Wife and I were in search of something comforting and soothing for the soul. Sundays just have that type of vibe and Huong Giang delivered exactly what we were looking for. Our families have ordered their banh uot thit nuong (charbroiled pork) and bun bo hue before - but only at their to-go location. This was the first time dining at the restaurant and it's just as delicious! The rice paper on the outside of the banh uot is SO good. It's definitely one of my favorites. I don't think I'd be exaggerating if I said I could finish a whole tray to myself. The rice paper is springy, chewy, and the perfect thickness. The inside is filled with thit nuong, lettuce, bean sprouts, and rau ram (Vietnamese coriander). The order comes with 4 rolls. Their BBH is excellent. My wife and I have been to many different places throughout GG and a lot of the times it's either mediocre at best or mid. Besides our go-to spot for BBH, theirs is pretty good here! Very balanced, not too oily, and generous with the vermicelli. I was personally craving rice, so I ordered their dac biet rice plate which came with 2 different cha lua and thit nuong. It also comes with a small bowl of soup on the side which was perfect. It reminded me of home cooking which was exactly what I wanted. While their menu is fairly limited, they focus on what they're known for and what they're good at. Be careful with your credit card. i went with my wife and son and my wife asked my son to go pay while I went to the restroom. When I came out, my wife and son already went to the car, one of the men told me the we didn't pay because the card my son used didn't go through. So I paid with my credit card and left. When we received the statement, there were 3 charges, 2 on my wife's and one on mine. We made a complaint to Citi card and later were told they called the restaurant and were told all charges were ligit. They said we had to write a letter for further investigation. Huong Giang Restaurant Review - October 2025 Today, my sister-in-law Trang invited a few family members to Huong Giang Restaurant. I haven't been here since 2013. The parking lot is good and has plenty of spaces. We had seven people in our group, and five of us ordered the regular bowl of bún bò Huế. Unfortunately, the broth was cold and lacked the key flavors -- no noticeable cây sả (lemongrass) or other essential ingredients that give the dish its soul. Overall, the taste and quality were not up to standard. It seems the restaurant now focuses more on take-out orders for their main dishes. The elderly staff were not active or engaged, and never asked if we needed anything. We kept raising our hands to get their attention, even though there were fewer than fifteen people in the restaurant, including our group of seven. The air conditioning also had poor circulation, making the dining area uncomfortable. In my opinion, this restaurant no longer delivers the authentic experience it once did. I would not recommend it. Of course, everyone has their own taste and preference -- but for me, a bowl of bún bò Huế must be hot, fragrant, and full of flavor. read more

We always order to go. Usually we would call them ahead of time and order a day before and come pick up the next day. This place is usually busy so wait is always long. If we cannot order the day before, we come early and line up and order. Wait is usually 40-45 mins. The service is like any other Vietnamese restaurant. Straight to the point, order, get your food and pay. If you expect 5 star service, you're at the wrong place. It's always loud being a heavy Asian foot traffic area with all the ppl coming to get their orders or eating there but the to go trays are a good size. We love their banh out thit nuong. Always a hit and yummy to have at parties but a bit pricey. For us, it's a once in a while thing. Just know the plaza is always busy and parking is always a struggle. The foods here are very consistent. We always ordered foods here for our gatherings. The owner is always nice and pleasant.

I really enjoy the homey vibes that the owner and his employees give of. Felt a lot like a dedicated family business. I bought "chả lụa" Hue-style, note that it has black peppers in it. The food was great, pairs really well with white bread with some salt and pepper for a quick and easy breakfast. Also, please please please do not mistaken this place for the other one nearby "Huong Giang Food To Go". The other place is just bad in comparision. There are only two places I ever go for bún bò Huế: my mom's kitchen and Huong Giang. I've tried countless spots around Westminster, from Vy Da to Quan Hy and beyond, but none hit the mark quite like Huong Giang. Other places often miss the rich, bold broth that makes bún bò Huế special, and I've found the meat portions skimpy--usually loaded with tofu instead. At Huong Giang, though, I can count on a flavorful, hearty broth with plenty of meat in every bowl. Beyond the bún bò, I'd recommend almost any of their banh dishes. Their bánh cuốn, bánh bèo, bánh bột lọc, and my personal favorite, bánh nậm, are all outstanding. The fillings are generous, with tasty, well-seasoned shrimp, and the fish sauce is perfectly balanced--sweet with just a hint of spice. For the food alone, I'd give them five stars, but overall, I'd rate it four stars. They're sometimes closed even when their hours say they'll be open, which can be frustrating. If you're looking for amazing service and a sleek, modern ambiance, this might not be your spot. Huong Giang is authentically Vietnamese in every sense: the decor is modest, and while the staff is friendly, the experience is focused on the food, not the frills. Came in this morning, ordered food for the entire family, some banh beo, cha hue, banh loc tran, and banh ram it. We had them few times before. HOWEVER, Their cha hue is entirely raw/old, it was very slimy in the center. We had two that were like this, very pink soft, slimy and gooey in the middle. We had to threw both away and the rest of them. Rather be safe than sorry. Please look at the pictures. Do you want to get people sick? What kind of restaurant served this old/raw food especially pork to their customers. I do not normally ever right food reviews but this is totally unacceptable and cannot be ignored! I recently discovered huong giang cha lua. I've tried the mini cha lua, omg it is super good, especially when it's hot or warm. The texture of the cha lua had the right amount of chewy and not soft. The flavor of the mini cha lua is really good too. I've tried the big cha lua for $9, i prefer the mini cha lua better. Once again I was craving bun bo hue (bbh) but my favorite restaurant is closed so I have to go to a restaurant that is opened and stumbled upon huong giang. There is plenty of parking in the plaza it was easy to park we got a spot right in front of the restaurant which was perfect since it started drizzling. Upon entering we were greeted and seated immediately. The restaurant was spacious which is great. I ordered a small bun bo hue dac biet to nho (small bowl of bbh) and banh uot thit nuong. The food came out pretty quickly. All of the portions of the dishes were smaller than I expected. The bbh broth was flavorful but there wasn't enough noodles and meat. I was hoping the broth would be hot to warm me on this cold day but it was only warm which was disappointing. Also their sate on the side on the table was not spicy at all it was very different and even sweet which threw me off. Their veggie selection to put into the bbh was also lacking. Looking at my old review 7 years ago when this bowl was 9-10 dollars, it is now 15 bucks for the largest bowl. Walking in on an unusual warm February monday, only because pho 79 is closed due to lunar New Years week, it was mostly empty in the afternoon. After getting seated, I had to wait a good 10 mins before the waiter appeared to take my order only after I flagged him down. They were busy trying to sell the carry out items at the window. The menu price for the biggest bowl of bun Bo hue was 13.95 (turned out to be 15 bucks at the register - maybe tax? Unusual at viet places). I told them to hold the blood cubes and get me extra meat instead. The spoon was oily and so I had to wipe it with the napkin, expected of Vietnamese places. You guys need to know that I don't really mind these little things as I'm here for the main dish. The main dish did not disappoint. It was hearty and filed me up with ample meat and flavorful. But recently I discovered it is pretty easy to get take-out for BBH at this place. This is an authentic Vietnamese place, hands down one of the best places for Hue (middle part of Vietnam) cuisine. They move very fast. Best if you know what you want. Some of my favorites are bun bo, banh beo, banh nam, banh bot loc. Each dish comes with its own dipping sauce and they usually will give you chillies on the side. Caution, sometimes those chilies are crazy spicy. Depending on what type of noddle dish you order, it will also come with a side of veggies specific to the noddles that you order. If you want front row parking that might be challenging especially on weekends. Otherwise parking is not a big deal. My sisters, mom and I did a girl's trip to OC. My aunty was supposed to join us, but she couldn't. She recommended this restaurant because they serve AUTHENTIC Huế cuisine. **favorite dish ** We tried Banh Uot Dac Biet (wet rice cakes combo #14) - I've never NOT liked this dish (no matter what region it's from lol). Growing up in Hawaii I know this is equivalent to look fun. The rolls here did not have meat in them, but the tasty parts were from the toppings. They're topped with 3 different types Vietnamese Ham, stir fried beef, fresh veggies and nuoc cham on the side. DELICIOUS. Banh beo - circular flat cakes with dried shrimp and pork skins. It was bland. You can skip, not my favorite dish (in general). Even with nuoc cham it wasn't still bland. Banh ram it - the crispy looking things. The bottom is a fried mochi type cake with a sticky dumpling and dried shrimp topping. You can skip banh nam and get this dish. Everything is every chewy. Texture is key here. Banh nam - dumplings that were super chewy, and topped with dried shrimps. It would get stuck in my teeth, not my favorite. It was also bland tasting. You'd have to dump lots of chili sauce on this for me. Nem - pickeled, fermented pork tasted good because I believe it's homemade. Tasted better with the banh Uot vs by itself though. Banh Bot Loc - clear crystal dumplings. They had this in banana leaf and I guess without. We got with the leaf of course. It tasted ok. I'm told that banh it and banh nam were dishes from the imperial family and the royals would eat it. I guess I'm not royal enough to enjoy!!! The service was good our waiter was patient and suggested dishes as we've never been. My mom return the following day to order the chao long (porridge with pigs blood and organs) and it was not good.
