    This is banh gio?!!!
    Cati H.

Buying at this place many times but this time I'm so disappointed. I ordered 3 banh gio, 3 banh giay, 2 cha but banh gio are literally old ones. It turned black the day after and the dough were dry!!! Need to throw them all ... My total bill is over $24 and those are not worth. Don't recommend for you guys.

Food is spoiled and cannot be eaten. Bring back to the store for exchange but the owner says "NO"

How could they sell this. It's not fully cooked which is super hard and dry. This banh gio is over night and The meat turned dark. The quality decreases dramatically. Unethical place while selling old for for customers.

Yes. It Is as good as it looks. Pork Cha chien $4

As one can see from my picture, you will come out completely satisfied. What is Cha lua? Cha lua is basically made of pork and the best translation would be Pork Roll. Traditionally, cha lua is made of lean pork, potato starch, garlic, ground black pepper and nuoc mam (fish sauce). The pork here is pounded really well until it becomes a paste and then rolled in banana leaves to be steamed. It is also important to note the pork has to be pounded until it becomes pasty; it cannot be chopped or ground. There are also many types of cha, including my favorite cha chien, which is fried, and cha hue which includes whole black peppercorns. Even though this place is a small mom and pop 10x10 store, they specialize in cha lua, cha chien, and many types of cha. It goes well with banh cuon, white flour crepes, or com tham (broken rice dish), in a banh mi sandwich, with rice, or by itself. A good snack overall. The prices are decent as well as friendly and fast service. Right next to BOILING CRAB, but a BIG hassle to park on weekends. Park in the back if you don't want to waste time looking.

And no, SEN is not a KEI Concepts location! After ordering, we were given our waters in plastic to-go cups, which I thought was a little strange. After our food arrived, there was no check in, no water refills, and you have to go up to the counter to pay. At least its very convenient, streamlined, and efficient! I found the food to have a great depth of flavor, something a lot of pho places lack. I especially liked the wider noodles which offered a nice chew and texture change. Everything was cooked perfectly, and there were plenty of sauces to mix and match if you wanted to spice things up. Definitely worth a visit!

Love that it's a dry rub seasoning topped with minced garlic and green onions instead of a heavy sauce. The portions were perfect too -- rice and wings balanced just right. The pickled veggies were a great tangy side, and the Mama Hieu's sauce that comes with it tied everything together. I ordered over the phone and customer service was friendly. Their store is also very clean! Will definitely be back. Worth the hype!

I knew about their fried chicken, but I didn't know they had chicken sandwiches too. I got the Spicy Vietnamese Chicken Sandwich, 4 wings, and garlic noodles. Tip: If you order through the app, you can skip the wait and get a free garlic noodle. I think it's only for your first order on the app, though, and I'm not sure how long the deal lasts. Wings -- 3/5 The wings were okay, but pretty mediocre. I got one flat and three drumettes, which was a little disappointing. The flavor and crispiness were both kind of lacking, and I ate them fresh too. The seasoning reminded me of that lobster green onion sauce you'd get at a Vietnamese-Chinese restaurant. Spicy Vietnamese Chicken Sandwich -- 4/5 The sandwich was definitely better. The chicken had a good crisp to it, but sadly, it was overfried and wasn't cooked evenly. The edges were noticeably darker than the center, and the chicken itself was thinner than I expected. The sauce didn't taste like anything particularly special either--it was giving spicy mayo, if anything. The vegetables and pickles made the sandwich taste similar to another famous chicken sandwich place. I actually liked it overall, but because the chicken wasn't fried evenly, I'd give it a 4/5. Garlic Noodles The garlic noodles were okay. They definitely had a lot of garlic, but I didn't think the cheese on top was necessary. It kind of ruined it for me. I won't rate this one since it was free, but I probably wouldn't order it again. Service wasn't bad. It was super busy when I went, so I had to wait a little longer than the estimated pickup time. There's ample seating inside, although the AC was kind of lacking. Overall, I'd probably come back for the chicken sandwich and give it another try, especially if a friend wanted to go. I wouldn't really recommend the other items I tried, though.

Be prepared: this place is incredibly popular, especially during peak hours. Parking can definitely be challenging because of how busy it is. The last time I visited on a Monday, the lot was completely full, and I ended up parking on the street. The restaurant is also primarily cash only, so come prepared. They open early, making it a perfect breakfast spot for an early bowl of pho. The pho broth is exactly what I want when I'm craving comfort food--clean, flavorful, and incredibly soothing. However, the star of the meal for me was the chả giò. Wow. Although they arrived after our pho, they came out at the perfect temperature. I was hesitant to take a bite right away because freshly fried food usually burns my mouth, but these were just right. Crispy, airy, savory, and absolutely delicious. Paired with their fish sauce, it was perfection. I enjoyed the egg rolls so much that next time I'm definitely ordering the egg roll vermicelli bowl. Service was friendly and prompt despite how busy it was, and it's clear the staff works hard to keep things moving. One thing I love is seeing all of the awards and accolades displayed on the walls. Phở 79 received the prestigious James Beard America's Classics Award, and it's easy to understand why after one meal here. This restaurant is truly an Orange County icon. The restaurant will soon be moving to a new location, as signs throughout the restaurant announce the upcoming move. While I'll miss the original spot, I'm excited for the new space--hopefully with more parking! Some places are worth the wait, and Phở 79 is absolutely one of them.
