I've been here a few times and always end up ordering their banh canh with handmade noodles--so good! I also tried their mam chung, which was delicious. Very little protein (shredded pork roll, Chinese sausage, and pig ears [ew!]). :) The shrimp sauce was also too salty. He had to dilute it with plenty of lemon juice and also added a bit sugar. My friend and I got banh canh nam pho to go from here and considering that the noodles and crab balls in it were all handmade, the $14 we spent on it seems like a good price. The banh canh nam pho came in three separate containers -- one with noodles, one with crab balls, and one with pepper slices in fish sauce. Be careful though, the banh canh can be spicy. Maybe we should've told them to not make it spicy. ***UPDATE again: The owner is super sweet and has the lightest, sweetest Hue accent I've ever heard. LOVE their bun cha ca da nang. The first time I had this dish was my last day in DaNang in 2011. It was love at first bite. It's hard to believe that with so many restaurants in Orange County, this dish was nowhere to be found until I found a home chef that sells it. I was only able to find Bún Cha Ca Nha Trang - which is nothing like Da Nang style lol Cho Dong Ba's bun cha ca Da Nang exceeds my expectation. For the same price as the home chef ($10), the portion is a looooot bigger and I'm getting more than just 1 piece of bamboo. The broth is sweet from vegetables. Amazing broth. The next dish I want to try is com hen. I had this dish for the very time not too long ago at my friend's and it was soooooo good. They're currently also selling longan and grapefruits to help the flood victims of Hue. It's a bit on the pricer side but instead of donating $10,$25 or whatever, now you get to enjoy the fruits yet also help the flood victims. ($7/lb for longan and $4 for a a BIG pomelo) read more

We were skeptical due to some bad reviews but we decided to try the foods ourselves. This is the place for Hue foods period!. The cha oc, cha cap were hot when we bought them today morning and they are delicious. Bun hen to-go needs reheating but it is as good as it gets cause its hen was from frozen. Chao hen, nem bo, nem heo are good. We bought tom chua va nem lui (frozen) to-go and will fry nem lui as recommended. We give this 5 stars since it is the only place which we found all Hue foods offered reaching or at 4 stars and more authentic than any other places. We definitely come back to try their bun bo hue, bun ca da nang and other dishes. This small shop has everything that I want, they have a lot of cool stuff and a lot of snacks from Vietnam but I cannot stand by with their service. 1st/ whenever I give them my card ( hand to hand) after charging, they always throw my credit card on the table and their table is not clean. I have to pick it up and clean my card. Is it hard to give the customer their card to their hands as they did to you? And this is not the first time, they usually just throw the card like "hey, pick up your card." 2nd/ I stopped by today to quickly buy a few things and after finishing I went straight to the cashier and the cashier saw me she still walked around to do other things. I didn't say anything because I want to know how long it will take for her to come to help me check out. After 1 or 2 minutes she started asking me what I needed and I told her I want to pay for my items. She heard it but didn't say anything and let me wait there again. I turned towards her direction and saw her taking a picture of their products WTF???. Then another girl came from the kitchen to help me check out. P/s. This place is good if you want hue food catered. The best dish I had out of my three dishes was the banh it ram. They make it super crispy here and not too much gluten dumpling on top. If that's your style then come here for that. As for my other two dishes, you can get it good anywhere else. This was the banh beo and banh cuon thit nuong. The banh cuon thit nuong was too thick for my taste. I like my meat cut thinner and easier to eat, but if you like it thicker than get it here. If you're not Asian, and don't know. If uncooked, you would heat it up at home when you're ready to eat. -by the plate or tray. If ordering noodles with broth they've got lots of size options for you. Heck, you can order a whole pot full of Bun Bo Hue. Love Love love all the possibilities. However, the high rating goes to Banh Beo. Rice cakes are soft, not mushy. A perfect bite with a hint of chewiness; texture and consistency is spot on. Sprinkle on crumbled shrimp, pork rinds, grilled green onions and drizzle on their slightly sweet fish sauce (approved by mom and dad) delish!!! Another reason for this raving review is their FRIENDLY service (not seen often in this type of establishment IMO). Complimentary hot tea offered upon entering/ordering. Helpful staff, fast service AND they take credit card with NO minimums (I even got the receipt emailed to me, high tech!). That's huge in small Mom and Pop resto. My friend wanted some banh beo and I wanted bun bo hue, so we decided to give this place a try. They are located right next to Phuoc Loc Tho, across the street from Dong Phuong tofu. So we ordered banh beo, banh nam, banh loc and bun bo hue. They were all tasty. I personally like the banh beo the best. Bun bo hue was good, but wasn't too impressive. It's a nice little togo place with a couple of tables for you if you prefer to sit here and eat. Very clean and bright. Service was nice and attentive too.
