop. Either the car had codes beforehand and they passed it fraudulently, or something was done improperly while they were digging around in my engine bay that caused the codes. We popped the hood and looked when I got home, not seeing anything amiss at first. I did go ahead and purchase new O2 sensors and spark plugs--my car is older, so it's not completely out of the realm of reality for those to have needed replacement. However, even after replacing those parts, the idle still lugged and lurched. Worse, my gas mileage declined drastically. We checked under the hood again and found the culprit: my air box was not properly closed when Driver's Edge inspected my air filter and claimed I needed a new one. This means not only did my car computer read incorrect airflow, but who knows what debris and gunk flowed into my engine the few days this went unresolved. Miraculously, after PROPERLY sealing the air box, my car runs perfectly again. No surges. No dips. Gas mileage back to normal. It's eerily convenient that I "needed" so many things replaced and then got exactly the codes that would make me think this shop was right. However, considering my gas mileage and engine performance were perfectly fine before the inspection, and the fact that I passed the inspection (meaning NO CODES), I don't believe the parts I replaced made as much of a difference as the open air box. Thank goodness we have car sense at home. I thought I would just go for a no-nonsense inspection at Driver's Edge, but it seems like they were hoping I could be manipulated into getting more work done than I really needed. Definitely be wary when you go for routine things here, do your research on your car beforehand and pay attention to how it drives. Otherwise, you might be paying for things you didn't need. read more

Avoid the Driver's Edge location on Morriss Rd at all costs. TLDR: I have reason to believe one or more of the employees are engaged in fraud. I have physical evidence showing that they damaged my car in order to perform unnecessary repairs, and management is covering for the employees involved. DETAILS: I brought my truck in to repair a coolant leak. My wife was due to give birth at any moment, so I was desperate to have a working vehicle. I explained my situation, and they agreed to take my truck the next morning. I got a call shortly after dropping it off, and an employee told me that there was a hole in my thermostat housing unit. I gave the go ahead on the repair (about $1k total, which was not unreasonable price for the work done). I came to pick up the truck that afternoon, and started talking with the employee at the front desk. Before I left, I asked him if the mechanic ever found out what caused a hole in my thermostat housing unit. The front desk employee offered to go get my part from the shop. The front desk employee brought out my part, and there was a very small hole on the exterior, but the interior hole looked very strange. The metal around the hole was clean and shiny and sunken in like a perfect crater. We both just looked at it and puzzled as to what could cause it. I got home and kept looking at it, and it occured to me that it looked exactly like somebody had drilled a hole from the inside-out right until it began to poke through the other side. It even has a burr, which suggests it was drilled. This is part of a closed internal system, so you would need to take the car apart to drill a hole in that spot. At that point, I began to suspect somebody in the shop damaged my part to justify an unecessary repair (I imagine the gasket failed, but they wanted to replace the whole housing unit). But, I've never experienced this, and I wanted to be sure before making such a serious accusation. I contacted another mechanic shop in the area and sent a video of the part. They agreed that it appeared that the part was drilled out with a drill bit (guy said he was a loss for words). Every person I showed the part to--family, friends--agreed. Then, I contacted the manager of this location. He explained that he was out of town the weekend my car was repaired (no suprise shenanigans took place when he was out of town). But, he has known the mechanic that was in charge for years and he would never do this. He said he would investigate and get back to me the next day. I emailed him the video of the part. Next day, no call. I emailed the manager requesting that he confirm receipt of the video. At the end of the second day, still no word, so I called just before closing. The manager reiterated that he trusts the mechanic in question. I asked him what he thought caused the hole based on the video - he said he believes the part "rusted out." He could have said "I don't know," but to say that after seeing the video (which makes it clear that rust COULD NOT BE THE CAUSE) indicates to me that the manager is involved in concealing the fraud (maybe just to help out a friend who is in trouble). He said I would have to take it up with corporate going forward. I asked when I should hear from corporate, and he said they should have already reached out. A week later now, and still no word from the corporate office. I really, really hate to make a fuss and cost somebody their job, but this conduct is beyond the pale. I told the manager I was willing to entertain any reasonable explanation. He failed to do so. Needless to say, I will never go here again, and now I feel I must warn others in the community. There are plenty of local options - don't risk entrusting your vehicle to people like this. read more

It is rare when an auto repair shop tells you that your car DOESN'T need the repair for which you brought it in - that happened to me. Over the past year, I had been told that I would 'soon' need new brakes by a Nissan dealership and by an auto repair shop that did my inspection. Since brakes are kind of important, I decided to stop by Driver's Edge to check them out and get a quote. They told me I didn't need new brakes! Have had it before, but at higer speeds. Now, with new tires its coming on at around 40 mph. Came in and told.them the problemz and the the guy at that counter says yea, we had a jeep with same issue. Ok, i am skepitcal, because i have had this jeep and have had problems sience i ordered it from Toledo. On and off. Sometimes it is fixed with new tires. But this time they are new tires. This place has outrageous prices!!! $100 for a full synthetic oil change blew my mind. I normally just do the $50 full synthetic at Walmart but was willing to pay an extra couple bucks for a clean waiting room, good service, and coffee. Wish I knew it was a $50 cup of coffee up front. On my way out, the counter guy recommended I look for their coupons in the mail next time so I can get it for around $80 next time. I recommend they have some Vaseline in their waiting room. After posting this review, they called me to apologize. Honestly I appreciate the service. And the guy did knock down the price after I complained. Driver's Edge can almost always get me in to service my truck. I have learned to ask whether their mechanics are close to their weekly hour limit. If they are, chances are you won't get in. I don't understand this process, but it's not my shop. I've found the quality of service to be good and reliable. We will continue to use them. read more

Bearded bald gentlemen checked me in, harassed me about why I was only doing an oil change, and not doing the 60K service, I replied I have a garage for that, he was instantly annoyed and condescending towards me a few times while I was waiting. I brought my vehicle in as the Check Engine light had come on. I was called and explained that one of my ignition coils was bad. It is their practice to replace all ignition coils if one was found faulty. The full price to replace all four ignition coils and spark plugs (I guess that's required too?) was over $700. I asked if I could only have the single coil replaced instead and was told that wasn't an option. In the end I decided it was too high of a price and learned how to replace my own ignition coil in less than 15 minutes for about $45. While I'm thankful for the opportunity to learn I doubt that this is a good customer experience and would not recommend Driver's Edge to others. There are too many alternatives close by and it's best to work with an establishment you feel you can trust. read more

I went to Drivers Edge Auto Repair in flower Mound, Texas for a state vehicle inspection. I have been here in the last three year 8 times for vehicle inspections. Every time I take my vehicle here they work real hard at keeping your car for service. Keep in mind the items that they want to repair are not even broken. I am actually a mechanic, and ASE Certified for a large dealership here in Dallas for the last 28 years. Recently the owner of the Flower Mound Shop rubbed me the wrong way. I generally just agree and go on my way. The vehicle I brought him was just service, and has no issues, and is very well taken care of. After the state inspection Drivers Edge Flower Mound tried what they always try to do and told me the vehicle needed some critical work done, and they can take care of it. I thought to my self, these guys are so stupid to not consider who they may be talking to. I told them NO, and left their facility. I will never go back, they are no Honest, They intentionally RIP people off to increase their profit, what a shame. This place needs to close down! read more

This is a response to Jeffery G a business manager for Drivers Edge. This shop more than failed. They left me with the knowledge that no matter what the issue, they would not be capable of doing the work and at an expense far above the average in the area. I reference the engine check light and that it was suggested the plugs were the problem. I decided before I would go back, I would have an independent engine check. In fact the plugs were the issue. I was told that Jeep's don't particularly work with autolite plugs. Your shop put in the cheapest plugs (probably $4 retail). I felt that if I brought the car back to your shop they would replace with the same plugs and if they had to put a better plug in I would end up paying the difference. Since they charged $16.50 for the cheap ones what would the champions or NGK's cost over the base. So I decided to have the other shop put in the correct plugs at a cost of $12 per plug and $60 labor....$108.00 plus tax verses the $237.96 I was charged for the same work. Of courese your guy at the shop would justify the $129.96 as overhead for the location. I found that response to be condescending and rude!! I stand by my yelp review and hope others will at least shop before they trust that location. They would save a bunch of money and get better service. Which if you saw; when I brought the car in it was also having starter problems. Again I was told that the head tech would be able to find issues even without the computer monitor. The motor went out 3 days later and it was found to have a crack and bad wires! That doesn't take a computer to find...only a good tech that actually looks at the motor. Tells me he never even addressed the problem. All the shop wanted was to do was overcharge for plugs and some kind of induction service. This shop is a "ripoff" to the consumer. read more

Got out of there and saved a ton. This time, I was diagnosed with needing a catalytic converter for my 1998 Silverado. Parts and labor price? $2100!!! Needless to say I bolted out of there and went to B & B Mufflers in Carrollton where the work was done in one hour for $198 Parts and labor! My new experience with my car repair Driver's Edge, Allen, TX is a bad place. Never go there. My car's driver side brakes were locked up one day and smoke was coming from the front tire. Also loud noise was coming. I had to go to nearest Driver's edge. The man in charge was J. Torregano one of the worst people I have ever seen. He said that he needs 2 days to repair it. On the second day he said that, calipers need to be replaced. And front right axle need to be replaced since the ring that gives the speed reading to the ABS system is broken. I agreed for him to repair it. He charged me $983.62 When I went there, I was still seeing ABS light as well as red light on right bottom of my dash. When I showed him, he tried with his mechanic and said that he needs another day to fix it. He charged me another $751.12 and I paid. I took the car home. But next day again the car was locked up in the right front wheel again and smoke was coming from the tire. Called him again and asked him to towe the car to his shop. Next day he calls me and says he may have to replace the ABS module and it costs $3900. He gave me the car, advising not to drive it. He said brakes are not working because of ABS module. Now I realized that, car is in bad shape and these guys are behind the $4000 for ABS. I was looking at my community's whatsapp messages and saw someone mentioning Kwik Kar at Craig's Ranch is good. Called the shop and Wade Moore answered. He told me to bring the car next morning. Next morning I told him the story and told him to fix it. His first answer was that if the brakes are locking up, it is the problem with hydraulic system. He also suggested to go back to Driver's edge and get it done since I have already paid them. I told him that I have lost hope with them. He agreed to repair after analyzing. He called me later that day and told me that whoever replaced the calipers did not do the job right. He has to replace brake pads, rotors and calipers and need to realign tires which totals 1060.I agreed and next morning I got a call from another guy(Aaron) telling me that ABS module is broken and he can show me what he is saying.I went with him to the shop.He said he has a 2nd hand ABS module which he can get me next monday for $2400.I said I am not interested.I asked him if I can drive the car and he said that it is too dangerous to drive the car. I still insisted to show me with the mechanic. Mechanic tried and tried but no ABS light was coming up and brakes were working as expected. I brought home the car. It was working better than before. Next day I went to Kwik Kar to thank Wade. I also told him that I am making an article and want to use his name. He agreed. After coming back I saw that ABS light was on and red light was also on on the dash. Now I realized that I have fixed half the puzzle. But after sometime running the engine, if I restart, ABS light goes away and everything works nice. The lesson I learnt is that, don't be rash on the brakes. Its a hydraulic system. It needs time for the oil to heat up and work as expected. Now I always run the engine for few mins before taking car for a drive. After that I restart the car and ABS light goes away and car works like brand new. this was my second tine coming to them for a state inspection. Nothing on my car had changed since I last came to them and I wasted an hour of time waiting just for them to tell me my window tint was 19% instead of 20% . Last year they didnt tell me anything and signed my inspection papers. I couldve been pulled over and fined for that whole time because they were irresponsible. this time they wanted to sell me a new battery even though my battery is not even 4 months old.
